My mil gave me her old steam mop (but turns into handheld) so I've been cleaning the microwave and the oven and now I have braxton hicks Confused

Waiting for my scrummy children to come home from their dads, miss them a stupid amount while they're gone. But on the plus side we're off to the paralympics tomo Grin and I bought newborn (plain white) baby stuff. So when LO comes others can just buy outfits as we have the basics to keep it warm! Lol

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Have a nice meal with your mum eggs

Mummycox · 01/09/2012 17:12

Have a pile of ironing to do but been asleep ALL afternoon with the love machine on in the background Oops.

ISpyPlumPie · 01/09/2012 17:55

Got some Asda Baby Event bargains - two boxes of nappies, some breast pads and a bouncy chair. DH has been busy doing some more painting in the baby's room too (lots to do thanks to the previous owner's somewhat electic taste for strong dark colours over every conceivable surface). Just chilling out now though.

kate2boysandabump · 01/09/2012 18:18

I think naming ceremonies are a great idea, it isn't self indulgent, it's a celebration of becoming a family. I have very happy memories of my boys christening parties, we'll be having our new baby christened and most excitingly, this time my best friend is a vicar and she'll be able to do the service Smile

Stacey I've been having Braxton Hicks all afternoon too, they've eased off a bit now, as I've had a lie down.

Daydream Sorry you're having a rough time.

We had a lovely time at mum's lunch, but I'm really tired now and need a lie down.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 01/09/2012 20:14

Just found out my SIL (who I hated telling I was pregnant as she had a miscarriage earlier in the year and was rather fragile) is expecting in Feb!!!! So excited for her!!

Sorry had to share!

lauraloo09 · 01/09/2012 20:23

Evening all hope everyone has been ok, been keeping myself busy lately and it hit me I was neglecting you lovely ladies sorry :(

stacey I've been having braxton hicks too, been having them since 22 weeks but today has been more often and actually quite sore. That is absolutely wonderful news re your SIL here's wishing her a very happy and healthy pregnancy

ispy I'm going to be ordering stuff from asda online as GP said to try online shopping as it should be easier for me so going to order from the baby event :) going to stock up on stuff for my hospital bag like breast pads, maternity pads etc if I end up with a c-section again want to make sure I bring enough with me lol

emilyeggs · 01/09/2012 21:50

Congrats to your SIL stacy! Fab news Grin

utopian99 · 01/09/2012 22:32

spotty nice work on the carrier, i have been outbid on sling and pram Envy. Back to square one for me. Do very much like the five a day thinking!

stacy congrats for your SIL!

Naming ceremony was good, actually v chilled out and casual, and from people's comments happy to come to, so feeling happier about us having one. Uncle's wife has offered us a batch of their baby stuff so is going to give us a list, which is really kind of her!

MyDaydream · 01/09/2012 22:51

stacey that's great news, and it'll be lovely to have two children so close in age growing up.
I've discovered that deep fried cheese and proper home made profiteroles fix a lot. Although I ate a 3 course meal and still had to stop off for pineapple on the way home!

Mummycox · 01/09/2012 23:13

Congrats to your SIL stacey!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 02/09/2012 00:12

Thanks ladies! Am very pleased for them and for tadpole having a cousin nice and close in age!

[jealous] of hone made profiteroles!

Right now I am hosting a mobile disco for 1 I think Hmm once tadpole settles down I can sleep!

Paralympics tomorrow :)

SpottyTeacakes · 02/09/2012 06:08

That's great news Stacey Smile

Utopian I hope it wasn't me who outbid you on the sling Wink

We had a naming ceremony for dd it was a lovely day, not sure I'll do it again Blush I'm not a fan of organising these things

knottyhair · 02/09/2012 07:06

Congrats to your SIL Stacey! Had a similar situation when I was pregnant with DS - DP's sister & BIL had been TIC for 3 years and I had to tell her when I got BFP. Bless her, she seemed really happy for us and they started IVF a few weeks after. She was told due to her specific problems her chances of success were around 1%, but it worked and she was pregnant 2 months later! We both had boys and they are very close cousins Smile. She also went on to conceive her DD completely naturally as well.
STUPID QUESTION ALERT - anyone who had previously had a CS, do you still need maternity pads for bleeding afterwards runs away and hides to cover embarrassment at complete ignorance.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/09/2012 07:10

Knotty I haven't had a cs but afaik you still need maternity pads (can still get infection) but are likely to bleed less as they 'hoover' as much as they can out Grin (I could be wrong this is just what I heard!)

Mummycox · 02/09/2012 08:22

knotty was going to ask the same question Blush

HoneyMum21 · 02/09/2012 08:23

knotty I've been told that after a c section you'll still bleed for a similar amount of time to a vaginal birth bit the chances are it will be lighter. Apparently because the scar will be healing from the inside you get all the blood and stuff coming from that too (according to my midwife but I tale everything she says with a pinch of salt as she tends to talk rubbish). But yes, you'll still def need maternity pads.

knottyhair · 02/09/2012 08:25

Thanks Spotty & Honey! Glad I'm not the only one Mummycox!

HoneyMum21 · 02/09/2012 08:49

I only know cos I've been researching!

Bubbless · 02/09/2012 09:35

stacey i read your post and misread children for chicken.. it made for very interesting reading Hmm aha

knotty glad you asked, i hadednt even though about it tbh!!

i have been taking full use of the free listings thingy on ebay at the moment, why wont people pay when they win the item! they must get all of the emails and crap asking them to?! its the begininig of the month, they have just been paid?! grr. anger over!

meant to be going to a friends bbq this afternoon but really considering bailing, my legs are killing me this morning :/

hope those going to the 'lympics have a great day!!

FriendofDorothy · 02/09/2012 10:07

I lay in the bath this morning and for the first time I saw my belly moving from within. Very strange and exciting!

EggsMichelle · 02/09/2012 10:11

Good morning Ladies!

DH went on his annual drinking session with his rugby team last night, made it to 11pm and was calling for a lift home, isn't my DH hardcore!!! So while he is sleeping of his hangover and a possible rugby boot induced head injury, I'm watching Hollyoaks and eating extreme amounts of toast! Going to my MILs later for a roast dinner... Mmm lamb!

Congratulations Stacey to your SIL. My SIL is due in October and my sister in May, all the first grandchildren so will be lovely to have them all so close in age, although a bit of a shock for my parents and in laws.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/09/2012 10:17

My mum bought me a load of second hand baby clothes off a friend and I really don't like most of it. I don't want to sound ungrateful but it's not stuff I would ever choose. I really don't feel excited when I look at it. Might just hide it at the back of the cupboard Blush

lauraloo09 · 02/09/2012 10:33

Morning all...well i treated myself and bought a pacapod changing bag got it on ebay but its excellent condition so very happy :)

knotty i had a emcs last time and i bled for the normal time i would have if i delivered normally. I think due to how bad the spd is ill be asking for a section so will be buying pads again :)

Bubbless · 02/09/2012 11:09

eggs owh i want lamb! were going to MIL's for chicken today, ive totally gone off it since ive been pregnant and she isnt a very good cook can i come with you?!

spotty maybe use them in the middle of the night, when nappies are leaking and there is sick in their hair and stuff?! thats my plan for stuff i dont really like! then they will be stained and 'last resort' clothes..

what IS SPD laura, how would you describe it? my hips are really sore when i walk, but its moreso my groin area? i dont know if its just my muscles moving or something more serious :/

mwahmwah · 02/09/2012 12:03

Spd tends to be in the pubic bone bubless, I remember it feeling sore and there was an audible click like the bones were rubbing against each other! Not pleasant. I had it with ds but so far hav been ok this time. It probably is felt in hips etc as well but I didn't feel it there. Need to be really careful in labour tho because if u take serious pain killers (like an epidural) it masks the pain from your spd so u are more likely to open ur legs too far and do lasting damage. Part of the reason I had no pain relief with ds at all.
