Good news about lots of people hearing baby's heartbeat. I can't wait.

Ds has taken to waking between 5 and 6 a.m. after months of generally sleeping in until 7 a.m. or later.

I am getting tired from the early starts as dh might only try to deal with it once in a blue moon so ds just wants mummy because that's what he's used to.

Is anyone having trouble sleeping at night or is it just me with a mind that's racing away and can't switch off. I've always been a head on the pillow straight off to sleep person so this tossing and turning in bed and then waking in the night as well is a whole new experience. I slept well through my last pregnancy.

Dh still doesn't seem inclined to talk about his job situation and I don't want an argument/head snapped off if I raise the issue so we have an uneasy truce over the matter but I think he will look into other jobs and contact recruitment agencies. He can be quite a solitary person over these matters and he may well already be taking steps and just not discussing it until he has some news.

Bejaminsmum, how old is your ds ? Our ds is 3 and we have had several aborted attempts at pants and potty training but even nursery agreed he wasn't ready because after almost a week each time he still wasn't asking when he needed to go. He also held onto poo for 2 days the first time we tried and as soon as a nappy went back on he poo'd. I should get him out of nappies in the next 6 months (before new bub arrives) but I can't face the washing and changing poo'y pants until the sickness lifts a bit (still waiting). I'm pinning my hopes on getting it sorted when the weather picks up and maybe early summer when we can spend time in the garden with no nappy or pants and a handy potty. Hope he doesn't take after his dad who loves an alfresco wee when out in the countryside, never mind finding the nearest toilet.

Here's to restful Mother's Day weekends.

mabel1973 · 24/03/2006 11:12

Hi everyone

great news to hear about all these heartbeats - I have to say I found it very reassuring and feel properly pg now.
Angeliz hope your DD is ok!
Compo - I was told i was an ideal candidate for a homebirth as well - when I mentioned it to DH the look of horror on his face was enough for me to realise what a stupid idea it was.
Thinking about a water birth this time though.
Topbanana - look after yourself!!!
Pol - I've been reconsidering the buggypod idea - I had a look at the double buggies on ebay yesterday and i thought i could prob spend less on a buggy pod and still use my nice pram for the bubba.
My Dh met his mate for a drink after work yesterday and his wife is about 12 week pg, and he told my DH that HE (not just his wife) could feel the baby kicking already!! I said that was absolute rubbish (this guy has a tendancy to be a competitive dad - starting in the womb) - or am I being mean in not believing a word of it?!
16 weeks today!! Grin

mabel1973 · 24/03/2006 11:30

In case anyone's interested I've just searched the archives for Buggypod threads and quite frankly they sound like a nightmare and quite a few people were sending them back.
Back to the double buggy option then.....
Anyone knnow anything about Kidz Cargo buggies? There's quite a few on ebay but suspiciously cheap...

Bella23 · 24/03/2006 11:30

Mabel - agree, talk about competitive!! He must be the first man on the planet to feel a kick that early!!Grin

Coriander73 · 24/03/2006 12:27

What about the Maclaren twin techno? I've had a good look at the them as one of my distributors distribute them & they look quite good. They can recline fully for the newborn & are incredibly light & compact getting into the boot etc. Also I think you've got to ask yourselves how many times will you need to take them both out together in the same buggy? Perhaps still use the single buggy for first child, bubba in a sling? Maybe it want be as much as we're thinking...but maybe it will, I dunno!!!

Just have to share with you my mad hormonal moment yesterday! Was coming back from Madrid late afternoon when we had what I'd call severe turbulance for 25 mins. So there I am thinking be rational the plane is not going to fall out of the sky as a result of a bit of turbulance but the more I tried to calm myself down the more het up I got. Suffice to say I sat there cuddling my tummy, sobbing sliently whilst everyone looked at me (& the more they looked the more embarassed I got & the more I cried anyhow). The plane meanwhile was really swaying from side to side so then my mind went into overdrive....I'll never see my DD again, she'll never remember who I am anyhow, DH will marry again & DD will call someone else Mummy! Oh my God I tell you every possible permutation went through my head....When the seatbelt signs went off I rushed to the toilet only to be confroted by a caring soul who asked if I was a nervous traveller to which I sobbed "I'm pregnant & my other baby is at home fast asleep & want see me again!"...then the air hostess come over & tried to reassure me (bearing in mind there is no turbulance at this point!) by saying that "oh it was a bit bumpy for a while, we could hardly hang onto our drinks trolleys!!!!" So, got home sobbed some more with DH trying hard not to laugh & patting me on the back etc. I tell you I was really out of it by the time I got to bed!!!!!!! What a drama queen...Jesus...:o

mabel1973 · 24/03/2006 13:50

oh dear cori - def one to blame on the hormones Wink

I think I really need to decent double buggy - I live in a village and don't have my own car so walk to playgroup, shops etc, usually do a couple of miles every day. I'll check out that maclaren one.

pol25 · 24/03/2006 14:43

Aww poor you Cori!!! I can totally sympathise with you, I would've been the same.
Am going to look back on the buggy pod htreads and see what I think, still am struck on it tho.
The maclaren is light and folds pretty small for a double... and is suitable from newborn but Ijust really don't want one at all...

Normsnockers · 24/03/2006 14:46

Oh Corainder, your hormones must be wearing you out emotionally.

Hope Mothers Day isn't too emotionally trying for you.

compo · 24/03/2006 14:47

Sad Cori - glad you survived your ordeal!!
I think we're going to see how it goes with a buggy board (ds will be 2.6) and a sling. Then when we go into town if ds is fed up with the buggy board or being a pain wanting to run off I'll keep the sling in the bottom of our pushchair and put the baby in it and strap ds into pushchair. If this turns out to be a diaster i will hot foot it to Mothercare and buy the most light weight double pushchair I can find!

pol25 · 24/03/2006 14:54

Decided to still go for the buggy pod... feeling quiet confident, although brain already dwinddling now i'm pregnant. Yesterday could not remeber my Gran's foster son's name at all... ended up calling my sister at 10pm to ask her as I knew if I didn't wouldn't sleep.
Feel confident that i'll be able to fit it easily. We had a baby bjorn for our DD and I lived in it! maybe this baby will like it too and then some times DD can have a comfy seat in her old buggy but in the mean time she needs to make the most of the comfy ride. I know the buggy pods are v. upright, although she spends most of her time hanging out anyhow.
REALLY waiting now for bubba to come. Not sure if this morning felt a kick. Felt like a big spring pinging in my roll of fat... and woke DP up to tell him, he grunted and went back to sleep... was 4am tho. I'll be 16 weeks on Monday, is it possible or was it just abit of wind brewing...? It did feel like bubba tho... or am I just hoping!

mabel1973 · 24/03/2006 15:11

Pol - I think you should buy one now - give it a test run and then write us a review on it....! Wink

We have got friends coming for the day tommorow and I really should be tidying the house, but I can't be bothered!
and have got 6 mothers day bouquets to do.......

pol25 · 24/03/2006 15:15

Grin mabel... Going to order one soon and will let you all know if it's any good!
Have a woman coming round about me childminding her son on Sunday and I should begin to do some thing but do not have the inclination to so just gonna sit on here until DD wakes up!

mabel1973 · 24/03/2006 15:42

pol - you amd me are on the same wavelength this afternoon!

Have just gone round with the hoover, now if I can just stop the cats jumping on the window sills with their muddy paws and DS from smearing petit filous all over the furniture, it'll do til next week!
Hasn't anyone invented a self cleaning house yet ffs!

Lysettes · 24/03/2006 16:56

Benjaminsmum - well done for your heartbeat - that's great!

Mabel - totally agree - you're not mean at all! I just love people like that Grin

Cori - you poor thing, you must have been so scared. completely hormonal (of course if anyone else said that we could shoot them!)

I'm not waking up in the night, bu I'm not needing very much sleep - bed at 11 and waking up at 5. Normally I can sleep for britain Blush

back at home today after obstetrics clinic showed up high b pressure again today...... more blood tests, but at least I got to do my triple test at the same time!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and enjoy your mothering sundays everyone who is already a mummy

HellKat · 24/03/2006 17:15

Hita all.
Pmsl Cori!!!! Slightest thing sets me off now. Funniest one was pg with ds2. We did'nt have a washing machine so there was me (heavily pg) bent over the bath tub, washing sheets and sobbing & waíling like a banshee because i'd spilt water on the floor Grin.

At the mo I think i'd be wrecked if I did'nt manage to grab a quick kip in the afternoon. Always been a bad sleeper but this is awful. I'm not getting more than 1hr1/2 solid stretch of sleep a night, the rest is waking, fidgeting, dozing etc. Grrrrr. It'll be fine when babba gets here as i can go back to 4/5 cups of strong coffee a day Grin.

Hope everyone else is great! xxx

HellKat · 24/03/2006 17:16

Forgot to add i'm thinking of a buggy board for ds2 as he'll only be 2 n 1/2 when baby's born. Anyone rate them well?

Marls001 · 24/03/2006 20:21

Cori - It's so great of you to have a sense of humor about it! ... we all have those days ...

Mabel - Re: your DH's barmate's idea of feeling the kicking: Yeah, right Grin I'm 16 weeks yesterday, and absolutely nothing! ... Lay quiet and still last night and poked at the belly trying to get a reaction: still nothing!

Wanting soon to appear pregnant and not just fat. (Hellkat, when it happens I'll be looking for Palmer's Cocoa butter!)

Having been looking at the strollers and etc. - buggypod, Emmalunga and others can't be found in the US. DH & I are going to London mid-April on a last big romantic vacation - I'm getting psyched for shopping, & not just for baby things! Probably safer I can't buy clothes now ... I can buy shoes though! Grin

pol25 · 24/03/2006 21:40

Feeling cheesed off, DP has come home tonight with the hump... didn't help DD was painting and was everywhere... all wipeable I might add and she is fully washable! So had a bag on about that and then of course DD hates having to put the paint away and sobbed. He just leaves her in higchair crying, not trying to help at all while I run around moving stuff out of her reach as just let her wash her hands in bowl of water and now was getting rather wet... So here I am running round like a mad thing, DD crying and DP stood just looking at us!!! GRR!
Said did he want to go in the bath with her... Yes,No,Yes,No followed!!! GRR number two!
In the end I bathed her, settled her, got her ready for bed, did stories etc... while he just sat there watching richard and bloody judy!!! then the simpsons! GRR number three!
does anyone else's DP not realise after being up from 6.30am with a 19month old... it is tiring even when you're not preg! Does any one else's DP/DH not help out- please say they are all as insensitive, or i'm likely to cry!

TopBanana · 24/03/2006 21:49

Men!! Sorry you've had a bad day. Leave him with dd for a day and see how he copes Grin or next time let her wipe her painty hands all over him!!
Dps quite good with things like that but he does leave stuff (crisp packets, playstation games, socks etc) everywhere and creates loads more work for me!!

Marls001 · 25/03/2006 01:34

Pol - Hope you reiterated that to him; sounds like he needs to hear it over & over!!!

Don't understand why he wouldn't already get it!! Honestly.

Forgot to say Compo - Congratulations!!! on your
sreen test numbers!! 1 in 18,000 is excellent; wow!

HellKat · 25/03/2006 08:27

Morning all.
What a gorgeous day to put everyone in a fab mood! Grin.
Mild here with bright blue skies and brilliant sunshine ahhhhhhhhhhh.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. xxxxxxx

oinker · 25/03/2006 08:37

HK....

Get back to chat girlie Wink

TopBanana · 25/03/2006 11:06

Its so nice outside! Just took dd to the park for the first time in ages and she loved it Smile
Could feel the baby moving when I went to bed last night Grin thats the first time and I'm 15+3 weeks. Was dead chuffed!!

compo · 25/03/2006 14:49

Hi everyone. Pol - I can fully sumpathise. My dh is ill at the moment with bad head, sore throat etc but it's hard to be sympathetic when you're being kept awake all night by hos snoring as well as needing to go to the loo. And I still feel really nauseous and am often sick in the evenings so him moaning about being ill when I've felt like crap for about 10 weeks doesn't help!!

OP posts:
Lysettes · 25/03/2006 17:52

Pol - you poor poor thing - maybe next time you should just give him the list of what needs doing and you watch richard and bloody judy and make him get on with it.....

compo - does he have man flu? Grin

it was a wonderful day here - sunglasses even out for the first time this year, however true to form it's been p'ing down all afternoon...

have a great mothers' day everyone and let those dp's and dh's spoil you rotten tomorrow!
