Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
trying2bpos · 05/09/2012 14:51

Oh catch I'm so sorry. Best of luck with everything. My friend had an ectopic and only has one tube and she has a beautiful 18 mo old daughter so hopefully we'll see you on here again soon when you're up to it. I'm also pretty sure I read someone else on here who'd been through similar and has children now. Take good care of yourself.

aufaniae · 05/09/2012 14:56

JaquelineHyde OK, so the doc just rang also so I guess the midwife calling on the same day I called the GP was just a coincidence!

If you like I can ask the mw who comes to see me on Friday when they usually contact people round here.

Incidentally the doctor gave the opposite advice to the midwife about my question on whether I should be taking certain medication! So now I am even more Confused

trying2bpos · 05/09/2012 14:59

Thanks to everyone for all the good luck wishes this morning they must have worked as baby still there and heart beating away nicely even got a few waves. Had a newly qualified sonographer so got 3 photos too. Major hurdle over for me just have to get through the next 3/31 weeks now!

Didn't seem right to post this with my other message for catch but wanted to let people know how I'd got on this morning.

JaquelineHyde · 05/09/2012 15:31

catch I am so sorry to hear this, please be kind to yourself. You will be back on these boards sooner than you know it I'm sure.

Aufaniae I have had a letter today telling me I have an appointment with the community midwives at DGH on October 3rd!! I will be 12 weeks that week so it all feels a bit late on, especially as I doubt I will get a scan date until after that. I need to ring up anyway to change the date as I have a very heavy day at Sussex Uni that day so I will see what they say.

birdbrain17 · 05/09/2012 15:32

catch I am devastated for you I didn't have a second yesterday to really come online and I was out all evening but I've just been catching up and I'm so sorry to hear your news!

Now I'm looking for an opinion today apart from a few (what i think are) streching pains I've been feeling really good just a bit tired from working and late night, but yesterday I felt awful, really really pregnant. I'm trying to decide if it's better to feel ill and now it's normal or to spend the day hoping everything is okay because I don't feel pregnant...Hmm what's the general opinion?

SneezySnatcher · 05/09/2012 15:53

Catch I'm so sorry

aufaniae · 05/09/2012 16:04

jacqueline that's really weird as they've done it totally the other way round with me. They sent me a scan date (for 13 weeks) but nothing about an appointment with the midwives, till one rang yesterday. I wonder why they're treating us differently?! Maybe there are different midwife teams attached to different GPs, with slightly different procedures?
Totally agree 12 weeks seems pretty late on!

Did they give you a choice of hospital? They gave me a choice of the 3 nearest, but I was totally unprepared for the question so just said DGH as it's the nearest! We've only been here two years and don't know much about the hospitals as thankfully haven't had much use of them!

We have two student nurses living with us at the moment. Unfortunately neither know anything about the obstetrics at DGH, but I've asked them to keep their ears open :)

Lola06 · 05/09/2012 16:10

I'm having to bow out along with catch. Just out from scan and looks like a mmc from a couple of weeks ago. DH and I are devastated Sad

Good luck to all you lovely ladies and wishing you healthy, happy pregnancies

My sister in law gave birth at DGH earlier this year (and has had all 3 of her children there). I did have my first son at DGH (I wasn't living there it just happened like that) but that was nearly 7 years ago so I don't have a clue.

My SIL said to me that they have just all centralised it to DGH so should all work out of the same place to the same kind of structure but who knows!

Unfortunately when ds was born there all that time ago I had a horrible, horrible experience because of how I was dealt with so I am quite cautious about giving birth there again but I will raise all of this worry with the midwife when I see her.

What 3 were you offered was it DGH, The Conquest and then the birthing centre (can't remember where that is!)

I'm going to ring them now...

Knittingnovice · 05/09/2012 16:11

catch I'm really sorry to hear your news, hopefully you willbe back on these boards soon
trying how lovely for you

JaquelineHyde · 05/09/2012 16:19

Lola Sad Shock I am so sorry. Please look after yourself Sad

aufaniae · 05/09/2012 16:30

JaquelineHyde I was offered DGH, The Conquest and Brighton. My GP didn't even mention the birthing centre!

I am interested in exploring the idea of using remifentanil pca for pain-relief as a back up if the epidural doesn't work again this time Thread here if anyone's interested

It's a fast-acting opiate which doesn't have lasting affect on you or the baby like morphine or pethidine. You administer it yourself with a button when you need it, and it wears off after a couple of minutes.

Only thing is not all hospitals offer it as they have to monitor your breathing constantly.

If one of the 3 hospitals offers it I'm going to switch!

From googling it seems to be better than gas air but not as effective as an epidural. Sounds like the best option I have for a back up plan!

BonaDea · 05/09/2012 16:42

HaveALittleFaith · 05/09/2012 17:36

catch I'm so sorry to hear its ectopic - no wonder you had so much pain. I'm glad they've realised now so you're not in danger but take care of yourself. Do t over do it as you recover.

lola such sad news for you :( nothing very helpful to say but thank you for your kind words.

HaveALittleFaith · 05/09/2012 17:45

Oh for those who were wondering, I check the contents of the pregnacare and sanatogen. There's about 50% more iron in the pregnacare which may account for the increased constipation! I was about to buy the Tesco own thinking it was cheaper but it was £7 for 30 tablets and the Sanatogen was £10 for 90 so I bought the latter.

Knittingnovice · 05/09/2012 17:57

lola sorry I cross posted with you earlier. Am so sorry for your news too
