supersonic · 26/04/2006 14:24

thanks runtus I will go look!

momamia · 26/04/2006 15:07

supersonic - I will have the same problem, my son is 2 years old and at the moment he's having tantrums left right and centre.

My partner and i have discussed this and have agreed the best possible way we can do it, is by getting him involved with the baby, like bathing her, feeding etc. We probably will by a couple of pressies, within reason.

I don't think that there is anymore you can do!!

Does you eldest go to a nursery or playgroup??

:)

louismummy · 26/04/2006 15:14

lovecloud · 26/04/2006 17:37

Hello

Sleep problems here too.

I feel shattered late afternoons and sometimes sleep for an hour. As soon as I go to bed at night, I know i wont sleep so I read for ages and then lie there twisting and turning wishing baby out and getting up to wee.

Its so frustrating as I know how precious sleep is and the lack of it to come but yet my mind is against me.

I have to say I cant believe how fed up being pregnant I am, I am 38 weeks but feel like I am 48 weeks. This pregnancy has been great and I should be thankful but I just want it over now. I dont remember feeling like this first time.

It just feels like its never going to end and its silly as I will probably be holding baby by the end of next week if these pains continue. For the last five days, I have pains low down in belly, in my legs and back so I have all the signs. My body is teasing me Angry

I would love it to happen tonight...

Oooh strong braxton hick just then!!! made me hold my breath! Baby must be listening to me complaining :)

AbiGilby · 26/04/2006 20:18

Hi all. Thanks for your best wishes. We were re-admitted to stay overnight, again! Isaac had UV treatment. He is still a little jaundiced, and we have to go back to hospital again tomorrow. We haven’t had a day away from there this week.

Littlemisspiggy Isaac was due on 4th May.

Hockeymum I have been told not to let Isaac go longer than three hours before feeding him. I have to wake him up, he’s still so sleepy.

Seashells I put on 2 and a half stone, and have only lost half a stone for having had Isaac. DH says it’s because my boobs now weigh a stone each! I think he might be right, they feel like rocks!

runtus · 27/04/2006 08:50

Ah sounds like you are glad to be home eh? Hopefully Isaac will only need one last course of UV and then you can leave the hospital alone for a while Smile.

Have to say we are all very jealous of you having your little bundle at home with you already, lucky lady!

Managed to sleep better last night, fell asleep about 12 and then got up to the loo about 6am and though "bugger, that;ll be it now" but then dropped off again - hooray! Only woke up about 8.15am when the phone rang............fel LOADS better today for the extra hours. I've been napping in the afternoons too Lovecloud, I'd be a mess otherwise.

My DP was away in Dublin last night so I had a lovely long bath and then sat in bed eating chocolate and watching Grand Designs - maybe that had something to do with the good nights sleep??!

momamia · 27/04/2006 09:11

Hi everyone,
I'm not sleeping very well, i couldn't decide which of my sides was best to sleep on, i had to go to the toilet about 6 times in the night. The baby wouldn't stop kicking me, her movements were alot stronger last night it was as if she was trying to get out.
I'm not that fed up at the moment which i'm suprised about, i've still got 3 1/2 weeks left, i finish work tomorrow which i'm looking forward to.

Keep smiling everyone :) :)

Seashells · 27/04/2006 09:19

Wow for the first time in ages... I didn't get up to go to the loo last night! Slept from 10pm til 7am! :)

I feel so refreshed after such a good nights sleep, and the sun is shining... I think this baby should be born today while I am in such a good mood :)

runtus · 27/04/2006 10:32

Glad you tow are feeling good today - nice isn't it??

Very excited as my change bag just arrived. We got a boring black one with the pram when we bought it but I found a bright red, funky one on Ebay for £20...............sad but it has made me really happy!

I need to get out more.

Hi all, Congrats to Abigilby and welcome to Isaac. Am enjoying mat leave and keep finding things to do (but aim to only do 1 or 2 things per day so that I don't run out of things!)

Am due on Saturday but baby still not engaged and no signs of it coming any time soon. Have told DH has to start the reflexology (DH is fully trained but refuses to use his skills on me!!) to get the baby moving - he's just as fed up of waiting as I am (well, he thinks he is!) and he refuses to try the age old solution of sex (I think he's scared he'll poke the baby or something!). Was thinking of trying OJ or fresh pineapple until I realised that would make my heartburn EVEN WORSE (it's already really bad).

Have an appt on Tuesday, which I really don;t want to have to go to - I WANT THIS BABY NOW!!!!!

I'm sleeping generally OK, only had to get up 3 times last night. The main problem is actually getting out of bed when I need the loo - is VERY hard work!

keep smiling everyone. I'm kind of wishing this pg away now, but I do keep thinking that as soon as baby's born I'll miss out on all the lovely kicks and bumps.

I am so so happy!!

My lovely boy is fast asleep in a bundle on my shoulder and I'm using the wireless laptop to catch up on you lot.

We've had a few problems with the feeding though. My milk has only just come in today which is about twice as long as most people so he has dropped a whole pound in weight. Hopefully now my milk has come in he will begin to put on weight. I've been feeding him every 2 hours all day and ight to get the milk flowing and the poor boy was sucking for england and getting nothing! He hates being put down so I've been sleeping with him on me till he is a couple of weeks old and gaining weight. Also because he is my last baby, I want to treasure every minute and he's all cuddly and gorgeous and new, he makes all these snuffly, snugly noises.

My recovery from the section is much quicker too, last time I didn't go out in the car againfor 3 weeks, last night (day 5) I went and had a drink in a pub garden with dh and theo, then collected dd from her party at the wacky warehouse in the pub. It is amazing what feels relatively easy after such a horrible pregnancy.

Thinking of all you girls with your babies inside and looking forward to hearing your birth stories and then how much you love your little ones when they are born.

Thankyou for the advice re turning 'Breech Bump', it has made me feel better.Smile

Think I've overdone things a bit this week, shopping and meeting friends whilst nesting AND struggling to sleep properly too, it's amazing how much calmer i feel after a real nights sleep so hoping for a blissful night tonight!!!!

Hope you're all well!!!!

Imafairy · 28/04/2006 09:01

oh hockeymum - what a lovely post!!!! Just goes to show there is always light at the end of the tunnel!

Asur · 28/04/2006 10:38

Hi folks, I've been reading your posts but only just registered so thought I'd add a little post to say hi.
I'm due on 8th May but have been busy with moving house and getting lots of stuff sorted out but I'm done now and I've got time to sit at the computer and read lots of useful info :)

Squidgeymiller - if you really want to try that old wives tale about sex, you should suggest something else to DH which might encourage him... My hubby found an article showing that the hormone in semen works best when digested! (think about it!) He keeps hinting for me to try it but I just don't fancy it and not sure if it would help or worsen heartburn! We'll see how desperate I get though Wink

Random question for you all. I've been told baby isn't engaged yet and to encourage it, I should sit up straight and keep my knees lower than my hips... BUT, I've also been told to help reduce swollen ankles, I should sit with my feet higher than my knees... Is there a way to combine this or should I just continue with my current method of changing position every 15mins?! Conflicting advice is a nightmare! Wink

Anyway, hope everyone is well.

squidgeymiller · 28/04/2006 10:38

thanks for a lovely post hockeymum - makes all the waiting worthwhile. Can't wait!

lovecloud · 28/04/2006 10:45

Hello everyone

Well I am up in the night thinking it was all starting, more diahhreoa, headaches, felt sick etc.

This morning woke up with pain then had a contraction that actually made me stop. Got really excited and decided to have bath and shave legs :)

But since bath - no more contraction just niggles and braxton hicks.

I feel like something is about to burst down below, I guess its all the pressure.

I dont want to be one one these people with pre labour signs for 3 weeks etc... I've had a curry, had sex last night, done lots of walking and told baby to come out NOW!

I just hope today is the day, be great to give birth in the day rather than through the night - less tiring.

Got braxton hicks now with some pain but I need more pain - strong pain - baby pushing pain...

I've lost it!

thebecster · 28/04/2006 13:31

So good to read your post hockeymum! I'm so glad that everything has worked out better for you this time.

Welcome Asur. The advice I was given (which worked, baby turned, and ankles aren't too swollen) is -

  • sit on birthing ball whenever sitting
  • spend at least half an hour a day on all fours with bum in the air (leaning over birthing ball or beanbag or lots of cushions. Can read a magazine or watch TV in this position, albeit slightly undignified!)
  • try to get a balance of gentle exercise (walking & swimming) and complete rest - and rest lying on your side, not your back.

Hope that helps you, and best of luck.

So when's the next baby coming then...? Grin

fenny1 · 28/04/2006 14:54

Goodness, I take a couple of days off from the computer and so much has happened! I said babies would be popping out and they are!

Funny story for those of us feeling like elephants (which is probably most of us!)
I went into Superdrug for some Zantac to help the ever present indigestion. I will take this opportunity to point out I am 37+5. The pharmacist looks at me and asks 'are you pregnant?', I glance down at my stomach, which is keeping me two foot from the counter, and look back at her and say 'yes'. How I didn't laugh in her face I do not know. I am no stick thin waif with a prefect bump but I am not huge so you couldn't tell the difference either.

So glad I ahve finished work, these last 3 weeks have been the best of my pregnancy I think. Been cleaning, cooking and meeting mates for coffee.

My friend had her baby after being induced, little boy 10lbs 3oz, ouch!Grin William.

sniff · 28/04/2006 15:06

Good to hear from you hockeymom gald you are feeling well

fenny1 some people ask the most odd questions I took my youngest to macdonalds today for an ice cream and the woman told me that there was no maternity facilities round there so if I went into labour I would be in trouble!! I said it ok you can hold my hand she went pale and stalkked off lol

my baby is apparently unstable position at the moment because she keeps moving around so they might admit me next week thats great no more explanations there am going to hold stomach in a vice grip for 3 weeks to stop her from moving!!!

cori · 28/04/2006 16:38

Asur, its a problem when they offer conflicting advice. I think I can live with the swollen ankles, so am trying the sitting positions most of the time. Drinking lots of water helps the swelling go down.

Am also trying everything imaginable to get this baby to moving along, though am due til next thursday. I am having acupuncture tomorrow and have bought some homeopathic remedies that are meant to help as well. I have not tried them yet though.

cori · 28/04/2006 16:41

Sniff, what does an unstable position mean? Why would they admit you for that?

sniff · 28/04/2006 16:47

apparently it means when the baby keeps moving around and this is dangerous because if waters break the cord can come out first so they keep you in hospital

cori · 28/04/2006 16:56

Oh, I think my baby keeps moving about too. No one has mentioned anything though.

sniff · 28/04/2006 17:26

mine has been a different position for tha last 3 weeks this is the first time she has been ceph through the whole pregnancy how many weeks are you it might be worth asking someone I thought babys were either head down or bum up didnt ralse they had enough room to keep shifting round maybe have no muscles to hold it in place let me know how you get on when you ask
