OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pennytiff · 07/05/2006 10:45

Well ladies, Sorry to have joined this thread so late on but I have been reading about everyone's progress.

Am due on the 15th May and it's our first. I would ideally like this little one to come early as I am feeling very uncomfortable in bed and tend to spend 2-3 hrs awake at night:(

Feeling anxious but excited to meet him/her. Hope something happens soon!

lovecloud · 07/05/2006 11:12

Pennytif - Welcome! I am also awake 2-3 hours every night now too... just the excitement I think.

Seashells and Mandymoo - Well done both of you and welcome to your little ones.

Seashells - its good you have had a big cry and dont be hadr on yourself. I want a natural labour too but is its not meant to be... th emost important thing is you now have your little beautiful bundle of joy and im jealous :)!!!!

My due date has come and gone and I am so surprise as I never thought I would go over - i will never trust my instincts again Angry I have walked and walked, had lots of sex, ate food - done the lot! Contractions come and never stay so it feels like I am never going to have this baby.

... I have actually put a pad on as 10 mins ago I noticed a big wet patch on my pjs and pants so you never know. this did happen two weeks ago and hospital confirmed it was wee Blush so i wont get too excited yet!

... must do those damn pelvic exercises.

Good luck everyone!

AbiGilby · 07/05/2006 13:29

Congratulations Mandymoo and welcome Tom, and well done Seashells in having Tabitha. I know how the rollercoaster of emotions following an unplanned c-section feels, but I am so glad you are recovering, and I am sure Tabitha is most beautiful.

monkeychambers · 07/05/2006 15:45

Thought I would join the thread...

I was due last Tuesday and am trying to not be too impatient - but DH and I really do want baby to arrive. Its our 1st and we're so excited...

It was my Dad's bd yesterday so would've been nice to have his 1st grandchild then but no such luck.

The birth centre have me booked in for a 'stretch and sweep' tomorrow - hmmmm nice. But if it starts this baby moving then lets go for it I'm thinking. Does anyone know if it hurts? Was planning to go on my own but wondering if I'll want to drive afterwards...

Well done to all have had had their babies and good luck to all those still waiting...
X

squidgeymiller · 07/05/2006 16:18

Hi all - congrats to Helsi, Mandymoo and Seashells - very jealous!

Good luck to all with impending due dates and here's hoping that your wet patch was more than just a wee this time Lovecloud (I think I've heard something before about some people having a set of waters outside the "real waters" - like a bit that's leaked but been held, so your 1st "wee" could have been an extra sack of fluid outside of your "normal" waters, breaking - well, it's better than being told you've wet yourself!)

Monkeychambers, glad i am not the only overdue one on here. I was due on Thursday. They attempted to do a sweep on thursday but cervix was still too high so didnt have any luck. It didnt really hurt though. I have a section booked for Wednesday, will be very surprised if anything happens before then.
Congratulations Helsi and Seashells, i hope you are getting some rest and all is well.

plama · 07/05/2006 17:30

Wow the babies are statring to come thick and fast. Well done to Helsi, Mandymoo and Seashells and congratulations one and all!!!

Bouj · 07/05/2006 22:47

Lovecloud - you and I are suffering the same, I think! I have resigned myself to the fact that this child will celebrate its 18th birthday on the inside....... Grrr... Had mild contractions off and on yesterday, and 3 more serious ones, beautifully spaced at 15mins apart before I went to bed. Informed dh he had no choice but to fulfill his marital duties thinking it would undoubtedly kick things off. But here I am, another day on! Show was 4 days ago now, and I have 7 days until my induction. Something has gotta happen soon!?!?

hockeymum · 08/05/2006 07:14

Bouj and Cori. Sorry you are overdue and fed up! (Although I had ds early this time I do know what it is like to be overdue as dd was 20 days late!). Try to keep yourselves as occupied as possible, watch lots of DVDs and read for distraction. Get out as much as possible to keep the blues at bay and feel free to punch anyone that thinks being overdue is worth a jokey comment. Thinking of you both, extra VBAC vibes for you too Cori.

Hi everyone,

I've loved reading all of your news, seen as nothings happening with me yet, i've still got 2 weeks to go and its gonna be the longest 2 weeks of my life.
Congratulations Helsi, Mandymoo and seashells of the birth of your beautiful babies. There all good weights too, well done!!!

Your all bound to go through mixed emotions, but just see that as a good thing, you've bodies have all been through a lot, but it was all worth it when your babies finally arrived.

I've got my fingers crossed for those of you who are overdue, i sure it will happen soon, i know exactly how your feeling, my first baby was 7 days overdue. You never think its gonna happen but it will when they are ready. :) :)

I would like some advice from those of you who have had natural births, as i had to have an emergency section last time, due to my son being back to back, he got stuck. I went through the contractions and was fully dilated, i did the pushing for a couple of hours before they decided to do a section, they also tried the ventose aswell. I'm just a bit scared about the crowning bit, does it really hurt? What if i can't do it because the baby is too big and it won't come out.

Please help!!!

Sorry its a long thread haven't been on for a few days.

inkyminky · 08/05/2006 11:11

Morning, and lovely to hear about all of these beautiful babies being born, congratulations to you all. I am getting such strong kicks now they are stopping me in my tracks sometimes & is anyone else finding driving a nightmare? Still am cherishing every day with just DS and I at the moment as I know things are going to be so different in a few weeks.

Mandymoo, just one persons opinion and I'm sure everyone is different but I can honestly say the pushing/crowning part of the labour was almost enjoyable Shock, It felt like you were doing something & getting immediate results and because everything was so stretched down there it numbed everything significantly. I did find it strange feeling when the limbs come out but IMO if you laboured as far as you did you've had the worst bit getting to 10cms. I guess it was like at the end of a marathon where from somewhere people find the energy to do a sprint finish even though they thought there was nothing left and you feel bloody knackered but proud afterwards.

Hope this reassures some of the first timers out there as well because I can remember reading all of the horror stories and scaring myself s**tless before my last birth (this was with synotcyn drip, ventouse and only Gas and Air available as well).

Have a lovely relaxing day, I think a day of nesting and of course on-line shopping is on the cards (again)Grin

inkyminky · 08/05/2006 11:14

Sorry meant Momamia am brain dead today.

momamia · 08/05/2006 11:55

Thanks for your advice INKYMINKY i suppose once you actually go into labour, the adrenalin kicks in and takes over, so your body just does what it suppose to anyway. I suppose i'm feeling a little anxious as i know what to expect as far as how painful the contractions are, but i didn't do the crowning bit, all i know is what other people have said that the crowning is the worse part of it.

You have made me fell a little more positive though. :)

Hello Everyone and Congratulations to the new arrivals!!!!

Just thought I'd log on to see how everyone is and to say that I have just had Reflexology and can recommend it enough during these final stages, I feel a lot less hormonal and even if that's only temporary it makes a nice change!!!!!

Hope you're all well xx

Sorry, didn't mean to repeat myself AND meant to say 'can't recommend it enough' NOT 'can recommend it enough' which would make no sense!!!!! I am obviously too relaxed after the Reflexology!!!!

squidgeymiller · 08/05/2006 16:03

well DH hasn't budged on the sex front, so am looking forward to induction on Friday. Only a few days now. Feels weird to actually know roughly when I'll be able to hold my new baby. DH's best friends keep saying baby won't come until Saturday morning, but I certainly hope they're wrong as I'm being induced at 8am Friday morning. I know it can take that long, but I think they're just trying to scare us!!

Good luck to everyone else, hope you're all not too uncomfortable!

mummyhill · 08/05/2006 16:18

Just to keep you up to date Sniff is still in hosptital. She is ok within her self but as baby hasn't stoped fidgetting they are keeping her in to be on the safe side and to stop her from over doing things with her beautifull boys.

cori · 08/05/2006 17:07

Squidgy, dont want to scare you but induction can take a long time. I remember going in with DS thinking, I will have my baby today. He came three days later, it will be better for you if you dont get your hopes up for Friday.

If you have had a previous vaginal birth is meant to move things along faster.

fenny1 · 08/05/2006 17:47

Hi All

We lost our internet for over a week and I feel like I've missed loads!
I've got 7 days to go and for those of you that are overdue, the midwife at the hospital tour said they always get more births on a full moon and that's Friday so Good Luck!
My friend had her third boy this week 11lbs 10oz!
Can't even imagine what that is gonna feel like!!!! But I'm hoping mine is smallerWink
Off to catch up on all the threads.....

lovecloud · 08/05/2006 21:12

Hello

Had mw app today and got "the sweep" done. It hurt a bit but was a lot shorter than I imagined. Since having it done I have had quite a few twinges so fingers crossed it will get things going within the next couple of days!!!

Just cant wait to see the little face of this growing baby inside, I am all baby, i cant feel anything else except bones and back so i want him/her out before they get too big! :)

Fingers and toes crossed for everyone

Happy Birthing!!!

Capes · 08/05/2006 21:20

Momamia
Just in case you want a second opinion, I would agree with Inkyminky that you have probably done the hardest part. Once the baby is crowning, at least you know your getting somewhere.
It'll also be over pretty quick after that and you can focus on your lovely little babe!!

momamia · 09/05/2006 08:23

Capes - thanks also for your imput its really appreciated.

I had a really crap nights sleep again, i cant get comfy on either of my sides. I'm looking forward to the birth now, its just feel like ive been pregnant for years rather than months.

Ive got 14 days to ago, has anybody else still got to wait this long???

fenny1 · 09/05/2006 08:43

Lovecloud - interesting to hear how you are getting on with 'sweep'. I am booked for one next Tuesday , which will be one day over my due date. MW wants to try to get things going as I am aiming for homebirth . The idea of it grosses me out a bit I must admit.

Got excited yesterday as I had an upset stomach and my aunt said it could be the beginning, it wasn'tSad

Was up eating ham and cheese sandwich at 1.30 in morning, couldn't sleep, reading my book, they mentioned on e in the book and that was it, I HAD to have one. Would never do that if I wasn't pregnant, it felt quite liberating!!!! And was very tasty[snorting pig icon]

Hello all,
Haven't been on for awhile. Congrats to all the mums and dads and welcome to the world all the little ones. Very excited for you all. Due in a week. you too, Fenny?
Glad to hear the full moon theory as well. It has been known to send me a bit loopy so we'll see!
If castor oil's purpose is to bring on the trots, could eating lots of dried fruit work as well. Don't fancy it much as I was forced it when I was a child (maybe for constipation.YUK)
DH is driving me mad. Amazing how many calls/texts I'm getting these days when he is usually 'too busy' at work. Bless! His plan is to start eating curries, pineapple and doing it like rabbits from tonight. Oh lord, don't have the energy for it all!
Have tidied up and sorted so much that I'm a bit bored now really. Am reading far too much - won't have any books left.
Hoping for homebirth, but visited hospital last night to get a feel of place just incase. Staff seemed very nice at least. Fenny, I haven't been offered a sweep to get things going soon. My MW is quite realxed though, I s'pose.
Hope to hear good news from some of you soon. I am enjoying the peace and quiet (no other kids) while I can but soo looking forward to meeting junior.
xx
