Is anyone doing preggo yoga?

DH has just offered to pay for me to do classes up until junior's born.

We both ended up with a surprise day off today - very rare - so went for a huge walk along the coastal paths. Bliddy knackered now but hoping the fresh air has done some good!

SwissArmyWife · 26/08/2012 19:39

Hi all, hope you're all doing well :)

catbag congrats on the wedding, I hope it all went well!

WRT pain relief, I had a water birth the first time round and gas and air, but had nothing else. I found breathing properly helped so much. I'm hoping to do the same this time round, but you never can tell what will happen or how you'll feel.
An open mind is the best thing to stick in your hospital bag!

I have packed a bit of my hospital bag, got everything for baby but only breast pads and maternity pads for me so far. I am definitely packing some comfy slippers this time and a dressing gown as I forgot those first time and regretted it! And probably a lot of chocolate. Grin

TitsalinaBumSquash · 26/08/2012 19:41

I'm not in a hurry to measure my bump! I don't want to think about how big I've got since being pregnant. Grin

Is anyone else really thirsty all the time? I've had to start filling a pint glass up with crushed ice and water every 2-3 hrs at night so I can drink the water down in 1 then go back to sleep whole the ice melts so I have more to drink when I wake up again with raging thirst a few hrs later! It's madness, I've lost most my appetite though so I assume its proving useful somewhere down the line.
I am getting awful cramp in my feet and legs though so I'm not sure if it's related.

Jr is busily flipping over during the day, I wish he's find a position and stay there, the kicks I can deal with but when he decided to do a full roll it blardy hurts!

We finished his clothes shopping today, my friend is buying us a snowsuit for him and between me and DP and the Inlaws we have got quite a bit of nb and 0-3, 3-6 months stuff, just the monitor to go and FIL is getting us a swinging chair and SIL is getting cot sheets. Then it's the baby bath and we're all sorted. It's weird that people are wanting to get us stuff, I come from a family that doesn't do buying each other gifts so we never got anything from anyone with the last 2 children ( which is fine, I'd never expect anything) so its odd to be asked what we'd like for the baby.

Still got savage SPD here, rely feels like someone's taken a big hard kick in the groin, the theraline pillow is doing wonders though, I'm a little bit in love with it. Grin

ShellyBobbs · 26/08/2012 20:01

I'm thirsty all the time too, I find eating fruit works in between gulping water. No cramps though, but bottom of my belly is really hurting today.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 26/08/2012 20:21

I got cramp in both feet in H&M today, I was squatting looking at some clothes on the bottom rail and couldn't get up, DP was somewhat alarmed. Grin

I did ALOT of walking yesterday, by the evening I genuinely thought I was in labour, I said to DP "1 more contraction and I'm calling the hospital" then I promptly fell asleep. Blush it was really uncomfortable tightenings though, reminded me of being in labour with DS2.

ValiumQueen · 26/08/2012 20:40

brockle very jealous of your nappies Grin more details needed - are they the two part ones, ie cover and nappy, or all in ones with cover attached? Are they bamboo, towelling or microfibre? What are the liners like, if there are any?

Main rules are not to soak, just dry pail. If soiled swish out poo in the toilet, with a flush, then dry pail. All can go in together. Wash at least once every three days, and do a cold rinse first. Use 1/4 of dose of detergent, and no fabric softener. Do not use napisan or anything else. If stained, hang in sunshine. Try to line dry whenever possible. Bamboo takes for ever to dry, but is very absorbent. Microfibre dries quickly, but is not very absorbent. Do not tumble dry wraps.

mrswee · 26/08/2012 21:11

Yes VERY VERY tired and sore here. DH has gone back to the new flat to do more DIY, so i thought I'd go to bed early..... no chance, there's Edinburgh's paralympic event thing going on 2 mins from my house at Meadowbank stadium, it's the loudest thing on earth. I am a right party pooper but I am not sure it needs to be quite so bloody loud!!!! Being a bank holiday, I presume it's on until really late too. My bedroom is at the front, and as I sit in my bed typing this, I am facing the noise. :(

ValiumQueen · 26/08/2012 21:20

My sympathies mrswee got any ear plugs?

I am tired too. Thought it was my age, so encouraged I am not the only one. And so emotional!!

mrswee · 26/08/2012 21:29

I really can't handle having things in my ears, I have dry itchy ears all the time and ear plugs really irritate them.

Luckily DH just texted me to say it finishes at 9.30! my prayers are answered.

Our new flat is 15/20 mins walk down hill from here and he can hear it there!!

I am so VERY tired, yesterday was so awful I kept thinking I was just going to pass out/burst in to tears/collapse or explode with tiredness. I don't remember being this bad last time. I guess I was getting more sleep.
I will mention it to my midwife next week. May be I am iron deficient.

I and 27 weeks and have only seen my midwife once! saw another midwife one time and my doctor one time. Crazy. She is very useless anyway so I'm not missing her!

horseylady · 26/08/2012 21:42

Mrswee I was told defo won't see same mw twice unless the stand in one is rotad on like that?!

I'm tired but I also know my iron levels are really low, but I refused to take them before the holiday as they have made me ill in the past and I wanted to be well. Plus we've done loads of good walking!! Which is just fab!! Am over 30 weeks now!!! Baby hicoughing and kicking away!!

mrswee · 26/08/2012 21:49

horsey I am supposed to see the same midwife everytime except when the doctor takes the appointment, I have shared GP/midwife care, all done at my surgery.
My midwife is useless though, so i hope not to see her!
Last time I was pregnant, at my antinatal classes, she was banging on to the whole room of first time mum's and dads that the worst time of the year to have a baby is September, because of all the newly quailfied midwifes and how they don't know what they are doing.... everyone looked horrified and she kept going on until one of the dads piped up that we were all due in September!!!!!

well that's 21.48 now and the event is still going on... music has stopped though.

NervousAt20 · 26/08/2012 22:10

Sorry haven't caught up on the thread but a quick Q the top of my bump the skin is really painful and of I touch or push its sore top, think it could just be skin stretching but it hasn't felt like this before just wondering of anyone knows what it is or if it is stretching? Baby has been and is very active today. Thank you

mrswee · 26/08/2012 22:15

nervous sounds like stretching to me. My DD was breach for a while and I had what you describe from about 32-36 weeks because her head was up top but there was no room for it so it was streching my skin!
It's probably a funny position your baby is in, it'll move soon and do someting else like sticking a foot in your ribs!

NervousAt20 · 26/08/2012 22:22

Thank you mrswee :)

kissyfur · 26/08/2012 22:39

Congrats catbag hope you had a lovely day

My bump measures 39inches around if I breathe in! Wink

Pretty sure I'll definitely be having an epidural, unless they give you a spinal for an elective cs?! I had a day of labour without one after being induced last time and I was v glad when they put the epidural in!

I haven't packed my hospital bag yet, really should get the newborn clothes out of the loft and get them washed and ready. Last time I took so much stuff and I'm sure I didn't use that much of it so will try have a slimmed down bag this time.

Baby is giving me some belly wobbling kicks at the mo!

StuntNun · 27/08/2012 06:47

Morning everyone, what are we all doing in this fine bank holiday Monday? It's lashing down here so staying in and watching Star Wars with the kids looks like a good plan for me.

OP posts:
TitsalinaBumSquash · 27/08/2012 06:53

No idea yet, both the kids are asleep, DP is asleep after coming to bed at 5am. I'm wide awake although feeling a wee bit icky.
Maybe we'll visit MIL or maybe just spend the day in pottering.
Bright sun and blue skies here Smile

Passmethecrisps · 27/08/2012 07:22

Am up and ready for work but I must say I am not feeling it. I think I'm going to live the next few weeks from one weekend to the next. It doesn't seem to matter how much sleep I get. Ah well, once i get there I just have to get on with it.

Funny bump pain here again.

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/08/2012 07:32

I feel thirsty all the time as well sorry can't remember who said about it now. Drink gallons throughout the day but try not to at night because I need the loo enough as it is!

I think baby is transverse, pretty sure I can feel legs on my left side but on my last scan they've put cephalic.
But then theyve also changed my placenta from the back wall to the front so I don't believe everything it says. As long as baby is the right size.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 27/08/2012 07:57

Will be mainly blowing my nose today.

On the stretchy skin thing my bump is itching all over the place, is that stretching?

Luckily on this occasion I have seen the same midwife every time, last time it was a diff one every time and it really annoyed me. I have recently filled out a questionnaire on here about midwife care and mentioned how important continuity of care is ( obviously if you have a good midwife is preferable) and also how great it would be if community midwives actually hooked up with the relevant consultants once a while as I get a bit fed up with mixed messages.

That's my thought of the day anyway!

horseylady · 27/08/2012 08:05

Mrswee I should see the same one too but haven't and was told I wouldn't by the receptionist at the surgery last week as they'd got problems.

Shame.

Hopefully start yoga in two weeks!!

Another beautiful day here :)

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/08/2012 08:15

sophia is the questionnaire still open? Would love to have a moan say about my mw care!

kissyfur · 27/08/2012 08:57

Not sure what we'll be doing today, it looks bright and sunny so might take DD to a country park we haven't been to before.

I usually see the same midwife each time I've been. Although that could be more luck than anything I reckon, also I'm under consultant led care so dont see the midwife that often. I haven't seen the actual midwife I was assigned to at the start tho but that doesn't bother me as she wasn't particularly friendly when I saw her when pg with DD. think it's very important for midwifes to be friendly and approachable really, surely it should be a key requirement of the job!?

Hope everyone enjoys the bank holiday, and that those who are working don't have too bad days!

ValiumQueen · 27/08/2012 09:36

sophia skin will itch when stretching. Had it a lot in my first pg. lots of cream and massage it in. Burn feeling too with me. If itching is all over body, call triage though as could be your liver.

ValiumQueen · 27/08/2012 09:39

I Scotland so business as usual. Nothing seems to stop, except post offices and banks and council buildings close. I managed the school run on my own in the rain and with the pushchair, so quite proud of myself. Foot is so much better. Hoping boot will be discarded on Wednesday at review. Cannot wait to be able to drive!
