Am getting a bit paranoid again. Am 38 weeks now, havent been feeling much movement in the past couple of days. Of course I know everything slows down at this stage, just wondering what everyone else is experiencing.

louismummy · 22/04/2006 15:03

congratulations on the birth of baby Theo hockeymum & dad. Grin

Imafairy · 22/04/2006 15:09

Congratulations hockeymum and hockeydad. Wonderful news!!!! Grin and great name!

momamia · 22/04/2006 15:46

cori - if you concerned about your movements its best to get it checked out by the hospital.
I had to go to the hospital Thursday i hadn't had much movement, but everything was fine and ive still got 4 weeks to go. I said to the midwife that i felt a little stupid going in because as soon as i went on the monitor she wouldn't stop moving, the midwife said to me that if ever i'm concerned i could go in every day and be checked.
It just puts your mind at rest.

:)

Hurrah for HockeyfamilyGrin

Regarding the microwave sterilizer, my friend says they are great but warn DH/DP/whoever is using it to 'lift' when removing it from the microwave. Hers didn't and so it pulled out and smashed the rotating plate and they have had a hell of a job getting another one!
Carpel Tunnel horrid in mornings, feet fat in evenings. Trying to rev myself up for sex in the effort to a)feel close to DP again and b)get this baby out. 24 days to go but would like baby now pleaseSmile

Mandymoo · 22/04/2006 20:56

Congrats Hockeymum - one down and lots more to go! Grin

Well i'm 38 weeks now (15 days to go!!!!!) and would really like my little man to make his appearance now! Am not getting any sleep, feel uncomfortable for 99% of the time and basically want my boy to finally meet his big sister!

Getting loads and loads of strong braxtons and still a fair bit of movement although not as much as it has been.

DD (3.4) came shopping with me today and picked out a teddy for the baby - it was such a cute moment. She even gave it a kiss for baby!

Had my eyebrows waxed today but far too chicken to have bikini line done yet - cant even see it so whats the point?! Wink

However, am booked in for hair cut and colour, pedicure, manicure, bikini wax and leg wax just as soon as baby is out (well, give or take a few days!)

Hope all you ladies are ok and i look forward to reading about some more arrivals in the coming weeks XX

cori · 22/04/2006 22:00

Am still getting movements. Had a lot more this afternoon, after very quiet morning. I think I will probably go in Monday just to be on the safe side.

lovecloud · 22/04/2006 22:47

Hello

I haver noticed that baby has slowed right down too but I am not worried as long as I feel movement throughout the day. I can usually get him/her to push back with a bit of encouragement.

Also not sure if things are starting for me this evening, I am 38 weeks and been getting getting niggly pains for a few days, this evening I had diarrhoea even though I went as usual this morning.

This is how my first labour started so I am trying to not get too excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so we'll see...

squidgeymiller · 23/04/2006 11:55

hi all,
congrats to Hockeyfamily, lovely name!

Any news on Cori?

I had a mils panic yesterday as wandering round costco as had 3 pretty srong contractions within 15 mins. DH just said "surely that's too fast" and dismissed it, but did panic me slightly.

Had v hot curry last night (although had asked for mild!!) but has just resulted in baby pushing back up into my ribs again and a sleepless uncomfortable night.

pretty sure baby still not engaged at all as seems far too high and moving far too much. Now 39+1 so getting resigned to fact that baby's likely to be v late. DH not understanding at all today and keeps going on at me about how I'm in a foul mood - well how would he like to have got about 3 hours sleep last night along with having a very wriggly bowling ball under his ribs and really terrible heartburn????? Don't feel like apologising for my mood right now!

squidgeymiller · 23/04/2006 11:56
Angry

ps should be mild not mils!!

momamia · 23/04/2006 12:14

Hi all,

Feeling rather large today, i am getting so much pressure down below, its as if she is trying to get out, also getting shooting pains, i know that she is 2/5 engaged already, i was hoping that this might mean she will come early, but i know that she can easily become free again.

Is anybody else getting fed up now?

:)

hockeymum · 23/04/2006 16:12

hello girls. excuse the one handed typing, but theo is attached to my boob so have only one hand free. Excuse the long post in advance...

We got to the hospital at 7.30 in the morning and were told we probably had a few hours wait till lunchtime for the section. I had been so nervous, so I was suddenly very tired so I lay down on the bed and went to sleep. Two minutes later the midwife ran in again and said "change of plan you're on now!" and rushed me up to the theatre. I was really nervous walking in and there were about 15 people all scrubbed up and saying hello and I felt really weepy suddenly. They said they were worried about whether the spinal would work straight away, my back is not the skinniest so I was worried about whether they could tell where to put the needle. I sat still on the edge of the bed in the smallest ball I could get into for about 25 minutes while they prepped me and put the spinal in. It worked thank goodness and then they lay we on the table which was tipped by about 40 degrees to the left so there was not too much pressure on my arteries. My BP kept going crazily low so they squeezed (literally) 3 litres of saline and lots of drugs into me to combat that. The opening up took longer than expected as apparently I had a lot of scar tissue to go through from last time. DH said at one point he looked at the floor and there was a huge pool of blood spreading around that's when I smelt the burning which I later found out was them quarterising veins that were bleeding. After 25 minutes they lowered the screen so I could see them hold up a very white vernix-y squaking bundle of loveliness. They wrapped him in a towel and gave him to dh to hold while they closed me up. I was thrilled not to have a drain this time and my stiches are dissolvable so that brilliant too. They weighed and measured theo and then gave him back to dh while he (theo not dh) screamed for the rest of the operation. Then they put him on me for skin to skin while I was in recovery and he immediately stopped crying and opened his eyes to look at me for ages. I couldn't believe the instant bond and love that I felt for him straight away. I hadn't had this instantly with dd so it was a lovely surprise. He fed while I was in recovery and after an hour we went down to the ward.

The first 24 hours he was an angel. i woke him up every 3 hours ish for a feed and he slept the rest of the time. Then yesterday afternoon he started rooting away for a feed and hasnt stopped wanting it since. I am so tired today. I think that I'll mix breast and bottle feeding this time, so I can get a break till my milk comes in cos the poor lad is so tired from wanting to feed all night and not getting any milk and my nipples are agony so I expect with just a small bottle he might get a fwe hours kip in the night without it slowing down my milk coming in too much. I just have to take it a day at a time.

They let me out after 48 hours so I got back home just before lunch. It's so nice to be home, the ward was filthy and boiling hot and I like my house a whole lot more!

DD is being an angel, she's giving him kisses and cuddles. She was a bit unsure at the hospital but is more relaxed each day.

I've got some strong painkillers but am still in a whole lot of pain. generally the experience is so so much better than the horrible emergency one last time, I was up walking and having a shower the following morning. I have a neat scar but it does hurt and I asked dh to look at my back earlier and I have a huge bruise (about the size of a side plate!) on my back from the spinal which I dont remember from last time.

Sorry this must be a really long post by now but I dont know whether he'll be a quiet enough lad to let me type another for a while. Thanks for all your messages, dh printed them out and bought them to hospital yesterday for me to see bless him. I look forward to reading the next announcement now. What are the odds on who is next?

CONGRATULATIONS HOCKEYMUM. I glad the section went so well. You are home in record time. WHat does the little man weigh?

The stats thread indicates that Tortoishell should be next.

I cant wait to start the May Post Natal Thread.

I cant believe you are home so fast thanks for letting us know how you are I cant believe you are sitting at the PC either I thought you werent meant to do anything for a week I hope the pain goes away soon and congratulations again to you all

My baby is breech still and I have what apparently is called a pregnancy mask which looks like I have a dirty face not attractive I have nearly 5 weeks left but to be honest could quite happily have here now I am uncomfy have been told to rest loads hoping the baby might turn round !

crumpet · 23/04/2006 19:47

Big congratulations Hockeymum - it's hard to believe someone on this thread has actually got a baby, as it doesn't seem long since we were all checking in for the first time! So glad things went well.

I'm 38 weeks now and generally feel fine, although very achey in the afternoon/evenings and going through a patch of not sleeping well which is annoying. DD showed no signs of being early first time round, so I don't really expect anything will happen early with this one - but we'll see... Hope everyone is hanging in there for the last stretch.

ALICATS - so sorry to hear about your mum - no time is easy for something like this to happen, but it must be so poignant with your baby due. Words can't really help, but it may be some comfort to know that she had the joy of knowing that a new grandchild was on the way, and it may have been a good distraction for her to have this to think about instead of her illness in her last days.

lovecloud · 23/04/2006 20:06

Hello

Well I was convinced things were under way last night with my diarrhea and and cramps which is how my first labour started off.

I got up to wee about 8 times last night and kept checking for shows or waters... nothing Sad

Today baby hardly moved so called hospital and after laying still for a long time (something I find very hard to do) the baby started to move but very slowly so I guess he/she is just cramped up.

I think the baby is definitley engaged as i am aware of something between my legs and walk with my legs further apart than normal or yesterday.

With second babies this does not usually happen until the VERY end!!!

The niggly pains continue and I really feel like the time is near and not two weeks away... or is it wishful thinking???

tortoiseshell · 23/04/2006 20:10

Hi everyone - congratulations hockeymum! It is my due date today, but am not expecting anything for a few days. Baby is still moving lots, and is engaged, but dd (2nd pregnancy) was engaged a good 3 or 4 weeks before she actually made an appearance. I'm mentally ready for this one to be late, and don't feel like it's my due date today. Would be nice if it wasn't 2 weeks late like the other two were though!

Good luck anyone else who is imminent!!!!!

Bouj · 24/04/2006 00:25

Aaah, big congratulations hockeymum. Am so jealous that yours is on the outside!!

Totally with you lovecloud - have lost anything resembling patience, and want something to happen NOW!! Being induced with ds, I have no real idea what to expect with early signs, so am panicking at everything. Feel funny today though - no pains but loads of pressure, and just feel 'different'. Will probably be nothing now! Grrr, how much longer?!?!

momamia · 24/04/2006 08:29

Hockeymum

Welcome home to you and your little bundle of joy.
I'm really pleased that your section went ok.
I find out Friday whether they will let me go on to have VB or a section, as of now the baby is in the correct position and 2/5 engaged, so fingers crossed!!!!
Enjoy your little one and give him lots of cuddles and kisses,
:)

runtus · 24/04/2006 10:13

Congrats! Can't believe one of us has gone bang already.......................scary stuff!

I'm not due till the 24th, so have ages to go yet.................boo!

littlemisspiggy · 24/04/2006 10:32

CONGRATULATIONS HOCKEYMUM AND DAD AND WELCOME TO THEO!! Bet that beats 9months of sickness!!

Like a lot of you I am now feeling very uncomfortable (36 weeks) Momamia i'm due on the 24th so you're not alone. A good night' sleep is a distant memory and probably will be for some time. BUT this is my last week at work and I have got my hospital bag together (still a few last minute things to add) and sorted through DS baby clothes from the loft so that I have newborn to 6 mnths clothes to hand. It was quite emotional seeing DS1's tiny baby clothes again.
After this week I don't know how often I'll get on to MN.

thebecster · 24/04/2006 11:05

Congratulations Hockeymum! I'm so glad that it went better than last time. Theo is a lovely name.

DH and I went to our antenatal class over the weekend, which was brilliant. I knew a lot already, but I didn't know how low the stats for intervention were at my hospital so really reassuring. DH didn't know anything at all about babies or birth. A lot of things that I've been on at him about, (things we need to buy, support that I'll need), he just didn't realise how important it all was, but the class made it all clear to him. Which has helped me out a lot Grin

A couple came in to tell their birth story & brought their little 2 week old baby - so gorgeous! She only had a 4 hour labour though (start to finish!) - I won't get my hopes up too much for that one!!

I wonder who'll be next... Not me, I'm not due 'til 30th - think there might be a week of me sitting on this thread on my lonesome Envy

supersonic · 24/04/2006 11:33

Congratualtion to Hockeymum adn famnily I am pleased all went well!

I feel silly asking as this is my second baby but the baby is still moving around quite alot as I speak tIo can feel the rolls and movement really low down and also quite high I am 38 wks to day - 2ks to go - horay! my question is doe sthis mean that if the movement has reduced that you are no where near to giving birth? Mt DD1 who is nearly 5 was literally a few hours late and from when my waters broke she was born in 4 hours with no pain or any sign that I was in labour before hand - I am certainly under no illusion this could be totally different but cannot remember about babys movements - anyone any info!

Capes · 24/04/2006 11:50

CONGRATULATIONS TO HOCKEY MUM!

Know how you feel becster, I'm not due till the 28th, so am contemplating another 5 weeks jealously hearing about everyone having their babies whilst mine is still trying the great escape through my rib cage! :(
