Got my notes back from the midwife, to put in my folder. I really glad I checked them! Got to work out who to contact to get them corrected now.
There are three errors on them:
The most important one is this: I told her I'd had Hepatitis A as a baby. (I remember she questioned this at the time, she said "Hep A as a baby, really, that's unusual").
So, on the notes, next to "Hepatitis" she's written " Hepatitis positive? "
There's a world of difference between Hep A, which is totally curable, and which I had and was cured of, as a baby, and Hep B & C which are diseases you really want to avoid, infectious, and which I categorically do not have! But if the medical people think there's a possibility I might have, then they'll have to take various precautions when dealing with me, completely unnecessarily.
(And come to think of it, if she thought I might have Hep B or C, why did she touch the bloody bit of cotton wool after taking bloods with her bare hands?)
She's also noted my partner is a "new partner". She's just made that up.
Also she's written that I'm of Asian decent, which is news to me! She did ask about my family origins, I told her my grandparents are from Wales / Ireland / England / Estonia.
I reckon Estonia must have thrown her. It did used to be part of the Soviet Union, a massive part of which spans northern Asia, of course. However a few seconds looking at a map would have shown her that Estonia's right over the other side, next to Finland! It's very northerly and European! And actually, part of the EU. I know that in reality many people don't know exactly where it is, but when a professional is writing medical notes, I would hope they'd look it up if they weren't sure!
I don't suppose this one, or the new partner bit make a massive difference though, do they? Why do they ask I wonder?
So, ladies, might be worth checking your notes just in case!
Rant over!
Hope you're all well. Great to hear the sickness seems to be wearing off at long last :)
