Afternoon all. And welcome newbies we just keep getting bigger and bigger, LOL! Got my antenatal appt through this morning for when I will be about 12weeks and booking appt is this afternoon. My MW at EPAU was able to book the antenatal for me as I have to see the consultant too but it's taken a good few weeks to come through !

I am waking up early needing loo and feeling hungry too but not fancying anything! Unfortunately biscuits don't really do it for me at the moment! When I was bf I deffo used to have stashes in my beside table but I was starving ALL the time then! Not that easy to keep a stash of toast by the bed!

Better go as DS not himself today so sitting whinging and needs changing before we head down to dr to see MW.

birdbrain17 · 10/09/2012 13:38

Hi good afternoon didn't think I would have time to come on today as I had so much to do in work but found out half way through the morning there's slap cheek in the school!!!!I teach reception and year 4 and the kid who was sent home was in year 5 but I'm really nervous and spent the whole morning panicking!!!!went to talk to my line manager (who I wasn't going to tell I was pg till the 12 week mark) but I was too nervous to stay in school, she was so nice about it found me cover and told me not to come back till I had a blood test and knew if it was safe to do so. I'm much calmer now I'm home just a bit upset that work know already but now I need to call the gp or mw then I guess I'll enjoy my time off! hope nobody guesses why I suddenly left school....

Hello I am another newby - posted once on the previous thread but not for a while! Its been great to read that I am not the only one with constant nasuea and bloating ... I have had to get some bigger trousers already and was worrying that I am going to be enourmous (am only 10 plus 1)!!

Birdbrain - that sounds like a bit of a nightmare ...fingers crossed for you that your results are OK.

I also feel very lucky re: midwives and antenatal care after reading some posts. So far as in my area it is fairly good - telephone support from early days and an early scan at 6 plus 2 due to brown spotting (still on-going!) which showed a heart beat and all looking good. Booking in appointment at 7 weeks and 12 week scan is a week on Friday at 12 weeks. Am looking forward to getting 12 week scan over and done with and hoping all OK but feel quite positive as I feel so sick and knackered that am pretty sure things are progressing OK!

Good luck to all : )

trying2bpos · 10/09/2012 16:10

Phew that was a long appt with the mw who is also pg. Last time I only saw her about twice as she was on mattie leave. I think I will only see her twice this time too!
birdbrain that's really frustrating for you having to tell work but I'm glad they were understanding and you managed to go home asap. Hopefully you're already immune having worked with children. Hope you get the all clear from the drs soon though, keep us posted.

I have an annual review meeting on Friday with my HoD and not sure whether to mention I'm pg as objectives for next year will be set. I really don't want to let work know just yet unless I absolutely have to. Any advice? I guess I could always have an iterim meeting to reassess objectives in 6 mo or so.

On separate note can anyone recommend any locks for my fridge freezer?
Confused

Ooo may I join? I have finally found where all the 'Due in...' threads are!!

I am 9 weeks now I think, got first MW appt on Thurs but am thinking will be due mid April. This is DC3 but it's 6 years since the last one and I seem to have forgotten everything!!

Teapig · 10/09/2012 17:28

Welcome to all the ladies! It's an April baby boom Smile

It's completely sods law that today when I've been hugely bloated, feeling and looking crappy that I run into but a guy I used to date yonks ago. Not that I care what he thinks but why did it have to be on my most bloated, bad hair, and laziest work clothes day . He must have thought what a lucky escape he had! Well as we now share the same home town and are on the same commuter line hopefully I'll run into him again at the blooming stage, roll on that stage.

Dannilion · 10/09/2012 17:37

Hello!

Been browsing threads like this and finally decided to take the plunge and join!

I'm due on April 11th and it's my first Smile This whole being pregnant lark is terrifying though. Every little twinge has me googling like mad and then being distraught with peoples awful misfortunes. I found out at exactly 4 weeks and it has been such a drag...I don't get my scan til roughly 13 weeks either, and having had only 4 days worth of MS for the past 6 weeks I feel like I'm stuck in limbo. I am enjoying an excuse to not do the washing up though.

Seen a few ladies on here that seem to be from my area, which is nice.

I know 13 weeks isn't that late in terms of dating scans, but I spend what feels like half my days staring at my phone, trying to pluck up the courage to call the ultrasound dept and ask for a sooner one. Has anyone EVER had luck with doing that? I'd never do anything naughty like say I was bleeding or anything but I've waited soooo long!

Anyways, I'll stop whining now. Hope everyone is doing well Grin xx

Giddypants · 10/09/2012 18:00

Welcome everyone, and yes dannilion, that is exactly what I have thought of doing, I see my mw on Friday for my booking in appointment I will be 11+2!
And the policy is around here that the mw books the dating scan, say that's at least a 2 week wait for that, so around 13 weeks but I want the nuchal screen so it's cutting it a bit fine really.
I will have the private scan but want to make sure before I shell out £200 that there is actually a little sprout in there and growing well.

So it has crossed my mind to ring the EPAU and see if they would give me a reassurance scan
And this is defiantly the place to whine we all know what your going through!

aufaniae · 10/09/2012 18:01

Hi Dannilion. Congratulations Thanks and welcome :)

I rang up just this morning and got my scan changed. It can't hurt to ask.

aufaniae · 10/09/2012 18:02

Welcome and congrats to itsaruddygame and us4downhere too! Grin Grin

kellestar · 10/09/2012 18:22

Hello all the newbies! Thanks and some decaf Brew

Booking in went well, MW had just gone on ML when i had DD and she was lovely.

I weighed less than I thought, my scales at home have been telling porkies. Though I am overweight and short I know the risk factors. I just love my food too much.

Though, typically, they struggled to draw bloods from me. Ended up tying both elbow nooks, wrists and ended up drawing from the back of my hand.

I did get my scan date before my booking in appointment, it was no bother for them to send off the paperwork before hand. So it's a week tomorrow and I will be 11+6. I've prepared a t-shirt for DD that says only child expires april 2013 like this as we plan on doing the rounds to the relatives after the scan to announce our news. They all live locally and it's a case of trying to get around and see them all before they call ahead and gossip. DH's parents live next door to my grandparents.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 10/09/2012 18:22

So nice to hear so many of you getting your apts for your scans. I've got my booking apt with the MW on Wednesday, so hopefully mine will follow shortly after. Although, I'm away on holiday just as I hit 12 weeks, so it'll probably end up being after that!

I'm still getting the nausea and sickness, but the tiredness has eased. Boobs have also settled down, they're still ginormous, but now I can actually move without wincing!

Bit of a selfish rant, but a colleague at work just announced that she is expecting. She is only 8 weeks, but was happily showing everyone a picture of her scan. I had to sit there and stop myself from shouting SO AM I.....!!! We're only a small team, with very few ladies, so was slightly disappointed that my moment is to be shared with another - does that sound really awful of me Blush That said, I have confessed to her, and we're having little private chats about our symptoms etc, which is nice!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 10/09/2012 18:23

Ooops 10+4

aufaniae · 10/09/2012 18:24

kellestar that t-shirt is ace :)

birdbrain17 · 10/09/2012 19:11

So frustrating just spent the whole afternoon trying to find out from my mw how to check if I'm immune to slap cheek, everyone I spoke to had to pass me on to some one else, eventually I spoke to someone who understood the problem and told me she'd get my mw to call me back but no one did so then I had to call the labour ward as it's the only number that's 24 hours and I spoke to a consultant and she was really helpful and did what the first person should have done which was call up the lab who luckily still have my blood samples from my booking in appointment (so I don't have to have another blood test) and they will call me tomorrow after they test for immunity and let me know, in the meantime the consultant said I definitely shouldn't go into work tomorrow. It's funny because I'm so tired after 1 week back and have been desperate for time off but I'm so stressed and worried I just wish there was nothing wrong and I could go to work...Confused

SneezySnatcher · 10/09/2012 19:56

birdbrain I'm worried about slapped cheek too. When I was pg with DD my MW was really blasé about it so I stayed in work when it was going around. My colleague, however, was told to stay off. This time my MW sent my bloods off with a note to test for immunity for it.

We've found out SIL is pg too! Due four weeks after me! So very, very exciting.

LoobyLou33 · 10/09/2012 20:01

Hi ladies, sounds like a lot of people are getting their mw appointments which is exciting. Hope they go well.

Those of you with colds - any better? I started one last night, so been extra tired and thirsty. enjay I have defi been super thirsty since about 4 weeks, that's a symptom some get.

birdbrain I was gonna post the same thing about DH being such a star! Unfortunately for him, he is doing almost all the cooking and cleaning, getting up with DS, but still getting no luvin! I could easily go to bed at 8.30pm I am so shattered and feel too sick anyway. I feel extra bad - he just rang to ask me to put his dinner on and I realised I'd fed it to DS for his tea!!! Blush

kellestar I feel worse this time, and it was a boy last time...who knows? Wink

niblet (like the name!) aye, I have been known to get up and eat cream crackers or biscuits at 2am. My bed is full of rich tea crumbs!

Those of you losing your sickness symptoms, rejoice! It's supposed to pass around this time and honestly..you're not missing anything! I can't WAIT to feel normal about food.

JaquelineHyde · 10/09/2012 20:08

Evening all. I am booked in Grin

Long boring appointment but it is done and I have just sat down and read excitedly through all of the bumph you get in the Bounty pack. I'm going to hold off going to get the Mum to Be pack until after my scan but it all feels very real now. Although I wont be completely convinced until I see a scan with my own eyes...I even took another pg test the other day just to make certain Grin

Still managing to keep it a secret here, only 3 and a bit more weeks and then I can tell everyone!!!

CamelKnees · 10/09/2012 21:41

Evening ladies
Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeling vile
Crazy tired and so so sick
Actually bored of feeling this awful now. If this lasts beyond the first trimester I will not be impressed
birdbrain I got tested for slapped cheek immunity and came back as having it as a kid. My pregnant sister also got tested as she'd been exposed to my DD when she was contagious and came back as immune and the MW said she'd never had anyone in 15 years come back as not immune so fingers crossed for you.
1 more week til booking in.....

HaveALittleFaith · 10/09/2012 21:51

cam I was just wondering about you earlier! Glad you're alright (if a bit rough).

I feel pretty rough. Sickness was bad this morning (course I am not as far along as most of you). I had to seriously peg it to the loo. Certainly the most violent sickness I've had. I've had several 'you look tired' comments despite buying a caffeine roll on eye thingy! So very early night for me tonight.

Welcome to the new recruits! My eating has varied massively, some days I'm eating loads, some days very little.

7+3 today and impatiently waiting for my scan date.

CamelKnees · 10/09/2012 22:04

faithy Every time I think "I'll MN" I end up falling asleep! Hope the super sickyness was a one off today and that tomorrow is easier. Counting down the days kiddo!

HaveALittleFaith · 10/09/2012 22:09

Sadly, no. Just projectile vomited up my chicken swekers from dinner :( crawling into bed with a bucket! Luff you knockknees!

CamelKnees · 10/09/2012 22:23

Oh you poor thing fee !
Silver lining will be once you push this baby put you'll be svelter than a svelte thing....
On a more serious note are you keeping yourself hydrated? Am actually starting to worry about you

toobreathless · 10/09/2012 22:24

Hello Dannilion your name is very similar to
Dandelion who is also here on April 2013. I will apologise in advance for mixing you up.

Sorry to hear some of you are feeling so sicky.

I rang head honcho midwife today and have a slot blocked for me next Tuesday at 2pm, so I have my booking scan & appt on the same day at 11+3. Thank god for that.

Off to bed now, exhausted!

10 + 2

alwayshopeful13 · 10/09/2012 22:39

Sorry for my radio silence all - I spent the weekend hibernating under a duvet trying to recover enough to go to work after 2 days off sick last week. Managed to drag myself in today and actually felt better during the day than I did last week - maybe it's the distraction that helps, plus being a bit more rested. Also the relief from having told my boss (who just got back from holiday) about being pg, which I was really dreading for various reasons but she was amazing about it. V supportive on various fronts, and giving me good advice both morning sickness (she suffered v badly with it) and about career planning stuff, jobs post return from ML etc.

Sorry for the me, me, me post, especially as it's so boring! Big welcome to all the newcomers, and great to hear everyone else is starting to have their MW appointments - v exciting and feels like things are progressing towards the much longed for next phase. My booking in appt is end of next week (and I plan to go in to EPU for another scan - will be 10 weeks the day after), so counting the days for both.

Hope the sickness is starting to subside for everyone. My latest attempted remedy - which does seem to be helping - is to have something small to eat/drink (oatcake and small glass of apple juice for me) just before going to sleep AND have something similar before getting out of bed in the morning. It's my mum's theory - something to do with blood sugar levels?!
