hi all, hope your looking forward to the weekend. I've got a big family gathering for a christening. Will be the first time I've seen most of them since I've been pregnant so looking forward to lots of bump stroking and comments about how big/small I'm looking.

I had my midwife appointment this morning, she's really lovely. Took lots of time to answer the questions I had about my new symptoms of snoring and lack of energy. As well as explaining why I dont need the Glucose test and whether I'm likely to be able to have a water birth. Didn't realise I was stresssing but much happier now

I'm off to pick my bargain eBay crib up and getting bad omens about it. I've had a very stressful journey so far and I'm only halfway there. Involved getting stuck in traffic, missing my connecting bus and back up train. Now I'm on suddenly created plan c that involved me running for a bus when I'm currently getting out of breath going up stairs. What else can go wrong?
gils sounds like a lovely weekend for you. DP is away tonight and all day tomorrow so I'm planning on a good sleep and then a massive clear out. DP has the makings of a hoarder so I'm going to clear out some of his old clothes and make him some boxes to go through. I love big clear outs, I feel very light and unburdened afterwards.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/08/2012 18:11

That's rubbish MyDaydream hopefully the lovely crib will make up for the hassle.

Have a lovely weekend gils glad you are happy with your midwife. My midwife is a hospital midwife and all of the ones there are lovely.

Chest/rib pain is really getting to me now, it always starts about 3pm (because bump gets bigger throughout the day?) I just don't remember it from last time and definitely not this early Sad

kate2boysandabump · 31/08/2012 21:09

Hello all Smile

Mydaydream It will all be worth it when you get your crib. I drove up and down the same road 5 times trying to collect the mobile. I had the ds's looking for house numbers.

Pidj I'd second using disposable in hospital and switching to reusables at home. Meconium is, from memory, roughly the consistency of tar. I'm so looking forward to cleaning that off my beautiful new baby Grin

Ispy Good news about your home birth.

Gils we're having a lunch for my mom's 65th tomorrow, so we're seeing lots of family and friends too Smile

I've popped out one of the joints in my pelvis Sad After being so careful and taking care of my back I dragged something really heavy on Thursday night and it just went. I had to yell for dh to come and help as I couldn't even straighten up. I am so Angry with myself for doing something so silly. It's a bit easier today and dh and the ds's have been doing all the fetching and carrying, but it's not right and I feel really silly for having been an idiot.

Secondsop · 31/08/2012 21:15

kate I've done something to the left side of my pelvis too. Feels like the joints are rubbing/clicking, and somehow manages to be aggravated by sitting AND walking. Will ask the midwife on Monday because sometimes it's pretty painful.

ISpyPlumPie · 31/08/2012 21:16

Spotty - definitely planning to have a pool. They only have one pool at our local hospital, so having a hb should massively up the odds of getting to use one. Was looking into hiring, but found out I can loan one from the community midwives. It just costs £20 for the liner and you don't even need to pay that if you end up not using it at all.

MyDaydream - hope you sorted the crib.

With maternity pads, I'd say take two packs with you to start with. I found that I got through them very quickly for the first few days but it did start to tail off and I was just using normal sanitary towels when the mw did her last visit (bizarre detail to recall I know, I just remember her asking me about blood loss as one of the standard questions when deciding if they could discharge you from their care).

MyDaydream · 31/08/2012 21:17

Crib set is lovely, although we have nowhere to put anything at the minute! Although moses basket is big enough for the pile of stuff I had to move off the dining room table to serve dinner! Were buying a new moses basket mattress because the basket has been used, but the crib mattress is unused would you still buy a new one for it just because it's technically second hand?
I'm not quite ready for the sobbing sofa, do we have a feeling a bit sad chair? Me and DP had an argument in front of my parents who had picked up the crib for us, I ended up stood in the kitchen being comforted by my mum while my step dad stayed out of it. Now he's gone out as planned, but when he left basically told me he's not going to be back until Sunday, and he doesn't know when, which means really late on at night, or he'll change his mind and I won't see him until Monday after work. I think I need to go buy some ice cream!

Barbeasty · 31/08/2012 21:48

Oh, daydream, go and get ice cream.

Well, I won't be having a section (unless my placenta doesn't move). The consultant sees no need, so I can go for the MLU instead. Much more local, free parking and both delivery rooms have a pool. Glad I've booked the NCT classes now though.

I got to hear the heartbeat again, and the midwife said the baby feels just the right size for dates.

I'm out all day tomorrow for my soon to be SIL's hen do.

Bellaboo123 · 31/08/2012 21:53

daydream crack open the ice cream! Keep your chin up.

Had midwife appointment today all normal. Measuring spot on for 25 weeks which is great.

Shit day at work...I'm now officially on countdown to maternity leave!

Hope everyone is well...yay it's the weekend Grin

Bubbless · 31/08/2012 22:10

spotty my bump grows through out the day, i think (literally, no factual evidence found / researched!) that maybe when they are asleep (mostly when we are?) that they curl up more, then through-out the day stretch out the more they move?

bella your so lucky, i havent been at work for 5 months due to hyperemesis then the summer hols, so im due back on tues and dreading it and im not taking my maternity leave until 38 weeks cries

my DP has suddenly developed what can only be described as 'discharge' forming under his forskin, and i dont know if this is related to the fact we havent had sex in months? whoops or an actual problem.. he wont go to the doctors ¬¬

Bellaboo123 · 31/08/2012 22:32

bubbles I'm not going on maternity to :8 weeks either but after a poo day I'm now on countdown.
Good luck for Tuesday that must be hard going back.

Bellaboo123 · 31/08/2012 22:32

38 weeks!

Bubbless · 31/08/2012 22:43

ouch, okay, i now feel sorry for you! not so lucky!
hopefully tomorrow will be a better day bella :)

FriendofDorothy · 31/08/2012 22:58

I am probably not going on maternity leave until 38 weeks either. I wish I could go earlier and take longer off but it just isn't going to be possible.

I had my 24 week check with my GP today. Heard a heartbeat again which was lovely and strong and the GP said he was wiggling about which eased my mind even though I don't feel him much.

EggsMichelle · 01/09/2012 06:57

Spotty i get back ache about 3pm, but i have been putting it down to the chair at work. It's a good excuse to go home early!!!

8 weeks left and I finish work, cant wait! Sadly my DH starts his last placement next week which means he will be staying at my parents a couple of nights a week all the way until due date, I will have to try to walk the defiant dog on my own!

Did a little tidy up of the house yesterday and have found a good place to keep the pushchair. Starting to discover my little two bed is a lot more spacious than I thought, deceptive little house (Yay for low price mining towns!!!)

SpottyTeacakes · 01/09/2012 07:30

I only have nine weeks left, I'm finishing super early but I can't wait as I hate my boss.

Well the pain has only been on the two days I work so it could well be how I'm sitting, when I lay down it goes away.

I've got a headache this morning but dp has munched all the paracetamol as usual Angry

Mummycox · 01/09/2012 08:01

spotty rib pain gets bad with me post lunch too, according to Mw and gp when your stomach expands through the day baby has less room to stretch hence sticky out bits under ribs. I don't want to manoeuvre him into a more pleasant position, but!

Two days till we are off for a long awaited Babymoon. Cannot wait.

Not finishing until 38 weeks either, as would quite like to have more time with lo. Feel for all you teachers though.

Ttfn

SpottyTeacakes · 01/09/2012 08:11

Oh have a lovely babymoon MummyCox! I'm not looking forward to the decreasing lung room, I remember with dd how horrible it is not being able to take deep breathes so I'm making the most of it now!

Bidding on the baby carrier I want on eBay, wish me luck!

utopian99 · 01/09/2012 11:19

gils I'm also off to a christening (well, naming ceremony, as not a Christian service..) DH is keen to have one for the Crumb when born, as he's so excited about us becoming a family, although without the religious reasons I wonder if people would think a naming is a bit self indulgent of us?

Good luck on your bidding spotty - i am eyeballing the perfect pram (purple stokke v3) on ebay. Have been given upper limit by DH to go to, argh!

Got up at 4am to take DH to the airport as he was otherwise planning to sleep on the floor, (which is all well and good on your gap year but a bit much these days), came home and couldn't sleep so have almost finished painting Crumb's room and have rewarded myself with two pain aux raisins in one go so now feeling a bit guilty.. Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 01/09/2012 11:32

I won the carrier Grin

That's two of your five a day Utopian Wink

MyDaydream · 01/09/2012 12:34

I think it's 6 weeks left before I can start claiming MA, I can't wait to just have a little bit of cash coming in again. I've booked my theory test for next week, so I'm hoping to pass my test before I'm too big to fit behind the wheel so money would be useful so I can spend at least the first week of car ownership driving around frivolously showing off my new skills!
Spotty congratulations on your carrier! I love an ebay win, my crib was buy it now, I didn't get the same sense of pride. I also tried to put it up last night, failed because there are no instructions and I don't know where all the bloody weird looking screws are supposed to go!
utopian good look on the Stokke.
DP is at least talking to me again civilly now although I spent all last night worried he was leaving me because he wouldn't give me a straight answer when I asked when he was coming home. I'm exhausted and I just want him to come home tonight, going to his friends younger sisters birthday party that until yesterday he couldn't be bothered with seems like an excuse to keep avoiding me.
Although if he does that at least I get to avoid Sunday with the in laws which I'm really not in the mood for. Hopefully he'll come back with the money for the crib, which rather than put back into my bank I'm going to put back into eBay!

EggsMichelle · 01/09/2012 13:48

daydream I don't think I could handle being left in the lurch like he has done to you, I would turn into a very big raging dragon and change the locks (my temper will get me in trouble one of these days).

We are planning a Naming Ceremony, we are both quite anti religion but also think a welcoming to the family celebration would be good and the rest of the family love the idea.

MyDaydream · 01/09/2012 14:29

eggs usually I am the big angry dragon, I just feel a bit pathetic today! My mum is taking me out for dinner and I'm sleeping there tonight. Puts the ball back in my court since he never takes keys with him, he can't come home until I'm ready.

EggsMichelle · 01/09/2012 14:43

Ah that's better than changing the locks cause that's proper passive aggressive!

MyDaydream · 01/09/2012 15:09

And since we rent against our tenancy agreement!
