It'll be colostrum honey it's more yellow and you'll only get a few drops at a time but it's so rich, and baby's tummy is so tiny, it's all they need

HoneyMum21 · 30/08/2012 09:33

Thanks :)

emilyeggs · 30/08/2012 09:51

JoJoB77 · 30/08/2012 09:51

Morning all Smile

We are finally back after a week in cyprus. Had a lovely time but crikey it was so hot, too hot really with a very active 17 month old & a bump. Shouldnt complain really Smile

Welcome to all the new ladies, sorry to be impersonal but on my phone & i have brain like sieve.

pidj wow about feeling the hb but sorry you're having to go through extra monitoring.

All is good here, was 24 weeks in monday & have midwife coming to the house a week tomoro for check. Baby is moving lots more too.

Cant believe there is only 16 weeks to go!

Clarella · 30/08/2012 11:07

13 for me Shock la la la la my lists still say things like turf and GET THE HOUSE TO WORK

misunderstood the delivery thing for washing machine and it's coming on Sunday not today, plumber's gone awol anyway so another day of hand washing, washing up and also now washing paint brushes all in the bath. good job I can lower my anti grime/germ tolerance for short periods. Though 5 months is pushing it now. I hate bloody jeans why can't men wear leggings? And the bugger keeps wearing work clothes for mucky things. (I refuse to give the laundrette any more money when clothes sometimes appear to have never been near a molecule of soap but plenty of fag smoke)

I've been very appreciative of a actually having a house but dust, grot, peeled 70's pannelling releasing odd smells, lead paint and more grot is beginning to push me over the edge. At least the layers hid what lay beneath! The idea of a plumbed house was keeping me going yesterday! Sorry rant over.

Love my architect husband but ban your daughters in 21 years

Clarella · 30/08/2012 11:09

And I hate effing microwaves

HoneyMum21 · 30/08/2012 11:19

Oh dear Clarella - sounds horrific but focus on the washing machine you'll have in a few days and the lovely house you're going to have when all is finished.

And I'm with you on the microwaves. I grew up with an aga so we never had a microwave and I don't know how to use them, they confuse the hell out of me.

PrunellaDeVille · 30/08/2012 11:24

clarella i think i should be paying attention to your increasing house frustrations - we're just looking at buying a wreck - if we get it it'll be end sept - i'm wondering if it's really such a good idea!
and also hiding my head in the sand at the fact i've 14 weeks to go and have nothing except a handful of sleepsuits

welcome seconds and italian

Italianbride · 30/08/2012 11:28

You all sound so organised! I've bought nothing so far and haven't even started to think about what we might need. We're off on holiday for 2 weeks from Sunday and once I get back it seems like I really should knuckle down to some serious list making!!

lauraloo09 · 30/08/2012 11:36

my goodness forget to log on for the day and ive missed so much!!

pidj sounds like they will be taking great care of you...lovely you can feel the heartbeat :)

God i remember my hospital bag, think i took everything but the kitchen sink lol i had a bag for baby and a bag for me. Lucky enoough i was in hospital for 4 days so was good i took so much. i recommend the disposable pants found them great esp as they came up over my c-section scar.

Im down for trying a VBAC but with the way things have been going with my pelvic pain etc think I will opt for a section when i see the consultant at 34 weeks. just wondering anyone else having cramps and every so often i have very heavy flutters 'down there' really cant remember thi happening the last time xx

Clarella · 30/08/2012 11:59

Yes it WILL be lovely and it WILL be done before baby comes! (though now I know why DH doesn't like me saying baby could be born at 37 weeks and considered full term) thanks honey!

Ah prune don't let me put you off, its generally fine, if you are a coping camper its ok. I sometimes hate having 'men' in the house which has been bad when I've been struggling mentally. it was new levels of grot this morning. I just want towels that don't smell. I've never had a dish washer or microwave before and often like to wash stuff by hand, wool etc even if machine washable. 2 Garden bendy plastic trugs are all you need and rubber gloves. and a slow cooker. It was hard when no hot water but the shower was quite a good way to wash up! I think just assess what works, what needs doing etc. Somethings actually don't take long eg a new bathroom and if you plan it carefully and do a room at a time its ok. I don't mind bare floorboards and baby won't be agile for a while. Also, I keep reminding myself that baby can be in with us for a few months so not worrying about a nursery. Must admit money is a worry but we've saved for literally donkeys years and lived here for 3, it will just be very tight come Xmas as I'm by far the main wage earner. Everything always costs at least 25 to 30 % more ime with renovations but if you budget for that its ok.

A friend moved into a total wreck 3 days after her first was born, it was a tricky birth and there were worries about lack of oxygen. I don't know how they got through but they did and now have 3 dcs, first child seems fine and house is ....getting there! But its big and a home for life when done.

Clarella · 30/08/2012 12:01

Sorry, missed you Italian, welcome!

And really grot and smelly towels are not a real worry. Reality check. There's much worse in the world! I just got the rage for a bit.

annelid · 30/08/2012 12:23

Welcome seconds and italian!

I am waiting til my children go back to school next week, then I can really start with getting baby stuff ready/sorted. I have a pushchair, and my mum has bought me a few little bits, but other than that nothing!

We have a few bits of decorating that need doing in the house, and some catching up to do on general house organising, so September will be busy I think.

utopian99 · 30/08/2012 16:08

clarella feel your pain - only finished our building works two weeks ago, was going loopy washing everything in the bath and no real cooked veg. Sadly both of us are architects but i second your sentiment - if the Crumb wants to be one when he grows up I will laugh, hollowly at him.

welcome seconds and Italian!

Have just found out a proper friend is pregnant (after my rant last week about friend's ultra-competitive wife) so now I have a real life buddy who is up-knocked too, which is nice and v happy for them too. (although have no intention of leaving this thread as I've LEARNT so much from you lot! And you let me rant.)

Am planning to tackle painting the nursery tomorrow; we're not going for a theme as such but saw an art exhibition months ago where they had laser-cut butterflies growing from the walls, and dh has a laser at work, so i need to draw some. Otherwise going for bright yellow & stone white and thinking black furniture which probably sounds terrifying but seen pictures online that look quite smart..

Off to hopefully collect car seat this aft, and bought a bouncer the other day. That and a t shirt which he clearly won't fit for a year and a half are our only purchases to date!

MyDaydream · 30/08/2012 16:53

knotty that's loads of time to get stuff done, I'm thinking in steps at the minute, so 2 weeks to clear out stuff and pack and 2 further weeks to move this house to the new house, then it's 8 weeks from the move until my baby deadline for decorating and buying then hopefully I'll have 4 weeks to just keep on top of the house and relax.
Honey I always look at hospital bag threads and think they're taking more than I take on holiday with me! We're not far from the hospital so DP can always run home for anything I forget.
Clarella sounds a mess but you'll have such a lovely home when you've finished. My mum had friends who did a huge renovation and I always dreamed about moving into their house.

kate2boysandabump · 30/08/2012 17:03

italian welcome Smile

Clarella Poor you, just think though a washing machine soon and there's still 13 weeks to go. A lot can happen in that time.

annelid I am taking your approach, I'm leaving organising until the boys are back at school and I can see the house without its current layer of lego. The bunk beds are being delivered a week today, so as soon as they're built, we can begin the process of moving ds2 out and putting baby stuff into the nursery. I have got some curtains, which is a start.

Spottys list for a hospital bag is about right, you probably won't need anything other then that. I took loads of stuff when I was having ds1 and didn't use half of it.

Soooooo tired today. I went out last night to plan activities for the Beavers this term and then I had really painful trapped wind when I got home, so couldn't get off to sleep for ages. I went round to my mom's for her birthday today and fell asleep on the sofa Blush

FriendofDorothy · 30/08/2012 17:04

We are buying a bit of a wreck. All being well we should complete on Tuesday. I just hope we get in before baby makes an appearance!

Bubbless · 30/08/2012 17:30

im terrified about the hospital bag thing, firstly- what do you put it in?! would it be overboard to take one of those mini suitcases on wheels? might make life so much easier!!

also we have bought;

carseat +isofix
muslins
moses basket
moses basket stand
push chair
carrycot
1 grow bag
1 blanket
14 vests
7 sleepsuits
1 coat
1 hat
1 bib
3 boxes (of 81odd) nappies
4 packs of wipes
2 packs of nappy sacks
and 1 pack of scratch mits!

somehow we have bought a lot! which is good... althouhg worrying about the hospotal bag now!

SpottyTeacakes · 30/08/2012 17:47

Bubbless all going well you will only be in hospital over night, you really don't need that much and your dp can go and get you anything you forget, he will probably be glad of the excuse to go home and have a kip/shower/cry(!) etc and the baby only needs a couple of grows, blanket, nappies and cotton wool.

Jealous of all you lot buying houses

My chest is hurting today, feels a bit squished!

PurplePidjin · 30/08/2012 18:50

My mum is under strict instructions to bring me brand new fluffy pyjamas on her way in to the hospital for her first visit also pate and bubbly :)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 30/08/2012 19:20

Pidj just be mindful the new pjs may well get ruined I learnt that the first time Sad

Am having problems finding a thin dressing gown so may well give up on that idea. I didn't have one with the others and ds was out within 3 hrs of being in hospital so I doubt I'll miss it tbh. Got big pants and cheap pjs from primark for after.

Just pulled all the clothes out and have very little newborn so my shopping is apparantly not as finished as I thought! Lol best laid plans and all that!

PurplePidjin · 30/08/2012 20:05

Only Primark ones!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 30/08/2012 21:04

Fair enough Grin

emilyeggs · 30/08/2012 21:17

OH GOG!! Blush I sneezed today and a tiny bit of wee came out Sad

emilyeggs · 30/08/2012 21:18

Maybe we should do a hospital bag list as I have absolutely no idea what to take Confused
