Hi catch, at the scan this mornin they said tht yolk sac is visible from 4 wks and heartbeat from 6 so u shld see something. Symptom wise, I still don't have sore boobs at all but am feelin shattered and swing wildly between forcing myself to eat and ravenous!

Lola06 · 30/08/2012 22:55

I can hardly fit into anything at the moment as I am so bloated. Look like I'm 6 months pregnant at the moment, although I hardly had a flat tummy before this but work people must think I've totally ate all the pies! Living in dresses and leggings at the moment and will invest in some maternity clothes if the 12 week scan goes well next week.

Saw a post earlier from Mama1980 who was having some bleeding but can't find it again to tell her I hope everything is ok, so Mama1980 if you are reading this then I hope you had some good news at the end of it all. x

Hi all, I've been offline for the past few days as rl caught up. Trying to get sorted for going back to work but I still can't get into my classroom to set up for the new school year as the teacher who is moving out is not moving her stuff until Monday. Trying not to get stressed about it and really glad I packed my classroom up and got it all shifted over at the start of the holidays. I have also (lied) told her I have hurt my back so cannot move her stuff - she is a real hoarder and the room and cupboards are stacked to the ceiling!

Beyond that, my nausea seems to have been less over the past few days as long as I eat pretty regularly throughout the day. My hairdresser has a theory that wanting savoury means a boy and wanting sweet food means you are having a girl. Not sure it is right - I have a sweet tooth all the time and already have 2DDs.

I have yet to be contacted by the midwife - still early days - but this pregnancy does seem to be dragging more than my previous two. I don't know if I am just more aware of the risks (I am REALLY old this time!) or maybe it is just because it is the summer holidays so I have time to think about it. I would also love an early scan for reassurance - but then I know I am lucky to not NEED an early scan: no bleeding or spotting, no previous mc - which, I think on balance, is good for me...

Dysgu · 30/08/2012 23:07

oh enjay re work clothes - I have bought two pairs of maternity trousers off ebay ready to go back to work next week. All of my normal clothes are so tight they make my bump look huge already - they have adjustable waists so should grow with me but at least they are comfortable right now.

I did read somewhere that the bloating is often caused by not drinking enough water?

EssexWelsh · 30/08/2012 23:11

There seem to be so many teachers on here! I too prepping myself ready for next week Grin

SneezySnatcher · 31/08/2012 07:09

Another one here getting ready for school next week! I have bought some adjustable maternity trousers for work as, although my normal clothes still fit ok, I needed new work trousers and it seemed stupid to buy normal ones that might only fit for a fortnight!

MrsSimkins · 31/08/2012 07:20

Morning ladies,
I'm also struggling with work clothes, they fit fine in the morning but halfway through the day I'm really uncomfortable. I've had to tell work at 9 weeks as 2 other girls in my department are also 9 and 8 weeks pg and decided to tell management so I thought it would seem bad for me to know about them say nothing for 3 weeks. My boss is prentending to be happy for us but can see he's actually fuming. How strange is that for 3 of us to be due so close to each other (none of us knew any of us were trying) plus there'll be 2 more off on maternity with babies due Nov and Jan!?!
As for symptoms still having very little I'm stlightly more tired and getting bloated after lunch. I read that a few people were finding pregnacare was causing constipation. I'm taking pregnacare and am anything but constipated!
Hope everyone has a good day
Xxx

wishfulthinking1 · 31/08/2012 07:24

Another teacher not looking forward to next week here! I went in yesterday to get things sorted but three hours later I was so exhausted I had to come home, so back in today. I'm worried about how I'll cope with the tiredness and 31(!) little darlings! I'd be alright if I could just get a proper night sleep! Insomnia central!!

New symptom alert- mega nose bleeds- like I've never had before! Interweb says its common, so not worried- but hope not to get one in front of the kids- they're fairly terrifying!!

X

CatchAsCatchCan · 31/08/2012 07:52

I've been sooo bloated, despite necking water constantly. Have permanently moved into my leggings and loose dresses.

May have spoken too soon yesterday (anyone else notice that as soon as you give an update to somebody, everything changes again? I need to keep my big mouth shut). Woke up last night with cramping and bright red blood. Sad

No clots, cramps have stopped, and I think it's tapering off this morning, but still gutted. My scan next Wednesday can't come quickly enough now.

Knittingnovice · 31/08/2012 08:57

catch hope everything goes ok for you.
I have a real dilemma maternity clothes wise this time as for the last 2 pg's I have worked so relied on a pair of long tall Sally black trousers I got from eBay (am 6foot tall) and 3 black tops, this time I'm a sahm as I was made redundant while on ml with dd and haven't been able to find another job, so I need jeans etc (I do not do leggings) and can't find any so at the moment I am squeezing into normal stuff and might be for a while yet
Much respect for all you teachers as well, with ds about to start yr I am in awe of you coping with 30 odd children evey day and not loosing your rag with them.
More sickness here today and a headache I just can't seem to shake, although I do remember these from dd's pregnancy.

Missmuffet28 · 31/08/2012 09:16

Had my first appt with midwives last night I know it's kinda early at 6.5 weeks but I was feeling so anxious I wanted to talk with someone after my own gp fobbed me off!!
Won't see anyone now until my 12 week scan so another 5.5 weeks to wait which I feel is so cruel to newly pregnant anxious ladies, I have done nothing but worry! I may already have one but it was over 10 years ago!

Had a load of bloods taken went through all the bumpf in the notes, discussed that bleeding was probably implantation bleeding and not to worry even tho it was after sex(before I had my bfp)???
So feel a little more at ease with it all still won't be telling many people even tho I'm dying to!!
If my last pregnancy was anything to go by I know I'm in for a rough time I spent pretty much 9 months in bed sick on iron tablets, I woke up to try and eat or go to toilet and that was about it!!
Already I have had sickness for about 2 weeks :( so I'm feeling quite sorry for myself because I'm starving!!!! But putting food near my mouth makes me want to vom!!!

JessieEssex · 31/08/2012 09:29

catch fingers crossed all is OK.

Today (9+2) is when I had a mmc last pregnancy (had a scan at 9+5 but mmc measured 9+2). I have been nervously waiting for this day to pass but am pleased to be feeling very sick this morning.

The strangest thing happened this morning though - I swear I felt the baby move. Now, I know that this is so so so unlikely and presumably wind / stretching etc, but it was like a serious of tiny taps deep in my pelvis. I like to think it was the baby saying 'don't worry, I'm still here'. Sniff.

Dandelion75 · 31/08/2012 09:47

Absolutely with you on the work clothes front. It's getting very difficult. Have resorted to wearing loose tops not tucked in so I can leave a top button undone on my trousers. Usually end up unzipping them too when I'm driving home from work..... Just got to get through 2 more weeks at work then off on hols for a week and will tell my colleagues when I get back. My boss has known for ages, as she knew I was having IVF (had to tell her due to needing strange bits of time off for treatment).

Been to the dentists this morning and was surprised to find my checkup was completely free! I thought I would have to pay as don't have a certificate or any proof I'm pg, but they immediately said there would be no charge. Result!

Now off to catch a train for a work meeting in London Angry. Who in their right mind organises a meeting in London from 4 til 7 on a Friday? Idiots. Won't be home before 9.30 tonight, by which time I'm usually in bed these days Grin

HaveALittleFaith · 31/08/2012 09:51

Don't you find it weird no-one wants proof you're pregnant? We says this after seeing the midwife yesterday. They just take your word for it, don't retest or anything!

Work clothes is off for me, I wear uniforms - tunics and trousers. Can wear the trousers slightly unzipped initially! But will need maternity tunics later on.

HaveALittleFaith · 31/08/2012 09:52

Oh and 6+0 today :)

trying2bpos · 31/08/2012 10:08

jessie same thing happened to me a couple of years ago but at the 9 week scan baby only measured just over 7. I have a 9 week scan next week and I'm terrified! Hope you're doing something nice today to take your mind off it.

Funny you should say that about moving I've had a similar fluttering feeling occasionally to . But with all my flab I doubt I'd be able to feel it for months yet anyway!

trying2bpos · 31/08/2012 10:11

Oh and I'm the same re: tight trousers. Have two pairs of normal trousers that fit as they're quite low but then my belly pokes out! Gave in and wore an old pair of maternity trousers at the weekend but was terrified the family (niece and PIL) would recognise them and twig!

bunnygirl80 · 31/08/2012 11:04

My work trousers fit fine in the mornings, I have to undo the top button after lunch, and then unzip them completely on the way home Grin I'm determined not to wear maternity clothes until I've at least had a scan and seen there really is a baby in there.

MumofWombat · 31/08/2012 11:40

I'm only 8+6 and my jeans really won't last many more days (but it is the start of spring tomorrow so hopefully it will start getting warmer so I can wear the huge shorts I wore when I was pregnant with DS!) and I am so bloated - I don't think its a bump as I never actually got one last time (I got a bum...) - and also I'm just a bit (aka a lot) windy.
I'll feel okish for a day and then dreadful the next day, only been sick twice and both times my stomach was empty so I'm trying to eat smaller meals and loads of snacks. Also I'm bone achingly tired all the time. Thankfully my parents arrive in the very early hours of tomorrow morning so I'll have some help with a teething toddler/cleaning etc (please tell me I'm not the only one whose house is a tip - between no energy and feeling crap I'm only getting the minimum done).
I've got the date for my scan and my parents will still be here so they are thrilled that they might get to see Kookie (short for Kookaburra - DS was Wombat when I was pregnant) and also for my first antenatal appt. I'll be having the baby in the main maternity hospital in WA because I'm high risk (there's a chance that this baby will have the same rare heart conditon as DS) but its an amazing place and I trust them, they picked up that there was an issue with DS at 38+3, another hospital had had the same results but didn't act upon them...

Giddypants · 31/08/2012 12:05

jessie simelar thing happened to me I was 14 weeks went for a dating scan and tiny bean measured 9 weeks and no HB.Sad

Do you have to have the white tent as well hihowareyou? Not looking forward to that I'll keep nipping down to the sewing room for bigger tunics then I'll do a stint in scrubs before I'll have to wear the white tenT!

Just been to the drs and got my bounty pack no mw appointment for another 2 weeks though!

Giddypants · 31/08/2012 12:06

BonaDea · 31/08/2012 16:05

Ha ha - am glad it is not just me on the work trousers front. Done up in the morning, button undone (secured with hairband) in afternoon, fully unzipped on the drive home.

I'm also reluctant to buy anything new until 12 week scan is done for 'jinxing' reasons, but I'm not sure another 3.5 weeks is really feasible! On impulse tried some M&P maternity trousers on the other day and of course they were absolutely massive and I would imagine they would remain massive for the next couple of months.

What's the plan, then? Dresses until then? Can't really wear leggings to work...

Oh, and I have a couple of bump bands which supposedly help your ordinary trousers last longer...

Teapig · 31/08/2012 16:30

I'm wearing dresses for work mostly and long tops over my usual trousers which is ok for now. Hoping not to buy maternity wear before 12 week scan but not sure how feasible that is especially as I'm pigging out at the moment.

Emmie10 · 31/08/2012 16:47

There are a lot of teachers on this thread! Just finished my third week back at school (Scotland) and I have to say, I find the weekdays easier than weekends. Think the kids keep you so busy that you don't have time to think about how tired/sick you feel.

8+2

BonaDea · 31/08/2012 16:54

I think the teachers should just think about the rest of us mere mortals who have had to be at work the whole time rather than having 6 weeks off to deal with early pg symptoms Grin
