Definitely not 50 shades here either. Just luck. (Oh, and having sex! But we could do that without Mr Grey... Grin )

wishfulthinking1 · 29/08/2012 11:02

Hi all-
angel- that sounds horrid. I say rest up today and if no better tomorrow then try to get a dr app before you fly.

I'm slightly less stressed today. My lovely dr is on holiday so had a phone call from a not so lovely dr. I'm sure she was fine, just quite blunt and made me cry! She said not to worry about missing my pg tablets whilst on honeymoon, that lots of people don't even know they're pg yet so haven't started taking them- plus there's no point dwelling, what's done is done etc. I also said about having a private scan, she said she wouldn't recommend it as lots of women who see a hb at an early scan then go on to mc find it all the more traumatic because they'd seen a hb. She then went on to remind me of the frequency that people mc, so just try to wait it our. She wasn't particularly cheerful about the whole thing- I was really upset when I got off the phone, but dh rightly pointed out that she's just stating facts.

On the plus side, I feel like shit today!! Not sure if it's pg related of just jet-lag / post - holiday blues but I'm EXHAUSTED! And everytime I try to do something I feel queasy and just so so tired. I've not thrown up or anything- I'm a first timer- does what I describe sound like morning sickness? fingers crossed it does!!
X

growyourown77 · 29/08/2012 11:55

wishful - i'm feeling the quease something rotten since yesterday. Not been sick yet, but feeling on the verge every 15 mins or so. I seem to be better in meetings where there's the distraction of talking than at my desk. I've eaten a whole big bag of salty potato squares this morning, at the time of eating I couldn't get enough of them with their salty, crunchy goodness, but now i feel queasy again.... hmm.

Re: the scan and dr - what a miserable outlook they all have. she is just giving you the facts, but it just reiterates their negative view that pregnancies aren't real until 10 weeks. whether you have a scan or not is unlikely to make you more or less disappointed if the bean doesn't hold.

after our previous loss, we're grateful for the scans and have decided to take a more optimistic approach, try to enjoy being pregnant and what will be will be. it's already real to us, so job done. Plus, being happy about it surely helps put up with all the queasiness and other hormonal symptoms (I look like a teenager again I've that many spots!). Smile

So go with what works for you and DH/DP.

Xx

Oh ladies we're a worrisome lot aren't we?

I think we need a new thread motto:

PUPO = Pregnant Until Proven Otherwise

(I have shamelessly stolen that from some very wise women elsewhere on MN but I don't think they'll mind)

Hello all. I had my 'Early Bird' session with a MW today so now I feel like things are moving. They said I should have my booking appointment next week (I'll be ten weeks according to LMP). They've given me a due date of 4th April, but I think it's more likely 11th due to cycle length. The scan will be more accurate.

My booking appointment will be at home, which is nice, and then when it's booked it will 'trigger' a scan appointment. I had to do a CO2 monitor at the appointment (even though I don't smoke) which was hard work!

The MW said I'll be monitored due to having PE last time, but she said it's less likely in subsequent pregnancies.

ratbagcatbag · 29/08/2012 12:46

Hi lovely ladies.

I can't remember who asked what questions but I'll answer away anyway.

I keep getting cramping then discovering its not so trapped wind. I have eaten no fruit or veg in two weeks I just do not fancy it. I do however want sweet sugary crud all day long and crusha strawberry bloody milkshake, I'm drinking pints of the stuff :)

I think it was Jacqueline?!? Who asked if anyone else hadn't had early scan, I haven't. I considered it but then saw it can cause spotting and as I've had none then I figured I didn't want to tempt fate.

We're defo having a fifty shades baby, book two to be exact. :)

And finally a tmi question so apologies, when I'm going to the toilet I'm noticing my underwear is slightly damp, not blood or anything, I think just normal but more than normal, is anyone else having this since pregnancy??

Anyway off to get ready to go charge through some woods with laser guns for two hours and hopefully kick DH and DSS ass at it :)

Take care all

edinfirst · 29/08/2012 12:56

Pregnant Until Proven Otherwise - yes, yes, yes. That is definitely the outlook I need and has really brightened my day. It's so easy to get bogged down worrying. I know a wee bit of anxiety is normal inevitable but I also know that that won't help or change anything. Someone else said about trying to enjoy it and I think that's definitely the right attitude. Before all this if I'd had a chance to sit on the sofa every evening and stuff my face all day with anything I fancy I'd have been in seventh heaven so I'm definitely going to try and make the most of it!

trying2bpos · 29/08/2012 13:33

Hello there, please can I be added to the very long and impressive april list! Don't want to know my EDD yet, silly I know and doesn't take much effort to work out especially with all you lot on here but will wait til the 12 week scan anyway (if I can).
Been reading along for a few days and decided I should be brave and just JOIN in! Had reassurance scan last week (as 3 MCs before DS born last June) all OK, so far so good!
A weird thing happened today though. Went to see my dentist and she said my gums were back to normal after having my son and when I told her I was pg again she said it doesn't show in my gums yet! Does this sound ridiculous to anyone/everyone else? I mean when i was pg with DS she said she could tell the sex from my gums which I ridiculed (she was right but then she had a 50:50 chance didn't she).
Paranoid, idiotic question but should I be worried because my GUMS don't look pg yet?
PS PUPO: I love it!

miarosemum · 29/08/2012 15:28

raatbag, i have been rather 'moist' in that area too...i read in another thread that it is really common at this stage as is the cervical plug forming! also no early scan here, no bleeding or spotting or anything else so no need to but am desperate for 12 week scan though all the same!

Knittingnovice · 29/08/2012 15:44

Afternoon all, totally agree with the extra moisture, have taken to carrying change of clothes for both dc's and spare knickers for me, just incase!!
Definitely not a 50 shades baby here, can't bear those sort of books am definitely more of a fantasy & sci if gal here (think game of thrones, terry Pratchet etc!!)
Am still in shock about this, although clothes are definitely beginning to be one tighter. Last night I would have sworn I had a bump!!
Have also just worked out that this bump will be 12 weeks exactly a year after I had my first chemo session, seems absolutely unreal.
Sorry if I keep banging on about it, but pregnant afterr cancer and chemo!?! I sound like I should be in one of those trashy mags you read I the hairdressers!!

aufaniae · 29/08/2012 15:56

Knittingvoice I'm not surprised you're in shock!

A friend of mine got pregnant many years after treatment for breast cancer. She was told she was infertile, and the hospital were amazed when she conceived and called her bump the "miracle baby". The "miracle baby" is now a lovely 19yo young woman. :)

So that was nearly 20 years ago, but it's still really rare these days, isn't it? If you're ever short of a bob or two you could indeed consider selling your story! Wink

I also love GOT type stuff btw. Been too busy being a student to watch any telly, just caught the occasional one here and there. Looking forward to watching the box set at some point in the future.

EssexWelsh · 29/08/2012 15:59

Having a lazy day on sofa today, dreading teaching next week feeling so crappy all day! Been so lucky to have had the school hols thus far! Received letter with dates, all very exciting-midwife booking in Sept 11th-hope not an ominous date! Scan Oct 1st, I'll be 13 weeks then, can hardly wait!

Only thing to get over now is tomorrow was the day I miscarried last time, so being very cautious with every little twinge and extra knicker checking today Sad

EssexWelsh · 29/08/2012 15:59

And with 50 shades, does it count that reading them now post conceiving to see what the fuss is about??

trying2bpos · 29/08/2012 16:35

Ha ha me too essex!

JessieEssex · 29/08/2012 16:43

Essex, I totally sympathise with the mc 'anniversary' stress - mine is on Friday - I'm trying (and failing) not to freak out... Had terrible pains earlier today and was convinced it was all over, and then the trapped wind 'released itself' shall we say...!

Giddypants · 29/08/2012 16:51

Not a 50 shades baby here although I have read them but they did nothing for me!
And yes with the knicker moistness errrr yes I remember this from last time it's awful I'm so embarrassed have to change when I'm at work when I'm wearing unbreathable polyester trousers.
Feeling really bad over the past few days, very nauseas especially in the evening, and before bed, and the tiredness I've taken to having a lie down when mum is here to torture play with DS
DH has offered to cook dinner but I'm really not fancying anything except bacon sandwiches with hp sauce mmmmmm

Giddypants · 29/08/2012 16:52

Bugger 9 weeks today

ratbagcatbag · 29/08/2012 17:07

Thanks ladies, I feel so much better knowing that I'm not the only one more moist these days haha.

I lost at laser games in the woods but bloody hell I'm knackered after doing it, I'm not normally this unfit. I also took a flyer on my backside down a hill due to mud. I currently look a right state and am queuing for the shower behind the teens. :)

Keeping everything crossed for the ladies who have mc anniversary dates coming up. I've never had one but willing that magic 12 week mark to get here.

9+2 do still feeling an oldie of the group.

ratbagcatbag · 29/08/2012 17:08

Do = so

LikeCandy · 29/08/2012 18:13

Hello All!
I'm now about 8+3 and have my booking on session with the midwife on Friday! Hurry up 12 weeks...
I am v nauseated, occasionally sick, no appetite, tired, bloated, spotty. So when does the pregnancy 'glow' kick in?!

It's so nice to read about how others are doing - I too wondered about the ahem moisture, it's quite disconcerting! It's interesting to see other people relying on crisps - I was until discovering that vomiting crisps is rather uncomfortable! (sorry!!)

steph2412 · 29/08/2012 18:25

Hi all just wondered how the ladies who have had prev mc are coping im trying to take ir day by day!also feelin a bit of extra moisture and so tired also im 7+1 and luk like i have a bump

EssexWelsh · 29/08/2012 18:56

Have been thinking about salad cream sandwiches on white bread all day and finally eating them! Is this a craving or just your regular fancying any person would have?

Dandelion75 · 29/08/2012 19:00

Brilliant news pontouf - glad to hear a good news story x

I seem to be losing symptoms over the last couple of days. Sicky feeling all gone and boobs not nearly as sore. Inevitably that's making me think something is wrong. Freaking out that if I had a mc I wouldn't know, as the bloody progesterone pessaries would apparently mask any symptoms. Can't wait to be rid of the damn things - only a few more days to go.

Still freakishly bloated though - had both trouser buttons undone all day at work, and had to unzip too as soon as got in the car to come home. It's only a matter of time before I have a major trouser mishap in the office......!

Lying on sofa watching Homes Under the Hammer to take my mind off it all Blush

Dandelion75 · 29/08/2012 19:07

....and now off for a salad cream sandwich - thanks essexwelsh!

Seems pretty normal to me Wink

magictorch · 29/08/2012 20:18

Oh thank god the moistness (ewwww) is normal. I thought my pelvic floor had gone already!

Dandelion I have to take the pessaries and oestrogen tablets until 24th September. Can't wait not to have that chore.

Got hold of my docs today and have to wait until 19th September to see the midwife, in the middle of the day. She only sees people between 1.30 and 3pm, so I'm trying to sort work out around this. I don't live anywhere near my workplace, so it's a bit of a logistical nightmare. Wondering if such restricted times are normal? I'll be 11+3 by then, so I think my 12 week scan will be late.

Can't wait to see baby again Grin

8+2 today
