polSad shall i come and slap him for you? Grin

My poor dd2 has been very poorly. I took her to the G.P yesterday and got a wee shock when he saw her rash and started asking if i'd noticed any white spots in her mouth (as i know that indicates measles). He said he doesn't think it's measles as no white spots and not Rubella as her glands aren't swollen so probablt viral and calpol if she's uncomfy.

So she was o.k 'in herself' but today she's slept the day away and her temperature was over 100 so Calpol and a bath cooled her downSad. She seems a wee bit better now so i live in hope.

Happy Mothers Day everyone for tomorrow, for those with first baby in their tummy, how exciting, your first Mothers DaySmile+++++++++++++
For those of us with littlies already, we must all tell dp's a lie in and cooked breakfast is called for tomorrow......snort!!

pol25 · 25/03/2006 19:18

Hope everyone had a great day today , the weather was fab here and went out all morning!
Have a great mothers day those with children and those who are preg and no lil ones... next year there will be lovely pressies and cards!

intergalacticwalrus · 26/03/2006 13:04

Morning ladies,

Hope you are all having a lovely day. Don't get much chance to post on the ante natal threads v often as I am v busy with 15mo DS! (Who is currently rubbing tomato pasta into his hair. Nice) Can't quite believe I am 15 1/2 weeks already! It's going so much fater than last time!

Have been ill for the last couple of days with D&V, so I'm feeling pretty pants at the mo, but much better than before!

Hope you are all well

xxxxxx

compo · 26/03/2006 13:17

hi intergalacticwalrus - it's great we're all starting to feel slightly better isn't it?!!
So far have had a nice Mother's Day - we went out for breakfast. Ds had beans on toast which is his favourite and I got the Kiera Knightley version of Pride and Prejudice on dvd. Apparently there is a homemade card from nursery but it's still in the car!! Dh still suffering from man-flu Wink so we're both glad ds has gone down for his nap Grin

benjaminsmum · 26/03/2006 13:58

Hi
Having great Mothers Day. Dh got ds up and dressed and arrived in my bedroom with croissants, flowers and chocolates. Not bad! However he then went back to bed and left me to it, cant have it all I guess!

Ds is two and three months and yesterday I put him back in nappies as he didn't seem to be that interested in using the potty and I wanted to get out of the house but today he has asked for pants and has only had two accidents so far and has asked to use the potty every other time without having to be asked so fingers crossed.

Bought maternity jeans yesterday from Red Herring in Debanhams which are wonderful also only size 16 instead of 18 so yeah!

Also saw buggypod at local nursery shop and they have several concerns about how safe it is and is refusing to sell it at the mo. They are hoping the manufacturer will listen to concerns and make improvements in the next few months so if you are thinking of buying one best wait until the last mo to get any updated version. We love the idea but share the safety concerns.

Cori - lol at story, was it BA as husband few plane back from Madrid that day and I could have a word with him about not flying smoothly enough for you!

HellKat · 26/03/2006 14:43

Happy Mother's day all!

Bens- Good luck with the potty training! Sounds hopeful. I must admit, I was'nt convinced of the buggy pod's safety when I first saw them.
Angeliz- Hope your little sweety's feeling better today, poor little thing.
Inter- great to see you! I agree, this pg is flying, never thought it could go so quickly. Afew more weeks and we're halfway there.

Hi everyone else. Hope everyone's having a wonderful day. Getting dinner made for me as we speak. Dp does the best shepards pie mmmmmmmmmGrin

mabel1973 · 26/03/2006 19:08

Hi All

Hope you've had a good mothers day!
I got a card and pressies (no flowers - thank god - had enough of them yesterday making bouquets from 9 til 2pm)
Unfortunately both me and DS have come down with upset tummies this afternoon, not sure what's caused it.
I should hopeully get my triple test results this week. Want them to come so i can stop feeling anxious (hopefully).
I have also finally made an appontment with the doctor tommrow morning to hopefully sort out my deafness once and for all, I have been deaf since feburary followinga cold so Hoping they will syringe them or something.

Angeliz - how is your lo, any better?

puppy · 26/03/2006 20:19

Happy mothers day all, hope you had a good daySmile

Awwww intergalactic, mabel1973 and family hope you are feeling better soon.

Benjamins mum I will have to check out those jeans, are they over/under bump? I'm the same size and don't like the under bump as i hang out at the back when I bend over lol. Hope your dss' potty training goes well.

Awwww coriI really felt for you when reading your post about your fly home. I was in floods yesterday when watching Harry Potter of all things.

Well I got the best pressie last night- definate fetal movement I have had it few times today also, seems to be only when i am sat up. Dh got up with ds today and did a roast dinner for me too, then took me for new trainers as I can't wear anything else at the moment - I have flat feet and can be quite painful with boots or heeled shoes. He has also just bathed ds for me.

Coriander73 · 27/03/2006 08:57

Benjaminsmum...yes it was BA into Gatwick!!!! We had a very bumping landing too which nearly finished me off altogether!!!! Seriously, I think I got more worked up due to being pg etc & letting my mind work overtime. I travel all the time so I'm used to all sorts of flights etc but hey it just wasn't my afternoon!!

Breakthrough...today is the first day I feel more human! I don't want to say I'm 100% (although I've stopped being sick) but I'm feeling much happier in myself so hopefully at 15 + 3 it's coming to an end!!! Managed to actually hoover the stairs & clean our bedroom last night which was the first lot of housework I've done in over 4 months ish...:o

DD made me a card at nursery & "bought" me some tulips!!! We had a nice day together...DH worked all day. Hope you all had a nice day too :)

Coriander73 · 27/03/2006 09:10

BTW my bloods came back as being "low risk" for Downs or Spina Bifida.....It's interesting really as whilst I'm naturally pleased with DD I found out that I had a 1 in 300 chance of something being wrong but that it was considered low risk - MW says that if it's 1 in 250 then they call you back for futher tests etc. I'm interested to know what this score is but DH thinks I should just leave it....don't know what to do...as the bloods are only 70% accurate. Maybe he's right....maybe we just have to omuch information & start worrying ourselves stupid?

Also is anyone else sleeing badly? I keep waking at 4 ish & then just tossing & turning until 7. It's driving me mad!!!

mabel1973 · 27/03/2006 09:59

Hi everyone
cori - good news about your bloods and I think you're right sometimes we do end up making ourselevs anxious over too much information. I would just leave it unless it is really bothering you. Glad you are feeling better as well.
Well I have had a sh*tty morning so far, after yet another bout of upset tummy sat on the loo for half an hour this monring (TMI sorry) I had to drag myself to the doctots for a 9am appointment about my ear. He told me that it is clear and that I have a blocked middle ear, the only thing they can give me for it I am not allowed as I'm pg, so basically I have to keep holding my nose and blowing and if it doesn't clear I will have to put up with being deaf til I have the baby. Just wanted to cry - I know it's not life threatening but it is really getting me down the worst thing is that DS is learning to talk and half the time I can't hear what he's saying. Then to top it all it peeed it down on the way home, didn't have the rain cover so me and DS got thoroughly soaked.
So feeling V. Sorry r mself.... :(

HellKat · 27/03/2006 10:18

Morning all.
Mabel- Aww you poor thing! Have you thought about Hopi ear treatments? Basically it's a Ntaive American remedy. You lie on your side and a little candle type thing is placed in your ear. It's lit and as it warms up it gently draws out any wax, blockages etc from the ear. I would've thought it's safe while pg as you are'nt ingesting anything. Apparently it's meant to be heavenly, so relaxing some people fall asleep.
Here's some info:
What is a Hopi Ear Candle?

Ear candles are an ancient, mild and natural therapy and have been used by the Native American Indian for many years.

The Hopi candle is not a candle as such, but a hollow tube made out of cotton flax. To stiffen the flax, they are impregnated with extract of honey and herb oils (in particular chamomile, sage and St Johns wort), the healing properties of which have been known to the Hopi tribe for hundreds of years. The making of the candles is a complex process and all genuine Hopi candles are made in the traditional manner.

The Treatment

The treatment is very gentle and relaxing and may take up to an hour, depending on the condition being treated.

The candle is placed over the ear orifice and ignited. It is only allowed to burn to within 4 inches of the end of the candle. As it burns it produces a gentle local heat. The warm air combined with the oil and herbs soften the wax and draw it into the base of the candle. The candle is then removed and the ear and surrounding area is then massaged. The treatment is repeated on the other ear and then a complete facial massage is carried out, paying particular attention to the sinus areas.

What Conditions Can Ear Candles Help?

Ear candles can help with the treatment of sinusitis, rhinitis, earwax, earache and irritation of the ears including tinnitus. It is also suitable for the treatment of headaches and migraines. It is not suitable for those with perforated eardrums, where grommets are in place or those who may have an allergy to the ingredients. It is a safe and gentle treatment for children.

The number of treatments depends on how long the candle takes to burn down. Each treatment takes approximately 45 – 60 minutes and is very relaxing. It is advisable to put a few drops of warm olive oil in each ear for three days before treatment as this will help to soften the wax which will make it easier to remove. On the day of the treatment, you will be advised to remove all makeup and earrings

If you're interested, try googling it and see if there's a practioner in your area.
Puppy- I got definite kicks this weekend too!!!! Not big ol' hefty ones but little dainty nudges and it's non stop Grin
How's everyone else.

Normsnockers · 27/03/2006 10:30

Morning everyone.

Pol if you read some of the posts on the previous Sept 2006 thread you will see that I have an unsympathetic dh too.

Sorry about your feeling cr@p mabel.

Good news about the blood test results Coriander (and others) plus glad you'r feeling less sick.

Haven't felt any movement at all yet although I had a fat buddah belly before I got pregnant so maybe it's cushioning things a bit.

compo · 27/03/2006 11:19

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear about your ear Mabel Sad Dh off sick today so is getting in my way Grin
Cori - do you mind if i ask how old you are? I don't understand my blood test results either. I think overall it was 1 in 500 but don't really know what any of it means!! I would ask your midwife to clarify it for you otherwise you will keep on worrying

mabel1973 · 27/03/2006 11:52

HellKat thanks for the advice. I had considered ear candles and had started a thread about it. It seems some people swear by them and some people think there a load of twaddle but quite frankly I am willing to try anything!

Coriander73 · 27/03/2006 12:12

Compo I'm 33 in June! What she explained to me was that if the results show you as a 1 in 250 (not more...even if it was 251) you will be called back to be offered further testings etc. She said that 250 was their cut off point..but how they get to that I've no idea. I only found out that last time around it was 1 in 300 by reading my notes whilst in hospital which, rightly or wrongly, I thought was still incredibly low (not that I'd have been any the wiser had I not taken it upon myself to peep!!).......& my daughter is here safe & well.

Mabel, chin up! :)

Marls001 · 27/03/2006 21:10

Cori - I'm with you; wanted as much info as I could get on those tests; I have a cousin who has a child with Down's and used to work with Down's adults so I guess it hit close to home for me. Hope your mw can clarify everything for you. If you get a very good perinatologist who makes it his/her business just doing amnios day in and day out & is very familiar with the process, the chances of accidental misscarriage due to amnio can be as low as 1 in 400. Not great, but if you want absolute peace of mind, it's an option. With a dr. who just does them occasionally, can run 1 in 200. That's what I was told; we were planning on traveling to nearest large city (2 hours away) to get ours done by expert if necessary. Wasn't too worried since baby was so active on scan.

Also trouble sleeping here - am up 1-2 hours every night, usually 1 or 2 am to 3 or so - very, very itchy!! All over. Don't know why. Very frustrating trying to get back to sleep.

Mabel - So sorry to hear about your day yesterday. Hope candleing or something will work.

Went through my second carton of Whoppers today ... Still not feeling kicks ... Envy

HellKat · 28/03/2006 07:29

Morning all.
Marls- I'm with you on the itching!!!!! Driving me crazy. Had it with ds1 & 2.
Mabel- Glad to help hun.
How's everyone today?
Going for my triple test today, getting it over & done with. Weird how you never worry about it until you hit 30. I did'nt at all with ds2 (even though I was 29 when pg) but now that I'm 31, I seem to referred to as an "older" mum, bloody cheek lol I'm in my prime Grin

Lysettes · 28/03/2006 08:38

Morning everyone!

I'm itching too! everywhere! and waking up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. Also started having really vivid dreams again...

Mabel - the candleing thing is supposed to be amazing - I have a friend who is totally against all "hippy dippy" ideas (as she calls them) and was persuaded to have it done, and thinks it's great Smile

What another beautiful day today - spring might finally be here HURRAH!!!!

mabel1973 · 28/03/2006 10:17

Hi everyone

Just want to say thank you all for cheering me up _ i feel more positive today - although still deaf and intend to get the candling done - even if it doesn't work it won't do any harm.

I am still waiting for my triple test results, they didn't come in todays post. Hate this waiting around part - makes you so anxious.

Well I won't be around for a few days, we are having our bathroom ripped out tommrow and will have no water for a few days, so we are going to stay at my mums - which I am quite looking forward to as she can amuse DS for me when she gets home from work and give me a break. She also lives near quite a few old school mates, so I will get the chance to catch up with them.
If I don't get chance to post again today, I'll catch up with you all at the weekend! :)

HellKat · 28/03/2006 10:19

No probs Mabel, that's what we're here for Grin.
Even if it does'nt work, it's supposed to very, very relaxing.

I'm dreading the waiting game for my results.

Have a great time x

calvemjoe · 28/03/2006 11:58

Hello, Hope every one is ok. My modem's been broken for a week and I've had such bad mumsnet withdrawal! DS and I have had slapped cheek (which can cause miscarriage up to 20 weeks) so have been backwards and forwards to the drs to have bumps heartbeat checked, really paniced me, but I think we're all over it now.

DH forgot mothers day, so I spent sunday sobbing about what a bad mum I obviously am because I wasn't even worth a card. Made me very sad. He stil hasn't even got me anything and it's making me very down.

Mabel, I had a course of 6 earcandles to clear up sinusitus, they were great and I'd reccomend it to anyone. We brought our own candles after the 1st 3 treatments and dh did it for me to save money.

Marls and Hellkat, the itching is driving me mad. My skin is ver dry, so it's probably down to that so moisturising twice a day, but bump and boobs just itch all the time.

calvemjoe · 28/03/2006 11:59

Just read through my post, sorry about all the spelling mistakes, just one of those days! Blush

xoz · 28/03/2006 12:06

Hi everyone, I just thought I might finally get around to joining this thread. I found out in Jan that I'm expecting number 4 (2 DD's and a DS). A surprise pregnancy as DS is only 11 months old now, and it has taken me quite a while to believe it's true! I haven't been posting on MN for about a year now as we moved back to Australia from the UK and I just don't seem to get time anymore with 3 kids, but I'm going to try to get back on here a bit more.... I can dream about it anyway...I hope you're all well and enjoying being pregnant.
