I'm sure it'll be fine pidj I hate those monitors they're so uncomfortable. Take some munch with you and get the midwives to make you a cup of tea Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 29/08/2012 09:23

I just got a text message Shock offering us an appointment for dd on 11th September, so I can guess the results. Time to get dd onto the books with the Prof in Southampton I suppose

2blessed · 29/08/2012 10:07

Hi All,

Feel like I've missed so much! Hope everyone had a great bank holiday.
spotty fingers crossed for your DD, we're all thinking of you.

Yesterday I received my antenatal workshop timetable. My labour workshop is 6 hours! That feels like a long time in one session. Does anyone else have the same? Probably means that DP won't be able to attend as he's able to take the odd couple of hours off for scans but no way will he be able to take pretty much a whole day off.

Secondsop · 29/08/2012 10:39

Hello, I'm new to the thread. I'm expecting a boy in mid-December but may have a Caesarian a bit earlier if my low-lying placenta doesn't grow out of the way. First baby, after a miscarriage in October.

Am at the "physical discomfort" stage, where I'm really struggling to eat much, but the baby has settled into a pattern of movement (he moves when I wake up, and then seems to sleep till about 4pm, then has another nap later in the evening before a period of activity just as I'm trying to sleep!).

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/08/2012 10:54

pidj I hope all goes ok today, try not to worry, at least you are being monitored. Huge unmumsnetty hugs!

Welcome secondsop and congratulations!

No pattern of baby moving but he/she never stops!! Not that I'm complaining really but I do often feel like I am just a mobile disco venue!

EggsMichelle · 29/08/2012 11:27

Stacey my MW booked me for my GTT during my 16wk appointment (phoned them whilst I was in the room). Give your MW a call and see what they say, might have forgotten.

Pidj sounds very boring and uncomfortable, but hope it goes well. Lots of tea, cake and being waited on!

Spotty glad you got an earlier appointment, you don't want to be waiting until October.

Secondsop welcome to the club! Mine has the same sleep pattern as you I think, although he is having a good tumble right now.

I can't remember who said it, but they thought their baby was laying breach. Would it not have time to move around? It's not going to stay like that for another 3months is it? I'm pretty sure mine is up right, but I wouldn't want to me upside down for that long, all the blood would go to my brain and hurt!

kate2boysandabump · 29/08/2012 11:45

Spotty Thinking of you and your dd. Try not to speculate until you actually know. A lot easier said then done I know and at least it isn't long to wait.

secondsop welcome and congratulations Smile

Pidj definitely take a book or crocheting. Being monitored is boring!! Hope it all goes ok.

Stacey You've finished shopping Shock Wow! I've barely started and I've got to get going on Christmas too, as soon as the boys are back at school.

I've not got to have a GTT, but I have to have 2 fasting blood tests at 20 weeks and 26 weeks, because of high bmi and previous big babies. I passed the first one, I'm just hoping to pass the next one too, so I don't have the GTT. I'm not sure I could take the drink, is it that bad?

I'm off to collect a mobile today that I got off ebay. I'm just waiting for ds1 to reappear from his sleepover. It did mean that ds2 and I had some lovely cuddles in bed this morning, he's always sunny from getting up, it's fair to say ds1 is not really a morning person. Going back to school is going to be fun Hmm

ellliebelle · 29/08/2012 11:47

Those of you near the new forest where is nice and cheap and cheerful to eat with the dc's in the evening?

SpottyTeacakes · 29/08/2012 12:12

Welcome secondsop Smile

Oh dear I haven't bought anything yet really! Just a few muslins and second hand baby grows!

Thanks for all the wishes of wellness. I know dd will be ok I just feel bad because it's me that's given it to her and I know dp wishes she didn't have it so feel doubly bad.

Eugh glad I don't have to drink that syrup bet its like lactulose!

I'm getting the rage because my knickers keep falling down!!

2blessed · 29/08/2012 12:32

One of my nipples is on fire! Sorry TMI. Just doused a paper with cold water and stuck it into my bra as a short term solution

Bubbless · 29/08/2012 12:38

cookies thank you for telling me, seems we are in the same boat. i went back to my docs feeling really low, and my DP is struggling to know how to help me when im this down, and the doc told me to 'just be happy.' i sat in the car and balled my eyes out because if it was that easy then i would be doing it!! i will go back and demand ask nicley for some help!

i did the asda baby event yesterday! got 2 boxes of pampers and 1 box of huggies (because we have no idea what we will like!) and a big pack of wipes, and some nappy sacks. AND i went to matalan and bought some adorable sleep suits and a little jacket Grin can you tell it was payday!

daydream my inlaws are a bit like this, they will offer something and then you have to chase them for it, which in turn makes you feel bad! tbh? id a- tell them youve found the perfect crib + moses basket and at a reasonable price! you will email her the link.... and if no action is taken b- 'when shall we go shopping in big shopping centre / baby shop for a crib? maybe we could have coffee afterwards?'

spotty im in the size 18 clothes too! finding they are fitting me better than bloody maternity clothes!!

does anyone know where you can get the wall stickers that you can peel off again without damaging the paint? we rent and i want to do somethingggg!

welcome secondsop!! [waves]

i went swimming again yesterday and it really helped my hips, but im still in agony with them, not sure if this is a real 'thing' though?! it feels like someone is pushing my legs apart sideways when i walk and it really hurts and doesnt improve if i walk with my legs apart! also, had a really shit nights sleep last night- had braxton hicks, so painful.. i dont know how il survive labour!

massive reply! sorry!

WeeJo08 · 29/08/2012 13:09

All fine at the midwife appointment :) Bump is measuring spot on for dates (25cm) Grin, blood pressure all normal, baby?s heartbeat is good and strong (as are baby's legs, judging by the almighty kick that she gave the midwife and the Doppler during the examination!!), my wee was fine too - no glucose, protein, etc. Midwife also said that the baby was running away from the Doppler which was funny :)

I asked about our antenatal classes - we were supposed to be booked in for October but apparently we're not so she booked us in for November instead. Also mentioned my back and hips being sore so she has recommended acupuncture. Our hospital offer free acupuncture during pregnancy so I have phoned up for an appointment - hopefully I'll hear back soon otherwise I will just keep ringing and ringing! She said that if I preferred I could have physio but I said I would prefer to try the acupuncture and anyway, she then went on to say the wait for physio is about 6 weeks! Shock

Spotty Glad you guys have got an appointment and don't have to wait until October - waiting is crap :( I hope you're okay x

Welcome secondsop!

pidj Hope you're not too bored!

Sorry for mammoth reply! Blush

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/08/2012 13:14

kate I've been given 80% of the stuff so not much real shopping! Thankfully!

Starting to think of a birth plan, anyone thought about it yet?

MyDaydream · 29/08/2012 13:47

acj good luck with moving, not at all looking forward to our actual move.
Stacey sounds like you had a lovely time away. I've got the big things for my birth plan in my head but really want to talk to my midwife about it because there are probably quite important aspects I've not even thought about.
Pidj hope it's good news from the moniter, and that you didn't get too bored hooked up for so long.
Spotty fingers crossed for your DD.
Welcome seconds and congratulations! Mine is in the habit of having a wiggle and a dance when I'm trying to get to sleep. He also wiggles around after I've eaten some meals, like he's showing his appreciation to me feeding him something yummy.
Bubbless there will be no mention of going into town shopping with MIL because she'd take me up on it! I really hate shopping as a social activity with anyone but my mum, because we like the same things, have the same boredom threshold and she understands my need for 3pm cake! We've got the crib though, whether she pays for it or us I don't especially care I just hate the whole promise to do something then go back on it when the time comes

WeeJo08 · 29/08/2012 14:25

Yay! Acupuncture sessions booked and John Lewis nursery adviser appointment booked too! Grin

kate2boysandabump · 29/08/2012 14:30

Bubbless Are you doing breast stroke when you swim? If it's making your hips hurt, you probably shouldn't, it can put huge strain on your pelvis. Try doing front crawl instead, or if that's too tiring, try using a kick board and just doing front crawl kick. I stopped doing breast stroke when I found out I was pregnant and switched to front crawl It was a bit of killer to begin with, but I'm back up to my normal distance now.

weejo I had acupuncture when I was having ds2. Just make sure they use a non permanent pen or the ink tatoos you Grin

acj good luck with the move Smile

Spotty Don't feel too down, I know it's not the same and not nearly as serious, but I feel very guilty that ds2 is colour blind as I'm the carrier and if I could change it I would. He cried when I told him he couldn't be a pilot Sad As this one is a boy too, there's a 50% chance he will be as well.

Still waiting for ds1 to get home, he must be having a great time. I'm never going to get this mobile!!

ellliebelle · 29/08/2012 14:44

Bubbless we have wall stickers from next that are removeable you just heat them with a hair dryer. We used to have i love my bear ones from toys r us too and pretty sure they were also removeable.

Spotty good luck for your dd and pidj hope your monitoring went well

Sorry cant remember who was looking to convert their icandy apple to a pear but was wondering if you had got it sorted and if not if you are local to me i have justvseen someone selling the kit on a local board.

Clarella · 29/08/2012 14:48

Quick check in, definitely do front crawl or use a kickboard (I bought one cos the pool started refusing to hand them out due to the nibbling squirrels) - I sometimes find a few lengths of that actually warms your hips up enough to then manage breast stroke or just avoid from now on.

Hope you're ok spotty and all went well pidg

Welcome second!
Hope all goes well ajc!

Italianbride · 29/08/2012 16:46

Well hello Smile

Given that I am now 25 weeks and due on 15th December and the baby is kicking like mad I guess this pregnancy is acually real so I am feeling brave enough to join your group!

emilyeggs · 29/08/2012 18:24

Welcome and congrats to both second and Italian Grin

HoneyMum21 · 29/08/2012 18:34

Welcome Second and Italian :)
Spotty - i know around here they make you go in for test results whether they are good or bad so hopefully things will be ok :)
acj good luck with the move. we have just completed our move today and i kept getting shouted at for lifting boxes. Be careful! (Lovely DH did all the cleaning at the old flat as he won't let me use chemicals :D)

Lots of other people i should be replying to but my brain isn't working.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/08/2012 18:39

Welcome newbies Smile get ready for some serious chatting Wink

Bump is hurting above my hips, just uncomfortable. Made a yummy chilli for dinner though which dd ate all up!

Braxton hicks annoying me again, always when I'm trying to eat then all evening Hmm

I meant to answer people's specific posts but I've forgotten what was said already Blush stupid phone

HoneyMum21 · 29/08/2012 18:50

Just made smartie cookies :)

PurplePidjin · 29/08/2012 18:53

The good news is that it wasn't 20 minutes. The bad news is he's still ectopic, or Syncopated as i prefer to think of it!

I am completely exhausted having totally overdone things for the last few days, including prepping all the camping gear this afternoon. 3 days under canvas this weekend should be fun Hmm

MyDaydream · 29/08/2012 19:16

Welcome Italian
Spotty, Honey think you should come over here with some chilli and cookies for me, DP has had to work late and I'm starving. He'll probably be another hour.
Pidj sorry it wasn't great news for you, do you need to keep going back for monitering?
Sorted out collecting the crib and basket, so by the end of the week that'll be two more things checked off the list. Although where it's all going to go until move date I'm not quite sure! Thinking of nursery ideas now, don't really know where to start looking for inspiration though.
