Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Giddypants · 13/09/2012 17:44

I keep thinking about twins, with the size I am and the early movement I've been feeling I sometimes wonder. Before I got pregnant for about a year I kept having recurring dreams about having twin girls, then a month before we started trying 2 friends came up to me one said that they dreamt I had twins, and the other said that I was pregnant with the biggest bump ever, like I was having twins!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 13/09/2012 17:48

Fab news teapig :)

Leluella - have you had your booking apt with the midwife, as that will get the ball rolling as far as your scan goes. My MW said that I should get a letter from the hospital about 5 days before my apt. I'm on holiday too when I'm 12 weeks, so she noted that, so I wouldn't get the apt until after I returned.

Oh dear, folk at work are starting to suspect! I got a text from my colleague, who have confided in saying that the rest of the team started talking about me after I left this afternoon. Apparently, they have their suspicions that I'm "in the club" as I look "drawn" and my shape has changed Confused I don't think I look that different. I have lost weight, but I was trying to lose a bit before I got pg anyway!
Don't know what I'd do if they actually asked me outright!

usernamegoeshere · 13/09/2012 17:55

thank you both, I do feel a bit reassured now. I know its a stupid thing to worry about but I just couldn't help it!

Congratulations on your great scan Teapig

somewherebecomingrain · 13/09/2012 18:52

i love this thread it moves so fast - always something new to read.
great news on the scan teapig

i am feeling a lot less sick today - its actually changing into the less bad sickness i remember from my first pregnancy where i have to keep eating to keep it at bay. rather than this awful state where nothing makes me feel better - eating - not eating - puking - not puking.

i pray this will continue! courage to all those who are suffering.

giddypants i wait with baited breath! it's not me with twins cause i had a scan. i had wondered cause i'm 40, i was very sick, and my bump is massive.

10+0 today

Teapig · 13/09/2012 19:01

Thanks for all the scan Congrats, you're all so lovely. Just want to get to the next milestone out the way now.
Birdbrain and If I think it's a bit cheeky that people are gossiping before you've shared the news. I guess it's the way people are but I think it's a bit off to gossip before knowing whether someone is pg.

Ooh Giddy could be you with twins. I think twins would be lovely but I'm out of the running and perhaps a little bit relieved.

enjay0811 · 13/09/2012 20:01

Hi all, jst catching up on the last few days, there's always loads to read! Smile

I've had a sudden attack of being sick the last few days but only in the morning. Always feel crap when I haven't eaten within the last 2 hours so will have to get up for midnight feasts at this rate!

Great news on the scan teapig. Has anyone heard from mama lately?

Suppose to have my booking in appt today but the midwife rearranged to Saturday at home, which is easier for me as haven't got to come up with a rubbish excuse to have time off work! Think I'm going to have to tell em soon too, my belly is staring to show through the floaty tops (usually a size 10/12) so hard to hide it! Got a big work night out on 22nd too ...and its fancy dress!

leluella · 13/09/2012 20:01

Thanks IfAtFirstUDontSuceed, but when I got home today I had the scan appt through the post. Sure enough it's for Wed 26th when I'll be exactly 12 weeks and also on holiday! Will ring tomorrow and hopefully they will change it for me to late next week.

enjay0811 · 13/09/2012 20:02

8+3....always forget sorry!

LikeCandy · 13/09/2012 21:06

Hi all!
I kinda thought we'd have twins (lots on DHs side of the family) but early scan at 6+2 for bleeding only showed one. Did anyone else watch the obem twins/trips episode this week? I don't know how well I do with the extra worry of carrying 2!

I can't believe I have over 2 weeks to wait until my real scan. Envious of all you ladies getting to see your babies sooner!

Has anyone got there mat prescription exemption certificates through? I sent mine off today, hopefully it'll turn up in a week or so, I've booked a dentist appointment I don't want to pay for!!

10+5

HaveALittleFaith · 13/09/2012 21:23

To be fair, my friend saw one baby at 12 week scan, twins at 20 weeks! :) so don't count yourselves out just yet....

LikeCandy · 13/09/2012 21:40

Wow, that's incredible! Imagine the shock!!
secretly crosses fingers-

EmpressMatilda · 13/09/2012 21:46

Haha. I had a scan at 6 weeks and it was only 1 baby.

My nausea and tiredness are still ominously gone but I am getting occasional 'pinching' sensations in my tummy and some dizziness when I first wake. So I guess the baby is still alive in there!

Desperate for my scan. Wish 25th September was here!

EmpressMatilda · 13/09/2012 21:47

Oh, and...

10+1

HaveALittleFaith · 13/09/2012 22:00

Yes I think they were Shock! Sadly she had to have surgery and had since lost one :( Not easy this baby malarkey.

I'm still waiting for my scan date but I guess I'm only 8 weeks tomorrow. I have to see my new boss about starting back in my old job soon though and I'd like to request the day off for the scan when I do it!

Dandelion75 · 13/09/2012 22:18

empress - I'm about the same stage as you and have lost most of my symptoms too. Told my MW today and she said nothing to worry about and to be grateful! All I have are the pinching twinges now and then like you and of course my sudden attacks of starvation for crisps and Boursin!

It's definitely not me with twins - although we had 2 embryos put 'in' through IVF so we were hopeful. Had a viability scan at 6 weeks and definitely just one made it.

Finally had a booking in appointment today - fairly brief (45 mins) and just form filling and blood, but she was really nice and reassuring. Hoping this means my scan appointment is on its way..... I'm away next week too luella and if at first so would be sods law if the appointment finally arrived! MW told me not to worry and if it has to rearranged then that's what they will have to do.

bunnygirl80 · 13/09/2012 23:26

Great news on the scan teapig

Its not me with twins, 9 week scan only showed one baby in there.

As for people guessing, I told the receptionist at work last week and she said she had an inkling I would be making a pg announcement. She said its because I'm glowing, which I think is much nicer than saying she'd guessed because I've got fat! I know there is speculation about one of the other dentists as she keeps running off to the bathroom, and has suddenly started standing about three miles away from the room when she takes X-rays. If she does make an announcement soon I'll congratulate her, rather than saying we've all been gossiping about her for weeks.

somewherebecomingrain · 14/09/2012 08:34

empress and dandilion i'm 10+1 today and i am having a surge of wellbeing - the nausea has much subsided and i seem to have some energy. Nausea not totally gone- i suspect i'm going to need some 10am oven chips or something - but much better.

trying2bepos i hope you are feeling chilled. Now i'm not feeling so sick it's created space to angst about the nuchal but i'm trying to stay relaxed.

I hope you are feeling well and relaxed.

generally to all you in education i cant believe they would give you a hard time - isn't the educational establishment all about being enabling and letting people bloom and fulfill their potential? i hope it all resolves well.

xxx

somewherebecomingrain · 14/09/2012 08:37

PS i'd just like to add that yesterday I took Vitamin B6. I tried it earlier - at about 7 weeks - and my MS just seemed to be getting worse, so i stopped - and then it got even more badly worse, iyswim. maybe i should have carried on. anyway yesterday i took vitamin b6 - 50mg - for the first time in 3 weeks and wow i felt happy, i felt lively, i didn't feel sick.

B6.

xx

Morning ladies, I have a question about flyign during pg. Is it safe to fly long haul? I'm pretty certain it is in the first/second trimester but I'm feeling a little reluctant.

I've been asked to travel for work when I'll be 12 weeks and it'll be an 11 hour flight. Is there any reason not to fly long haul when pg? I'm almost hoping for one as I don't fancy going off on my own now I'm upduffed.

bunnygirl80 · 14/09/2012 10:11

teapig there's no problem with flying during pg, as long as you're low risk and feeling well. We're flying back to the UK for a holiday in a couple of months (when I'll be 20weeks) so that'll be a 24hr flight each way! Just check your travel insurance covers you for pregnancy just in case.

Mama1980 · 14/09/2012 10:13

Morning teapig I was told with my first pregnancy that it was fine to fly up until the third trimester. I flew longhaul at 20 weeks, I had also had a lot of bleeding but I was told it was still fine. When the flight attendants saw I was pregnant they were lovely and really looked after me. Always worth checking with your dr though.

PinkFondantFancy · 14/09/2012 10:14

teapig MW told me it's fine but your more susceptible to blood clots in pregnancy so you need to wear flight socks and do leg exercises.

Teapig · 14/09/2012 11:15

Thanks bunny, mama and pink, that puts my mind at rest and makes me realised 11 hours isn't so long haul compared with 24!

How are you doing Mama?

edinfirst · 14/09/2012 12:23

Hello all. Just checking in as I check in on the thread every day and am starting to feel like a lurker.

I think I might be starting to feel a wee bit more human too (9+6). I'm still pretty tired (or am I just used to spending my time on the sofa now??) but I'm starting to get agitated about things that need done (the length of the grass is seriously getting to me) - that's always a sign for me that I'm starting to feel better if I'm feeling ill, so I guess it might mean I'm feeling a bit more like my usual self now too.

I'm also starting to care a bit more that my diet to date has been primarily white bread and potatoes. This is starting to feel like an excuse to eat comfort food rather than the right thing to do (which it was for ages) and I'm feeling like I should try a bit harder with fruit and veg - yet to do anything about it, but it's the thought that counts, right Wink. I might even try getting off my butt and taking some exercise soon ? are any of you doing much?

I am sitting here filling in my annual appraisal for work, which feels like a bit of a fraud as I set targets for next year. My scan is 3 days after my appraisal but I don?t know yet whether or not to tell my boss at the appraisal or wait for the scan ? what do you think? I?m sure she will be nice about it whenever I do, I am just a bit superstitious about not saying anything til I know everything is OK.

Off to get some lunch now, I wonder what I can have with toast this time Grin

birdbrain17 · 14/09/2012 12:51

Anyone else sitting in work counting down the hours till the weekend?I'm so tired got a bit of a cold so slept really badly last night kept on waking myself up by coughing!
Really glad to hear everyone's appointments and scans are going well, I think I might take up radio silence till 12 weeks every day I'm getting more nervous for scan this wednesday and I'm not sure if reading about other people pregnancies is making it worse or not so I might try getting really involved in housework for the weekend instead take my mind off things. Don't worry I'm sure my good intentions will be gone by the time I walk through the door and realise how much there is to do!!!!
