Hi Everyone.
Well had a sweep on Friday, and curry and champagne last night, but still nothing stirring! Am feeling pretty rotten because of blasted hayfever and general niggles, but trying to make sure I get enough rest.
Am going back for another sweep on Tuesday, and at that stage they'll book me in for my induction which I guess will be end of the week. However I am hoping and that I'll be posting a birth announcement before it gets to that Grin.

Fenny IMO a sweep isn't that bad - just like having a smear done.

Have already had two lots of in-laws on the phone wondering if there is any news - bloody hell, I was only due yesterday. Fortunately my family knows better than to do that!!

Positive birth vibes to everyone out there.....

x

and for all of those who are despairing that babies will never appear - quote from my midwife at 4pm, wed 10 May, attempting a sweep.
"oh i cant do it, your cervix is much too high, no baby soon i'm afraid"
...1.30am thursday may 11th...less than 12 hours later...ouch...contraction...
see they don't know it all!!!!
best of luck....xxxx

evilstepmom · 14/05/2006 21:40

evilstepmom · 14/05/2006 21:43

momamia · 15/05/2006 08:33

8 days to go.........I'm not feeling my best today i keep getting stomach ache, not getting much sleep, i feel really exhausted :(

How's everybody else feeling?

Trying to remain positive that it will happen soon, i suppose she won't come until she is ready.

Speak to you all later
:)

runtus · 15/05/2006 09:12

Hi all, yep we are still here and waiting too...........seems like lots of us have had pretty impatient weekends then! Still nothing stirring over here with 9 days to go, off to buy a pineapple later on and then maybe make a hot curry too........so bored now. Just want to get on with it.

Already started to get 1/2 texts a day saying "no news yet"? I can't cope with that for another 3 weeks, I'll kill someone!

sniff · 15/05/2006 09:47

no news here either hips are killing me even on short walk to school!! bump is so low and I want to meet her I have sent my in laws home they drove me mad and and are so untidy

congratulations evilstepmom x x

AbiGilby · 15/05/2006 09:56

Congratulations evilstepmom and welcome Rose. If we’d have had a girl, Rose would have been her middle name (it’s my favorite girl’s name, but DH doesn’t like it so much, so the compromise was that it could be the middle name!)

Schmoo · 15/05/2006 10:52

Congrats to you evilstepmom, well done.

Total empathy with all of you drumming fingers, hobbling uncomfortably and sleeplessness.

Sniff, you certainly are suffering, poor you. I had diahorrea with my 2nd and it seemed to work like castor oil in that after two days of rushing to the loo, I went into labour ... so you never know, could be a good sign Wink

Runtus, know what you mean. I've had so many comments and questions for last couple of weeks 'cos my bump is so ridiculously huge ... I almost feel embarrassed that I'm still pregnant!

pennytiff · 15/05/2006 10:53

Congratulations evilstepmum on your little bundle.Grin

Well today is d-day and I am feeling so upset that nothing has started yet Sad. So I hope something is happening with you Fenny. Let me know if the sweep works. Got the pineapple and raseberry leaf tea as I type.

For those of you are unable to sleep, I've got to say that once the baby had dropped I felt I could sleep better and was far more comfortable. I just wake up now with a miserable feeling that I have no signs of seeing my little bundle.

This site is keeping me sane because I know everyone else tends to feel the same Smile

Got to stop watching Discovery Health, can't stop crying everytime there is a birth.

momamia · 15/05/2006 11:25

i know what you mean pennytiff i'm constantly watching Discovery Health aswell, i keep scaring myself though watching all the births, some seem easy and others are really frightening, especially the ones where they have to use the forceps...dont fancy that at all.

runtus · 15/05/2006 12:08

Quick question....I was told at our NCT class the other day that deep squatting is good for bringing the babies head down and getting it to engage, which make sense.

Do you reckon sitting on a low step (ie bottom of the stairs) would do the same thing? I can't imagine being able to squat down without a step or something otherwise but wanted to give it a try.

DP is still very much in the 'we have a week and a half to go yet' camp and won't be party to anything to try and bring it on quicker......but I could do the squatting thing durng the day and he'd never know Grin

momamia · 15/05/2006 12:41

runtus squatting is supposed to help in labour i'm not to such whether it would help the baby engage quicker before hand, but i suppose you could always try it.

Kittenpaws · 15/05/2006 13:33

Just to let you know I had a baby boy, Max, on Friday morning. Started getting contractions on Wednesday night, (having had conversation with the midwife that morning about how we thought I'd be in for the elective section in a weeks time!), then labour started properly Thursday afternoon. I did get the VBAC I wanted but having started to push he got distressed and then needed epidural, team of doctors, forceps etc but we are fine and back at home. He is asleep for a while so I can type as he seems to want to sleep in the day and feed at night!

runtus · 15/05/2006 14:15

Congrats and welcome Max!

sniff · 15/05/2006 14:32

congratulations welcome little Max x x

momamia · 15/05/2006 14:55

Congratulations kittenpaws on the birth of your son.

CMac · 15/05/2006 15:01

Congratulations Kittenpaws - nice to hear of a successful vbac - gives me hope!

pennytiff · 15/05/2006 15:26

Great news Kittenpaws . Many congrats.

Glad to know there is a happy reward at the end of this Grin

Asur · 15/05/2006 16:03

Hi ladies,

well, I'm finally back at a PC... Nice to hear there have been a few births - congrats. Mine eventually arrived on saturday - boy, Hamish. After having contractions for 57 hours, going through full labour, pushing for 2½hrs, MW's decided it wasn't going anywhere... Had to get transfer to hospital (was at MW-led unit) was checked over by 3 different doctors then eventually given an emergency section... After going through the whole pregnancy with no intervention, it was a bit disappointing but by that point, I was so tired that I was just glad they were getting it out of me! Up till that point though, I had only used gas and air which I was quite proud of :)

They said afterwards that he was apparently posterior (back to back with me) so his head wasn't in the right place and had got stuck. He did have a really funny shaped head at first but it's looking more 'normal' now.

I guess it all worked out fine though, he's healthy, I'm recovering, Just glad to be home where I might get some sleep (hospital ward was so loud!)

Good luck to everyone still waiting though - sure it won't be long and hopefully it will all go to plan :)

alicats · 15/05/2006 16:05

Hello Everyone

Congratulations to all you new mums out there on the safe arrivals of your bundles of joy.

I too have some news I now have a lovely son "Mark Antony" born on 5th May at 9.54am weighing 7lb 4oz by C section. We were completely shocked when the surgeon showed him over the sheet as I was convinced I was carrying a girl so much so that all I could say was "its got bits"

It ended up being a very emotional week for me as in the space of 3 days I had a memorial service, cremation for my mum who passed away 3 weeks previously & a birth.

Glad that its all over now and that I can start to enjoy my new son which is absolutely lovely but I will always wonder why my mum had to go when she did therefore not seeing her new grandson.

Anyway good luck to all you ladies on your impending births I hope it all goes well for you.

Take Care
Alicats x

ladyoracle · 15/05/2006 16:13

Congratulations Asur, sorry it didn't go to plan, but sounds like you did really well!

I have 10 days till due date, and 17 days left to have vbac, so willing this baby to come sooner rather than later!(old fashioned, natural methods are proving fun but unfruitful so far) Wink

nez · 15/05/2006 16:27

Hello all,
Commend all of you who are going through tough times smiling and congrats to the new bundles. Ah..getting emotional as I'm over tired. Hope rest is as good as sleep, coz it's all I can manage at moment. DH is getting soo impatient. He's very excited and nervous: Trying to stay cool but believe it or not I ALSO WANT FLUMP TO COME SOON!! (due tomorrow) Getting bored of BH's now. Want to experience some pain so I know I'm getting somewhere. Yes, I have gone completely mad!!! X

louismummy · 15/05/2006 17:36

congrats to all and welcome to all the new bundles of joy. welcome to sleepless nights!

runtus · 16/05/2006 07:08

Goodness, yet more of us have gone bang overnight it seems, congrats to everyone!

8 days to go here and still counting. Pineapple did nothing but make my mouth hurt yesterday and I now have the worlds sorest nipples after spending blooming ages trying to get that to kick my body into action.........all to no avail. Off tot he dr's at 10 for my normal checkup so might take myself off on a walk around town afterwards as the weather is so nice. Worth a go I reckon!
