Crumbs loads to catch up on.
pidj hope everything goes ok but being monitored so well I'm sure it will
laura I've had twingy pains like that too and I didn't remember it, but then i don't know how much I really did remember think I erased pregnancy from my memory as I said never again after the last one
I'm with you spotty my house is tiny and I don't even live near London, squeezing us all into a small 2 bed terrace house is going to be fun Hmm can't even fit a full size cot in DD1s room

Welcome newbies .. My memory's capacity has been used up and forgotten everything else!
Oh and you sound very organised bubbless, in fact my super OCD organisation I think i've got pretty much everything too. Saving maternity bag for maternity leave otherwise I'll spend even more while off and wondering around shops.

Ps appetite is stepping up another notch .. Can't wait to see how many more pounds I pile on by next week .. NOT.. Confused

Cookiesandcream06 · 30/08/2012 21:34

emily this is quite a common occurrence for me! Sadly. You don't need loads for your bag, otherwise it takes up loads of room. But maternity pads (no no to sanitary towels), knickers (i got two packa of BLACK cheap primark ones last time) and a few nighties (I did ruin a couple, thank god I got some ultra cheap ones I never wanted to see again!)

CODwidow · 30/08/2012 21:54

I've decided to leave my bag until October and then I will hopefully go out once all ds's will be at school and stock up on the bits I need and then nov is feeding bras and a few tops for breastfeeding. With Xmas so close I'm trying to stay organised with the spending. Only thing I will say is that I went through more vests than I'd planned for with my first (leaky nappies) so I've always packed a few extras of those since.

PurplePidjin · 30/08/2012 22:02

After getting very pissy at the price of coloured muslins, I have bought from ebay a pack of cheap white muslins and some bright blue dye... if all goes well i'll either have nicely coloured muslins or even more exciting tie dye muslins!!!

Tesco's have baby hooded towels for £3, bargain!

ISpyPlumPie · 30/08/2012 22:50

Well, mw appt was fine - everything is normal and she's going to fill in the form for a home birth Grin. Obviously, lots can still change and it won't get officially 'signed off' until 37 weeks but it does feel like an exciting step.

Will still need to pack a bag though in case I change my mind/need to transfer in. Also will need quite a bit of the same stuff anyway. Based on last time, would definitely agree with primark big knickers and loads of maternity pads. I realised pretty rapidily after the birth last time that I wasn't going to have nearly enough with me so rang DM and asked her to get some more, on the basis DH had had enough trauma for one day without having to ask any awkward questions in Boots (was also risk he'd come back with panty liners Grin)

SpottyTeacakes · 31/08/2012 06:39

Eggs I got some really nice blue muslins from Asda. It's a three pack and was £3.50 I thought they could brighten up my white ones Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 31/08/2012 06:40

Also ISpy that's really exciting for you must seem very real now! Are you going to hire a pool?

emilyeggs · 31/08/2012 07:53

ispy how exciting!

Ok I know I look pregnant now as when I got on the tube this morning two people couldn't get up quick enough (there are still a few out there that will) and I didn't even have my baby on board badge on Smile

Barbeasty · 31/08/2012 09:29

If you're worried about packing enough for more than 1 night, maybe pack a 2nd bag to last a few more days which you can either leave in the car or at home to be brought later.

Poor DH was lugging my bag all over the place last time (I was transfered, and he didn't realise one was for later), and I'd packed planning to stay in for up to 5 days! I only packed for that long as our MLU encourages you to stay up to that time to ensure breast feeding is established.

Pidj- you're brave. I used disposables in hospital then moved to reusables once we got home. Mainly because I wasn't sure DH would want to take a load home each evening and bring them back in the morning. Also the 1st poo is pretty horrid, so it might be worth waiting a day or 2 for things to settle down iyswim.

I've got my consultant appointment later, so should have some idea of whether I'm getting a c section. No idea what will actually happen or be discussed so could be interesting. Especially because I'm not ^that^ bothered if I don't get one, but I think DH is. But he isn't coming as he has to work.

It is nice to be working from home this morning though. Saved me from too early a start after going to a friend's wedding yesterday. Had a lovely day, and we had to come back earlyish to collect DD, but still tired now.

giraffe213 · 31/08/2012 09:35

Those who have said you needed more maternity pads than you realised, how many exactly would you recommend taking to hospital? And how many packs waiting at home? (do I really want to know?) Blush

Also, cookies, you said not sanitary towels - I read on another thread that 'overnight' sanitary towels are a good alternative to maternity pads and better/nicer to use, would you disagree with that?

WillYouDoTheFandango · 31/08/2012 09:40

Oh god you're all terrifying me with your hospital bag talk. So instead I'm off to York for my last guilt-free hen do. Get to watch lots of ladies drinking Wine while I look on like this Envy

Will catch up on Sunday probably on the next thread knowing you lot Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 31/08/2012 09:51

I took two packs of maternity pads in but mainly used the hospital ones. I didn't many though as I lost so much blood straight after I only had light lochia. They say no to sanitary towels because they absorb differently and can disguise infection, give it a few weeks before you use them.

I also got some little bags, like nappy sacks, for them as they don't have individual wrappers to dispose in like sanitary towels.

Clarella · 31/08/2012 11:53

Morning all. This is my current maternity bag list, created in my phone notes last night:

-70% chocolate x 2
-Darjeeling/Redbush teabags
-Glasses/contacts/eyedrops
-Vaseline

-Copied and pasted exerpts from all the above discussions for me to go through with a fine tooth comb at a later more panicked organised date :). 'Pate' and 'bubbly' currently highlighted.

Bubbless · 31/08/2012 12:03

yeah, hoping to get the hospital bag sorted soonish but i know il keep repacking it etc spotty!

how big are we talking with these primark pants?im normally a 12-14... but i have no idea how big il need after birth to be comfi?!
surely if they are too too big then the pads will just flap about..?

my friend with 3 dc has said that incontinence pads are amazing instead of the maternity ones because they are designed to be a- worn for long periods of time so are comfi b- are meant to absorb lots of liquid very quickly (assuming it can be a bit like a period, sometimes you stand up and a load rushed out? tmi, sorry!) and c- are 'descrete', although im not sure thats my no 1 worry!

on hold to the council at the moment, bloody people ¬¬

SpottyTeacakes · 31/08/2012 12:05

Yep it pools when you lay down and can all rush out.

With regard to pants I got primark 12-14 because I find them small in the size anyway. I'm normally an 8-10.

Clarella · 31/08/2012 12:08

Loooverly!

SpottyTeacakes · 31/08/2012 12:15

Grin I'm going to get some sort of cycling shorts to wear over my pants/under my pjs for extra security

Bubbless · 31/08/2012 12:23

ahhh that sounds good spotty i might get some little hot pant pj things to hold it all in place under my pjs :)

SpottyTeacakes · 31/08/2012 12:36

Tommee Tippee microwave steriliser is only £13 on amazon at the moment

Bubbless · 31/08/2012 12:59

ohh have you got a link spotty?
do you have to use tommy tippee bottles in it or can you put any in?

SpottyTeacakes · 31/08/2012 13:01

No link on iPhone. Yeah it's the closer to nature bottles Smile I may have just spent £50 Shock I bloody love amazon

MyDaydream · 31/08/2012 13:40

Clarella your list resembles mine. I have good quality seedy raspberry jam on my list so I can have jam on toast after the birth!
I decided to be all organised (at 2am this morning when I couldn't sleep) and wish I hadn't after I've worked out the cost! Although I did it worst case scenario prices so I can only be surprised. There are always signs around my town for baby nearly new sales and there haven't been any since I've got to the buying stage. They were pretty much once a month before that!
I also found these last night, which I think are just so cute.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 31/08/2012 14:16

My friend just visited with her 5 week old (not so small, 9lb 6 born Shock) baby girl! She is beautiful and I may have fallen slightly in love. Although tadpole took offence when I was feeding her and started booting her up the bum Grin

Thankful she's offering to donate her newborn (unworn, neutral) clothes to us so I may not need to do more shopping after all!

I hope everyone is ok today. I'm quite down as have an infestation of flies (big fat ones) and have no idea where theyre coming from Sad

PrunellaDeVille · 31/08/2012 14:27

back in April i knew sooo many pregnant women (10+) but as of yesterday all of them have had their babies and suddenly i don't know anyone who's due before me - front of the queue, i'm next amongst my acquaintances, it's rather daunting.
with that and all the talk of necessary stuff/lists i'm starting to panic Confused
