Asur - congratulations on the birth of you baby, i had exactly the same labour experience with my first baby, so i know what you went through, which is why i'm a little scared this time.

Alicats - congratulations on the birth of you baby, it sounds like you've had more to cope with than most, times a great healer, you just take care of yourself and that precious baby :) X

7 days to go......My belly has dropped loads, when i'm standing my belly rests on my legs, which gave me severe back ache last night, i said to my partner that my belly looked a funny shape, i was hoping something was gonna happen but no such luck. How everyone feeling today?

:):):)

AbiGilby · 16/05/2006 09:30

Congratulations to Kittenpaws, Asur and *Alicats.

Alicats* I’m sure your Mum is watching over you and bursting with love for you both. I love the name, Mark Antony, it’s very Roman!

sniff · 16/05/2006 09:38

congratulations the babys are coming think and fast

I am really uncomfy too tummy is so low I can hardly walk and still no sign I have tried all the natural methods of inducement its a bit like playing twister though its the school holidays in a week and a half and I really wanted to spend it as a family not with me in hospital I dont think I have ever been so impatient in all of my life

Schmoo · 16/05/2006 09:38

Congratulations on all the new arrivals, sounds like some of you have really been through the mill. Hope you all have time to reflect and remind yourselves how absolutely bloomin' marvellous you are :) The feat your bodies have undergone in sustaining and then delivering a beautiful new life is amazing.

Lol at all our antics to progress into labour! Am at the stage where I'm willing to try pretty much anything mentioned ...... but nothing working so far.

runtus · 16/05/2006 10:37

Just back from Doctors, all fine but nothing moving yet...........boo. Got another appointment booked for next Friday, when I'll be 2 days over. He reckons at that point an internal exam might kick things off and if not, I'll be induced when I'm 10 days over. God I hope I go pop by that time.

Going for a walk with my friend after lunch to try and jig things about a bit and then maybe another lap tonight with DP. He really loves those, not Grin.

Will be back on the pineapple today, if I can get my mouth to calm down after yesterdays eating fest but think I'll skip the nipple tweaking as I'm still too sore to think about it again!

fenny1 · 16/05/2006 11:11

Hooray for all the babies Grin Well Done Girls!
Well D-Day came and went yesterday, no movement of the significant kindSad
Off for sweep in couple of hours so we will see what happens.
Pineapple off my list as I now have a mouth full of ulcers! Chillies not working either.
Baby so low now that my SPD is back with a vengence so nights are pergatory and sex is out of the question (think DP was a bit disappointed, even in my current state something would have been better than nothingGrin)
Been having cuddles with my friends 'big boy' who is now 2 weeks old and over 11lbs. He's lovely but HUGE!!
Went out with NCT peeps last night for meal which was lovely, got a good 'massive' bumps pic.

bubbles28 · 16/05/2006 14:04

Congratulations to all the new little bundles, it's so exciting to hear about them all and helps to keep those of us still waiting to keep going!!!!
Nothing much to report here, i think bump has started to drop lower and am definitly having more Braxton Hicks and had quite strong 'Period Pains' last night so thought something might start to happen but then no more!!!!Tried Thai curry but it just made me feel uncomfortable and grumpy!!!! Have booked another Reflexology appointment for Thursday, hope that might help to encourage little bump....

Hope you're all feeling okay.Smile

pennytiff · 16/05/2006 14:38

More congratulations to all the new arrivals . . can not wait to join you.Smile
1 day over and thought that everything was kicking off last night as I started to have tightenings every half hour. Also had really bad runs to the loo.

Once I had gone to bed, I woke up completely dripping with sweat Blush because I had period pains. But this morning I decided to go to Yoga and the tighenings are less regular and less painful than last night and still had no 'show'.
I know it's the start of everything but just want to be sure that I am well underway before I call anyone.
Keep ignoring my phone when friend's call and have let DH go to work. No point in us both waiting.
Might have to try the conventional method this evening Wink

Dunnyjo · 16/05/2006 15:18

Congrats on new arrivals! [simle]

I am 38wks and so far (through scans showing) the baby has been in he head down possition, always felt the same regular movements now today though its all down below. I have to move my leg because i can feel hand/foot/elbow? move across Shock when the baby moves i get horrendous sharpe pains down below too. Is this normal? do you think the baby would have moved possition now? I hope not, i dont want another surprise emergancy c. Do you think this is anything to worry about?

momamia · 16/05/2006 15:31

dunnyjo - i've been getting the same sort of pains as you, i think its completely normal, i put it down to the baby being on a nerve, because last night i was getting loads of pressure and shooting pains up my bum(which sounds really nice). I think its just all part of being pregnant.

Hopefully we will have some more babies born soon, and i hope that one of those babies is mine!!!! I want her now!!!
I'm gonna try and kick start things tonight and have a bit of lovin see if it does any good, Wink

runtus · 16/05/2006 16:01

Dunnyjo - We had our NCT classes at the weekend and the lady taking them was talking about the shooting pains you mention. All totally normal and to be expected in the last stages, so try not to worry. I've been having them for about 3 weeks and not gone bang yet so you should be ok I reckon.

Not the most comfy feeling in the world though eh?!

Dunnyjo · 16/05/2006 16:26

god no they are not Shock they are awful!
Just phoned a mw and told her about the baby moving down below and that i think its moved posittion. I dont feel so heavy for a start and i said i dont want another surprise c. She said there is nothing that can be done at this stage and to go see doc tomorrow a.m. Great so if it has moved what now? will they book me in for c? i was hoping to go naturally Sad

plama · 16/05/2006 16:29

Well done and congratulations to Alicats, Asur, Kittenpaws and Evilstepmum on the safe arrivals of Mark, Hamish, Max and Rose. I'm still waiting and not due til Saturday. Am tempted to try reflexology though. Even if it doesn't kick things off, at least it's nice and relaxing!
I am enjoying reading all your name choices. We have chosed our boys name but are struggling with the girl (we don't know the sex) as we used our favourite with DD. Did some gardening today and am hoping that all that bending over will put baby in a good position(DD was back to back) Also sitting on birthing ball lots, but have to prise it off DD who thinks rolling on it is just the best game ever!!!
Good luck to all the others patiently (or impatiently) waiting.

Imafairy · 16/05/2006 16:42

Welcome to all the new babies - Alicat, glad you're enjoing your little boy - hope he can make the difficult time of losing your mum be a bit less painful.
Well went for another sweep today, and inducution is booked for middle of next week, when I'll be 41+4. Am annoyed with the midwives - the whole point of me having sweeps early is because DS was large, and at the 34 week scan the consultant said that this one was going to be big, and that if I wanted any chance of being able to push it out I shouldn't let it go too far over the due date. When I told the midwives that at my subsequent appts they all said that was fine, yet on Friday and today I had to fight to get the sweeps. And then today the bloody mw's comment to me was "well you've already pushed out a big one, so you're obviously able for it" which is fair enough, but I went through a v long labour, and it took me a long time to recover after.
Sorry - just needed to rant - am feeling a bit low Sad, but hopefully will feel better later.

runtus · 16/05/2006 16:48

Sorry to hear the MW's aren't being overly helpful, I find the same thing with mine to be honest. Drives you mad doesn't it? I would def keep up the pressure though, as it is you that has to go through the ordeal of giving birth to a 'big one' not them............let them do it if they want to but you have the right not to out yourself through that for no reason. Esp if the Consultant has said the very thing to you already.

Kepp up that pressure I say!

bubbles28 · 16/05/2006 20:39

Imafairy..... I feel so cross on your behalf, it's horrible to feel like the 'Professionals' who are supposed to be caring for you are being so relaxed about what is an extremely emotional time..... Is there any way you could see your Consultant again? It definitely helped us when we were going through our Breech/Caesarean dilemmas and our Consultant was more than happy to make time for us, it's definitely worth being a bit of a pain with them, after all it's your body and your Baby.
plama..... I can strongly recommend Reflexology, I had a treatment last week and have another booked for Thursday. The Therapist certainly seems to think she can help to get things moving..... and as you said if it doesn't directly encourage Labour it does make you feel AMAZING!!!!Wink
Had a sudden panic today that I haven't done enough preparation for Labour or for being a Mummy, I'm sure that's normal though isn't it????
Hope everyone else is feeling okay xx

fenny1 · 17/05/2006 07:48

Disappointed Sad
After sweep yesterday at 1pm, where MW said I was 50% effaced and various other stuff about my cervical opening(!), I experienced 8 hours v severe period pain, 6 hours mild erratic contractions and then it all stopped.
Knew it wasn't a cert but do feel a bit down this morning as it all felt as though it was going in right direction. Now have appointment booked for next Tues for Induction, which will mean hospital delivery, not home, so I am willing this child out ASAP.
Hope the rest of you are keeping positive - I'm trying.

nez · 17/05/2006 08:51

Oh Fenny! You hang in there! Message to all the comfy babies: I know it's lovely and cosy, but please come out as soon as you're ready as your mummies want to meet you properly!
D-day today for me so I may have worse to come. MW appnt today too. nerve wrecking, isn't it?
Have decided not to let what other (well meaning) professionals and busybody peeps say to me too much. Have had lots of conflicting advice, perhaps too much advice. Found that watching comedy with DH, a nice bath and some (rather unromantic)nooky did the trick and I actually slept for 4 hours in a row: hoorah. Won't even start with hospital/physio/ as I'm livid and trying to stay chilled! !
Positive vibes to you all. Will think of you when I attempt a "meditiation" later.

momamia · 17/05/2006 08:57

Hi everyone, it sounds like you all are getting fed up now including me, i've got 6 days to go, another MW appointment tomorrow, hopefully baby is still in the correct position. Keep Positive everyone, the babies are nearly here just a few more days. :)

runtus · 17/05/2006 09:18

Not sure if I am imagining it or not but I think my bump may have dropped down quite a bit..........that can only be a good thing surely?!

Going to spend the day on my ball again, in between last minute jobs and see if that makes for any further progress.

Had a word with baby this morning as well, pointed out that he doesn't have to be like Daddy and wait till the last minute. He could be like me and be early for everything - PLEASE!

nez · 17/05/2006 09:42

Runtus; being on time etc same as me! Grin

Told a child that I talked to the baby and they said. "I don't think they can actually understand you though." Bless!

runtus · 17/05/2006 09:44

Does anyone else feel sick? I've been a bit sicky and light headed all mnorning and can't seem to shake it.....I'll try and up my fluid levels and see if it helps.

Imafairy · 17/05/2006 09:58

Thanks for your messages yesterday - just needed to know I wasn't being totally unreasonable!
runtus - could be a sign!!!!!! Drink lots of water, and get lots of rest - forget about those last minute jobs for a while. Maybe your little one was listening to you this morning after all Wink.

fenny1 · 17/05/2006 10:00

I've been feeling sick for last couple of days. Last night couldn't eat tea (V unusual for me!). Am eating apricots and drinking gallons today as I really don't fancy the whole pooing during birth scenario if I can avoid it. Star jumping round house on advice of friend (well in as far as my SPD will allow).
Mum and aunt coming over to keep me company - not usre who is more excited about this babySmile But we haven't had one in the family for 14 years so I suppose they have waited long enough!

fenny1 · 17/05/2006 10:13

Forgot to say, having not weighed myself for months (just couldn't see the point) Ithought it would be a giggle (!?!) to jump on yesterday at the MW as I figure I'm not going to get much heavier in the next week or two. Started at 11 adn half stone. Now weight a mighty 14 and just over half!!!! Blush
Breastfeeding better make it drop off like i've been promised Wink
