Hi all,

Re: not feeling pg - I had a scan nearly 3 weeks ago and saw the lo but I still think it's all a dream! I am getting bigger by the day (had to tell my mum yesterday as had to go see her and she would have guessed!), am still throwing up (although less frequently) and have all symptoms!!!

Hi NJ - glad all ok, haven't posted for a few days but have been lurking!

Have been helping my mum's best friend move all weekend. I have been mainly looking after her 16 month old DD who is gorgeous. They have given us a rocking crib and a beautiful car seat + a pram and loads of other stuff to come when they can find it!!!

Have also been out for a dress for next weekend. Tried 3 on in Debenhams, 2 Red Herring mat wear and 1 normal dress in a size up. DP made me buy all 3 as we really liked them :o . Going to wear the "normal" dress for the party as it is beautiful.

Right, must go now else I will bore you all. Hope everyone else has had a good weekend

staceym11 · 07/05/2006 21:35

hi all,

my girl, how old is your dd3? my dd is 18 month old and still hasn't got much confidence walking, i really want her to get a shuffle on as dont want a double buggy.

To all those who think its too early to feel baby i felt dd at 14 weeks and this one at 11 weeks, just jiggering around when i lay down to go to bed esp. if i have a full bladder! it is possible!

Calsworld, i wouldnt worry too much about the measurements being wrong as when i had my scan they couldnt do the nuchal scan as the baby was too small, then it decided to have a jump around and turned and the measurements miraculously changed! if thats all that does it i wouldnt worry about them changing what you think your dates are!

delia, thats great news about your scan!

NJ so glad you're ok, we were starting to get worried about you! and just to say i wouldnt worry too much about your dates either, everyone said i was a month ahead of my dates (at least) as i am huge and i can feel the baby move, i then went for the scan and they put my dates back by a week (although they only changed the due date by 2 days, how odd!) so not as far gone anyway. i think its all a bit of guess work and with subsequent pgs your body will stretch quicker as there isnt as much resistance!!!

sighkotika, i htink its completely rational to have a fear your baby wont be there on the scan, we'r constantly reading these amazing stories which are so horrible about people not having a baby there when the scan comes etc. our mind goes into overdrive. once you've seen that scan everything will be ok and you'll relax a bit!

well as for me the morning sickness is wearing off, its definately not as frequent now but i do get the odd day when i cant eat anything! my dad phoned from america so they now know about the dog, which is at least a weight off of my mind.

this move seems to be taking forever tho, we'r still waiting for exchange on the flat. we went to see it again the other night which was great dd loves it (only problem is i mentioned itl be mummy daddy her and the baby so i think shes expecting the new baby to come as soon as we move in, opps!). somehow we changed the bedrooms round so that the kids will have the big bedroom and me and dp will have the small one how the hell that happened i dont know!!! just cant wait to be in there now!

hope everyone is ok!!

mygirllolipop · 08/05/2006 08:21

NJ - if you want the triple test then I would ring the MW if that's not inmportant then leave it r still ring MW!
sighkotika - welcome and congrats, I had that too in fact I still do, now that the sickness and tiredness has subsided I feel like I can't really be pg!
Stacey - DD3 is 13months and just started walking, she's getting confinence every day but still only takes around 3 steps!

staceym11 · 08/05/2006 10:38

see my dd didnt start (not even attempt) until she was nearly 15 months and now at 18 months im really trying to push her to walk more, shes fine indoors (except the stairs are scary coz she fell down them) but its outside with slopes/hills she tantrums, i suppose its just practise really!

mygirllolipop · 08/05/2006 11:11

Yeah DD3 doesn't like to walk in shoes, she's getting better tho.

awayfromhome · 08/05/2006 12:45

Don't quite know where to begin I've missed so much!! Been to Singapore for a break, bathed in the sunshine, feel quite relaxed at the moment!!

Amyjade & sighkotika - welcome and congratulations :). Amyjade - So sorry for the loss of Freya Sad, I read a thread on which you posted about pneumococcal meningitis, and I went out and got my dd the prevnar vaccination. Thankyou for posting about it and raising awareness on this horrible illness.

Sarahlou100 - The IUGR in my first pregnancy made it extremely stressful from about week 22 - and the doctors didn't paint a very nice outcome for us, chromosomal abnormalities etc. However, my dd defied them all, she was premature and very little 1.77kg, but was only in intensive care for 24 hours then moved onto SCBU.. She is now a very healthy 2 year old :)

Thankyou for all the messages re my delightful tennant - he still hasn't paid his rent, at this rate he will either leave or end up in court. We are hoping he will leave and that his deposit should cover the loss of rent, provided he doesn't trash the place! Makes me very Angry that someone is living in my house for free and I am paying the mortgage!

As for feeling the baby move - I didn't feel my dd until 21 weeks, however, I have felt some little taps/flutters (currently 13 weeks), but I'm not 100% sure it is the baby and not indigestion!

Glad everyone's scans have gone well, calsworld, I wouldn't worry to much about the dates. I have a friend who was dated 2 weeks after the date she thought (she was very certain about the timing!) and she surprised the medical profession by having her baby 2 weeks early!!! Think that we know our bodies better than anyone else..

Phew... think that covers it - apologies if I have missed people off..

calsworld · 08/05/2006 12:55

Hope you all had a good weekend, I got to show my very blurry picture to my family at my sister's wedding this weekend and all were very enthusiastic - despite the picture looking like a three year olds artwork!

Can someone tell me a little bit more about the cabbage theory - or point me in the right direction - I'm getting quite desperate now!

Also, thanks all for reassurances, I guess I was just really disappointed that the 12 week marker wasn't quite as close as I thought it was - but I feel like I'm getting more confident each time someone asks what the scan was like etc and I hear myself saying about seeing the heartbeat and watching it wiggle arms and legs...other people's excitement is definately helping to feed mine!

As for MS, it just seems to be going on and on, sitting in the bath seems to really help though!

Anyway, I'm waffling....NJ, glad to hear it was just the phone line....!

MeAndMyBoy · 08/05/2006 13:31

Hi, talking of cabbages, I remember having a very tearful conversation with DH at 3am one morning while trying to feed DS - asking for nipple shields and cabbage - he was very confused understandably and thought he'd dreamt it Grin.

What I remember is that you need dark green cabbage leaves and I put 1 leaf inside each side (the outside leaves ended up about the same size as my bra cup Shock) they help to draw the heat out of you and that helps with the soreness. I managed to wilt quite a few leaves. It is such a relief when you first put them in - nice and cool ahhhh. Hope it helps you too.

H x

mygirllolipop · 08/05/2006 15:38

There's also an enzyme in the cabbage I am lead to believe so if you bash the leaves a bit to get it out then pop into in your bra then the enzyme gets to work. and yes you can only use the outside leaves so best stock up on loads!

HopingCat · 08/05/2006 16:13

Hi,

I have a problem but don't think it can be solved by cabbage unfortunately. I've got a cough that is affecting my chest plus I'm losing my voice. Of course the pharmacist said I wasn't allowed to take anything. I'm sure my mw mentioned that I can have paracetamol so I have been doing. Has anyone got any other suggestions? I need to be able to clear my chest enough to be able to sleep at night.

As least it is only a cough. How do pregnant women manage when they have something worse like flu?!

fatbetty · 08/05/2006 16:35

Maybe try steam to help clear your chest. Also try sleeping with lots of pillows so that your top half is elevated so that you don't get so congested.

I had something similar when pg with ds2. But I was sick in the states and the pharmacist was able to recommend something to me.

Hope you feel better. Nothing worse than being sick AND pregnant!!

mygirllolipop · 08/05/2006 16:42

HC - you could try starting a new thread in pg about it. There's prob lots of natural remedies like vit c to boost your immune system, but I'm not very good at remembering what to take and what is safe. Also try looking in pg mags, I'm sure I've seen articles in those.

HopingCat · 08/05/2006 16:56

Thank you. I will start a thread on it and see what people suggest.

Hattie05 · 08/05/2006 17:15

Wow this thread moves so fast i just can't keep up!

Have skimmed through and glad to see most people are doing well.

Saw someone mention Red Herring maternity wear and i wanted to second its fab!! I went at the weekend and bought a pair of trousers, some cropped trousers and a lovely summer dress for my hols.

I have yet to investigate the maternity wear in topshop and newlook, but will be going tomorrow. Its so exciting to have 'choices' this time round. I think with DD1 i only had mothercare and Dorothy perkins!

On that note - does anyone else agree that Mothercare is CRAP for maternity clothes? I have bought and liked their jeans but thats about it! Other trousers i tried on were like hipster ones which i just cannot do with a bump!

Jen1209 · 08/05/2006 18:20

Hi,

Sorry about the multiple messages yesterday - PC mucking me about...

Have had a rotten day. I went out to town in my lunch hour and popped into Accessorize to see if I could find something to match my dress for the weekend. I slipped on the wet floor (being partially sighted, I didn't see that the floor was wet or the wet floor sign which was tucked in a corner) and fell straight down. I had my hands full of a bag each so couldn't put them out to stop me. I fell straight on my little bump and immediately got a sharp pain which turned into cramps. I was with my manager so she took me to A & E where we met DP. I have been checked over and they think all is ok (no bleeding yet which is the best sign) and I have to go to hospital tomorrow for a scan to check the LO is ok. Very shaken, with nasty bruised knees. Have filled in a Health & safety form in store and got the Head OFfice address to write to.

Sorry to be so long again but v scared about tomorrow now :(

calsworld · 08/05/2006 18:53

Oh Jen, poor you - as if they're isn't enough to worry about without poorly signed slippery floors to add to the hazards of pregnancy!

I'm sure you'll be fine but I feel sorry for your bruising - it sounds like your knees took the brunt of the force though! Take it easy and make sure DP does all the running around for you this evening! I'm sure LO will be holding on tight and all will be well.

Baby glue and best wishes!

Tinasan · 08/05/2006 19:06

Jen - poor you it must have been a terrible fright! Good luck for tomorrow - I'm sure it will be ok, these bumps are very resistant and all the amniotic fluid will have saved it from the worst! Do let us know how you get on tomorrow,
tinasan

saralou100 · 08/05/2006 19:12

oh jen, how awful... i fell over with ds when i was about 32 weeks, slipped on some bloody ice on my way into work one day! just remember their resilient lo and i'm sure everything will be fine for you to, but i'll keep you in my thoughts until you've posted that everythings fine tomorrow... now go rest up!!!

bubbly1973 · 08/05/2006 20:08

sorry, just popped in from june thread to check on jen

jen sorry to hear about the fall, good luck in the scan tomorrow, im sure all will be fine, just take it easy till then if you can and rest

thinking of you

browniechick · 08/05/2006 20:34

Hi - sorry to crash - just nipping over from the Nov 05 thread. Want to add a couple of things:
Not sure who was mentioning cabbage - but it ABSOLUTELY worked a treat after I'd had my little one, and booby doobies were like rocks. Savoy cabbage (outside leaves) put in a large freezer bag with a drop of water, then keep in the fridge. You can reuse them more easily like this. They work wonders!!
Whoever has the cough - you can take glycerin, honey & lemon - you could make it yourself if you fancy. This will soothe the throat. Can also take simple Linctus. For getting rid of phlegm, either try Vicks Vapour rub, inhaling it dissolved in boling water. You could also try menthol crystals (be wary, you don't need many for a potent nose clearer!) or just plain boling water.

HTH and fingers crossed for happy healthy Nov babies Smile Grin

Brownie

calsworld · 08/05/2006 20:41

OMG not sure how I'm going to explain / rationalise the cabbage to DH! Grin

...or have you all clubbed together and this is a wind up to see if I'm really desperate enough to put frozen cabbage leaves in my bra????Shock

Hmmmmm...
