Agreed BonaDea us teachers have been super lucky, always thought I'd want a September baby to make most of hols at end of pregnancy but definitely timed it perfectly for coping with the all day morning sickness!! Massive hugs and congrats to those ladies not currently on hols!

FactOfTheMatter · 31/08/2012 17:25

September babies make the most of summer hols at both ends! But they do cost you an extra year in child care... But April babies will be very well timed start mat leave just after the Easter hols , so it's not all doom and gloom Grin

HaveALittleFaith · 31/08/2012 17:31

And if you work anywhere with an April-April financial year, you can use holiday from both rolling years Wink

timetomoveon · 31/08/2012 18:13

Teacher here too - just finished my second week back. It does help to keep super busy at school but as soon as I get home I just crash on the sofa. Luckily dh is a teacher too and so gets home the same time as me and then makes dinner while I am alternately napping and vomitting.

Not felt too bad with the sickness today, but think I'm going have to crack open the bottle of gaviscon already didn't hit until much later with DS.
And I'm convinced I felt a small kick earlier! Maybe not a kick but a body bump?
I remember feeling DS at around 14 weeks

I am actually quite jealous of you ladies and your increasing waist lines and chatter about maternity clothes. Because I'm not eating properly at the moment, I'm actually losing weight!

I've got my early scan on Monday morning, and I'm really starting to get nervous about it. I'm convincing myself that it's all going to be ok because of all the symptoms I have this time, but there's still no guarantee. :(

Hey Ladies,
Anyone taking pregnacare max, I've just bought a box (84 tablets) in morrisons for £2.17!?! Which seems exceptionally cheap. Not sure if that's in every store or just a mess up at my local store but I'm defo stocking up! Worth a look tho.
X

ratbagcatbag · 31/08/2012 21:09

Ok ladies as its Friday night I've got a well TMI story to tell you, so if very esily offended ignore and don't read.

I was actually horrified today and realised this pushing a baby out lark is going to be very painful, I will now fill you in (if you're still reading of course) how I came to this earth and every bloody thing else shattering conclusion.

It involves sainsburys and pregnacare.

So today I was doing my weekly shop freshly back from my hol in Wales, half way around sainsburys I had to go to the toilet, not a this can wait kind of feeling, but literally crap I need to go. I abandoned my trolley and off I went.

I settled down and prepared to, well, go for a number 2.
Oh my god. Talk about bloody constipation, I was dying to go, but no amount of jiggling, rocking backwards or forwards or anything was working, thankfully in our toilets they are very considerate and have hand rails for more elderly customers, handbag was chucked on the floor and I had a death grip on each rail, knuckles turning white, I tell you I panted like I had been to numerous ante natal groups, and had frigging spots dancing in front of my eyes, if I'd been at home I woud have yelled fr good measure but as this would likely call attention to my plight I bit down on my coat instead.
Finally, finally after an age the issue was resolved, however I'm dead certain that what I did, was nowhere near the size of a baby ( I didn't look, that would be too gross even by my standards) but it can't have been, which means I am going to die when I have it get a baby out. Anyway I'm so pleased to share my concerns with you and I've ditched pregnacare now in favour of colic acid :)

ratbagcatbag · 31/08/2012 21:10

Folic even.

LoobyLou33 · 31/08/2012 21:10

Yes to work clothes issues..OOh - NCT sales are great for maternity wear. You don't have to be a member to go. I got a dress and a top for £5.00 together! I also raided local charity shops...don't forget, you don't always need maternity clothes, I bought a few non-mat floaty/smocky tops that worked for my last pregnancy.

angel how are you feeling? Is your bug over? Sounded nasty. Hugs too for you ladies having full on MS...knitting and some others. I do hope it doesn't last too long!

The nausea's really getting my down. I literally barely stop eating from 9am til 9pm, despite having virtually no appetite! It even carries on at night unless I eat a lot in the evening. Sorry to go on - it helps to let off some steam! It was bad last time but think not quite so bad as this.

Sorry this is a long post! Phoned GP yest to book MW appt, but first I have to see the nurse? Bit bizarre.

Respect to you teachers! I tihnk being at work is easier in some ways but must be tiring being on your feet all day while feeling tired and sick. Here's to low-stress days in the classroom!! Smile

LoobyLou33 · 31/08/2012 21:17

ratcatbag...eek! No fun having that experience in Sainsburgs! I had a CS so can't comment on the pushing stage, but famously asked my mum as a child "is having a baby like doing a hard poo?" Blush

enjay0811 · 31/08/2012 21:24

catch got my fingers crossed tht all is ok for u. How r u today?

wombat your not the only one whose hse is suffering, I've been struggling to find the energy to bath dd's the last wk!

bonadea do the bump bands sort of hold u in then?

ifatfirst hope all goes ok with the scan

I've been rough today, had to stop mid conversation in work a few times cos I thought I was gonna b sick! Luckily, nobody noticed! Def worse when I'm hungry which has turned into bout every 2 hrs atm!

Work clothes wise, think I'll have to invest in some tunics/dresses to go over leggings. Just hope this flipping heatwave don't happen, heat, layers and morning sickness = eurrgh!

HaveALittleFaith · 31/08/2012 21:26

Don't forget to take your vitamin D too Llou! I too am suffering with the constipation. Not quite to your extent but I have IBS so I'm used to it to a certain extent. I find probiotic yoghurts very helpful.

Giddypants · 31/08/2012 21:30

Oh ratbag you poor thing, I ask my mum what it was like to give birth she said it was like someone ripping you open, mmmm thanks mum, I had a section and will be having another one this time.

My friend has been induced today eeeek

enjay0811 · 31/08/2012 21:40

ratbag I was just laughing out loud at that! Ha you wonder why ppl poo during labour?! ...midwife had to scoop it out of the birth pool when I was having dd1 Blush

LoobyLoo where do you find out where nct sales are? Sounds good! Bought a floaty/loose tops in primark yesterday, £5 and £3, bargain!

CatchAsCatchCan · 31/08/2012 21:48

Thanks for asking, enjay, still not feeling great. Spent most of the day in bed; I think being up with cramps and bleeding made me sleep all tensed up, bc my neck and shoulders are really tight and sore. Red spotting kept up most of the day. When DH got home from work I had a proper cry; it feels like we've been trying forever (I know 18 mos isn't that long, but hormonal exaggeration, I suppose), and I feel like my body just keeps letting us down.

Anyway, cramps have started again, but spotting has gone back to light and brown, so who even knows... Still just waiting and seeing what the next few days bring, and maybe the scan will have good news.

EssexWelsh · 31/08/2012 21:56

ratbag I can actually top that and again tmi do not read on, I had the exact same in Bruges 2 weeks ago, ran into a Mcdonalds had to find 0.75€ to use toilet then was so bad I was in there for 30 mins, most pain I've ever experienced, was even sweating and had to 'help' it out, was soul destroying, DP waiting outside thinking I'd fallen in as naturally couldn't think anything else as us women folk do not have bodily functions-we never discussed it of course! I now think pain relief the way to go-can they just knock me out and wake me up with a beautiful baby and a tummy tuck Wink

JaquelineHyde · 31/08/2012 22:04

Evening ladies, sorry I haven't caught up properly, I have just got back from a few days in Southampton where we had to go for a wedding and I am utterly wiped out.

It was a miserable time and all I wanted to do was come home but on the plus side we did pop into the Mamma's and Pappa's store before we came home and got all giggly and excited looking at stuff.

I hope you are all well and not suffering too badly with all these symptoms. My sickness peaked the day of the wedding and has now subsided (bloody typical) but I am exhausted, have soaking knickers and serious bloating issues. However, the pains I was feeling have mostly gone so hurrah for now.

Off to stick my feet up for a few days and get over the trip. Look after yourselves ladies.

bunnygirl80 · 31/08/2012 22:23

ratbag I had to giggle at your story. Tbh for me the pushing stage felt exactly like having a very large poo, and not much more intense on the pain front either! The hypnobirthing course I did last time recommended practicing the breathing while having a poo,and I did help witH constipation

catch hope your scan brings you good news

I actually feel a bit sorry for all you teachers being off work. The only time I feel vaguely human is when I'm working, I think it's easier to put mind over matter and just get on with things when you're too busy to think about it

timetomoveon · 01/09/2012 07:34

ratbag like bunny says, pushing for me last time was like having a giant poo. In fact one of my friends described it as 'like pooing a pineapple' Grin

I need to find some clothes, well, trousers really. I've got one pair of 'fat' work trousers that I can fit in but the others I'm wearing with the hair bobble trick and a bump band. Except now it's the weekend and my jeans feel really tight and uncomfortable on my tummy - I can't bear things touching my tummy atm.

Hope everyone has a relaxing, non-sick weekend Smile

HaveALittleFaith · 01/09/2012 07:45

I find it strange that people are already needing maternity clothes! Probably because I'm the late end of the month (6+1 today) and because like ifatfirst, I've lost weight since I've become pregnant. I think that's down to only wanting savoury food so I'm not scoffing sweet, complex carbohydrates!

Pooing a pineapple......I'm really just not thinking about that bit yet. Just taking it week by week!

enjay0811 · 01/09/2012 09:18

For those who are bloating, have you already got dc? This is dc3 for me and can't remember gettin a belly this early on with the other 2. Must b the complete lack of tummy muscles Confused

As for pushing, my dd1 felt like I was pooing a football! She was back to back and not very easy labour at all. Dd2 was was much easier, more like a small melon Wink

Lovely dh has taken the kids downstairs this mornin and let me have a lie in but need to get up soon before my tummy starts rumbling n get tht horrible sick feelin! Have a good day everyone! X

enjay0811 · 01/09/2012 09:23

catch good news the bleeding has eased up. If you are really worried, could you go to a&e and ask for a scan earlier? When I was spotting last week tht's what my Dr advised if it got worse? Might help put your mind at rest? Sending big hugs, thinking of you x

aufaniae · 01/09/2012 10:09

Can't tell if I'm bloating or not. I have a huge belly anyway (often get offered seats on trains) I looked like I was about 8 months pregnant before I got pregnant.

I'm going to be feckin huge by the time I am actually very pregnant!

timetomoveon · 01/09/2012 10:15

Havealittlefaith I checked this morning and I've actually lost 3 pounds since getting my bfp but my belly is definitely bigger as are my boobs. By the afternoon/evening my belly looks enormous so I'm not sure where I've lost these mystery few pounds from.
I've already got 1 ds, so I guess my belly is remembering very quickly how to stretch and grow!
