Sorry it hasn't improved pidj

MyDaydream are you going to go for a full on matching nursery?

PurplePidjin · 29/08/2012 19:38

Yep, weekly heartbeat and urine plus consultant referral to ask questions. I'm strongly recommended a hospital birth and, as my policy is to only take up a bed if the hcp thinks you need one, i will be following their advice!

MyDaydream · 29/08/2012 19:53

pidj sounds like your going to be well looked after.
spotty we're wanting a jungle theme but I'm thinking different greens/Browne with the soft furnishings having animals. When I google jungle theme there's some very impressive rooms but way beyond our abilities/budget.

MyDaydream · 29/08/2012 19:53

*browns

SpottyTeacakes · 29/08/2012 19:56

Baby's R Us used to do a jungle theme never paid much attention though so not sure what it's like!

pidj I hope you get all the answers you need from your consultant

ellliebelle · 29/08/2012 20:09

Hi all and welcome newbies. Just checking in been really busy with work and wacked by the time I sit down in the evening - been reading through the posts though.!

Oooh impressed re the hospital bag - any suggestions on whats needed?

We got the nursery ready over the BH (still can't get used to saying that) so it's all coming together.

Midwife appt on Friday!

EggsMichelle · 29/08/2012 20:21

Pidj It's good that they have such close monitoring on you, its best to be prepared.

My pushchair and car seat have arrived!!!! It's amazing and have been playing with is all evening, so many exciting bits and piece to explore, and it came with the rain cover (thought I would have to order that separately). Little bit baffled by the adjustable head rest on the car seat, but I'll leave that to DH to tackle.

PurplePidjin · 29/08/2012 20:25

My mum will be sewing for the nursery, I chose a pale blue flannelette and she's got matching gingham. There's also a matching blue with cartoon sheep, but not sure if I want that or not...

Monkeys not a good idea for a half Jamaican baby Wink

Bubbless · 29/08/2012 20:46

kate i can only breast stroke..however, i think ive inadvertantly made myself out to be a 'swimmer', we went swimming twice...last time i did before that wasabout 5 years ago! aha. will try using a board :)

ellie how exciting!

also, our landlady has just said that we can paint the spare room, so we are thinking yellow?

welcome italian!

i made chocolate brownies today and they were so good we ate them for dinner we had a few too many!

PurplePidjin · 29/08/2012 20:59

Fuck feeling kicks, we can feel the heart beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right down by my pubic bone is a little chuggachugga feeling :o:o:o:o:o

FriendofDorothy · 29/08/2012 21:10

I have actually been shopping. Because we are getting so much stuff of my sister we really don't have to buy much. However, we have been on the mainland this week so have been to Tescos and TK Maxx and bought some clothes and today I bought a fab changing bag. Hurray :)

Still slightly worried that I can't feel distinct movement other than a weird turning sensation. I have a GP appointment on Friday to hear heartbeat etc though so I am hoping everything is ok.

Secondsop · 29/08/2012 21:23

friendofdorothy could it be your placenta location cushioning the movements? My placenta is low-lying which I suspect is why I can feel a fair amount of movement despite having plenty of "tummy padding" in between me and the baby.

The rest of you, i am impressed at your preparedness in terms of shopping etc. I haven't bought a thing yet; I have some knitted clothes that people have made for the baby but that's it. I really need to get my act together.

On another note, what's this pain in my left pelvic bone area? Seems to be aggravated by both sitting AND walking, somehow.

ISpyPlumPie · 29/08/2012 21:40

Welcome Second and Italian!

Spotty -keeping my fingers crossed for the 11th for you.

Pidg - sorry to hear what you're going through. As others have said, sounds like they're keeping a really good eye on things though.

Not much news here - quite a quiet and relaxing bh weekend (not that I'm complaining Grin). Seeing the mw tomorrow so will hopefully find out if bump is 'enormous' or 'tiny' (was told it was both in the space of an hour last week) or just plain average!

mwahmwah · 29/08/2012 21:41

I've bought nowt either seconds, I really must pull out the previous 2 dc's baby stuff but I really can't be bothered with all that sorting. It's all just sooo much effort. Humff Blush

acjfluff · 29/08/2012 22:31

Good to hear about all the shopping but glad I'm not the only one who hasn't really started.

Pidj really sorry you didn't have better news after your appointment today but wow and Envy about feeling the heartbeat!!

Day one of the move has gone ok. Day two includes the removal men bringing our furniture from storage. After a mammoth clean at the new place I'm at my mum's being looked after until the new house is sorted Smile

In other news, I tried shaving my legs in the bath instead of the shower... It was not successful. I had no idea how much my bump restricts my leg shaving ability!

MyDaydream · 30/08/2012 01:56

ellie that's the kind of stuff I'm looking at for the walls.

Eggs very jealous of the pushchair, mine isn't coming until November, it's my deadline for getting everything ready I want the pram to be the signal for it all to be finished.
I'm really struggling with my sleep, with baby having his most active period on a night time and not being able to get comfy in bed because there's not enough room for me, DP and my Dream Genii. I just lay awake getting more and more annoyed at DP, who is obviously mocking me in his ability to sleep by snoring. He's also the bed hog in our relationship and takes more and more territory every time I go to the loo! I just want to sleep!

knottyhair · 30/08/2012 06:34

Wow, haven't been on for a few days and so much to read! Pidj, amazing that you can feel the hb, but sorry about what you're going through. Spotty, sending positive vibes for 11th.
Our pushchair is due to arrive around 25th, a friend is dropping off stairgates and a car seat on Tuesday, my other friend has given us her Moses basket & stand (need to get a new mattress), my niece has given me loads of baby clothes which I've anally sorted out into type of item/age must get a life. Also bought some bottles (half price in the sale), swaddling blanket, baby carrier/bottle warmer/steriliser all on Ebay. May need to stop now for a bit as we still have 2 rooms out of use here until DP gets to lay the new floor in a couple of weeks. Keep thinking I've got 16 weeks to go until ELCS so that's plenty of time, right? Only got to plan Halloween party for DS, clear out & paint Rosa's room, buy & wrap Christmas presents, batch cook for the freezer for after Rosa arrives, start doing Davina pregnancy DVD, move all DS's lego into his room, pick up highchair/changing table/cot/travel cot/bouncy chair from various friends but IT'LL BE FINE!!!!

SpottyTeacakes · 30/08/2012 06:42

Oh knotty you've just reminded me of all the things I need to do!!!

knottyhair · 30/08/2012 06:44

Sorry Spotty Grin!

SpottyTeacakes · 30/08/2012 07:29

I really need to write a proper list. I think I've persuaded dp we can get sky as they are doing a £100 m&s voucher at the moment. We only get eight freeview channels where we live and if we get their broadband and phone too it'll only be £14 a month more than what we're paying BT now. So that would help with Christmas and the super cute dinosaur baby grows I've seen Grin

Also need to do my batch cooking list think that can wait until November though

HoneyMum21 · 30/08/2012 09:15

Agghh, just been looking at the hospital bag thread and am totally freaked out. Surely we can't need all that stuff?

knottyhair · 30/08/2012 09:19

Honey, not sure what it says on there, but I think I took nappies, cotton wool, outfit for DS to come home in, couple of extra babygros for him, plus big pants, big sanitary towels, spare nightie, Haribo sweets, water, a couple of magazines and some CDs for labour (it was 9 years ago!). Don't think I had anything else probably forgotten something very obvious.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/08/2012 09:23

For me I took:

Pillow
Flannel
Towels
Anti bac toilet wipes
Moist toilet tissue
Lots knickers
Track suit bottoms/nightwear
Maternity pads
Breast pads (don't need many as milk doesn't come in straightaway)
Lip balm is a must for labour
Think that's it, dp bought any thing else like snacks and I'm not allowed lucozade or anything like that

HoneyMum21 · 30/08/2012 09:28

This is a really stupid question, but of milk doesn't come in for 3 days or so what does baby eat till then? Will he still try and latch on during skin to skin and just not get anything? What about if I'm ahem already leaking a bit, does that mean it'll come in sooner? Sorry, I'm having my panic about how little I know about all of this and MIL is still terrifying me with horrendous stories and how horrible things will be after the birth so I want to be clued up and ready to prove her wrong
