Wuzzle - I only got my nd scan date through this week (am 19 weeks) so don't think you have any need to panic yet.

Rianna · 09/05/2006 17:16

totaaly floaty i have taken an indipendent midwife as well this time, feels very reassuring that she will be with me all the time etc.

majormoo · 09/05/2006 18:37

Hi everyone. no news here really.
On the booze front, was walking to Victoria station after a meeting today, and saw lots of office workers drinking pints in the sunshine and REALLY fancied one. Oh well, I allowed myself a shandy over the weekend!!

My annoying pregnancy niggle is that I am still needing to wee all the time. It is driving me mad. My pregnancy books say this stops in the second trimester but not the case for me.

totallyfloaty35 · 09/05/2006 18:58

Rihanna, what area do you live in,did you find it hard to find your independant mw?
Major,i wee all the time too, keep waking up in the night to go,its driving me mad

Good evening ladies. Yes thats the worst for me weeing at night. They say if you dont have a drink after a certain time you should be ok. Rubbish! 4.30 am you can garuantee to find me having a wee. Sorry tmi. Is anyone getting heartburn yet too or is it just me?

Rianna · 09/05/2006 21:02

yes have to wee all the time and heartburn is back as well.
Gingeme, broodje kroket is hard to explain, I'll try and find it on the net :-)

I live in Surrey, NHS is very ok here, but I've found that a supportive midwife can make such a difference during labour. with no 2 I didn't have a friendly one and the started hyperventilating. the one with no 1 was very nice, knew here from antenatal class. with no 3: ok but had to wait two hours and that won't happen with own midwife.
in holland you always have the midwife who cared for you. i'm not saying eveything is better there (no pain relief even with a very painful labour!)but knowing your midwife is nice and also, you get a carer for 10 days after birth, who will look after your children, clean the house, do the shopping, make coffe for visitors ( firdt week is very festive)cook and bath baby, help with bf etc etc.
They can't understand how we cope over here!

Gingeme · 09/05/2006 22:50

Thankyou Rianna. If I wasnt so lazy I guess I could look it up realy! Off to bed now. Goodnight to all xx

wuzzlefraggle · 10/05/2006 08:29

im still weeing loads too come to think of it

totallyfloaty35 · 10/05/2006 08:58

I think i might move to hollandGrin

OP posts:
majormoo · 10/05/2006 11:43

yep I am definitely moving to Holland too!

Gemmitygem · 10/05/2006 12:07

hi all,

I've always got up to wee at least 3 times in the night, so preg hasn't made any difference Grin. Something tells me I should be doing those pelvic floor exercises in good time! Are you ladies all doing them? The problem is they're not exactly interesting.

re the drinkers, I've had a glass of champagne whenever available, which was only really when we were back in the UK and going to weddings, and otherwise one beer (half pint) a week.

Also is anyone not having real kicks yet? I feel slight squirmings especially if get up suddenly, but nothing definable. When I feel anxious (eg watching that Jodie Foster film where her daughter goes missing on an aeroplane) it seems to happen more.. (am 18 weeks tomorrow)..

totallyfloaty35 · 10/05/2006 12:33

Gem,i only getting the odd kick, mostly the fluttery sensation still, but dont worry it soon turns into full scale kicks and punchs, can be quite painful too sometimes.
Im lucky this time in that husband is taking 4wks off work and we have an aupair so might escape post natal depression this time.First birth was awful, very traumatic,dh was at work all day every day and had no-one to help, which after a c-section you really need help.I hope all the ladies on here have help lined up be it from family ,partner, friends or hired,it makes such a difference to your recovery,i dont have supportive family, when i told my mum i was pg again she said "well dont expect me to look after it"Shock

Gingeme · 10/05/2006 13:10

Know what you mean totaly I often walk into a room and stand there wondering what I went in there for. My ds was following me the other day and asked'Mum,what you doing?'. Ill be blowed if I knew. Im wearing maternity jeans today which I cant believe as Im only 15 weeks preg! Theyre the ones that you let out as you get bigger. Mind you I do have to keep pulling them up. I so miss my jeans so I thought Id risk it for a biscuit. Gemmitygem you will feel baby kicks soon enough and yes sometimes they can be quite painful. My 1st ds used to get his foot caught in between my ribs and it realy hurt till I pushed it back again. ds no3 used to throw himself from side to side and if I was laying down while he did it I used to actualy turn over with him ! Hes just as strong now. Its a lovely feeling though and if you play a bit of lively music they love it. I was playing my fave tune yesterday while making dinner and baby was moving like mad. Taking my ds to the clinic at 2 today . He was 2 on 13th April and still hasnt had his 18-24 month check up. Gonna see if theyll do it while Im there today. Hope your all enjoying the sun. xxx

Swizzler · 10/05/2006 13:21

I think I'm definitely getting some movement, tho this is my first so hard to tell. OH claims he can feel the baby moving as well - is this wishful thinking at 18 weeks (tomorrow)?

And I'm with you on the memory - desk at work covered with post-it notes otherwise I'd have NO idea what's going on.

Just been out for a walk - lovely weather

whiffy · 10/05/2006 14:46

Marthahm: quick note to thank you for the Osteo recommendation. Went there this week and they found what was causing me problems with backache & stuff. Top tip from you, so many thanks.

Junior is kicking round like a footie player these days. As for forgetfulness & post-it notes, I've been using these since my first son was born, so I have no fall-back plan for the current additional degeneration my brain seems to be suffering from.

One of my work colleagues is also due Oct and I've told her about this site, so I guess I'll have to behave myself now, no more revealing my erotic dreams involving work colleagues such as Snoop Doggy Juerger (sorry, couldn't resist an in-joke she'll appreciate). Unless of course I have something really salacious to tell this thread, in which case I might sneak in and spill all under a name change (unfortunately my mumsnet name is a bit if a giveaway for those who might know me)

Is everyone planning to watch the Apprentice tonight? And do we really care who wins? I was gunning for Michelle till I read in a rag that she is in luuuuurrrrrvvvve with Syed. Ugh. Still, it will kill the time till Desperate Housewives comes on. I tend to imagine myself as a fatter, less sucessful version of 'Lynette' and I have lots of fantasies of coming out with some of her wit in office meetings (instead of thinking up the good lines in the bath 6 hours afterwards). Such is life.

And am I the only one that keeps thinking about doing some yoga?

Rianna · 10/05/2006 15:00

I'm switching more and more to maternity clothes as well - though I'm not yet visible pregnant for who doesn't know( they think I've just put on weight- would like a bigger bump!)

I don't have real cravins except ...fruit, salads!
Can't stand any fatty foods , like was in Wagamama yesterday but didn't reaally enjoy my usual chicken - ketsu or what is it called.

Have a look at Verbaudet , bad serive, nice clothes.New Look, Topshop , M&S, H&M, all do maternity clothes! Next has a great beach-skirt and trousers.
Have also bought from Formes for some more formal, very pretty feminine clothes ( pricey!)
Isabella Oliver: dissapointment, not meant for women with breasts.
Seraphine: don't find under the bump trousers comfy, prefer a broad, elastic waist.

Highlander · 10/05/2006 15:02

ooh, Rianna, you read my mind. I do love the Formes stuff, but it is pricey. Why oh why did I give my other stuff away??????

Gemmitygem · 10/05/2006 15:48

whiffy, know what you mean. I just ordered the preg pilates on amazon, so will try that, cos yoga is so boring! (Although good for you)..

totally and gingeme, looking forward to the kicks then, but not that 'foot caught in the ribs' thing: yikes!

Panic-bought a few maternity trousers in Belgium when I was over, but so glad I did cos it's the last chance till August (in Kazakhstan they're still favouring the 1970s flowery blouses with frills or sailor collars for pregnant women..)

Also no major cravings, but definitely want fruit more than usual..

18 weeks tomorrow, same as you Swizzler.

night all!

Swizzler · 10/05/2006 15:48

Strange - I wandered into Formes the other day and was revolted at the sea of beige and lemon clothing (why can't maternity stuff come in nice colours)? Not that I'm dissing anyone who wants to wear these colours, but if you could see me you would know that it's not a good idea.

Any tips for nice mat. dresses that aren't black (or yellow, or orange, or that nasty shade of green)? I don't want to be sweltering at work when everyone else is in their summer frocks...

Also, does anyone know if the H&M in Chelmsford do the maternity range? Planning on a shopping trip in a few weeks and can't face Oxford Street.

Swizzler · 10/05/2006 15:51

Though sailor collars would be worse.

Gem: hoping that a baby in the middle of October will mean that it gets cooler before I become absolutely massive :)

Gingeme · 10/05/2006 16:04

I bought some realy nice t shirts in Peacocks at the weekend size 22-24. Look nicw without looking too massive. I spotted in Matalan that they do nursing bras!! A set of 2 for about £19. Fantastic or what? Bought ones from Mothercare with last ds and spent about that and more on just one bra. Quite lucky with the maternity jeans as my sis in law just had a little girl and shes given me 4 pairs of them. 2 are for when your realy big though with the elasticated panel at the front. Just buying elasticated bigger size stuff for summer and hope it lasts. Had my ds 24 month cheack up hes just fine. Oh well off for a cuppa. Bye for now ladies xx

Gemmiuty: will you give birth in Kazachstan? belgium? UK?(where are you from?)

I've also discovered a nice maternity range in Kongston, Benttall's, it is called Queenmum .
I think I have enough stuff now!
