Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ratbagcatbag · 02/09/2012 16:00

Aww Jacqueline that's pants, me and DH have had a few of those, they're horrible aren't they?????? I think normally where I'd kick his ass I cry more now too. Hope it gets sorted later for you.

Not relaxing for me, although DH has done dinner washed up and dried everything. I've got Avon books to collect and dispatch and two athletics reports to write. All I want to do is sleep though............

ratbagcatbag · 02/09/2012 16:46

Ok ladies.

I want to do a mini Aibu with you lot?

Aibu to accept some by gorgeous second hand things from my friend for baby?

I'm very happy with second hand stuff and have already got mamas and papas bedding, sterilises etc, that people have given me, but a very close friend has been for dinner today and said she's going to be sorting stuff out, her sister is pregnant too and she originally offered her some things, to get the response " I don't know why you think I'd want your cast offs" ,my friend was rightly upset and said fine and now I'm in line for some gorgeous stuff, I've offered to pay for things like first car seat etc.

I suppose really the Aibu should be, is my friends sister a cow, because I reality I'm happy for anything people will pass on.

Would you all use second hand if you knew where it came from? I will anyway, even though sproglet will be PFB, I've got more expensive concerns like full time child are to save for. :)

Lola06 · 02/09/2012 16:53

I'm very happy to use second hand stuff. I have lots of nephews and nieces and as this is DC1 I'm hoping my sisters will be generous in the hand-me-downs! lol. I buy second hand clothes and will most certainly be buying second hand for DC too, along with new items. Don't see the problem myself, I'd bite her hand off for stuff which means you have more money for other things.

Feeling the nerves myself tonight. Booking in appointment tomorrow afternoon and then first scan on Wednesday. So nervous about it and can't shake bad feeling Sad

ratbagcatbag · 02/09/2012 16:57

I have done anyway Lola, as she's an amazing friend and they said they'd rather us have it anyway :) so here comes baby monitors, bounc, high chair etc, their LO is 14 months so she reckons after Xmas I can have pretty much everything at which point it will suit us down to the ground :)

Fx for you, everything will be fab, my booking appointment is Friday and then I'll get a scan date. Take care and try not to be too nervous.

Lola06 · 02/09/2012 17:16

Amazing, think of all the money saved. Everything is so expensive I don't know how people buy everything new. A wash and clean and most things are as good as new anyway!

Thanks, just a total worrier about this pregnancy as I've had almost no symptoms. Feel fine about tomorrow but Wednesday is another matter. Argh, going to have to do something to keep mind off it for next couple of days.

HaveALittleFaith · 02/09/2012 17:24

I'm getting some stuff off my sister. They grow out of things/stop using them so quickly, why wouldn't you?! That's just being snobby! Yanbu ratty!

We've been to see the in-laws. They're moving tomorrow so one last chance to all be together. They're very excited about the baby which is great. Travelling back now, I'm shattered! Chilled evening for us.

Jacqueline enjoy your tea, hope things calm down.

EmpressMatilda · 02/09/2012 17:59

Totally agree about second hand stuff. Most of our family and friends don't know about the pregnancy yet but I am hoping that when they do there might be some stuff for us. After all, it's stuff that people only need for a short time anyway so most of the time they're happy to get rid of it!

I will also be utilising ebay, freecycle and NCT sales. I don't wan to buy anything new unless I absolutely have to. There doesn't seem much point when the baby will just puke over it all anyway! Besides, this is the time in life when they won't complain about hand-me-downs so take the opportunity while you can! In terms of hygiene I expect it will have been washed before it comes to you and then you will probably wash it all again straightaway.

wishfulthinking1 · 02/09/2012 18:11

Evening all
ratbag I fully intend on accepting any hand me downs going!! Why spend more than you have to? My SIL has 3dc and her youngest is 7 months so she's said that she'll have a load of stuff to come our way- wicked!!

Nothing to report here. Still worryingly symptom-less except this horrible constipation! When will it stop? I'm taking fybogel and eating a ton of fruit but still no action down there and it's making me so bloated! And the farts!! Blush just vile!! Tell me its not just me!?! Blush But no ms to speak of and my boobs, though bigger, aren't sore anymore. Should I worry?

Back to school for me tomorrow- and booking in app on Wednesday. Didn't get that far last time so it's another milestone to tick off!

Hope the rest of you are well. Good luck with your scan tomorrow if

Xxx

HaveALittleFaith · 02/09/2012 18:12

The only thing you must really have new is the mattress for safety reasons.

JessieEssex · 02/09/2012 18:20

I had loads of second hand stuff for DD from SIL and wil be reusing most of it! Agree that you need a new mattress, but everything else, go for it! I also made the most of ebay - also great for selling those very gratefully received but not very useful baby gifts that quickly become obselete...

Lola, am also v nervous at the moment, but a big milestone for me has passed today (9+4) as this is the day I found out about my mmc last pregnancy. Roll on 9+5!

Fingers crossed for everyone...

Dandelion75 · 02/09/2012 19:25

I'm actively hoping for plenty of offers of second hand stuff from 2 SIL's, and wouldn't dream of turning it down! Stuff is so expensive, and gets used for such a short time - and we've just spent a small fortune on IVF so very happy for anything we are offered! I'd bite their hand off without a second thought ratbag!

Not much going on over here - have spent most of weekend lying on the sofa feeling worn out and puky. My big worry right now is that I'm meant to stop my progesterone supplements tomorrow, but even though I hate the revolting things it's panicked me. I have no way of knowing if I'm now naturally producing the right amount of progesterone to support the LO. If I follow the clinics advice I should go cold turkey tomorrow, but I have a few left so am thinking of just halving the dose for a week before stopping just to wean myself off it. Anyone else got experience of stopping progesterone? Did you go cold turkey? Do you lose any of the bloat?

FX for everyone Smile

Giddypants · 02/09/2012 19:33

Evening ladies, I would have hand-me-downs, we had to buy everything new foe DS as we didn't know anyone who had had kids, got a few things from eBay too.
DS had his bday party today, and cried through the majority of it gggrrrr, DH did a BBQ normally I do it because he just burns the outside and the inside is still raw, but because he kicked up a fuss, 'oh I never get to do it etc etc' so he cooked, and low and behold I bite into a pork rib and it's all blood! So now I'm fretting about that I refuse to google, the possible disease I could have picked up!
And I got vomited on by DS! SIL came round....late.
I was trying to sort out DFIL and his pain, he has terminal ca and a lot of pain which his drs aren't treating Angry
I cleaned the whole house it's all been a bit much, god I sound totally pathetic, I'm not normall like this!

HaveALittleFaith · 02/09/2012 19:42

Nope giddy you're pregnant! I'm an emotional wreck and haven't had a day like you! Get yourself in the bath, jammy up and have an early night! :)

KatyT86 · 02/09/2012 19:45

Well... This is my first pregnancy, very much a surprise! And my first time using anything like this. We're due 8th of April, making me 9 weeks tomorrow - when I have my booking in appointment. We're very excited now were over the shock! We've been together 6 years, lived together for 3 and vey happy together - so seeing it as a blessing. Mouth shut (dead hard for my northern gob!) so nobody knows yet. I have endometriosis so were waiting until 12 week scan for a bit of peace of mind.
Totally sick though, nauseous from waking up until falling asleep, meaning need to eat every hour or I puke :( headaches, dizziness, breathless, BLOATED ha!!! But shouldn't complain as people have it well worse! Have gained a load of weight and boobs have gone up to a 32ff. Jeez!
Lush to see something where I can hear about how everyone else is fairing. So thanks for sharing and helping put my mind at ease over stuff! Look forward to sharing this with yous! :) x

CamelKnees · 02/09/2012 20:21

Hi ladies
Yes to 2nd hand stuff
Yes to emotional weekends
Yes to lying down a lot trying not to be sick
Urgh!

Now. can we talk about boobs?

Mine are ENORMOUS.
Wel actually the right one is enormous. The left one is just big.
I'm only 6+6. This doesn't bode well for the next 33 weeks does it? You'll be ale to see them from space by the time I give birth!

JaquelineHyde · 02/09/2012 20:34

Haha Grin don't worry too much they have a huge growth spurt in the first trimester and then stay pretty much the same until near the birth.

If you want to know what huge boobs feel like then wait until you stop breast feeding but your milk is still coming in for a few days....I was like Pamela Anderson, they were just gigantic (but also very hard and quite painful) Grin

I feel better this evening, I'm going to get an early night and just chill. I have so many phone calls to make tomorrow I really need my wits about me...maybe a list is needed.

Welcome and congratualtions KatyT86 settle in and enjoy all the chat (and there is lots of chat)

CamelKnees · 02/09/2012 20:39

Oh Jacqueline I hope that's true this time - last time I went up a cup size every 4 weeks!!!! From a B to a FF in 40 short weeks. I shudder at the thought of all that growth again!! DH called me Lola Ferrari when my milk came in last time. They were seriously O.B.S.C.E.N.E

Yes to a list. I LOVE a list! All PG related or boring old real life stuff?

PinkFondantFancy · 02/09/2012 20:44

dandelion I had progesterone suppositories when I had my DD, I was advised to wean off though, not go cold turkey. Personally I'd go every other day for a week and then stop

Rivergirly · 02/09/2012 20:51

hello

just thought I would add myself in to this group - finally somewhere I can talk about being pregnant - before reaching the magical 12 weeks!!! I am 8+1 with dc3 well 4 in a kinda way - I have 2ds and my partner has 1dd. This was a slightly unexpected one but has turned out a happy addition to the family - and the man getting down on one knee!!!

I feel like my tummy has just got huge (and really have no idea how I am going to hide it at work - only ever got away with it with dc1) and got the usual nausea that only seems to resolve by eating any carb based food on a regular basis and am also extremely thirsty all the time - something I did not experience with my two boys at all but no metallicy (? is that how you spell it) taste this time or indigestion - phew!

oh and to add to the second hand argument - having sold/given away all my baby stuff - my youngest is just about to be 5 - I would most definitely accept any second hand items offered and really only plan to buy a pushchair brand new - have a fab second hand baby shop around the corner from me.

xx

ps due date is currently 12th April - roll on scan date on 26th September!!

CamelKnees · 02/09/2012 20:54

Rivergirly congrats on pregnancy and engagement!!

SneezySnatcher · 02/09/2012 20:56

Camel I'm with you on the boobs. Mine were pretty big already (30G) but they are massive (and veiny) now. I need to go and get a new bra fitted but it's so expensive and I know they'll grow again!

Last PG I wore unwired bras, but there's no way I'm doing that this time - I'd be tripping over them.

YY to the ridiculousness when your milk comes in/when you finally wean!

HaveALittleFaith · 02/09/2012 21:02

Welcome to river! Congratulations on the bump and the rock! How did he pop the question?

Yes yes to the enormous boobs! Definitely at least a cup size bigger! DH is like Grin when he sees them. I'm just rotating the 4 sports bras I have - so much comfier and extra support with the thicker straps. I will have to get sized and fitted at some point but holding off while I can!

wishfulthinking1 · 02/09/2012 21:19

Hi river- I want to know all about the proposal too!!!!

enjay0811 · 02/09/2012 21:41

Evening all! Hope you've all had a sickness free relaxing Sunday!

Not much going on with me, playing with the kids, picnic tea at mum's now home in pj's catching up on some tv. Dh's hangova has finally gone so even have some conversation! In all honesty, think its the first time since we had BFP and it was such a shock, its sunk in now and was a bit of a chance for him to relax. Has anyone else had to deal with OH being in bit of shock?

Welcome to all the newbies! April really is going to be busy Smile

Oh and on the 2nd hand thing, why turn your nose up at perfectly good things? I'll def be accepting any welcome donations from friends and family.

And boobs...besides a bit tender and slightly larger, fine! It's my rapidly expanding waistline that's more alarming and only 7+3 Shock

bunnygirl80 · 02/09/2012 22:01

I don't see the problem with second hand stuff. I got most of the expensive stuff (pram, Moses basket etc) off eBay for DS and bouncer, jumperoo, bumbo etc from friends. They only use the stuff for a couple of months before they outgrow it, so it's mostly nearly new anyway.

Dating scan day for me today. Hardly slept a wink last night, mixture of excitement and nerves I think
