saralou... i ave always found that the worst co-workers are women who ought to know better. do women forget how horrible pregnancy can be? and for women who have easy symptom free pregnancies, forget getting any sympathy at all. ignore them, they are probably jealous.

Staceym, knew someone was having a scan today, thought it was mower... glad your lo is ok.

My scan is tomorrow, not a nuchal though so i wont find out my ds risk till the triple test... anyone know what the 'normal' ranges are for triple test, by age?

Debbsy · 28/04/2006 08:49

Saralou how awful hold your head high and stuff em!!

HopingCat · 28/04/2006 08:57

Hi everyone,

I don't understand what my body is doing to me. I'm 13 weeks today and have started bleeding again. This happened 3 weeks ago, I had scan and they found no cause. So I don't know what to do this time. Do I leave it on the assumption that it's probably nothing to worry about? It is very light just like last time and I have no other symptoms at all. Anyone ever experienced this sort of thing with previous pregnancies? Think I might start a new thread on this subject just to see what people think.

Debbsy · 28/04/2006 09:03

hopingcat have no experience sorry as this is our 1st,but it does say in all the baby books that lots of women bleed in pg,but to be on the safe side i would ring your midwife hth.

mygirllolipop · 28/04/2006 09:18

Spinach - that info is prob on the net somewhere.
HC - I would get it checked out asap not to woryy you or say anything is def wrong because I don't think anything is wrong. But if you ring your MW she will get you an appointment with the EPAU for the next few days which will put your mind at rest. You are prob sick of hearing me say, but with DD3 I bled on and off for weeks mid 1st trimester to early 2nd, turned out to be a haematoma, which is what it could be with you. I also bled in labour but they never found the cause, main thing was DD3 was fine and healthy.
DD2 been sent home sick yesterday, still has fever today. Think I'm coming down with it too. Anyone know how to draw pus from a cut on a whingey 4yr olds knee?

harrogatemum · 28/04/2006 10:49

Megg - lots of love and hugs to you. xxxx

twocatsonthebed · 28/04/2006 11:30

morning everyone!

HC - I'd agree with what everyone else has said. A friend of mine had this on and off, and baby was fine, but you should definitely ring the midwives - they really won't think you're wasting their time.

Eeyoreuk - great nuchal scan result. But then I would say that, as it's just the same as mine!

Sarahlou - can't believe that they're like that when of all people they should know better. I'm very grateful that my office are being reasonable.

Hope everyone else is doing fine!

s x

mummyhill · 28/04/2006 12:21

Mygirllollipop - sorry to crash but am watching the thread because I know someone on it. Try a drop of teatree ol on a plaster or have a look in the chemist for blackjack (looks and smells vile but works well).

HopingCat · 28/04/2006 12:35

Well, I took all your advice. Midwife not available so went to GP. He says its probably not something to worry about but he's sending me for a scan anyway as there is no other way to know that everything is ok. So scan is 2.30 this afternoon. At least I will be reassured by the scan but it makes me nervous that they don't really have any explanations for what is happening.

Debbsy · 28/04/2006 12:43

best of luck hopingcat you will be fine im sure.

Debbsy · 28/04/2006 12:43

best of luck hopingcat you will be fine im sure.

NatalieJane · 28/04/2006 12:46

Good luck this afternoon HC, I am sure it will be fine, as others have said some people do just bleed, I am sure that doesn't make it any better for you though.

Try not to worry too much and relax as much as you can before you have to leave.

I will be thinking of you, good luck :)

Debbsy · 28/04/2006 12:58

natalie just to let you know my sickness is being cured by lemon and ginger tea,and never letting my stomach go empty.

NatalieJane · 28/04/2006 13:03

I think mine is starting to fade a little, smells can still be a bit funny, and I seem to be able to smell everything 100 times more than I ever have done before, but I think I have been quite lucky really, still not been sick, so fingers crossed now that it stays that way!!

(As an after note, have you seen wannaBe's news on the TTC chat thread? :o)

calsworld · 28/04/2006 13:08

Hi all, missed a couple of days due to severe sickness....Meg, so sorry to hear your news.

HopingCat, sure all will be just fine and sending you hugs in advance of this afternoon...

Feeling really miserable and fed up of feeling sick, I really am trying hard, dry crackers, ginger tea, eating regularly, soft mints! but still feeling blimin' awful. Not helped by fact doctor has changed some other medication I was on, he said I'd feel rotten all this week and offered to sign me off, I declined but have ended up at home all week anyway.

Debbsy · 28/04/2006 13:25

oh calsworld ((((((((HUGS)))))))hope you feel better soon.
nj i have yes fantastic isnt it?

mygirllolipop · 28/04/2006 13:27

Thanks mummyhill. Dunno if I'll be able to get to the chesmist tho depends on DD2. She insists on limping everywhere wearing rolled up PJ's! hope that blackjack stuff smells like the sweets of the same name, tho I'll not be tasting it!

flowers1 · 28/04/2006 15:55

I've just been catching up with this thread after a couple of manic days in work and am sorry to hear there has been some sad news. It makes you realise how precarious this whole business is, and how we can't take anything for granted.

Like lots of people on here, I feel sick for large parts of the day, though I don't actually vomit. I find eating crisps and biscuits help (strangely, fruit and salads don't have the same effect :o)

I would like to say that I am getting a bump, but I think it is all the comfort eating I am doing. Should I have a bump I can feel by 11 weeks? My stomach is bloated, but it feels like fat. Does a baby bump feel firm to the touch?

NatalieJane · 28/04/2006 17:03

Hi Flowers :)

I wouldn't worry about not having a definate bump yet, many people don't show until half way through (and later) especially with their first pregnancies. Although that is only a rule of thumb, my sister was huge first time round, and second time even at nine months you would have been hard pushed to guess she was pregnant, and both of her babies were about the same size!

Firmness, especially in the early weeks I would say most people seem to feel firmer as the day goes on, I have a wobbly belly in the morning but by night time it is stretched so much that my old stretch marks from first time round are starting to itch and burn, but as time is passing I am finding that it is starting to firm up earlier and earlier.

spinach · 28/04/2006 18:14

HC... hope all is well.

HopingCat · 28/04/2006 18:18

Hi.
Have been for scan and everything is fine with the baby. They found no cause for the bleeding so did internal exam as well (Blush really not nice but at least it was a female doctor!) but still didn't find any cause. At least I am reassured now and can only hope it stops by itself and doesn't happen again.

Wasn't as good seeing baby this time as I'd drunk so much water the baby was being squashed by my enormous bladder! Could see heartbeat though. I'd advise people going for scans not to drink quite as much water as you are told too. I thought I was going to wet myself walking through the hospital from the car park Grin

Jen1209 · 28/04/2006 18:38

Hi all, HC - glad all is well :)
I too am finding ginger drinks working well. My breakfast is consisting of 2 ginger biscuits and a glass of juice whilst sat very quietly before brushing my teeth! Any change to this and away we go with the sick!!!!

The stupid hospital are refusing to give me a 12 week scan because I had one at 9 weeks Angry I even got my GP to call them and argue with them but they won't budge. I am going to see if I can book one at our private hospital for the week after next. Even DP says he wants a 12 week one to show people :o I am NOT waiting til 20 weeks to see my baby again!!! I also want the Nuchal scan done.

Sarlou - what an awful reaction from your work colleagues Angry for you too. As lots of people have said, you and your baby are the most important, so if you need time off, you jolly well take it!

megg - sorry to hear your news :( take care of yourself - hugs

Right, off for early tea and early bed as have written an essay here and had a v late night last night as I went to see the RatPack with my Mum in London - it was fab!

Debbsy · 28/04/2006 18:52

hi jen glad you are well

Debbsy · 28/04/2006 18:53
