Cadmum wish I could give you a hug. Have you got lots of good support around you and your partner in real life?

PorkusEnormous · 29/11/2012 14:16

Lovely news kellestar, enjoy your afternoon cake.

Look at the numbers of us with low lying placentas! They used to treat it as a big deal and advise anyone with a remotely low placenta not to have sex, under no circumstances have an orgasm or lift anything and to stay in bed! Imagine all of us bed-bound and sex starved if that were still the case.

90% move up by 30+ weeks :)

PorkusEnormous · 29/11/2012 14:20

enjay it is definitely useful knowing the sex as early as possible! I have stored all of DD's clothes (and toys) for this baby so it will be in pink regardless ;) Lets hope for its sake its a girl :O

No braxton hicks yet but if I sneeze cough or twist my body in bed I get sharp pains!

steph2412 · 29/11/2012 15:57

Congrats kellestar a quick question re low lying placenta i was told my placenta was covering babies exit it was wrote on my notes lower segment of anterior placenta is covering internal os what does that mean x

angeltattoo · 29/11/2012 16:19

Hi all,

Sending out thoughts to cadmum and mama and her LO.

I have had no more spotting, thank goodness. Went to Drs for ? UTI but she said there was no raging infection, so see how it goes. No Abx yet, but she will send sample to lab. She also listened to baby with doppler so I heard the HB Grin

i am very keen to start buying now! I need to work out how much of everything i need (? newborn ? 1st month? 0-3 mths? How long will my baby be?!)

I was telling everyone yesterday that my sickness has passed, but MS was back this morning to prove me wrong Shock

21 weeks tomorrow!

Missmuffet28 · 29/11/2012 16:25

Congrats on the scans today I had my scan date through today for my low lying placenta hehe it's 19th march!! I'm a little annoyed it wasn't explained to me what a low laying placenta meant as it led me to google it and we all know what happens when you google so I'm trying to poke the info I read out of my minds eye and remember to ask midwife next appt!

I have been naughty and picked up some boy related goodies in mothercare my excuse is that they were reduced and so too good to not pick up! I have hidden them away as I couldn't stop picking them up and looking at them! I think I'm getting really broody now if that makes sense!

As usual hope everyone is doing ok,
Cadmum you are still in my thoughts I wish I could make it better for you x

I bought first baby item last weekend

teddybear

I gave it to OH to tell him we were having a girl (since its pink!) & also as someone had said on here that if we sleep with bear now then when baby is born she can have it for comfort since it smells of her parents, I had trouble finding one suitable for newborns & not £15+ but this one is & was £8.

I think was Edin mentioned pelvis pain already, mine started at 12 weeks when walking/turning in bed/standing up fast, good news is that it didn't get much worse but seems to not go away so I have physio booked next Friday.

One stupid thing I noticed helps a bit in bed, is that at weekend I was wearing a super nice satiny nightie & because it was slidey on the sheets it was much faster & less painful to turn over. Might help to try.

Teapig · 29/11/2012 17:25

Congratulations on your scan kellestar. I had mine today and all was fine. It was a very thorough scan, amazing to see baby for so long. It turns out I have an anterior placenta (I think a few of us do) so maybe that's why I haven't really felt movement. Baby's head measured a little small but still within normal range and apparently normal when baby is in breach.

We're having a GIRL! I am so excited!! I'd been expecting a boy as I had no MS and heard that's common with a boy. I was secretly hoping for a girl though obviously delighted either way. Very, very happy. Now if I can just shake this cold...

angeltattoo · 29/11/2012 17:38

Yay teapig congratulations!!!

steph2412 · 29/11/2012 18:14

Wow teapig i think i was hoping for a girl got dd age 5 and ds age 4 but when i got.told we were having a boy i was strangly relieved and happy!x

Rivergirly · 29/11/2012 19:03

Hi

Had our second scan today - all good news - we had a very long scan as they were teaching a medical student - but very happy to say everything was where it should be and the baby is a girl!!! Which I thought from the beginning but hadnt said anything just in case! I knew it was a different pregnancy from my 2 boys - felt lots more nauseous to start with and cravings for fruit more recently! Soooooo soooo happy though - completes my family really nicely.

Congrats to everyone else on their scans today too.

20 weeks

PorkusEnormous · 29/11/2012 19:43

steph it means that your placenta is on the front wall of your uterus (anterior), and that the lower part of your placenta is covering the 'internal orifice of the uterus (os)' - the part of your cervix that opens into the uterus.

In the position it's in baby can't get out through your cervix. It should more thank likely move out of the way by the time baby is ready to come out though :)

PorkusEnormous · 29/11/2012 20:00

*angeltattoo sorry to hear your morning sickness is back :( mine generally went at around 14 weeks but I still manage to vomit every time I'm a passenger in a car for any longer than 20 minutes - it's lovely isn't it?! Glad no more spotting and you got to hear babies heartbeat! I haven't heard mine yet, I presume I will get to at my next midwife appt - she wouldn't listen at 16 weeks Hmm.

Congratulations on your girls rivergirly and teapig!!! How lovely you both got what you secretly? wanted. Chuffed for you both.

PorkusEnormous · 29/11/2012 20:02

Teapig · 29/11/2012 20:54

Steph I'd love to have three with two boys like you, bet your DCs are excited.

angel and porkus hope your sickness goes soon, how horrible. At least we've reached the half way point now.

steph2412 · 29/11/2012 20:58

Missmuffet28 · 29/11/2012 23:20

My little wriggler is really keeping me up tonight! I can't get comfy then when I do settle...... Bam in the bladder or the belly! It's real hard ones tonight too one so hard I kinda made a little noise out loud hehe! I think I may ring the doc and ask what the protocol is for checking for a uti if I can just drop a sample in or not I have been feeling the last couple of days like I constantly need a wee I don't know whether its my little monster pressing and irritating or something else, can you just get a uti for no reason In pregnancy? I suffer with them ALOT but usually of my own doing, sex, alcohol, bubble baths, too many strawberries lol stuff like that but I have done none of these things for a while!

On a more positive note I can feel the kicks and punches from the outside with my own hands so I think it may be time to share the moment! Well tomorrow anyway as I have one snorking snorer laying next to right now!!

JaquelineHyde · 29/11/2012 23:50

Evening everyone.

I'm in hospital, I was admitted this afternoon after collapsing in town earlier today after suffering severe cramps, followed by spotting.

Doppler done and heartbeat found strong and train like, internal done and all looks ok there.

Still have to stay in though as they want to do an emergency scan in the morning because of this coming on after the crash. I'm knackered and in pain from the whiplash and dull heavy peariod type pains.

On the plus side I have managed to read an entire book uninterupted since being admitted and I've started another one that I hope to finish before I get discharged Grin

20 weeks exactly

aufaniae · 30/11/2012 00:01

Jaqueline, what a horrible shock, I'm really Angry on your behalf, some people shouldn't be allowed on the road.

I hope you and bump are OK. Keeping my fingers crossed for the scan.

(Am impressed by the reading a book uninterrupted though! I haven't managed to do that ... ooh let's see ... since before DS was born!)

enjay0811 · 30/11/2012 00:16

Lol pork can imagine us all laid up in bed for months, how did ppl use to cope with other dc's and work?! steph your lucky to even have your notes, the sonographer said straight away, we don't need your notes today! Jst had to hand a piece of paper to the receptionist to book for another scan at 34wks! muffet for this reason I consulted Dr Google too and wish I hadnt! [Confused]

I think I've had a lot less antenatal appointments than others too - booking in apt at 8 wks, scan at 12 then nothing until I'm 24 wks. Seems like a long time, although this is dc3.

Good luck for the scan 2moro Jac hope u and bump r fine if not jst a little shaken up from the accident.

Congrats on the lovely scans everyone else? X

enjay0811 · 30/11/2012 00:17

Bloody phone, tht wasn't a question more ! Happy wishes!

Cadmum · 30/11/2012 06:50

Jaqueline Thinking of you and hoping everything checks out on the scan tomorrow.

Any news from you, mana1980?

Flosshilde · 30/11/2012 07:14

Hi all - not posted for ages.

20wk scan was a while ago now, all was OKand we're having another boy. Which is fine with me as all DS' stuff is in the loft bagged up and ready for reuse. I have a residual worry about the baby being Downs as we opted out of testing but as we wouldn't have terminated it makes no difference in the long run.

I also have a low lying placenta and another scan booked for 32 weeks to see if it has moved. 95% of them do according to Dr Google. I've had sex and am certainly not bed bound, with a 2yo DS and a full time job....

I was admitted to ante-natal on Monday as I had strong and regular (i.e. every two minutes) Braxton Hicks on Sunday night, cramping and weird coloured wee. I was dopplered and examined and cervix still found to be closed and long. Baby in right place with strong heartbeat. The reason I phoned in as DS was premmie and I had similar symptoms, though much more intense, when I went into labour with him. Came home reassured and although I am still getting loads of BHs I have been told they are normal. Apparently on another night I might have slept through them.

I still have bloody morning sickness!

Very best wishes to cadmum, mama and jacqueline and to everyone else having scans and getting through it all day by day.

JaquelineHyde · 30/11/2012 08:19

Bloody hospital internet is soooo slow. All is well here, just waiting for the scan surrounded by women on the verge of labour and feeling very jealous!

Giddypants · 30/11/2012 08:43

jaqueline how awful, hope all is ok and settles down with a bit of rest

Think this baby knows how to body pop, they were relentless yesterday, thankfully settled down for the night and is revving up again now, it makes my mum cringe when I show her the kicking so I keep showing her
She's coming to the 23wk scan with me on mondy I'm hoping she will change her stance when she sees him/her wiggling!
