Alicats, so sorry to hear your news.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I bet in a week or two I'll be worrying I can't feel enough!

My friend has been booked for her full induction on Sunday, no possibility of even a sweep today so she is nervous, but ready for anything to have the baby!

plama · 19/04/2006 16:21

Alicats, so sorry to hear about your mum.Wishing you extra strength to get through it all. Take Care.

Alicats, sorry to hear about your mum. I am glad you feel she is at peace now. Hope the funeral goes OK

cori · 19/04/2006 18:33

Had antenatal appointment today. Went fine, have some iron tablets to take because my levels are bit low.

Baby not engaged at all at the moment. Dont know what else I can do to get it moving. I have been very active lately, hmph not pleased.

Speaking to consultant today she said that if labour starts by it self I have 80% chance of having a VBAC. As I said before DS was c section as result of failed induction. She also mentioned that for first time mothers failure rate is 50%.

lovecloud · 19/04/2006 22:23

Alicats - you sound like such a strong person.

I bet your a great mummy :)

Sending you lots of hugs and happiness.

I am almost 38 weeks and I keep thinking... "its starting". Got so many period cramp pains throughout last night and today. The baby is pushing and stretching all the time.

I just can not wait and I should just be appreciating these last two weeks seeing as I have been here before and said to my dh "i cant believe we did not fit more early nights and sex :)!"

Instead I have wished the last 38 weeks away - typical! I really do feel I have wished them away as time as flown by so fast - scary!

The morning I tested I really expected it to be negative as I had used the early response only two days before my due date and got a neg so I was thinking I might as well use this one up. The previous months I had been convinced I was whilst sitting crying wishing the line to appear.

It really does not feel like 34 weeks ago!

So Friday is the big kick off?

Hockeymum - how do you feel?

hockeymum · 20/04/2006 08:31

Feel ok really. A bit apprehensive but I had such a pity party last week I think I talked myself through some of the worst case scenarios and now I'm not too worried about them. I really can't wait to meet this little man now and have him look at me, I remember that being the most perfect moment with dd and I'm glad I'll be a lot more with it this time having not been through 24 hours of labour first.

I have the hospital today for the pre-op assessments, bloods, a trace and a visit from the surgical team and the anaesthetist so I'm taking a good book with me and will try and enjoy the rest while I still can! I do wonder whether I get any sleep tonight, I have been finding it worse and worse each night this week, I guess your body just prepares you more and more for the intermittent sleep you get while up feeding a newbie!

Hope the rest of you are not feeling too worried about your imminent arrivals, wont it be lovely when we all have our babies?

Godd luck for tomorrow, i can't believe you will have your baby, still 4 more weeks for me yet. I can't wait!!
:)

runtus · 20/04/2006 09:07

Good luck - can't believe one of us is going to be a new mum by the weekend, seems so fast!

My mate has organised a baby shower type affair for me on the 30th (well, cake and and afternoon tea at a big country house up the road) so looking forward to that but really just want to get on with having the baby now.....I'm so impatient! I hate waiting for anything and this 9 months (plus I suppose 18 months of fertility treatment....) has been such a long time I think I am going to die with having to wait any longer! Sounds daft i know and of course i want this chap to be as healthy as possible, so want him in there full term - but all the same............HURRY UP ALREADY!

runtus · 20/04/2006 09:08

Ooh forgot to say - can't remember who it was but well done that person with your cooking! I knew I wasn't the only one that would think it was a good idea and be mad enough to actually get round to doing it..................we'll be pleased in the end!

Imafairy · 20/04/2006 09:21

hockeymum - good luck for tomorrow, looking forward to the birth announcement

Alicats - so sorry to hear about your mum. Big hugs and positive vibes to you. It must be really tough, but as someone already said, you sound strong, and soon you'll have a little Alikitten to hold. Stay strong.
x

Bouj · 20/04/2006 09:26

Just dropped in to say good luck hockeymum, will be thinking of you.

Saw obstetrician today, gave me an internal and I was hoping for a bit of good news, but am not close, sob sob... Fed up with feeling sick, and want this over with! He always looks at me and says 'so, are you well?' always forgetting I have been sick the whole bloody time! Felt like snatching my chart and scribbling 'I feel sick' on the damn thing... Oh, and I tried to get fitted for maternity bras today - can't find any that fit me! Bloody ginormous boosies.

Aah, that's better, rant over!

lovecloud · 20/04/2006 09:58

Bit embarassing...

Noticed that my bladder cant take the pressure anymore and my knickers feel damp alot. I have to keep checking its not my waters breaking. I have had it for a few weeks now, frantically doing pelvic floors but I think its just the pressure from the baby.

Any sneezes, coughs etc and a little bit comes out Blush

Please someone else tell me they are going through the same thing!!!!!!!!

sniff · 20/04/2006 10:15

Hockeymom best of luck tommorrow I shall be thinking of you all day I bet you are up to your eyes in jobs preparing for arrival so I hope you manage to get some rest x x x x

sniff · 20/04/2006 10:17

I get that leaking feeling alot to it is just pressure must admit I have thought it was waters once or twice not long to go now and you will have your bladder back to yourself!!!

thebecster · 20/04/2006 10:24

Hockeymum - GOOD LUCK - will be thinking of you!

Bouj - Oh I hear you... I've been sick every damn day of this pregnancy too. And my consultant/midwives also keep asking me if I'm feeling well and then when I say I'm still being sick they have the same little 'tips' for me. "Have you tried ginger tea?" "Yes, I tried it when you suggested it six months ago. It makes my vomit taste of ginger, but that's about all". "How about having dry biscuits when you first wake up?" "Well, you suggested that before too, but since I'm woken at 3am by the sound of my own retching it doesn't work too well for me". Etc. ad Groundhog Day! Maybe we should get Tshirts printed 'I am currently either feeling sick or being sick so please don't ask me how I am, just be glad you're not me' Smile

Lovecloud - so glad you said that... me too Blush The worst is that I can't hold onto my bladder anymore when I'm being sick, which leads to a tricky dilemma in the bathroom Blush. Am feeling a bit humiliated by the total lack of dignity of it all... Keep doing my pelvic floor exercises but they're clearly not strong enough.

We're almost there, hurrah! (just 5 more weeks for me).

louismummy · 20/04/2006 11:05

good luck hockeymum

cori · 20/04/2006 11:30

Hockeymum, good luck for tomorrow. WHat time are you going in?

Lovecloud, I have been wearing panty liners for a couple months now. Otherwise would not be comfortable at all. Happens to all of us i think

Was given some iron yesterday by consultant as level a little bit low. I took my first tablet at around 10.00 last night, and was then sick at about 2.00 in the morning. Still felt a bit sick this morning. Has any one else had this experience with iron?

nez · 20/04/2006 11:39

Good luck Hockeymum. Alicats, sorry to hear your news. Not long to go for all of us now, eh? Can't believe how time has flown by! Currently trying to practise folding a terry nappy...Oh dear! Have some Tots Bots shaped ones too, thankfully..May just end up getting disposables after all...!
I too have had the leaky problem..just a bit when I sneeze or laugh. ALso have been told this can be worse after giving birth..OH NO! Keep doing the pelvic floor exercises y'all!

runtus · 20/04/2006 12:03

Just booked a bikini wax for 10 days pre-due date - am I mad??? I know it will be more painful than normal but can't face going in looking like the wild woman of Borneo.........DP says I'm mad.
