caped have you told the hospital that you don't want an ECG? Sorry if I'm nosey just wondering their reaction. My LO is breech too and I don't want that either so have a hospital appointment next week and if she's not turned then i don't want them to try force one upon me

horseylady · 10/10/2012 15:32

Mm write him a letter!!! Nervous they can not force anything on you and you can attempt to deliver a breach baby naturally. Seriously though acupuncture is supposed to work and its not needles but burning.

Right last wed done!!! I'll not be working wed either!!!

capedcrusader25 · 10/10/2012 15:36

Mine's footling breech so it's really not recommended to try the ECV or a natural birth anyway - something to do with a risk with the cord?? I haven't told them yet no, I have told my midwife though who was fine with it. Like Horsey says you can't be made to do anything you don't want to. I've not been one to have a strong view on anything really so far Confused but I definitely know I don't want this! I did a lot of research and looked at the stats of my particular hospital just so I felt a bit more 'read-up' on it all but honestly just stick to your guns!

capedcrusader25 · 10/10/2012 15:41

MM I'm a complete lunatic at the moment, so I would have probably set it on fire by now!!

MissMummy1 · 10/10/2012 15:42

Now there's an idea.... Or park it at the bottom of the slipway at low tide? Oh you're a bad influence you lot!

Brockle · 10/10/2012 15:53

I am going to try the positions I have seen on the website. He was head down two weeks ago so hoping I can coerce him. It is totally your choice whether to have an ECV. They cannot do one without your consent. I have five weeks before my appointment so fingers crossed.

NervousAt20 · 10/10/2012 15:57

I might try acupuncture before my appointment and see if that helps. DP knows its not what I want so he won't let me agree to it on the day bless him but thank you for the advice ladies Smile

applepieinthesky · 10/10/2012 15:58

Luckily my baby is head down and starting to descend even lower but I had already decided I wouldn't be having an ECV if I was told baby was breech. Read up on it nervous and if you decide you don't want it then tell them.

horseylady · 10/10/2012 16:03

breech treatment

daisychain76 · 10/10/2012 16:38

Hi all, reading the last few pages has made me feel l?m not missing much by skipping the last 7 weeks Smile.

Today is my first day of ?rooming in? at hospital ~ staying overnight in a special parents room to eztablish bf on demand. Fingers crossed it goes well and we might both be home in a couple of days.

In typical newborn fashion he hardly ever cried on the ward but is really unsettled now we are left alone!

pikz · 10/10/2012 16:40

Need to write my birth plan apparently....have strong thought on most of it but still haven't got my head around natural or assisted placenta delivery? Any thoughts?

NervousAt20 · 10/10/2012 17:02

I have read up abit but will do some more but I'm 99% sure that its not what I want, I can be a bit of a wuss though and get pressured into certain things

Thanks for the link horsey

daisy glad all is going well for you Smile

Peaky1 · 10/10/2012 17:37

pikz I will wait for it to occur naturally but if it hasn't happened within about 40mins or maybe a bit more then i'll have the treatment. It's just my personal choice and the midwife was happy with that. They tend to have policies where they'll wait for a certain time before they suggest treatment to you but it's your choice regardless.

You've also reminded me that I need to finish and print my birth plan too! If only my shitty printer was working Angry.

I finally had the energy to clean today and I'm now very knackered but pleased with myself. I even put the isofix base in the car just to get it out of my way in the living room! All I have left to do now is a bit more polishing and I'm done. I have a feeling my back is going to make me regret it all tomorrow but we'll see!

As for slings, I bought a baby bjorn second hand sling from ebay aaaages ago for about £14. I also like the look of this Mei Tai sling YW so thanks for mentioning that. Good price too and you're right - less faff by the look of it!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 10/10/2012 17:58

Just popping in again so I can keep up. Currently in the maternity physio department with ten needles stuck in my lower legs for SPD x

ValiumQueen · 10/10/2012 18:04

Mei Tai are cheap on eBay because they are not genuine ones, but copies as far as I can see. I am no expert, but comparing listings and prices some are branded and some not.

kirrinIsland · 10/10/2012 18:43

My Mai tei is an eBay cheapy - palm something or other it's called - cost about £20 2 years ago. It's been great, and now you can get them with pockets on them and everything easily pleased I was actually tempted to get another one even there is nothing wrong with the one I've got!

applepieinthesky · 10/10/2012 18:46

daisy sounds like things are going well, glad you will be able to take him home soon.

DP has calmed down now and said we couldn't ever rehome the dog because he can see how much I love him and how it would break my heart. He loves him as well but says things sometimes in the heat of the moment that he doesn't mean. Looks like I will spending my time when I finish work looking for new sofas. We couldn't really afford it right now but will have to sort something out.

MissMummy1 · 10/10/2012 18:50

Don't I feel like the worst person in the world. After ranting at and slagging off him indoors all day he got home early on his own accord while I was at work and cooked dinner, emptied the dishwasher (yet to discover if he's followed my cupboard maps...) and is currently running me a bath. He's also apologised for being a twat - a minor miracle for the world's second most stubborn person! I am a bitch, he's not all bad. Just a little selfish thoughtless sometimes.... Blush

MissMummy1 · 10/10/2012 18:54

Yay apple glad he's seen sense and apologised too. Dogs are part of the family as well, and I'm fairly certain he wouldn't rehome your baby if they broke something!

Lovely update daisy won't be long till you're home xxx

I'm clueless on slings. Dh wants one, I'm not convinced I'll use it. We shall see.

ShellyBobbs · 10/10/2012 18:54

Good news Daisy, fingers crossed for a speedy delivery home :)

StuntNun · 10/10/2012 18:55

Apple my dog ate a sofa too. Man I loved that sofa. We tried to have it recovered but noone would touch it, they said it would cost as much to recover it as to buy a new one. I said that was fine but I don't think upholsterers are what they used to be. She had chewed all the foam padding too so it was completely wrecked. Sigh. She had really bad separation anxiety after DS1 was born and it took a long time to resolve. There is a lot you can do though - ask Google. Things like when you get home you don't make a big fuss of them, just walk in and ignore them until you've been home for a while. And leaving the radio on. All kinds of stuff. I reckon they go on the rampage almost as soon as you leave the house so I give her something to distract her, for example a Kong with Tesco Value salmon paste inside, or if it's early I give her her breakfast.

P.S. Don't forget the new thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1584066-November-2012-babies-arriving-early-and-impatient-mummies-to-be. How soon can we get through this thread?

applepieinthesky · 10/10/2012 19:19

MissMummy Exactly. I said to him 'what are you going to do if the baby is hard work? Change your mind and send him back?' We knew it would be hard work when we got a dog so that's not a valid excuse to say you don't want him anymore.

Stunt yes ours has eaten the foam padding inside as well. It's repairable probably but as you say it would cost as much to get it repaired as a new sofa. We have had these ones years anyway and they've seen better days. We had already discussed it but decided to get a dishwasher now and new sofas when I went back to work. Now we have to fork out for both at the same time.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 10/10/2012 19:19

I think it should be your choice to have it turned or not. I was offered and ECV with DD1 and refused, I think that it has been proven that lots and lots of babies pop back round after that has been done. I have heard that acupuncture works a treat but I didn't try that I went for an ELCS at the time, I'm not sure if she would have moved anyway she was well wedged up there they had to really tug her out and she had a squished head.

Had a lovely day, my dad and is wife came to to treat the big fat wobbly woman to lunch and bought me a lovely newborn cardi with cable detail on it. They got it from Boots yw . Reminiscent of my nan's creations, whom btw I am thinking of naming this one after if she is a girl.

ValiumQueen · 10/10/2012 19:22

MM you are not a bitch. Even though he apologised and is trying to make it ip to you, by his own admission he was a twat!

applepieinthesky · 10/10/2012 19:23

Oh and I daren't say anything about it to my mum. She would never hurt an animal but at the same time doesn't really like them. She will be paranoid the dog will eat the baby or something Hmm Grin
