Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
runtus · 10/05/2006 10:03

me too for the shooting pains, along with period type cramps............nothing like a contraction though so I guess it is all just the old body getting itself ready but not going for the big push just yet.

Come on!!!!!!!!!!!

pennytiff · 10/05/2006 10:19

Monday (due date) seems so far away but had my last Dr's appointment yesterday. Had a 25yr old student doing the check up and his hands were cold, but baby let him know about it by kicking himWink

They asked me if I knew the sex and I said no, but the student then turns round and says 'I think it's a girl' and my Dr said 'why's that' and he said because the Foetal HR is faster!! Shock

If I'd have wanted to be told, surely i'd have asked? Anyway it threw me slightly coz I really thought it was a boy. Not that I care though. Just want a happy, healthy one.

fenny1 · 10/05/2006 10:52

Nez, sounds like we are in the exact same place! I have pineapple in my fridge as we speak (even though it gives me indigestion and ulcers on my tongue!!)
Congrats Louismummy and Ollie and Co!
Got some shooting pains adn the BH are back but not many. And discharge Eeuww, no-one told me how gross that would be!
Still, mum on way over with moses basket, got my Tesco value quilt for home birth nest and am ready to rock!!Wink

Dunnyjo · 10/05/2006 11:58

I have been following everyones progress on hear. Not long to go Grin I am due 30th may but like the same as everyone else i am having loads of discharge (yuck!) Was feeling constantly wet so went and got checked this a.m so i know its not my waters.
I keep getting high sugar in my urine though so tomorrow a.m i need to have blood test done for that. its mad with my ds it was a text book pregnancy and birth (until 9cm realising he was breech!) Shock But with this pregnancy i ahve had non stop niggles. I have been in with contractions and had steroid injections but the good thing is i am now 37wks and glad its stayed in there!
Very aprehensive about the birth though, the whole thing pertrifies me. I was opting to have a s-c but now i have changed my mind and will try for my self. I did not (still dont Blush) think i will cope but i know after birth will be so much better physically. Is anyone else scared they wont cope with the birth?

Imafairy · 10/05/2006 15:03

Afternoon ladies! Just a quick hello before I go and soak up some of this lovely sun!
Ditto re shooting pains, both in my nether regions, and also down the back of my right leg.

I am due on Saturday, and am having a sweep on Friday, so maybe things will actually happen over the weekend - although am not holding out too much hope!
Weighed myself last night for the first timein a few weeks, and discovered I have put on almost half a stone in the three weeks that I've been on maternity leave........I guess having snacks and chocolate to hand all the time isn't the BEST idea Grin
I am convinced that this baby is a boy (for no other reason than the fact I already have one, and just assume this is one too) but I am carrying very differently (although based on old wives tales, last time I looked like I was carrying a girl, and this time I am all bump, which means a boy), and people have been saying they think it's a girl, and it's kind of freaking me out, not because I don't want a girl, but because I have grown so used to the idea that it's a boy. Anyone else in a similar situation?

momamia · 10/05/2006 15:05

I'm glad everyones experiencing the same of me.

pennytiff - ignore what the student midwife said thats an old wives tale it means nothing, they shouldn't have said that, don't get disheartened by it. My baby also move loads of a night and it does feel like any minute a hands gonna come out or something. :)

dunnyjo - I'm also a bit scared of the birth, but i think thats just natural, i think you have made the right decision in opting to have natural birth, it is better for you and the recovery time is alot quicker than a section, thats why this time i decided to have a natural birth plus i didn't want to stay in hospital i just want to get back home as i have a 2 year old as well and i don't think i'd cope being away from him for that long. :)

momamia · 10/05/2006 15:09

IMAFAIRY - I found out at my 20 week scam that i was having a girl and everybody has said to me that i'm carrying different this time, i'm just paranoid that i've got used to the idea of having a girl and its gonna turn out a boy. I know a couple of people this has happened to. I do really want a girl but if it is a boy it won't matter as long as its healthy.

squidgeymiller · 10/05/2006 18:53

Am having various cramps in the lower part of my bump (usually when I've just stood up or started walking) but it never seems to lead to anything. baby still not engaged.

Told DH how I really want to avoid being induced if poss on Sunday and Monday he suggested we try sex to bring things on tonight, if nothing had happened by now. Needless to say I'll be holding him to it!!

Off to have a shower and shave all the necessary areas to try to make it as nice as poss, and not just a chore to get the baby going! May even have a glass of wine with dinner - lots of people have said that helps too Grin

momamia · 10/05/2006 19:30

squidgeymiller - I hope it works for you, i don't think being induced would be very nice.
Enjoy your meal and glass of wine!! :)

lovecloud · 10/05/2006 20:49

Hello

Im back home with my new little Girl :) We have named her May!

She was born yesterday morning at 10.30am. Had sweep on Monday and it definitley set things off BIG TIME!!!!

Contractions started during the night about 3am, got to hospital at 5am. Got through it with gas & air and the trusty tens machine. Found it really hard to push her out. She eventually squeezed her way out and weighed 8lbs 11ozs. She is identical to my little girl - freakishly alike when she was a newborn. Breastfeeding well only slowly and likes a snooze then a suk, a snooze then a suck.
We are all smitten by her, a real little sweetie.

My recovery has been much faster this time although I have been taking Arnica so not sure if that is helping.

Dd1 is delighted yet trying hard to understand "gentle!!!" which is really frustrating her, any tips on other words to use so she does not feel irritated???

SO glad its over!

Good luck to the rest and hope your all holding your little bundle of joys soon too.

Dunnyjo · 10/05/2006 21:15

Congradulations Lovecloud on the birth of you dd May [smil] x x

Dunnyjo · 10/05/2006 21:15

oops! Smile

Asur · 11/05/2006 05:57

Squidgeymiller - hope you had a good night last night and it worked, even if it didn't, at least you would've had a nice evening which is always good :)

Lovecloud - congratulations on little May. :)

Well, I think I might be 'in labour' - felt a bit weird last night but woke up during the night feeling like I had a period coming on, went to bathroom and had a very obvious 'show' - didn't expect it to be quite like that... Now pretty sure I'm having contractions, have my trusty TENS on. Just trying to relax and enjoy the quietness of the house before DH gets up. He's on a day off today so he'll be a bit annoyed that he's not going to get to stay in bed all day! Wink

We'll see how it goes though, I've not really been aware of any BH as yet so I'm kinda thinking this might be them and I might not get the real thing for a few days... Don't want to get my hopes up too soon!

momamia · 11/05/2006 08:12

lovecloud - congratulations on the birth of your baby girl, well done!!! :)

Asur - i hope these contractions continiue for you and hopefully you will holding your beautiful baby very soon. Good Luck :)

I had another good nights sleep last night, i dunno whats going on here, still getting loads of pressure, but thats about it.

12 days to go, i'm getting there slowly.

:) :)

Hows everybody else feeling?

fenny1 · 11/05/2006 10:07

Congratulations LovecloudSmile

Had my first real momnet of 'God will I be able to do it?' last night. In the end jsut thought of all the people I know who have. Does it make me a bad person that I got more encouragment from thinking of the ones I don't like much and thinking 'if they can do it so can I!'?

Got my friend coming over this afternoon with her baby, I'm hoping some cuddles will make my hormones think about kicking off.

Hope everyone is enjoying the better weather and that its not increasing the swelling too much.

Asur - keep us posted, Good Luck!!!!!!!!

Dunnyjo · 11/05/2006 10:57

Hello Asur
Sounds like things are happening now for you! Grin keep us all posted with anything happening. Good luck x

pennytiff · 11/05/2006 11:06

Asur Good Luck today, hope the little one arrives sometime soon
Lovecloud Congrats on little May (such a sweet name). It's great to hear how everyone's labours started off, because i just don't know what to expect.

Having period cramps and still have painful movements from 9pm onwards but actually had a great night sleep last night which is a relief.

Shall go out and enjoy the sun and some me time by reading my book in the park as I possibly can not clean another cupboard. DH thinks I'm slightly insane.

Have a relaxing day everyone and hope to hear more news on more babies Grin

hockeymum · 11/05/2006 11:11

Well done lovecloud on the arrival of May, very apt for a May baby, I'm glad she arrived well and is home with you all. If gentle irritates dd1 then try the word, softly instead. It sounds a bit less tell-off-y (that is a word!). My dd prefer it if i tell her softly than gently, not sure why! Well done though, she soundslovely Smile

Asur, good luck today, beautiful day to have a baby (sunny and bright here) look forward to hearing your news

runtus · 11/05/2006 11:26

Congrats Lovecloud and good luck Azure...........very jealous now!

Still just getting period type cramps on and off and some shooting pains down below but no show or anthying else..............come on!

bubbles28 · 11/05/2006 12:35

Good Afternoon Everyone !!!! i haven't been 'online' for a couple of days and there seem to be babies appearing everywhere.... Congratulations!!!!
It now looks like we will be allowed to wait for Nature to take it's course rather than the Caesarean that was planned for tomorrow, we have a Hospital Appointment this afternoon so fingers crossed. Of course this now means that having got my head around the Caesarean I now am having those feelings of what if I can't 'do' 'Natural Birth', what if I can't cope etc etc..... I'm sure as several of you have said you feel like this it's quite normal..... ???!!
pennytiff I'm sure that student can't really tell the sex of your baby, but at the same time am absolutely outraged that he/she would even think about saying something like that as they normally have to be so careful.

momamia don't worry about being left on your own.... I'm still here Smile

AbiGilby · 11/05/2006 14:50

Congratulations Lovecloud and welcome baby May, and good luck Asur

momamia · 11/05/2006 15:13

bubbles28 - i'm feeling the same as you re natural birth, but its the better option. Let us know how you get on at the hospital, fingers crossed :)

runtus · 11/05/2006 15:47

Just thought I would share this image with you ............I'm currently typing away with my feet in the baby bath filled with cold water Grin Grin Grin

Bliss

Tt was that or the pond and I think the fish might have complained.....

momamia · 11/05/2006 15:50

That sounds nice runtus, i might try that myself, my feet are like balloons, i don't think that they can cope with the weight any longer.
:)

runtus · 11/05/2006 16:05

oh give it a go - feels so nice on hot, puffy feet.....................just have to convince DP to carry the bath downstairs tonight so I can do the same whilst perched on my ball watching TV!
