Hiya everyone and woohoo for the new thread!
YAY! tedmundo and pink! Really pleased to hear about your scans! It's so emotional isn't it? Who else is up for scans soon? Lanny, three and sundae (and others?) next week?
I hate to brag, but I'm too basking in the glow of having had my 12+4 scan this morning and everything looking good. It's been such an emotional day for both DH and me. We are brimming with good feeling, which I think is testament to how worried we were. Like someone else here said, my DH is normally so laid back about everything, but even he got worried about this.
So, both little babies are around 6cm form head to rump, which is what they should be. Their nuchal measurements were 2mm, which the monographer said was within normal range. I had my bloods done, and that's a bit trickier with twins and thyroid issues, but regardless of that and the ultimate ratio-of-risk we'll get, I somehow feel a really strong gut instinct that they are both doing really well. We saw them move! No somersaults or dancing for us, but both jostled about when poked and it was utterly amazing to see elbows and noses. Hugely overwhelming. And, of course, by now they look like babies rather than little aliens (as they did at 8 weeks). I have scans now every 2-4 weeks which is going to help with the anxiety a lot. Pheeeew!!
We told DH's family on the phone after. His mother is beyond excited! It's just brilliant sharing the news we're expecting, letting that sink in a bit, and then correcting them when they refer to 'baby' or 'cousin' in the singular ? and then having to manage their disbelief!
We went for a lovely brunch and then pram shopping! I know it's a bit early but wanted to see the twin buggies in action. I had to push my belly out to its fullest extent as I felt a bit of a fraud in there with ten thousand about-to-pop women! Twas fun though.
Really good to hear your going-back-to-work, or not, experiences, so thanks everyone for sharing! Three, yes ideally I'd like someone to come to us, rather than me take babies elsewhere, so that is helpful advice about a nanny, thanks! It may work for someone training to be a nursery nurse or similar just to have 10-12 hours a week or something like that. It may also have the benefit of not ruining us financially! (Though I'd make sure they were well paid.)
Oh, and what's a Bounty pack? No-one has offered me one! Does it have chocolate bars in it?
Welcome new ladies! Sorry not to name-check, but lovely to have you all on board!
