'under the thatch' is also highly recommended for to-die-for self catering cottages (and gypsy caravans). Really worth a look.

Evening! Well a much better day to report here, yay! Took dd to play and then this afternoon went to the midwife drop in, and heard baby's heartbeat. DD was in the room and heard it too, we told her it was the baby, and then she pointed to the heartbeat machine and said 'baby'! she's so sweet.
Have decided not to go into work tomorrow as I have been iffy this week, and will have finished my anti-biotics by then. Anyway boss is not in office tomorrow to explain my new role. Am so so excited about the idea of getting back to normal, and it will be nice to be able to sit in the office and not even to have to try to conceal pregnancy at all!

Ood when you were off ill, was it the beginning or the end of your pregnancy? did they ever give you a medical reason for the extra tiredness?

Sundae a couple of years ago my friend and I did an October holiday and drove from Glasgow up to Skye on a sort of mini tour and it was absolutly fantastic. The weather was really good for us and it was so so beautiful. I was seven months pregnant at the time, but I didn't mind sitting in the car while my friend drove. Actually theres been really great weather everytime i've been to Scotland, but I hear that isn't necessairily the norm is it north of the border ladies? Wink

kurlyvoice · 06/09/2012 19:49

Oh my goodness, you lot can talk! I haven't even posted on this thread and it's nearly full!

Sorry not to read back but a full thread is a bit too much. Hope there have been lots of happy scans in my absence and no bad news.

I had a horrible sickness bug (which I mistook for pg sickness for a while), but it culminated in a day of not being able to keep anything down including liquids and DH threatened to take me to A&E as I was getting dehydrated. Thankfully the good ladies of mumsnet saved me with an ice lolly suggestion, but it totally wiped me out. Am hoping that the baby is still ok but the usual signs are good so just have to wait and see.

Really suffering with lower back / buttock / leg pain (sciatica?) so have been referred to physios by the doctor. Back to school + separation-anxiety-filled toddler do not help!

Have my first appointment with the consultant on Monday to discuss the preeclampsia risk and plan for this time. I'm scared, I don't know what to expect, and I'm worried that they won't take me seriously...

Anyway, 15 weeks today and would quite like to stop feeling sick / finish a meal / not be exhausted all the time. How are you all doing in the sickness & tiredness stakes?

Anyone felt flutters yet? I keep thinking I can feel something but it's random and not every day...

Sheldonella · 06/09/2012 19:52

Oops, that didn't come out right. The stuff about links is below the posting box if you are using the normal website rather than the mobile version.

Sheldonella · 06/09/2012 19:54

... ignore post above, I hit preview on the original instead of post. That was about a bit I had written for JoJo about making links! I tried to do an example but it just converted it to a link. Basically, you need two lots ofsquare brackets around it.

Evening. Ugh, I'm glad today is over. Work was so hard this afternoon, I could barely stay awake. I felt totally useless and just wanted to curl up and sleep. I'm so glad I have some time off next week.

Just knitted a bit more of my cardigan, it's coming along nicely. I will try to finish the other bootie tonight too although I really made my hands hurt yesterday.

Very healthy dinner tonight - teriyaki salmon with stir fried veg and noodles.

Doodle What a lovely neighbour! I have a nice one one side but bonkers ones the other.

sundae What a lovely thought! I have been longing for a rocking chair. I have a lovely image of feeding the baby in one.

GummiberryJuice · 06/09/2012 19:56

Tramp I forgot to ask, you said you were booked for alovely spa day, wouldn't happen to be in Galgorm would it, if so you HAVE to eat in Gillies, and I highly recommend the seafood chowder,

Before getting pg my plan was to surprise dh with a night there once dcs all settled back to school, but I don't want to be near the lovely Jacuzzi and can't get in

Manda glad your boss was pleased and reacted well

Waves to everyone else, so much more I wanted to say but I think I'm actually sleep typing

MrsRigby · 06/09/2012 20:14

Mrs Perfect is outside her house washing the fucking front door and porch.

And people accuse me of being a 1950s housewife!

Plus, she's lost a load of weight and has a flat tummy.

Fucking bitch.

tedmundo · 06/09/2012 20:20

Christ, you never told us she was perfect housewife and thin too. I hate her as well.

OodHousekeeping · 06/09/2012 20:37

sundae careful where you go that week in uk as its half term some places!

three 2 months at the start- tiredness turned out to be because of my BP meds, was sleeping 23/24 some days. One month towards the end with SPD.

mandasand · 06/09/2012 20:41

Thanks Em, Gummi Tiddley and Zoey Smile Feels like it's real now, and all systems go!

Ohhhh and I second Em's recommendation for Rural Retreats! I love them! You get roll-top baths and a fab hamper for when you arrive, sigh ?

StealthToddler · 06/09/2012 20:53

Talking rocking chairs, my nursing chair (gliding rocker and stool) was one of the best purchases I ever made. Given I bf to 8 months, 10 months and 14 months, i have spent a serious part of my days nursing in it. And nights. I was even able to sleep in it. And when older children have been really sick and needed to be held semi upright for hours with a tired parent in the night it has been a godsend.
There's loads of kit I bought and regretted - this was not one of those!!!

zoeymlucas · 06/09/2012 20:53

God what a bitch she is Rigby I am now pulling the cover over my growing belly at the sheer mention of a skinny person- I am with you on turning her oven up and ruining her food Grin then helping her salvage the burnt mess she couldn't possibly serve!

So dick head sorry but annoyed SIL texted DH and was upset I put my 12 weeks scan picture on face book as its hard for her to see!! If you see in the paper pregnant lady down south kills SIL - that will be me! Not only did she announce her pregnancy 2 weeks after I MC she stated she was using our name if a girl as 'we didn't need it', to then 3 weeks later decided to abort baby as it messed up her life to much!!!!!! That's fine and her choice in life but to not want me to be excited or share my much wanted baby with the world is pushing it to far! Got to love families! She is just lucky I am too ill to go round her house and tell her straight!

StealthToddler · 06/09/2012 21:11

Omg zoey she sounds hideous.....
Will read the metro headlines with interest tomorrow morning

lannyshrops · 06/09/2012 21:21

Hey all, I'm still here, i've been lurking this week, managing to read but not post! Congrats on all lovely scans and welcome newes!
I have been a bit incommunicado as I am so tired as work is zapping all my energy...I'm having a bit of a grim time, basically trying to run a service with 50% of the staff to do it. Trying to remain stress free but not always achieving Sad However a have a weeks leave from tomorrow so we're off to SIL holiday cottage in Norfolk for a relax, hopefully that will so the trick!?

If anyone has any ideas on how to remain stress free I'll gladly give them a go!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 06/09/2012 21:25

Hi all
Will quickly add to this thread before it goes 'boom' and we move another new one!

Laughing much Mrs R at your Mrs perfect stories.

Had a knackering day, had meeting in
One part of the county this morning And then another meeting 60 miles away this aft. Normally office based, but typically when I do get out for meetings, they are bloody miles away from each other, in the same day!!!

Need to be doing some ironing, but frankly, cannot be naffed. Going to stop with my bro and his GF this weekend, so looking forward to that. Then after scan on Monday, got three days at work, then off down to Devon to stop with friends for a week. Cannot wait!

Hope you're feeling more chirpy soon Turkish, pregnancy can be a funny old time with all those hormones!

Can hear DD still dicking about upstairs. Just wish she'd go to bloody bed. Grrrr toddlers.... Grin

theTramp · 06/09/2012 22:03

Gummi - no idea, it's somewhere in Newcastle?? - is that right?

ThreeForTea · 06/09/2012 22:34

Ah, Devon is lovely Ethel really hope you get the weather.

Totally love gliding chairs. I borrowed my mum's when I had dd, was really nice to sit on. Also when I rocked it brought on contractions at the end!

ThreeForTea · 06/09/2012 22:38

Blush I just had to call dh up to get rid of a big spider in my bedroom, you know one of those massive ones that looks like its been living on beef all summer?? I don't usually mind them but this morning when I got out of the shower one ran off of my towel and across my shoulder, eek.. I think I may have an aversion now!

Lexiindisguise · 06/09/2012 22:49

Ugh Three we had one size of your palm in our bathroom! Even the cats looked nervous of it!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 06/09/2012 22:55

Oh god I HATE the spider chat this time if year, never mind the piggin spiders. I need to get my chestnut spray out. I HATE HATE HATE them and am terrified of themBlush...

theTramp · 06/09/2012 23:08

Poor spiders. So much nicer than flys.

ThreeForTea · 06/09/2012 23:11

lexi ughhh!
Ethel chestnuts?? like the conker kind?

confuddledDOTcom · 06/09/2012 23:53

Hello, I tried to catch up yesterday and the page refreshed so I had a tantrum and haven?t been back on since! Big catch up lol

I feel strangely jealous of all the scans, when I get my next one it?ll be 5 weeks between the two and I?ve never gone that long other than my first scan which tends to be done by pre-pregnancy anyway so is an early one.

Pipsicles ? I?d been on the sick for awhile then started an art course, during that I had a miscarriage which took me awhile to get over (I hadn?t been diagnosed at that point) then went quickly through making a family. When #2 was about 13 months old I did the course, but then unexpected babies have slowed me down! The course is done in three days, about 8 hours a day ? doesn?t sound like a lot but it?s not a medical career, it?s about supporting the parents ? there?s also a webinar version now which takes longer than 3 days because obviously it?s a lot to do 8 hours a day on webinar. Once you?ve done the course you can either work privately and as there?s no legal requirements you can do that if you wish, or you can go through the recognition process which means you have a mentor who you feedback to over the next 4 births and if she?s happy she gives you your recognition. First 4 births you can charge £200 max but after that you?re your own person and can charge what you wish. If you?re a birthy type person it?s a great career, although they say there is someone for everyone, so whatever it is that you enjoy you?ll find a client you?re perfect for.

TeaOperated, welcome to the group - how did you manage to get dates two weeks different?

sarahs999, it?s understandable Smile some of my doctors think I don?t need the injections but I always say (and those that think I do agree with me) what if I don?t and something happens? We won?t be able to say we did everything. With my condition they?re all the way through drugs but I can imagine how hard it is to come off something that you?re taking to protect your baby. Trust that they know what they?re doing though, unless you?ve done research or know something different ? which is what I did Blush Do you hold your breath every single scan until you see the baby is still there, too? I can have three a week and a fidgety baby and still not believe it!

Chefette what delightful family you have! Get yourself on an NCT course, it?ll really help to get yourself meeting people and look for other groups too, like aquanatal.

MrsRigby, no advice, but sorry you had such a rubbish day Sad

Zoey, we have a nappy bin, it?s the one that you get vouchers for in the Bounty pack but we got ours from The Baby Show. I need to get some cartridges for it. I?ve used it for a couple of years and it?s great, really keeps the smell locked in without the waste of bags for each nappy.

kurlyvoice sounds like you?ve got some PGP going on. Hope the physio can help.

If anyone wants anything by Lansinoh I can get:
Tubes of cream £8 (need to order 6)
24 box of pads £2.50 (need to order 3 boxes)
60 box of pads £3.60 (need to order 4 boxes)
Plus all the other things they do (Latch Assist, pumps, bottles, milk bags) but those are things to get if you need I think and some free information sheets and sample sachets of Lansinoh. I also need to put a minimum order of £30 in.

My plans for the weekend are to carry on tidying up (been having a real strip with the kids away) and then show what happens when DH goes away whilst I?m pregnant Blush (hormones go silly on me and I drive him around the bend lol I had a male friend getting a little... ahem... personal with me last weekend and it?s taken a lot of control to keep those hormones in check).

TeaOperated · 07/09/2012 07:09

Thanks for the welcomes/congrats - posting in a screaming rush before getting ready for another early start at work, sorry not to tag names.

Confuddled - I have a reaaaaaaally long cycle. I knew I was actually two weeks behind, that was the date I got when I used the date estimator on here, but doc/midwife used my LMP, hence long difference. But it explains why I'm still feeling crap, and I get an extra scan, so it all works out!

Was it possum asking about the house? Sixties, which I like but means it's cheap, three bedrooms and a garden. Not a dining kitchen (which is my 3rd dream thing) but a serving hatch and bigger kitchen, which will make life easier. It's in a lovely town about 10 miles from Edinburgh, not in Edinburgh itself, which is another reason why it's so much cheaper than our current 2 bed flat.

Now, the cat has just pissed on the bedspread (chucked on the floor as it's hot) while I posted this. Off to deal. I can just tell today is going to shape up fabulously.

Hope everyone else's goes better!

OodHousekeeping · 07/09/2012 07:18

Envy at all the scans, now we are telling people they keep asking to see a picture and we don't have one :(
