Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

hee hee - it's funny. First time around I ended up sitting twiddling my thumbs from about one week before EDD and baby was 2 weeks late.
This time, I am HOPING baby will stay put at least until EDD, and possibly a week or so later, cos I only have 3 weeks to go and haven't done any of the cleaning / preparing/ nesting / cooking that you all have been up to!!!

For those of you who are bored (if it's first time around), ENJOY it, and if you can do totally frivolous things like getting your hair blow dried, although I do remember how frustrating the last few days are.

lovecloud, out of curiousity, and if not TMI, what position(s!) did you manage it in? I am feeling so huuge that any type of sexual activity is either not appealing or totally impossible Wink!!!
only an hour or so left till my maternity leave starts!

momamia · 21/04/2006 16:13

My baby has been moving alot more today which i'm pleased about.

I'm going to be breast feeding again this time round, i just hope that i can do it for longer than 3 weeks, i found that with my first he was feeding every hour, and i just couldn't cope.

Is there anybody who's due towards the end of May, cos i'm due the 23rd, and everybody else seems to be due within 2 weeks?

:)

lovecloud · 21/04/2006 16:25

Imafairy...

Since a few months ago when I became huge we starting doing spoons, lying on our sides with dh behind me.

Last night dont know where my energy came from but we managed, spoons, me on top (lights were out so belly not a distraction and the old fav - doggy :)

When pregnant I find the most comfortable way to do doggy is to bunch up my quilt and pillows and lean forward onto them.

Have fun :) You might as well get as much in now.

Momamia - my dd also fed hourly at the beginning which felt like ages and I thought my nipples were going to fall off. If it happens again this time just try and stick with it as our babies were just trying to establish the milk they needed. My dd'd feeding times did eventually have longer gaps in between but it took alot longer compared to my friends. I cant wait to breastfeed again, when I got into about 6 weeks it got better and better!

I am sure you will be fine!

I am gonna give it my best shot this time and try and stick with it, i think i had a bit of post natal last time which might be why i gave up so easily.
I can't wait for my baby girl, these 4 weeks are just gonna drag!

Can anybody suggest any unusual girlie names for me, my partner and I are so undecided, it was so much easier to pick our sons name. Help!!!!!

:)

bubbles28 · 21/04/2006 16:40

Momamia.... I am due on may 22nd, so we'll be getting bored and irritable together whilst everyone one else has their little bundles!!!!
Think I've overdone the nesting today so will have a little rest now.... just in time for some rubbish telly!!!! Am quite sure bump has not moved.... must be very cosy in there.Wink
Raspberry leaf tea or tablets??
Are Avent breast pumps any good?? I don't intend to use it all the time so assume I don't need an electric one....
Has anyone used or planning to use swaddling blankets that are 'ready folded'.... ????

bubbles28 · 21/04/2006 16:46

....When I said not moved I meant from breech position , not that he/she hasn't moved at all.

Momamia.... we have the opposite worry as we've chosen girls names but feel v. stuck for boys.... which is worrying as everyone (apart from my Grandma) says we're having a boy....

What about.... Millie,Daisy,Liberty,Kate,Katie....

momamia · 21/04/2006 16:50

bubbles28

Hi, i'm glad i'm not on my own, i can recommend the Avent Breast Pump. I used it with my first, not sure about the electric ones though. I've also got the Avent bottle steamer which is also very good, your bottles are sterilsed within 5 minutes.

Have you finished work yet, i've just got one week to go. I've also got 3 weeks holiday to take before my maternity starts, so i get longer with my baby.

:)

momamia · 21/04/2006 16:55

bubbles28 - those names are really pretty!!

Boys names that we like are - connor, morgan, charlie, jack, Spencer, callum.

Hope these help.

bubbles28 · 21/04/2006 17:03

Momamia.... I officially start Maternity Leave this Sunday/Monday, but am a Teacher so have been off for 2wks today for Easter hols, last week I just felt exhausted but this week I've got lots done and am enjoying making the mental/emotional transition to becoming a Mummy (it's our first baby).... I am definitely feeling more sane than last week.I was also v. poorly in 2nd Trimester ( I had Pneumonia) so am now actually getting to enjoy being pregnant as I felt I missed out on that for a while.

Thanks for advice re; breast pump/ steriliser.... do you mean the microwave one? I have bought that one as it was recommended by a friend.... Smile

bubbles28 · 21/04/2006 17:06

Momamia.... thankyou, if you like Morgan that can be v.cute for a girl too.

momamia · 21/04/2006 17:18

bubbles28

I haven't got the microwave one, so couldn't comment. I would of thought it would be a good one though!!

Enjoy your rest while you can, everybody was saying this to me with my first and i didn't take any notice, i just wanted the baby. When its here though get your rest when the baby sleeps. Your gonna need it :o

I haven't got a clue if i'll get any rest this time round though, having a new baby and a 2 year old.

:)

bubbles28 · 21/04/2006 17:31

Thanks for the advice I will certainly try to rest..... but i'm not very good at doing nothing as i start worrying, I suppose I could catch up on the Baby book reading!!!!
Will you have help with the 2yr old? How does he feel about the new baby? Is he aware? Mt friend has just had twins, she has a 4yr old and said how much easier it is even with 2 as she feels so much more confident.

evilstepmom · 21/04/2006 19:24

evening all...
now, I know i am a big wuss not to just give her what for by now, but my midwife is evil and hates me. so i do not really feel i can ask her questions like what does 3/5 mean?! so instead i have to ask you guys....
hope you're all ok :)

tortoiseshell · 21/04/2006 19:25

3/5 EITHER means 3/5 engaged (i.e. 2/5 of the head can be felt above the pelvis), or 3/5 palpable (3/5 of the head can be felt, therefore 2/5 engaged).

louismummy · 21/04/2006 19:33

you seem to have the same gap as we do momania, ds will be 21 months when this one is born. my sis says that you can't be as indulgent as you were with the first. but thank god ds goes to nursery 3 days a week ( which we aren't cutting down on!!)

louismummy · 21/04/2006 19:34

it means that 3/5 can be felt

evilstepmom · 21/04/2006 19:54

so is that good then at 38+2? i know i am naive and stupid BlushI'll be asking where the baby comes out next!!

momamia · 21/04/2006 20:23

bubbles28 - my son is aware of the baby, he keeps kissing my stomach and i do talk to him about it. I think he may be a little jealous when she is born however, i'll involve him with everything to try and avoid him feeling left out.
My partner is taking 1 month off work when this one arrives, so he will give me enough help which will give to time to adapt to a new routine.

louismummy - my family have said that you never do things the same with your second child, you learn from your mistakes, i suppose it all a learning curve. My little boy goes to a private nursery whilst i work part time, its done him the world of good he likes mixing with other kids and playing, hes a very active child.

:)

louismummy · 21/04/2006 21:49

my ds is very active too. thenk god for the nice weather he'll just play outside for ages...

hockeydadAKAjustdh · 22/04/2006 07:19

Just to let you know, hockeymum had her baby yesterday. Both are well and still in hospital. Baby Theo was born at 10:11am and weighed 3.35kg (7lb6oz in old money). The CS went very well and was a very different experience to the birth of dd.
Anyway, we're all very happy and dd and I are looking forwad to them coming home. I guessed the weight correctly which means I win the sweepstake at work. Result!

Hockeydad

cori · 22/04/2006 08:53
