Edinfirst - I don't think you should say anything at your appraisal unless you would have otherwise said something. You can always say to your boss afterwards that you're sorry you didn't mention it but of course wanted to wait til you'd had your scan.

Anyway, you're entitled to an appraisal and to have goals for your career even if you are pregnant. Ok, so you might not be getting round to them all before you head off, but it's only good management for them to do the appointment with you!

I have my scan on Tuesday morning and am looking forward to it and worried about it in almost equal measure. Although I ahve seen my little lime twice now, of course that was very early on and problems wouldn't have shown up. Just need to get through the weekend, whcih will no doubt fly like weekends do!

HaveALittleFaith · 14/09/2012 13:21

birdbrain, yes I am! You are not alone! I'm about to change jobs so I'm winding down anyway. I'm actually better when I'm busy.

edin actually I would say - these are my targets for the first 6 months but actually now is an opportunity to tell you I'll be going on mat leave in March (or whenever) if my scan goes ok on three days time! But then I'm crap at keeping my mouth shut!

8+0!

EssexWelsh · 14/09/2012 13:22

Well sat in Gatwick with an Appletise waiting for my flight to Ireland for a very drunken wedding, going to be so much fun sober Grin

Have been enjoying my lack of ms symptoms for a week now, til 30 mins ago, sick in the airport, hope it doesn't continue over the weekend!!

Have fun over weekend ladies, see you on my return.

Ack! after numerous attempts to post on my ipod, it keeps having ishoos.

So, I may not name names as I've forgotten who it was specifically who I am replying to. Sorry.

Essex have a lovely weekend. I always stick with cranberry juice and ginger ale when having to remain sober. It tastes good when feeling green too. Keep your bag topped up with some crackers for munching too.

The lady who runs the baby and toddler group I help at said I looked really rough [I have to admit that I did] and she jokingly said, Oh your not pregnant are you? It got a bit of colour in me Blush and she got a little excited. She's going to keep it quiet.

I had a dozen letters in the post this morning, because I had a hyper thyroid during my last pregnancy, this means I have to still see the specialist in case it happens again. A big wodge of appointments booked in advance, my jaw hit the floor. Last time letters arrived the day before if I was lucky, in some instances a few days after.

Nausea is still present, eating lots of bad things and feeling grumpy as DD is being a PITA at night time and I'm just too tired to be nice.

Scan on Tuesday, fx

afternoon all! hope everyone has been ok, loads and loads of posts since i last posted but i have been keeping up with them everyday :)
got my scan letter today YAY! its not until the 11th oct which seems like ages away but at least i have a date to look forward to now!
my sickness not as bad as it was, i find grazing throughout the day is helping keep it at bay but its not helping the bloat hehe!
usually start feeling poo around tea time not sure if theres a combo of tiredness in there too tho maybe makes it worst?!
well have a great weekend all :)

LoobyLou33 · 14/09/2012 17:17

edinfirst food on toast? spaghetti hoops? Don't mind if I do! Otherwise it's baked beans all the way...

Ate a WHOLE packet of sensations popadoms (lime + chilli) this afternoon while watching the count of monte cristo. Feel properly indulgent, and of course, I'm already hungry again. Grin
So yes...diet still quite atrocious, but I don't care, as soon as I feel better I'll eat healthier stuff. Like the sound of grazing boxes though.

Also not managing any real exercise, I usually trundle about with DS in the buggy a lot but right now, just get faint on the way home!

Re: twins...I believe it's non-identical that are genetic. Anyone can have an embryo cell that splits, but having two eggs during ovulation is a maternal genetic thing. Last pregnancy I discovered my grandpa was an identical twin, which I hadn't known before!

teapig so glad about your scan, after you've been concerned about symptoms. Goes to show - pregnancies can be so different.

edinfirst · 14/09/2012 17:45

looby oh my god spaghetti hoops! Hadn't thought of that, but want some NOW. Double carbs, perfect [grins]

faith and bonadea thanks for your thoughts-I think you are both right Confused I'll probably end up seeing how I feel on the day and how the conversation is going.

Re twins, MIL has said several times (before I was pg) she thinks we'll have twins!? I don't know how I'd feel about that, but a friend lost one of her twins recently (born at 26 weeks, other now doing well) so it would be very difficult news to deliver.

Happy weekend y'all

HaveALittleFaith · 14/09/2012 18:14

I bit the bullet and told my future boss today! I am changing roles (end of secondment) and wanted to get sorted with return dates etc so decided to tell her. I was a bit worried because I essentially am going back to a job only to leave in 6 months! But she was fine, really lovely (probably because her ward is well staffed) and said she thought I might be telling her that! :) I guess some people have a gut instinct for it?! I'm relieved she knows now. I've managed to organise some annual leave so I get 10 days off between changing roles. I cannot wait! Lie-ins, catching up with friends (most of whom work shifts!), getting the house how I want it before I go back on shifts!

I am all about the ....on toast-ness - cheese, beans, Philly. Nom nom.I'm really struggling to eat well and since my weight has stayed about the same since I got pregnant and the excess eating is balanced out by the odd bout of vomiting I'm not overly worried!

aufaniae · 14/09/2012 18:47

Here's some scary maths for you - it just dawned on me that at 10 weeks we're a quarter of the way through!!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 14/09/2012 19:47

Urgh, I really thought the sickness was easing off, but then it hits out of the blue! Had to stand in the loos at work most of the morning, but annoyingly nothing happens! Felt rough all day with a banging head, constantly clock watching.

Starting to pull myself round, and have just had a bowl of supanoodles for tea - very nutritious!

aufaniae - that's beautiful. i'm clinging to that. i was saying to MIL just now i wish i could fast forward 2 years and miss out the whole PG/no sleep bit. she said but you'd miss the little baby. ok so just the next 7 months then - God can you do this for me?
ifatfirst that's where i am - 10+1, thought it was getting better, then bleurrrrrrgh.

have invented new snack - oven chips with cheesy bechamel sauce with a dash of encona hot chilli sauce.

spaghetti hoops yes they are in my mind a lot. i remember fixating on them first time round but they made me sick.

on-toastness sounds good
xxx

HaveALittleFaith · 14/09/2012 22:24

I stuffed myself with dinner! DH cooked a pasta cheesy dinner - its a combi with creme fraiche, corguette, onion, ham and cheese. Mmmm cheese. I woofed it down and then felt really bloated!

Yes I did tell DH I was 2/9 of the way through now I'm 8 weeks, or 8/4
Ths. I've been a bit paranoid about having an ectopic (my Mum had one) but the risk decreases by week 8. Sadly all my food is without wheat since it aggravates my IBS. What do I want? Wheat, wheat, wheat! Mmm cream cakes, paninis, pasta, toast, shop bought sandwiches. Home made isn't the same. I haven't caved yet!

usernamegoeshere · 14/09/2012 22:42

I been worrying about ectopic as well, keep getting like a stretchy pain in my sides, but my GP felt it at 6 weeks & said that in his experience I wouldn't tolerate being touched there if it was ectopic. Its not a bad pain just sort of annoying, mostly only hurts if am on a bumpy bus (which I often am unfortunately).

I'll just go back to worrying about twins + exploding then.

9+3 now! Hope everyone has nice weekend.

JaquelineHyde · 14/09/2012 22:45

Dear God I'm knackered, fingers crossed it begins to lift soon for us all.

Just re-read my hospital appointment letter and it tells me all about my apt with the consultant but doesn't mention my scan which according to my midwife is at the same appointment. Surely there would be some mention of it in the letter if this had all been booked properly? I think I will have to ring up on Monday and check.

Are there any cat owners on here, have any of you noticed a change in behaviour from your cat? Our cat has always given all his attention to DH, he would sometimes want to sniggle with me but it was pretty rare.

However, now he can't get enough of me, he curls up right next to me or on me every time I sit down, follows me to bed and rubs on my legs all day long Grin I love it and just did a quick Google on it and apparently it's quite normal as they can sense the hormone/chemical change, it's brilliant! Any others getting this extra feline love Grin

usernamegoeshere · 14/09/2012 22:57

Jaquelinehyde heh, I did wonder a few times if my cat might somehow know, she is quite aggressive but has stopped scratching & biting me, with everyone else she is as bitey as always, but she hasn't gone for me in over a month now, even when I have had to take her to the vets in her basket (which she hates!)

Teapig · 15/09/2012 08:09

I have two cats andhaven't noticed any change in their behaviour yet but they are usually pretty cuddly. Amazing that they can sense these things.

Any semi healthy breakfast ideas? The past week has been such a toast fest I can't bear the thought of any more and feeling too lazy to make porridge.

HaveALittleFaith · 15/09/2012 08:14

Yoghurt and fruit teapig?

It'll be more toast albeit gluten free for me!

8+1

somewherebecomingrain · 15/09/2012 08:28

branflakes with raisins and honey? they are fortified with vits

Teapig · 15/09/2012 08:47

Thanks Faith and Somewhere, think I'll try both of those yummy combos Smile

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 15/09/2012 10:41

I have two cats, and they're the most soppy buggers anyway. If they were to get anymore clingy I'd be suffocated!!

Dannilion · 15/09/2012 11:10

I don't have a cat but I have a big German Shepherd and I'm pretty sure she knows what's going on! She's always been ridiculously soppy but now she has started following me everywhere, and standing infront of me if I'm approached by anyone she doesn't know.

Funnily enough I visited my mums farm the other day and her alpha guard dog did exactly the same. Usually he makes a bit of a fuss of me and then wanders off, but he just would not leave me alone and growled at some of the other dogs when they came near me.

Apparently they can hear the heartbeat, how cute! Smile

Giddypants · 15/09/2012 11:22

Morning all my dog is just the same, but he is so dopey he sits still while DS paints him, as in puts paint on the dog!
Saw the midwife yesterday and all booked in, said that I wouldn't be able to go the the mw led unit because of my previous section, and she I s referring me to a consultant to discuss birth options.
She did my bloods and I asked her if she can. Check my immunity to slapped cheek, and she faxed of the ultra sound referral said if I ring around Tuesday they may fit me in in the week, hope so.
Felt really sick yesterday after a Starbucks coffee, (decaf) and it continued most of the night, I'm going to purchase come sickness bands to see if they help as this is getting ridicules stull feeling Ill today but off the see the PIL soon, oh the joy!

FactOfTheMatter · 15/09/2012 11:38

Havealittlefaith - I think the doc's given me the same due date as you! 26th April? I suspect it'll probably be a bit later after my dating scan though.

I think I've been sussed at work! No idea how, since everyone's hungry and tired! I think I'll have to confess to the person who's worked it out and swear her to secrecy for another few weeks.

I'm really hungry all the time at the moment! I don't want to put on loads of weight though :( All I want is meat! Grin

Hope everyone else is well - it's been a while since i checked in.

JaquelineHyde · 15/09/2012 14:17

Afternoon ladies, DH has taken the 3 DCs out for the afternoon. A friend of his is holding a football and BBQ party thing for men and children Hmm

Needless to say I didn't need asking twice if it was ok for them all to go Grin

So I am now sat with feet up on the sofa reading through a load of my uni stuff for next week, eating a fresh cheese scone and butter...Heaven Grin
