hermionie .. Lucky you! It is a great job, always changing, moving onward. My current Prince2 expired last year and truly felt like the end of a chapter for me!

mandasand · 25/08/2012 16:14

Hiya everyone and woohoo for the new thread! Smile

YAY! tedmundo and pink! Really pleased to hear about your scans! It's so emotional isn't it? Who else is up for scans soon? Lanny, three and sundae (and others?) next week?

I hate to brag, but I'm too basking in the glow of having had my 12+4 scan this morning and everything looking good. It's been such an emotional day for both DH and me. We are brimming with good feeling, which I think is testament to how worried we were. Like someone else here said, my DH is normally so laid back about everything, but even he got worried about this.

So, both little babies are around 6cm form head to rump, which is what they should be. Their nuchal measurements were 2mm, which the monographer said was within normal range. I had my bloods done, and that's a bit trickier with twins and thyroid issues, but regardless of that and the ultimate ratio-of-risk we'll get, I somehow feel a really strong gut instinct that they are both doing really well. We saw them move! No somersaults or dancing for us, but both jostled about when poked and it was utterly amazing to see elbows and noses. Hugely overwhelming. And, of course, by now they look like babies rather than little aliens (as they did at 8 weeks). I have scans now every 2-4 weeks which is going to help with the anxiety a lot. Pheeeew!! Grin We told DH's family on the phone after. His mother is beyond excited! It's just brilliant sharing the news we're expecting, letting that sink in a bit, and then correcting them when they refer to 'baby' or 'cousin' in the singular ? and then having to manage their disbelief!

We went for a lovely brunch and then pram shopping! I know it's a bit early but wanted to see the twin buggies in action. I had to push my belly out to its fullest extent as I felt a bit of a fraud in there with ten thousand about-to-pop women! Twas fun though.

Really good to hear your going-back-to-work, or not, experiences, so thanks everyone for sharing! Three, yes ideally I'd like someone to come to us, rather than me take babies elsewhere, so that is helpful advice about a nanny, thanks! It may work for someone training to be a nursery nurse or similar just to have 10-12 hours a week or something like that. It may also have the benefit of not ruining us financially! (Though I'd make sure they were well paid.)

Oh, and what's a Bounty pack? No-one has offered me one! Does it have chocolate bars in it?

Welcome new ladies! Sorry not to name-check, but lovely to have you all on board!

theTramp · 25/08/2012 16:41

Mand - fantastic news. And I think [ram shopping makes perfect sense when you are both so excited and have seen the duo jostling about on the scan.

Hello to everyone new and old.

Re being ravenous. I went from nauseous to ravenous last week and ate enough for about 4 every day and now I seem to be back to normal. Mind you normal for me is still a fair bit of food.

Had vegan friend and her 8 month old over for lunch today. Been a while since I cooked vegan but I had a brain wave and went for a pea/asparagus/broadbean/roasted butternut squash risotto with side salad and garlic bread (home made with soya butter) followed by warm summer fruits with soya ice cream and melted chocolate for pudding. Yum. I am now so full you could roll me. MrM has fallen asleep and my plan to go maternity shopping has been scuppered. Well there's always tomorrow.

Isabelle Oliver maternity jeans are on my - to be tried - list.

JoJoBella84 · 25/08/2012 17:11

Longest, train ride, ever!!
Only just reached Stonehaven... Train delayed and i'm having a 'weak bladder' kind of a day!! Luckily I brought the baby wipes with me so keep sanitising the seat - have resisted the urge to vomit!!
Fab news for everyone's scans!! Now that my exam is done I find myself daydreaming about bambi much more!! I can't wait until Thursday to see him/her again!!
I keep looking at my scan pictures from 12 weeks and 13 weeks and am amazed at the difference in just 6 days :)

I keep hearing about Isabella Oliver mat clothes, are they really as good as they are made out to be? I want to buy a dress for Christmas day. I love dressing up at Christmas so want something special :)

Lexiindisguise · 25/08/2012 17:18

Aww ted & manda so pleased for you both!Smile
Got family here but just popping in to say got my NT combined results and we are low risk - 10 times lower based on scan and bloods than we we would be on my age alone. Anomaly scan in October, can't wait to see how the bean is doing but am relaxing now as things seem to be good so far :-)

backwardpossom · 25/08/2012 17:46

Not far now then, Jojo! I know you're scooting off again to York, and then coming back up again - how long are you staying for once you're back up and when are you 'permanently' up here? (I know permanently isn't right, but you know what I mean...)

Vivee74 · 25/08/2012 18:07

Great to hear everyone is getting their scans etc.

I'm a bit behind and only had my booking appointment this week even though 10+ weeks. Came away disappointed and reached for the Tim tams (chocolate biscuits). Felt like she wanted to go home and a tick list of questions on drugs, depression, domestic violence etc which are so not relevant. Had hoped it would be positive and a chance to ask questions. No reference to any symptoms, exercise or healthy eating. Am hoping I don't see her again!!!!

Question for those who have had their dating scan, has your due date changed and if so by much. Really want my due date to come forward three days. If so will be entitled to a full 6 months maternity pay, otherwise I'll be redundant and entitled to nothing after 4 years service.

Sorry for the rant. Otherwise am enjoying hearing how everyone else is going. Have a good weekend.

ThreeForTea · 25/08/2012 18:39

Ah well done manda glad that all sounds great! I love the idea of surprising people with two.

lexi good results :)

tramp that meal sounds amazing, I wish I was such an inventive cook!

vivee sorry to hear about that midwife, not so jolly. Re due dates, I think the length of your cycle can affect it. If its longer than 28 days you woyld be likely to be moved back, if shorter then forward. Do you know at all when you would have ovulated because that can help people work out due dates sometimes I think - just if its earlier than normal you might be further along than dates say. With dd I was moved back five days and I had a 32 day cycle. I am expecting to be moved back with this one too by four or five days. Sorry about that with, it seems really harsh :(

Em2010 · 25/08/2012 19:11

Ooh shiny new thread! Loving the name tiddley - witty as ever!

Yay for happy scan day. 2 scans, 3 babies Grin

Welcome to the newcomers, lovely to have new faces.

Have spent an utterly exhausting day with pils at Harlow Carr and Bettys in Harrogate and have now taken to my bed feeling very ropey (though that could be owing to the amount of cake consumed!) Mil is a nice enough person but just beginning to grate on me now, think it's time they went home now! I suppose I'm quite a liberal mum and she is so controlling over ds over stupid things. Pick your battles is my motto!! Also I can't stand how she bosses DH around and stands over him telling him how to look after ds. He's a very competent dad! I wish she'd leave him alone!!! Sorry for the rant....

Re working, I felt a bit emotional reading some of your stories! I wish I was the kind of mum who was able to look after ds full time. My job is horrible, I hate it but still I needed the routine that working offers so I work 2.5 days a week and ds goes to a fab nursery which he loves even though I earn so little that it barely covers the fees and just leaves me with enough for the occasional shopping trip. I am really hoping that I'm young enough so that by the time that dc are In full time education I will be able o retrain and have a career.

Sorry for any typos, I'm on the Blimmin iPad!!

Em2010 · 25/08/2012 19:15

Ps no one offered me a bounty pack Sad but I found a pile t the hospital the other day so helped myself to one Grin !!

Pps jojo just read your post, Isabella Oliver dresses are vvv comfy!!!

JoJoBella84 · 25/08/2012 20:02

possom I'm forward and back again mon-weds and from thurs will be in Aberdeen until probably 16th sept :) then my maternity intercalation starts on 25th jan so will be up for 7 months from then :) unless I want to extend. I'm entitled to take 45 weeks if I wish :)
House sale completed yesterday so heading to Kemnay tomorrow to sit in my new home and imagine the nursery all nicely decorated :)

JoJoBella84 · 25/08/2012 20:02

I really have to stop putting smiley faces next to everything!!

JoJoBella84 · 25/08/2012 20:03

em I think I will have to invest! Do you know of any stores that stock the brand or is it just online??!

ThreeForTea · 25/08/2012 20:59

Bounty packs are full of coupons, no chocolate bars I'm sorry to say! Some of them (if you collect all five) give you samples like a thimble sized pot of sudocreme, two pg tips decaff tea bags, nct bumpf, things like that. One of them let's you claim a free changing bag at Boots so you always see mums with the same bag! Quite fun stuff, but you do pay for it in the endless emails when you register!

backwardpossom · 25/08/2012 21:02

You can get the Boots changing bag without the bounty pack, btw! And give them false details when you sign up so you don't get spammed/phonecalls etc.

jojo Good stuff! We'll definitely have to meet up for a coffee at some point. :)

theTramp · 25/08/2012 21:19

Lexi - fantastic news!

JoJo - there's a store in cov garden but otherwise it's online. I've bought non mat wear from them in past, well made and allpregnant friends seem to have one of their wrap dresses in their wardrobe so they must be good. Their A/W catalogue should be along soon & they always have great party dresses. Boden are pretty good too I believe, although their normal wear is usually bit short on me so I'll prob avoid them.

Had quick nap after posting earlier & I've just woke up. 4 hours - oops. MrM is hungover but wants to know "my excuse" - I've explained this is how tired I feel every day & always want to nap.. I think he's getting to understand better now ;)

Right cup of tea, quick tidy then what to have for supper. The garlic bread was really strong so we reek of garlic :) I've been dreaming about garlic chips so may have to send MrM to the chippy... So v healthy!

sarahs999 · 25/08/2012 21:35

Blimey you lot. Second page already? Haven't you got stuff to do??!

Back in hove for dh birthday weekend. Went to a Barbie today and told some friends I was pg; lovely reactions As they know all about my history.

Whoever was talking about Dulwich - I'm not far either! Never thought of going there for maternity stuff. I get mine on eBay - won a great bundle last night. Isabella Oliver stuff much cheaper on there too.

Sorry about ropey spellings etc- on my phone. Night all

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 25/08/2012 23:00

Hello, not caught up at all, just marking place. Xxx

sarahs999 · 26/08/2012 03:46

Oh - someone was mentioning dating and being moved forward. I'm absolutely sure of my dates as we were charting, ov predicting and generally obsessive, but at my scan they put me forward by four days on measurements. I was kind of concerned as I will probably have a c section a couple of weeks early due to my history and this will take it even earlier but the sonographer insisted these were my new dates and that they don't use lmp as a guide after the daring scan. Silly when you're dead sure bit there you go . So you do have a chance of being moved forward. My new due date is 8 march; it was 12 march.

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 26/08/2012 06:51

Hey everyone!

So, suggestions please for maternity work clothes!

I was a size 8/10 and lived in body con dresses- nothing fits and school starts again next week!!

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 26/08/2012 07:01

Oh and my dates moved forward too! Unfortunatly (or fortunately??) we had no clue when it could have been to pin it down to a day- whilst ovulating I was on holiday so...could have been any day!

I really hope it moves for you- that is a sucky situation.
