Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Asur · 09/05/2006 10:25

Morning,

well, i've had no change... Really annoyed, due date was yesterday and I was really hoping that it would arrive on time as doctors have a different date to me and I wanted to prove them wrong! Wasn't meant to be though. As far as I can tell, still not engaged so I'm guessing it's not going to arrive any time soon. My parents go on holiday next week and I feel really bad if they don't get to see it before they leave - my mum is more excited about LO than I am.

I can't think of any other ways to encourage it out though - tried all the 'old wives tales' and none of it has worked. Few people mentioning 'sweeps' but I really am not up for that - haven't had any intervention so far and don't really want any. Just so infuriating waiting for something to happen - would be nice if there was some way to know roughly when it's going to start...

sorry to be moaning but I'm just so fed up. I'm running out of things to do and if it waits much longer, I'm going to end up in debt coz I keep going shopping every day just for something to do! Wink

Hi

Sorry to crash, just wanted you all to know that Sniff has let me know today that her little one's head is now engaged so hopefully its not going to be to much longer for her!

3catstoo · 09/05/2006 13:27

Sorry to crash,
A word about induction.
I was induced with babies 2 and 3. With no 2 it took 1 hr 55mins. With no3 it took 1 hour 24 mins. So it doesn't always take a long time.
For my second induction I used a birthing ball once things had got started. It opens your pelvis to help baby to come down more.
Hope that gives some positive thoughts on induction rather than horror stories.

well I had my little baby boy on sunday at 5.11pm. started with contractions about 5 mins apart at about 8.30. decided that we needed to get my mum over ( took her 2 hours) in the meantime we left for hospital arrived at miday, with contractions coming about every 2 mins, i was 4 cm. tried the bath for a bit but contractions slowed but were still very painful. at 2pm was only 5 cms. had an epidural, fantastic. read my magazine going think that was a contraction... at 3.30 fully dilated, then waters broke. had a rest for a while. at 4.30 started pushing, after 4 contractions he was out ( but they had slowed down) hence was born at 5.11 weighing 8lb9. Had a episceotomy because i was tearing. ended up with a pph lost about 2 litres!!! and a night on HDU! very anaemic, but have managed to aviod a blood transfusion for now. Louis loves his little brother. Oliver ( Ollie) is doing well but likes to be awake at night and sleep during the day!!!Grin hope everyone else is well. sorry its a long one!

Congratulations LOUISMUMMY on the birth of oliver, its sounds like you had a really good labour, i just hope mines like that.

All the best with the little one and well done!!!

runtus · 09/05/2006 13:49

Hi all and welcome to all the new little ones out there! My how things change when you don't log on for a day or two!

Had my final appointment with the blood lady today and they reckon I am all fine for a natural birth - will just have to make sure my platelet levels are above 50 if I want and epidural but as they seem to have settled around 80/90 I should be fine if it comes to that. Then saw the Consultant and he seems to think all is going well too and the period type pains i've been getting are signs it is all heading in the right direction. 14 days to go tomorrow so I guess it's just a matter if waiting and seeing now.

Have to admit I would dearly love things to get moving quiker rather than slower now and have been guilty of running round a bit to try and get things shifting..kitchen floor has never looked so clean Grin. Nothing happened yet though so maybve a hot curry will be in order at the weekend if nothig changes.

Woke up about 3am with period pains and couldn't sleep so was downstairs scoffing Nutella on toast at 3.30am..............yumm!

monkeychambers · 09/05/2006 13:50

Well I am now a week overdue. Getting more and more anxious as I want to have water birth at the birth centre and if baby doesnt show any signs of arival before midnight on Sunday I will have to go to the hospital - which is horrible!

Had to go to hosp this am as BP up and they tried to force me into an induction on Thursday as that fitted their diaries best - managed to convince them to hold off until next Tuesday which is when I will be 2 weeks over.

Come on baby - get a move on - please!

Hope those still waiting are going ok.

Well done to those who's little ones have already arrived.

x

AbiGilby · 09/05/2006 14:49

Welcome Ollie, and congratulations louismummy. Ollie sounds like my DS, awake at night and asleep during the day!

cori · 09/05/2006 15:38

Hi all,
well had my pre op appointment at the hospital today. This baby is still nowhere near ready to come out on its own, so saving an act of god tonight I am set for an elective section tomorrow. Am a little sad that it hasnt happened on its own, but I am ready for this baby to come out. I cant be induced due to previous section, so am now quite excited that tomorow, probably by this time, I will have met my baby Grin

AbiGilby · 09/05/2006 15:57

I’ve started ‘May 2006 Babies’ post natal thread. Hope that’s OK with everyone.

hockeymum · 09/05/2006 16:16

Congratulations louismummy and welcome Ollie. Glad you didn't have too long a wait.

Monekychambers, keep your chin up, I hope things get moving towards the end of this week and you dont have to wait till next week for induction. Thinking of you.

Theo is still a little darling. It is such a shock as dd was a complete nightmare baby and screamed night and day if she wasnt being held. Theo bless him is so sleepy and gorgeous he wakes to feed, has a little kick around on the playmat, coos a lot and looks up at whats going on then goes to sleep. My friend calls him "the too good to be true baby". He has got a boil near the base of his spine which we have to give him antibiotics for which is a shame so early on, but he's even doing ok on those. I've just given him his last dose by syringe while he slept and he just sucked it down and went back to sleep. Crazy Boy!! Makes up for the horrendous pregnancy though I guess!

runtus - i'm sympathesing desperately with you im due 2 weeks today, i know how you feel, i keep getting little niggles and lower back pain, i just want my baby too.

cori - i wanted to ask why they won't do an induction with you cos i had previous section and the hospital have booked me in for 3 days after my date to check everything is as it should be and they were gonna see if i wanted to be left longer to go into spontaneous labour or talk about induction.
Good Luck for tomorrow. :) :)

runtus · 09/05/2006 16:42

Is it just us due that late Momamia or is there anyone else due around the end of the month?

We'll have gone stark staring mad by that time!

cori · 09/05/2006 16:44

momania - the contractions from induction are generally stronger. So there is a greater chance of the scar from previous section rupturing, putting mother and baby at risk.

Cant wait to join the post natal thread.

HunKeRMunKeR · 09/05/2006 17:30

Cori! Had been wondering how you were! Meant to email and forgot - glad I saw your name on here.

How's it going?

HunKeRMunKeR · 09/05/2006 17:31

Ohhhhh, just read down the thread - tomorrow! Wow! Good luck! Can't wait to read your birth announcement!

When you're ready...let's meet up Smile

momamia · 09/05/2006 17:34

cori - thanks for clearing that up. I don't think that i'll be wanting that then, i'm gonna have to make sure i do everything possible to go into labour myself. Thanks and once again Good Luck for tomorrow. :)

runtus - i think we might be the only ones left just don't go into labour before me otherwise i'll be talking to myself. :)

plama · 09/05/2006 17:59

Runtus and Momamia, I'm not due till the 20th (tho DD was early and fingers crossed for this one too!)

Asur · 09/05/2006 19:06

Abigilby has created a \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2330&threadid=171768&stamp=060509161856\post-natal May 2006} thread and she has kindly put everyone in order of their due dates - there are plenty people due nearer the end of May so don't worry Runtus and Momamia, you won't be alone! As it is just now, it feels like I'll still be here too Wink

Congrats to Louismummy by the way :)

cori · 09/05/2006 22:28

Cheers Hunker. I expect to be in hospital until Saturday or Sunday. Probably be up and about a couple of weeks later. Look forward to meeting up with the two DS's.

runtus · 10/05/2006 07:48

We won't be alone - hooray!

momamia · 10/05/2006 08:29

I'm gald we're not the only ones then runtus its made me feel a lot better.

I had a good nights sleep last night for the first time in ages, i'm feeling a hell of a lot of pressure now, i keep getting shooting pains down below, i don't whether its because she on a nerve, haven't got a clue, i started to get more and more discharge now i hope that this is a sign. Is anyone else having a similar experience.
:)

WinkyGirl · 10/05/2006 09:22

Im not due to the 20th and am hoping the baby will stay in until at least 15th as I am currently having a new kitchen put in (!)

The whole house is covered in the contents of the kitchen and dust.

Therefore, contrary to everyone else, I am avoiding sex, pineapples, curry, bumpy roads etc!

Congrats to all those who are now on the post-natal thread xx

pennytiff · 10/05/2006 09:51

Yep Momamia, I too am have the shooting pains. Kind of hoping it's the start of everything but then they subside. As for discharge, I constantly feel like I have wet myself.Blush

On an evening the baby moves so much that I am worried it's trying to fight it's way out of my skin! Constantly have butterflies in my stomach because I am so excited. But having a massage today to help pass the time.Grin
