Dandelion75 · 06/09/2012 13:48

Sorry to hear you are having a bad time hihowareyou. Fx that things improve x

Im working at home today. Any volunteers who want to come over and stand guard on my fridge to keep me out of it? Grin

Just grazing constantly to keep the queasy feelings away but can't make myself eat the 'right' stuff. At the moment any kind of cheese, carbs or plain sponge cake is my friend. Show me a piece of fruit, or a yoghurt or some salad - bleurgh! Think I'm only getting about 2 of my 5 a day at the mo.

Got tons of work to do, but all I can think about is that bit of Boursin in the fridge. Off to try and force down a berry or two Wink

growyourown77 · 06/09/2012 14:05

I'm so chuffed! Our early scan yesterday showed the baby, yolk sac and a heartbeat, so we are over the moon and much more reassured. Grin It's hard to take in as after our ectopic and my tube removal last year it's been a slog to get here and i really didn't think we would. So I'm going to take time letting it sink in and keep on with the PUPO to ward off mc anxieties.

I didn't want to post yesterday as there has been two lots of sad news.

dandelion I know what you mean about grazing. I'm at work in a new job and desperately trying to keep everything under wraps. I'm the opposite on the fruit...I've found myself nibbling on almonds, satsumas, Walkers French Fries (loving them at the moment)and looking forward to the pot of mango that's staring at me from the desk. Grazing seems to be the only way to keep the nausea at bay.

hihowareyou FX that things get better for you honey. Xx

Rivergirly · 06/09/2012 14:17

I really hope your right that the nausea peaks at 9 weeks and will ease off I am 8 + 5 and feeling really grotty right now - nausea and tiredness making me feel naff. I have 2ds' and don't remember feeling this grotty with them.

And I have to agree that fruit and salad is not doing it for me either - anything carb based is good.

alwayshopeful13 · 06/09/2012 14:34

Goodness this thread really is busy!

hihowareyou - sorry to hear things are tough. Sending all good wishes that things improve for you. Stay positive and know we're all thinking of you :-)

growyourown fab news on your scan. Thrilled for you esp after all you've been through. Know what you mean about the anxiety not stopping but great things are looking up.

Sharing the pain of you ladies suffering from constant nausea. DH made me stay home today after another night of bad sleep thanks to sickness + frequent loo trips. Work v stressful at the mo and DH was (v sweetly) reeling me off the reasons why I shouldn't overly stressed during these early weeks, esp when tired etc also. So I'm installed on the sofa with duvet and supply of sparkling water and gingernut biscuits. For me grazing is the only thing that brings relief - deffo more on the carbs than the fruit/salad end of the spectrum!

HiHowAreYou · 06/09/2012 15:00

Thanks all.

Sorry, I didn't reply to people before.
knitting how has the start of school gone? DD was fine going in, thankfully!

giddy Yes DD was in NICU then SCBU for a month, I think my due date was 20th Sept but she came in July. Getting pregnant again has really brought back a lot of feelings from back then, so I understand what you said about your DS's birthday making you look back too.

SneezySnatcher · 06/09/2012 15:35

Quick update - got my scan letter today (only a week after booking appointment). My scan is on 20th sept so I'll either be 11/12 weeks by then. Hopefully I'll be able to relax a little after that (and tell work)!

bigsista00 · 06/09/2012 17:03

Thankyou, havealittefaith!!

Lookign forward to maybe having people to talk to, DH and i have decided not to tell many people our news, but he's not really very open to discussing this subject himself!!

:)

EssexWelsh · 06/09/2012 17:41

So apparently the gossip has started in school, the deputy head came up to me today to let me know that staff were gossiping I was pregnant as apparently I was rubbing my tummy in a meeting yesterday-which I don't think I was, I think it's more the fact I suddenly in last 2 days turned into a whale! I told the Headteacher about the gossip, the only one who knows and she said I just look so obviously pregnant, quote 'my tummy is bigger, my boobs are bigger and my cheeks have gone chubby'! Even some Y9 girls asked were giggly goading eachother to ask me if I was, I managed to avoid it! Jeez, I've only put on 2lb, how do I look so MASSIVE-nothing fits-argh!!!! I'll never keep it quiet for 3 weeks til I have scan!

Knittingnovice · 06/09/2012 17:45

hihowareyou he hasn't gone yet. Here they do a staggered intake and because he is a summer baby he doesn't start until 12th, which is lucky as I don't have his jumpers yet as I have to go and collect them from the courier as they were only delivered yesterday
Hope things get better for you.
DH came down earlier (he works nights) and said ' starting on your pg diet then' I drink copious amounts of lucozade and eat obscene amounts of salt and vinegar crisps when pg and have been to the local coop yesterday and today for lunch (although I am having to share the crisps with dd)

Welcome to all the newbies and glad that people are starting to get dates through. I am keeping my eyes open for mine, but also am waiting a date for my 6 monthly ct scan which I am then going to have to change because you can't have ct scans while pg!!

We're planning on telling some people at the weekend as tomorrow is our 10th wedding anniversary and we were planning a meal for our families, but dh has just got off the phone to his dad and him and his partner can't come, my DB, sil and dneiece & dnephew can't come. My youngest siste is being a pita (but coming),my dm & ddad are coming and my middle sister is a star and providing pudding & is the only one staying with us. So by Sunday some people will know, but we really want to keep it quiet until after the scan to make sure that there are no problems

HaveALittleFaith · 06/09/2012 17:47

Essex that must be annoying! Not quite as bad as when I had two months off sick with a urinary tract blockage problem. I was on the gynae ward as an outlier. When I got back to work (having gained a stone) and someone outright said Are you having a baby? I was mortified! And of course I went Blush but how dare anyone just ask or assume? Clearly when a person is ready they'll announce it. Asking or speculating beforehand isn't on at all!

LikeCandy · 06/09/2012 18:00

Two pages of posts since I checked before work, you ladies are fast workers!

It's interesting to read above that m/s peaks at 9 weeks because I haven't been sick once since 9+1, I didn't know whether to worry or to be grateful!

Essex I definitely have a tummy but I am sure it's all just bloat, I'm not sure what I'd say I someone noticed though. Hmm I wear a tunic uniform to work (NHS) which is a generous sz8 which I wear my trousers undone under with a vest pulled down over holding them up!!
Outside of work I'm wearing my jeans low on my hips, and all of my tops are baggy. Skinny jeans still do up - with a muffin belly!!

EssexWelsh · 06/09/2012 18:03

How, how is this possible, it's not a bump, I'm just fat, but haven't put on weight and only 9+4, just doesn't make sense!!!

LoobyLou33 · 06/09/2012 18:26

Checking in after a few days....sorry about lola and catch's sad news. Sad

essexwelsh I read that the tummy bloats cos the body's water retention increases in early preg and also the uterus gets bigger. My friend (who knows) was round the other day and said "ooh you've got a belly already!" I've been wearing the same outfit for 3 days!

Oh please tell me the sickness subsides at 9 weeks! It took til about 16 last time and tho I remember it being hard, I'm sure it wasn't quite this awful. We went to the paralympics today and was v worried yest, but in fact it went well until we left and I felt really faint and sick...managed to get home and straight to bed!

I'm finding fox's glacier mints very good for tiding me over when other food's not available, and trying innocent smoothies to up the fruit content - like some others I'm not loving the fruit or veg!

I got Pregnancy for Dummies which is a good, light-hearted but well written book. It doesn't have in-depth week-by-week info tho.

8 weeks today, wohoo!

kellestar · 06/09/2012 19:13

Back from camping! Wow what a pace this thread is setting!

Sorry to hear your news lola and catch.

Camping was lovely, I did lounge about alot and DH was a star with DD. Toilets were nice and clean and a short walk [up a hill] from our pitch. It was more pleasant than when I was 25 weeks and had SPD.

Bloating has improved, I'm worst after lunch, but wake up better. Constipation still comes and goes. Having to eat more fibre stuff, but it makes my nausea jump up. Nausea is constant.

Books that I loved first time around was

first time parent this was light hearted but calmed me down in the first few weeks when overwhelmed. Was given this from another new mummy, I've already passed this on.

week by week this book was DH's favourite, helped him visualise baby's growth, good images and what is happening.

If you have a second hand book store you can pick these books up really cheaply. Our 2nd hand kids stuff sells PG books at £3 each and I've had a good range to read and have passed on.

On a different note, I found these natal hypno therapy cd's were quite relaxing. Also see they now do one for Morning Sickness, but it's out of stock. :)

kellestar · 06/09/2012 19:14

I have also broken out my maternity wear, wish I'd have done this before camping as my Jeans were just too uncomfortable.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 06/09/2012 19:29

Dandelion - my diet has been pretty much the same as yours... Carbs, stodge & more carbs. Nothing remotely healthy appeals. I have a fridge full of fruit which is slowly going off, bought it with such good intentions. At best, it makes it in to my bag to take to work, but it usually ends up coming back home with me. I can't get enough of fresh orange juice at the the moment - best try and calm that down, don't want to give myself the runs!!!

I discovered by surprise this morning that I have the beginnings of the tiniest bump developing :) its more prominent when I need a wee. It's just below where the top of my knickers are and is pretty firm. Got a bit of a shock in the shower this morning when I noticed.

Evening ladies, I am shattered. We have had a lovely day out with the 3 dcs today and I walked for miles.

I have also spoken to my midwife, the original booking in appointment was on October 3rd however, after chatting for a while she decided that because I am moving in a few weeks I will actually come under a different sub team and so I should talk to them and they may be able to see me sooner.

So I rang them and she was lovely and has arranged a new booking in appointment for Monday! Grin I have also been given my scan and consultant date for October 4th with will be 1 day before I'm 12weeks. So if everything goes ok I can let everyone know exactly at 12 weeks Grin

Still massively bloated and have noticed my back pain is becoming worse which is what happened with DS.

Hope you are all well.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one whose diet is shot to pieces! The last year while going through IVF DP and I have been the healthiest we have ever been - loads of fresh fruit and veg, low fat blah blah. The minute I get preg it all goes to pieces and I can only eat junk Confused

Managed to force a bit of fruit down today (which I'm sure my bowels will thank me for - not much going on in that region thanks to my stodgy only diet...) Wink

9+3 (eek)

HaveALittleFaith · 06/09/2012 22:04

I cannot get enough dairy - cheese, glasses of milk, crackers with cream cheese. I'm forcing down not from concentrate juice and fruit for my bowels sake but am concentrating on simply calories in and not puking it all back up. I've discovered decaf tea doesn't make me throw up like normal tea so I'll be buying a box of that! :)

enjay0811 · 06/09/2012 22:39

Hey kellestar I used the hypno birthing cd with my dd2 and thought is was fantastic. Def made the labour easier imo.

A book tht I read in both pregnancies was 'expecting, everything you need to know about pregnancy, labour and birth'. It gives a week by week account I think, loads of useful info and some pics. Lost the book now but you can get it off amazon 2nd hand for a few quid.

Will be buying both again this time around!

imakestuff · 06/09/2012 23:40

Thanks Aufaniae birdbrain and trying2bpos for the tips and book recs! Looong work day but didn't want to disappear completely on you.

I have had an unusual amount of work and social things lately and it's awkward not drinking - does anyone have any favourite excuses?

Teapig · 07/09/2012 07:35

imakestuff For non-drinking excuses I've been using a diet, which given my bloating seems plausible. I've also used the hangover excuse a couple of times.

I haven't used antibiotics as I thought people might suss that one. What's worked best for me is to pretend I'm drinking, so DH will get me a vodka, lime and soda without the vodka and no one suspects. When we have people over we make cocktails and I drink from a secret virgin batch. At big dos I've held wine and no one has noticed I haven't drunk it as DH and I secretly swap glasses, which DH is very pleased with as he gets extra!

ratbagcatbag · 07/09/2012 07:40

Morning lovely ladies

I've got my booking appointment today and my blood pressure is rocketing already thanks to the thought of blood tests :( not keen on needles and the thought already is making me feel queasy.

Yes yes to dairy all the way. Pints and pints of crusha strawberry milkshake. Still not much fruit in there though.

kellestar · 07/09/2012 08:19

Ratbagcatbag drink plenty of water before you have bloods taken, veins are easy to find when you are well hydrated.

bunnygirl80 · 07/09/2012 09:31

Seems I spoke to soon about being over the nausea. Spent this afternoon throwing up. But I have had 6 puke free days, which is a record.
