Hi Everyone,

Hockeymum - Thanks for the tip i'll be trying that later, i don't want another labour like my first, it was very painful!!

Is anybody nervous about the birth, cos i am?

I've already got everything ready for the birth, my hospital bag is packed, so i'm ready any time.

I'll probably go over my due date like i did that last time.

:)

louismummy · 18/04/2006 14:55

I had an induction last time ( waters broke no contractions and there was muconium in the waters.) it took less than 12 hours from the time they inserted the pessary. My sis was about the same length of time for both hers at around 37 weeks... cos she had obstretic choloestasis with both hers.
Had a scan today not breech Grin cephalic big relief... made me feel better about scraping the car Wink. sending lots of love

lovecloud · 18/04/2006 15:26

Hello

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter.

I am 37 weeks and I think baby is getting uncomfortable as he or she wriggles and pushes so much it seemsI am not the only one getting bad sleep!

Gp said there is a small trace of protein in my urine but he is not worried as my bp is fine and I have no other symptoms. Still a bit worrying though!

I am so looking forward to the magic day, still not worried about it and just excited!!!!!!!!!!

I have not got all the things I need yet though.

Head is locked down!!!!!!

Here we go!!!!!

Cant wait to hear the first birth stories.

Who is soon to go, any 38/39 week people???

Seashells · 18/04/2006 15:34

My bet is on Hockeymum to be the first Grin, I can't believe we are all so close now! It only feels like yesterday that I stood there, jaw dropped, holding the positive test in my hand!

runtus · 18/04/2006 15:41

Juat had some great news - have managed to swing an appointment with the specialist on Friday! Think they are sick and tired of me ringing and generally being a pain in the proverbial........who cares!

I have that appointment at 9 and then a routine Dr's appointment at 11.15 so hopefully I will have a good all round picture of what it means by lunchtime on Friday - woo hoo.

I can't believe someone is booked in for the big off on Friday - how quick does that feel like it's come round?! Biot scary really but bloody exciting at the same time!

Am I the only one not to have had any Braxton hicks yet??

thebecster · 18/04/2006 16:37

Hello everyone! Haven't been around for a while as I was having a rest up at my parents' and they don't have this newfangled internet thing. Am feeling much better now, and it's just bliss not to have to go into work any more! Can't believe we're all so close now - I'm 34 weeks today... gulp! I'm definitely feeling nervous about the birth, but excited too. Runtus - hope all goes well with the specialist, I'm glad that you've got an appointment now. Sometimes it pays to be a pain in the behind, doesn't it? Smile

hockeymum · 18/04/2006 18:40

Runtus, glad you got an appointment. i get most places in life by being a pain in the proverbial too! Well done you. It'll be much better than sitting fretting for another two weeks. Don't worry about the lack of BH. I didn't have any with my first and other people seemed to have loads, it's only this time that I've had them (and then I get cross cos practice contractions are pointless when the baby is coming out of the trap door anyway!)

OP posts:
hockeymum · 18/04/2006 18:42

theBecster - forgot to ask is the sickness easing off at all now you've stopped work? Hope you're having less 4am hugging the toilet moments now. I bet you'll do one last huge evacuation just after the labour and then not be sick again till next time. here's hoping!

Can I ask a possibly really stupid question? I'm 36 weeks, all seems to be fine but baby has increased her movement MASSIVELY in the last 2 days. She normally has a vague pattern of morning and evening/night movement. Since Monday she hasn't stopped, huge fast movements for hours on end. Before, if she had a bit more of an active day she'd have a 'rest' day after but not at the moment. I feel stupid for worrying about too much movement but it is just so different. Is anyone else getting this?

momamia · 19/04/2006 09:46

hi everyone,

runtus - i've not had any BH yet either, my first time round, i had them just for a couple hours just 2 days before i actually gave birth.

I'm not feeling my best today, i keep getting stomach ache and really bad wind pains. This has got worse since i've been taking iron tablets, does anybody else have the same problem?

:(

runtus · 19/04/2006 09:47

Not a stupid question, in fact I almost asked the same thing about 2 weeks ago. I'm 37 weeks today and although it has quietened down again now, this baby suddenly got loads more active a couple of weeks ago too. Think he has had a growth spurt since then and now hasn't got so much room but he def seemed to be making the most of it a couple of weeks back.............I decided in the end thathe was stretching his legs for the big push towards the end !

momamia · 19/04/2006 09:59

my baby is quite active aswell sometimes it feels like she is doing somersaults, it makes me fell quite sick sometimes with amount of movements, but i suppose i'd rather have an active baby, at least i know shes quite happy bouncing about in there.
I'm 35 weeks now, i feel that this pregnancy has gone really quick, i found out when i was 5 weeks, it just seems like yesterday.
I'm still nervous about the birth, but really excited at the same time.
Its amazing how much love you can have for someone that not even born yet. I'm Being abit soppy now.
:)

squidgeymiller · 19/04/2006 12:53

hi all,

Lovecloud - I had trace protein in my urine too the last couple of appts and my MW said just to drink more clear fluids (water, diluting juices etc) as everything else seems ok.

Also - I'm 38+4 today so getting close.

I was having BH while I was at work but they seem to have eased off now that I'm not at work any more. I will be upping my raspberry leaf tea drinking as the head is not engaged at all still so thinking I'm probably going to be overdue (which I really don't want - any time now would be good!)

Hockeymum - good luck for Friday - can't believe the 1st baby's coming so soon!!

Fenny1 - I shouldn't worry about the increase in movement - mine suddenly started moving much much more too at about 34 weeks and had a growth spurt (I think) and then calmed down after a week or so.

Does anyone know anything I can do to make baby engage? Is it just a matter of walking around lots? I get quite nasty pains down below when I walk for a while.

re inductions - my friend was induced for her 1st baby at 12 midnight and baby was born at 8am. Epidural at 1am. She said it was pretty painful but I think it will be no matter what!

helsi · 19/04/2006 12:56

Hello all - update from me.

I am 37+1 today and thought I was in labour last night!! Baby constantly moving for an hour moving lower down and terrible lower back ache and a pulling pain in lower region. Eased off after an hour and a half but goodness it was weird.

2 weeks today I will have had my little one as they are doing the op in the morning of 3rd May.

bubbles28 · 19/04/2006 13:02

Momamia..... I'm taking iron tablets too, when i started them one of the Midwives said they can cause upset stomachs, she said if that happens it might be worth trying another type/brand as they might not be absorbing properly. By the way I'm 35wks too..... and think it's compulsory to be soppy at this stage!!!!!Wink
Start NCT classes tonight.
Hope everyone else is well.

momamia · 19/04/2006 13:37

bubbles28

i think that i will tell the midwife about the tablets next time i go, if i keep getting stomach ache, i've been on them now 2 weeks, they should have settled in my system by now.

By the way what is your due date.
:)

momamia · 19/04/2006 13:44

squidgeymiller

sorry mate no tips on how to engage the head, i guess its just a waiting game.

I went to see my midwife 2 weeks ago and i was 33 weeks, when she checked me over she told me that she was 3/5 engaged which i thought was a bit early considering its my second.

I hope your baby engages soon!!!:o

hockeymum · 19/04/2006 13:44

momamia - iron tablets are horrible at making you feel bad. Have they been presribed or are you self medicating? I can't tolerate any type of iron tablets so I take Spatone which is a natural iron supplement (so not a treatment) but it really works at upping my ferritin and haemoglobin and doesnt cause any tummy troubles at all.

Try taking yours with orange juice which helps the absorption or at different times of day with or without food so you know what makes them more palatable to you. If they make you constipated try some dried apricots or fresh pineapple.

If all else fails, think that at least you will feel a bit better post partum and have less need for them after the baby is born.

Fenny1 - it is usual to get a big change of movements as the due date gets a bit nearer. Mine got more active at 34 weeks and then had a really quiet time at 36-38 weeks so I was having to go for traces at the hospital a few times as I didnt feel any movements at all for a few days. As the space they occupy gets a bit tighter for them and as they have growth spurts they are more wakeful or more sleepy. Don't worry about too many movements but if you get less than 10 periods of movement in 12 hours phone the antenatal assessment unit or the hospital so they can do a trace to get the baby moving!

Hockeymum

I was prescribed the iron tablets by my midwife cos that last blood test i had my levels were low, this happened exactly the same in my first pregnancy, but i don't recall getting stomach ache, maybe its because im carrying a girl this time???

I will try taking it with orange juice and see if that helps.

Whens your baby due?

:)

Hello All - an update from me

I am now 37 weeks + 1, I went to the hosp last week and they told me db was still breech and I would deffo have to have a c section at the beg of may - they even booked me a date etc. They would not consider doing an ECV on me as it was too risky, well db is very active and the last couple of nights it feels like somersults have been going on it there so tomorrow we are going to get the position checked again, as it feels like db has moved downwards - so I'l let you know if anything changes.

Emotionlly I been very up and down as my mum passed away last Thursday afternoon very unexpectadly but peacefully so this was a bit of a shock but she was suffering so she doesn't have to go through that anymore, its just now organising the funeral etc and trying to fit it in before I give birth as the coroner needs to be involved on this one so were awaiting for the certificate of death etc. Me and dp have decided to give the middle name in honour of mum if it is a girl. Thanks for all you kind words and support it has been greatly much apprieciated.

Hockeymum - Good Luck for Friday and welcoming the first db from our thread into the world.

Bubbles / Momomania - I was taking iron tablets too and they made me feel funny for a while so I mentioned this to my m/w and she reccommended either lots of dark chocolate or a product you can get at the heath shop called Floradex - you could try that if your not getting on ok with the pills.

Hope everyone else is feeling fine and getting exited as it is getting so near now - time feels its going so quickly at the mo.

Take Care & lots of Huggs x
