Her manager was very wrong to say she could as well. It is very clear in the policy. I am known as 'the policy girl' at work as I am frequently telling managers and HR about their policies Grin. >

applepieinthesky · 29/08/2012 09:44

That's true. If it's going to cause a lot of stress for the sake of a few days then you need to carefully consider if it's worth it. I think it's as much the way that they've handled it as well that has caused upset.

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 09:44

limpet if they have a trial pack, or do hire, go for that. You are very lucky having a nappy shop to visit. It helps to literally get a feel for them.

Iheartpasties · 29/08/2012 09:46

I drove for an hour today to visit and friend and on the way my boobs sat on my belly. depressing. Also I had a big humph because my face is massive, water retention or fat I dont know but I was annoyed and didnt feel like it was my face. Argh! I remember doing the biggest piss ever after dd was born and I had gone home again and then suddenly my face was normal again. I cant wait!!!!!!

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 09:47

Yeah, detective I think it is the manager who is at fault here. Once the paperwork is signed off, then you should be able to rely on it. But in future, make sure you know the policy back to front, and this applies in all areas of NHS staff issues.

YellowWellies · 29/08/2012 09:48

Detective - sorry if that sounded arsy - not intended just don't want you to go on a crusade against the bastards if it's going to stress you out x

YellowWellies · 29/08/2012 09:49

Swollen face can be pre-eclampsia pasties so keep an eye on it

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 09:49

iheart have you told MW about face swelling. It can be a sign of Pre eclampsia. How are you in yourself otherwise? please do not worry, just might be best to run it past your professionals.

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 09:50

Yes detective it is because we have your best interest at heart Thanks

MissMummy1 · 29/08/2012 09:57

Maternity pay/allowance is a bugger. I'm so confused by it all.

I've pretty much made up my mind to continue working freelance up until junior arrives, take whatever maternity allowance i am/am not entitled to and then go back to uni next september to do a post grad. Not entirely sure what in yet but fancy converting my primary teaching degree to secondary PE. We'll see.

Bit stressed today. Have to give police statement about the entire fiasco with my ex landlord yesterday. I'm mortified - the only dealings I've ever had with the police before was when I witnessed a car crash. Ahhh!

Also dh just phoned. Starting tomorrow he's moving over to nightshifts. This wasnt meant to happen till January and he won't get paid anymore for it. So he's in a foul mood today as well.

kirrinIsland · 29/08/2012 10:02

Did he DH21 I didn't see him - hope I didn't walk blindly past him and look like I was ignoring him?! - I have previous for that!
I find I am just wearing the same things over and over. I have 1 pair of jeans which are good and comfy, and some leggings which are starting to dig a bit but I hope they'll see me through - I'm not buying anything else at this stage. I have been wearing the same work trousers for weeks as they are all I have that are suitable - luckily I only work 2 days so plenty of time to get them washed in between :)

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 10:08

detective if you already have annual leave signed off to 4th then that last week has to be carried over and tagged on to end of mat pay at same rate of payment. That is how I would tackle it with the twat of a manager who signed it off in error. That way you have lost nothing.

Evilwater · 29/08/2012 10:16

Detective- it sounds like you need to go off sick! With all the stress and hassle. As for the car parking that's bad, my trust are very supportive. I think it boils down to we have too pay to.

I too havn't been told what I'm getting while off on mat leave. I need to phone up about that.

Now for the MEGA pastie making.
Evil

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 10:25

evil are the pasties a craving or are you having a party?

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 10:27

If detective went off sick she would have to start mat leave three weeks earlier due to policy so would screw herself over, but could also carry over any annual leave to tag on the end.

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/08/2012 10:28

Lol kirrin no it's ok, tbh I'm surprised he recognised you having only met you once! I'm usually in my own world when out with ds as well Grin

Going to have a look round the asda baby event today, try and stock up on a few more bits.
Oh also if anyone is having trouble printing the asda Huggies coupon out if you try about 3 times and it still doesn't work you can tell them there's a problem and put in your details and theyll send the coupon in the post which is what I've done (they should just send the coupon in the first place!)

NervousAt20 · 29/08/2012 10:34

My in laws cat has never been bothered with me before, she is such a man cat but since I've been preg she stalks me Grin follows me from room to room, around the garden and the second I sit down she is all over my bump and purring away, so that's what made me wonder about animals and scent valium my dog however is just as clingy as ever so wouldn't notice the change

applepieinthesky · 29/08/2012 10:38

Nervous They say that cats know when someone's pregnant but my dog is completely oblivious.

MissMummy1 · 29/08/2012 10:54

I think my dog's clocked I'm preggers. He's a complete headcase but become very chilled around me - not quite as jumpy. He's also become quite protective of me when we're out and about. A small miracle really, I always thought he was braindead. YW will vouch for the fact he's a complete nutter!

kissyfur · 29/08/2012 11:00

rowing very Envy of your Wagamamas lunch! Enjoy Grin

Evilwater · 29/08/2012 11:16

Valium- its pissing down with rain, and our families pasties are known to be very good. Ive been taught by my grandmother who is a true cornish woman. That's why I've ended up doing 15. However looking at the fillings I could do a lot more. I'm having a cooking craving!

I'm going to post a pic on facebook when some of them come out of the oven.
Evil.

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 11:16

I am freeeeeee!!!!! The boot is no more Grin and the doctor said I should not have been in a boot anyway due to the increased risk of DVT due to being pg. I knew that anyway, so have been keeping an eye on things. Just a bloody great varicose vein from knee to ankle, but hopefully that will become less obvious post delivery. Off out for a walk in proper shoes soon, and if I do ok, will see if the car will start after 7 weeks. It is a VW so it should!

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 11:17
horseylady · 29/08/2012 11:24

Brill news!!! Yes my trust will average the pay over however long you take, up to one year. They willl give you the breakdown of pay each month too and how it's split. I was quite impressed (now I have it!!)

Think my horse knows there's something different. Big dog might, pup defo not, no idea with the cats!!

kirrinIsland · 29/08/2012 11:37

Great news Valium - free at last :)

My dogs are oblivious to my pregnancy - but then, none of them are exactly brainy. horsey I'm impressed your horse knows something is up. Mine would recognize if her feed bowl was missing but pretty much everything else passes her by!
