Morning girls.
Compo- Good luck today! I've got mine at 2pm. They should be able to hear the heartbeat but they say around 16 wks for definite because it's easier for them to find and does'nt stress out the parents when they can't hear it. I managed to get mine done twice so far with a dopplar at the hospital both at 12 wks.
Wood- Great news!!!!!!!
Bella- yay finally you got seen!!!!!
Pols- I got awful stretchmarks with ds1 but did'nt get any with ds2. It's to do with weight gain & loss. The quicker you gain (or lose it) that's when you get them. I had a wonderful steady gain with ds2 and that's why I got lucky. Still have them though and I found the best cream (tones, moisturises and smells to die for) is Palmers Cocoa butter. It's recommended for stretchmarks and it's fab!! Only a couple of quid too, lasts forever and smells of choclate!
I guarentee all of you will get addicted to the smell lol Grin.

Well this cutting out crap malarky I did seems to have paid off slightly. Feel less lardy and more pg iykwim. Never knew I'd enjoy snakcing on healthy stuff so much. Still having treats occasionly though Wink

How's everyone today?

Bella23 · 23/03/2006 09:40

Morning everyone

Hellkat (and anyone else who has bled in their pregnancy) – need some words of comfort for my friend
She is nearly 15 weeks and started bleeding a lot yesterday morning. She went to A&E and they scanned her and the baby looks fine along with everything else but they put her on a drip as her BP was low after losing blood etc.
They have no idea where the blood was coming from and its seems to have nearly stopped so hopefully it has by now.
The consultants basically said that everything appeared ok but they couldn’t offer any guarantees.
This can happen and everything still go ahead as fine??? Any words of wisdom ??

HellKat · 23/03/2006 09:45

Hiya Bella.
Poor thing! I've never bled heavily this late on in pg but did spot with ds1 & 2. At this stage, if it was coming from the placenta then they should be able to see it (as the pg is quite advanced). They did'nt know where mine was coming from and guessed it was excess womb lining. The fact that it came & went so quickly sounds hopeful. Was she in pain? Why don't you start a thread in pg section asking if anyone's suffered bleeding in 2nd trimester? Might be a good idea. There has to be someone who's had it.
Here's wishing her all the best. x

Bella23 · 23/03/2006 09:51

Thanks Hellkat - yes they could see it definately wasn't coming from the placenta, so that's good news.
Good idea, will start a thread in pregnancy section.
Just after some reassurance for her really as she looked so shocked when I saw her yesterday, bless her.

HellKat · 23/03/2006 09:53

It's so awful. Especially when there's lots. I remember how I felt. Poor thing. Here's to her having no more bleeding and worry xxxxxx

puppy · 23/03/2006 09:55

Hi Bella I have had spotting throughout this pregnancy but not heavy mine was due to a extra chrionic haemorrhage which is like a bruised area, its bleeding within the uterus but outside of the gestational sac and healed by itself this was shown on a scan I had at 6 weeks. Then a low lying placenta has caused the spotting I have more recently experienced. I have had not spotting for a fortnight now.
Alot of women have bleeding in pregnancy and everything turns out to be ok. I agree with Hellkat try pop a post on the other board.

Best wishes to your friend.

Benjamins mum how are things, been thinking of you

puppy · 23/03/2006 09:57

Oops need to learn to type faster lol

HellKat · 23/03/2006 09:58

Lol Hiya Pup hun!

puppy · 23/03/2006 09:59

Hi hk how is this lovely sunny day treating you?

compo · 23/03/2006 12:26

Bella - sorry to hear about your friend, hope everything is okay.
My midwife appointment went really well - she found it really hard to find the heartbeat and I only heard it for a few seconds, she was really pressing down on my tummy - ow!!
The blood tests were all fine and that combined with my age (31) and nuchal fold scan means there is 1:10393 chance of anything being wrong, also one of the triple test results was 1:18437!! No idea what all the tests are for but everything is fine!!
When do people see their midwife again - I don't until 21 weeks, after the next and last scan. I'm sure last time it was every 4 weeks but things seemed to have changed so much in 2 years!!

Great news Compo

Puppy - yes must admit to feeling very upbeat now that the sun is shining - ye ha !!

Bella23 · 23/03/2006 12:34

Sorry forgot to add thanks for all support for my friend xx
I am sure all will be fine with her, just horrible to watch someone be so worried

Woodelf · 23/03/2006 12:39

Hi Compo! Won't gt another scan till 20weeks now. Bump small but v defined and solid - the cat seems to want to jump on it all the time tho.

Have been told to book midwife again at 16w ie week after next. There's nearly a week discrepancy between my lmp date and the scans tho - due date anything from 23 sep to 16th!

Still feel really tired, bit sicky and hungry but don't know what for - oh when does the energy come back and this 'blooming' thing?
Told boss woman yesterday as I thought she had already been told by my line mgr about pg. She said she thought I was looking a bit washed out and I said being pg had a lot to do with it! Her face! I pmsl nearly as it looked like someone had dropped a brick on her foot...Grin. I'm on secondment atm looking after teenage mums/mums to be and was due to return to being a Connexions Personal Adviser in August - like that's going to happen now hee hee...

homemama · 23/03/2006 12:50

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well. Great that so many of you are starting to hear the heartbeats! Bella, hope your friend is ok!

Sorry I haven't had a chance to read back all the posts, so forgive me if I've missed anything important. Blush I'm still quite sick and looking at the screen for too long or watching telly for more than an hour makes me worse.

I noticed you were discussing double buggys. Does anyone know anything about the Phil and Teds? I'm quite keen as it's the same width as a standard buggy but DH is concerned that the newborn part is too exposed and close to the ground. We're quite rural and we do a lot of walking so I really want something easy to handle if indeed, such a double buggy exists.

I still need some jeans!!! Despite my weight loss, I have quite a pronounced bump. Hate the next ones I got last time so any recommendations?

Great about your bloods results, Compo! I saw the MW for booking at 10wks and don't see her again until 21wks (after my scan). Last time which was only 2004, I booked at 8wks, seen again at 13wks, then at 16wks for triple test etc. MW told me they've recently cut right back on appointments. Glad this isn't my first.

Norms, hope you're not too sick. Hope everyone else is over the sickness! Grin

Lysettes · 23/03/2006 16:57

Hi everyone, hope everyone's enjoying the brief smattering of sun we've had today!

Bella - am thinking of your friend, and will keep fingers crossed that all ok Smile

Woodelf - great for your heartbeat - I have an energy surge, but not blooming, still nice and pimply...

Has anyone looked at the mountain buggy range?

Agree with HK the Palmers range is great - the spray oil is very chocolatey, and not greast at all.

Homemama - you poor thing, feel better soon although a shame watching TV makes you feel sick Grin

re midwife appointments, Queen Charlotte's seems to be all consultant led and at ANC appointments it's always with a consultant - I have no idea who is going to be delivering my lo - what does everyone think about consultant led care? You hear these stats about it being more likely to have intervention but we don't seem to have a choice. Saying that, I've been in every four weeks since 9 weeks, and at one point it was every two weeks. Also because of the high b pressure I am having an extra scan at 25 weeks to monitor (my 20 wk scan is at 21 wks).

Am at obstetrics clinic tomorrow so fingers crossed the b pressure is ok.

Also sorry, it's another marathon post from me Blush

HellKat · 23/03/2006 17:04

Hiya all.
Mw appointment went well. She had a trainee midwife with her and much to her relief found the heartbeat straightaway.
From now on I've got 4 weekly appointments with the mw. But I've got my next consultants appointment 2 weeks time (that may be 4 weekly from now on to depending on whether or not they want to carry on doing swabs).
Wow was'nt it gorgeous today! Relatively mild too.
Hope everyone's well.
Have a great night girls. xxxxx

Compo- Great news about your results x

TopBanana · 23/03/2006 17:38

Hi, sorry I haven't posted for ages, boss has been keeping me busy! Every time I log on he finds something for me to do Grin
Hope everyone’s well, had a quick read through all the posts but theres loads!! Congrats on all the scans and heartbeats.
Went to the doctors today because I keep fainting all over the place! He checked my blood pressure sitting down which was fine but checked it standing up and it plummeted!! So gotta sit down all the time now Grin

compo · 23/03/2006 18:55

Oh no Topbanana - at least you have an excuse to get lots of rest though Grin
I think consultant-led care sounds great. My midwife wants me to go to the local birthing unit but as they don't offer epidurals, c-sections etc I don't fancy an ambulance ride just in case I need one. I don't like the idea of there being no doctors/obstrecians on hand so am going to go to another hosptital half an hours drive away

OP posts:
compo · 23/03/2006 18:57

oh yes, she also said at one point 'what about a home birth'!!!! I know they work really well for some people but there's no way that's for me - I want all the expertise at hand. I think I feel this way because ds was very closely monitored during the birth - he had a monitor attached to his head at one point!! It was because he had the cord twice round his neck and then under his arm as well so got a bit stuck!! I also loved my epidural last time although will see how it goes this time.

Angeliz · 23/03/2006 19:42

Good to hear HellKatSmile
I had my app today too with the midwife. She asked why i was there???and i said 'for a 16 week appointment i was told'. She then said it must be to take blood for the triple test and i explained that i didn't want tat test, was only there for a check up. She said they doin't see woen at 16 weeks but when i asked she let me listen to the heartbeat anyway so all was forgiven.Smile
First time i've heard it and made me smile.
Didn't even take my blood pressure or anything!

How queer!!Grin

TopBanana, hope you're feeling o.k. You need some good books while you do all this sitting. I am reading 'The constant Gardener' at the moment. It's very good.

Angeliz · 23/03/2006 19:43

I considered breaifly a homebirth compo. Apparently i mae noises like a wild animal though so i don't want to scare the dd'sShock

benjaminsmum · 23/03/2006 20:26

Hi
Thanks for all your thoughts. I survived yesterday without any deaths so Yeah! We heard the heartbeat straight away so extremely relieved and had to swallow down the tears. I have definately felt it move today which was great. I am next being seen for the twenty week scan and then at twentyfive weeks at the midwifes. Not sure about after that.

Been in all day today as have put ds into pants today for the first time. Only four accidents and many wees on the potty. I put him on every half an hour much to his disgust and by the end of the day he was asking to go. My only concern is that he hasn't pooed since this morning and usually goes several times a day, but hey it saved me clearing up the mess. So here goes for tomorrow.

Glad others are getting hertbeats too.

A friend has a Phil and Teds buggy for her two year old and three week old. She says it is brilliant but I have my doubts as the baby seems very close to the ground and car exhust fumes. It also looks very tight on space underneath for when he is a bit bigger. We have an Emmalunga buggy from when I childminded which has a toddler seat that fits on top of the buggy like the old fasioned prams had. Although hopefully ds will walk most of the time by then as will be nearly three.

Anyway long post from me again but lots to catch up on.

pol25 · 24/03/2006 08:42

Morning all!
Feeling pretty wide awake this morning- no idea why... But maybe it was last night I had no dreams about anything terrible! Yeah!
Seem to be geeting fatter by the second tho and feeling alittle swollen... joy i'm gonna have elephant feet again with this bubba!
Hope you're all well and 'resting' as much as you can with minx-y children and work!

Angeliz · 24/03/2006 09:44

resting? What's that?
DD2 was up nearly all night, found it hliarious to have a chat and headbutt me (affectionately) during the night!
Am shattered.
I realised this morining that she's covered in a rash of some sort tooSad ALL over her, she has an appointment at 11. Didn't rush to A+E as there are no other symptoms.

SIGH!

Bella23 · 24/03/2006 10:47
