utopian ohh we just spent the weekend in darkest shropshire with close friends who've just moved there with a young family - came home and got back on rightmove - we regularly check out the Ludlow property on there - it's a long standing favourite and very reasonable too. sounds like there are plans afoot to improve rail links to the area too so maybe it'd be best to get in sooner rather than later to beat the rush once more people discover it

JoJoB77 · 28/08/2012 10:46

Hello all

utopian i live very near Ludlow. Can verh much recommend it despite me being more of a city girl i love the peacefulness living in the countryside brings.

Stacks · 28/08/2012 11:29

Wow, I've been gone just over a week and we're on a new thread with 450 messages! There's no way I'll be able to catch up with everything that's happened recently - by the time I do there'll be 500 more posts :)

Hope everyone is well. I've had my 3yo nephew visiting for the last week - been very tiring, but great to see him. A bit of a look to the future really, imagining my own little boy running round. It was great to watch DH play with him too, he's going to be a great Dad.

MyDaydream · 28/08/2012 13:24

Stacks I love seeing DP with kids, he's much better than I am since he's so patient and still acts like a 5 year old himself
I've seen a really good deal on a crib and moses basket on ebay and am debating buying it since it's buy it now. MIL has said she'll buy the crib for us and keeps going on about it, but since we told her about this one no action has been taken. I don't know how she'll react if I buy it, I know my mum would either have already bought it or told me to get it and she'll pay when we collect but his mum is mad as cheese a bit OTT, I don't know if she'll turn into a wailing woman and call DP repeatedly about how she was so looking forward to buying the exact same items at a much higher price. I feel slightly worse because I've said no to so much she wanted to buy already, but I'm not doing it to be a bitch I'm doing it to save her money because most of what she wants to buy I wouldn't use, which surely anyone would appreciate.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/08/2012 16:02

Glad to read of everyone's lovely BH weekend, we are back now booo!

Went to Asda in Bournemouth (I know, I know, I really do know how to have fun, but we don't have one round here!) and got some really sweet muslins and dd some nappies. They had sold out of new baby which is typical.

Also came home to a hospital appointment for dd regarding the results of her genetic tests, bearing in mind I only went away Friday, the appointment was this morning at 9:30 Angry and no one is answering the phones....

Have done lots of walking this weekend, ankles are fat. Also the bottom of my bump feels like really bad stitch when I walk a little bit, anyone else? I always think I shouldn't be getting growing pains as I should be all baggy already Wink

Also got a few bits in Primark in size 18 Shock a hoody and jumper, thought I could chuck them on in the winter, I don't want to shell out on a coat for all on three months. Got some black knickers and dark tracksuit bottoms I can wear after and if they get ruined it doesn't matter unlike my lovely grey Topshop ones I wore and runied after dd sob

Hope no one is on the sobbing sofa today and enjoying the sunshine, sorry for mammoth post :)

FriendofDorothy · 28/08/2012 16:11

Just popping in to say hello. I have bee at a festival all weekend. Torrential rain and inches of mud. It was hard work but fun!

Hope everyone is doing ok.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/08/2012 16:11

No more appointments until the beginning of October, I'm assuming as they want us to come it it's not good news Sad

Barbeasty · 28/08/2012 16:49

Oh Spotty, I hope it isn't too bad. I suppose at least you'll know what you're dealing with etc. But do you have to wait until October? Hopefully they'll get someone cancel and see you sooner.

And yes, they seem to be crap with appointments. I've had a letter today giving me my consultants appointment- Friday morning. Luckily I haven't got anything booked at work and I can blag a lie in after my friend's wedding on Thursday

DH was always rubbish with his nieces and nephews, but he's fab with DD, and much better with her cousins now too.

WeeJo08 · 28/08/2012 17:15

Just checking in with everyone. I made brownies and a chocolatey, crunchy, peanut-y thing for anyone who needs/wants some Grin

We had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend - really chilled out...lots of nice food, chatting and planning :) We also made a start on thinking about baby stuff - I made a proper list for the first time, which definitely will need work & amendments but I think it's a good start! We also got our first baby purchase! Yay! We got a beautiful wee sleepy suit from JoJo Maman Bebé & a little fluffy bunny which is just adorable. We keep setting them both out and stroking them! It was a big step to get the first thing and I feel good about getting started. I'll put a pic of them both on my profile for anyone who would like a nosy.

We also went to see my friend who has just had her baby (two weeks ago) which was lovely and exciting. Made it all seem more real. Grin

25 week appointment with the midwife tomorrow - does anyone know what she'll be doing?

HoneyMum21 · 28/08/2012 17:15

Hi all, quick question - has anyone else had a pain in what feels like one kidney - it feels internal rather than muscular and it's been on and off all afternoon. I thought it might be little one discovering a new place to kick but it's too insistant for that i think. Anyone else had this?

MyDaydream · 28/08/2012 17:17

Spotty me and my mum went to Asda on Saturday because we don't have one in my town and I wanted to look at baby stuff! I hope everything is okay with you DD, it can't be too bad if they're happy to wait until October to see you. If it was very serious they'd probably be able to find you an appointment much sooner.
We've just heard from the estate agent, and all my stressing was for nothing since we're moving next month! I'm now looking at paint, wall stickers and furniture for what will be the nursery.

HoneyMum21 · 28/08/2012 17:24

Congrats mydaydream :)

MyDaydream · 28/08/2012 17:25

WeeJo bunny is adorable, I've been looking for babies first teddy but haven't seen anything yet. DP wants to give him his first, but I think it's nicer to have one of your very own. I like having mummy and daddies teddies looking after babies teddy, like mummy and daddy looking after baby.

Honey could it be the start of a kidney problem? Maybe something to keep an eye on and contact your GP if it continues/gets worse.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/08/2012 17:42

WeeJo we love all the JellyCat stuff! Dd's favourite at the moment is the monkey!

Honey I've had that, in my back on my right hand side. I haven't bothered going to the Consultant fortnightly anyway and they always check wee sample, if I were you though I would get it checked if it continues, could be an infection.

MyDaydream how exciting for you! You'll be very busy, will make time go very quickly!

Well the appointments lady said she is going to speak to the Dr and see if she wants us to come in outside clinic hours, or if she can squeeze us in so I'm not feeling too hopeful Sad

PurplePidjin · 28/08/2012 17:46

WeeJo - blood pressure, heart rate, and a chance to ask lots of questions! I had bloods done as I'm switching from one PCT to another (live on a county border so being fussy about what happens where!) which was lucky as i need an iron top up :)

My rainbow snake will be Baby's First, I'll pop a pic up when he's finished. He's over 3' long and I'm only half way through the indigo...

EggsMichelle · 28/08/2012 18:16

Spotty keeping optimistic for you, if it is something that needs to addressing quickly, then they will move everything to fit you in.

I have a Jellycat bunny that we are giving to Shrimpy as his first teddy, it's lovely and soft. Had planned on giving him my Disney teddies but my DM has vetoed that, apparently too valuable... oops!

I'm having a grumpy day today, think it's cause its my first day back at work and at a proper loose end, can I have some of those lovely peanut butter/ chocolate things please WeeJo, they are making my mouth water!

lauraloo09 · 28/08/2012 18:26

Evening all
spotty here's hoping they can squeeze an appointment with you before oct needing to wait that long is ridiculous

Well went to GP this morning have been signed off for 2 weeks and have been told not to be surprised if he doesn't sign me back to work at all...I do hope to get back before I finish for annual leave on 9th oct but will take it a day at a time, I will be reviewed in 2 weeks. GP also discussed going on citalopram but he is hoping with time away from work I will begin to feel better.

gilsbubbles I made tablet last night and it's delish :) I have plenty for everyone Grin have been told to watch sugar intake tho just hoping gtt goes well in 2 weeks lol

Clarella · 28/08/2012 19:41

Lauraloo, I'm glad your doc did that for you, must be a weight of your shoulders but don't be surprised if you need longer or at least have a phased return (and depart!). I'd be inclined to agree that less work pressure will help without meds but see how you go :)

Sorry about that spotty, is it possible they would schedule an appt if news was ok anyway? Hope they can squeeze you in Biscuit Brew and [tablet]

Honey, if you're still aching tomorrow perhaps pop into your gp with/for a sample or a walk-in centre, could well be an infection.

Ordered car seat today :)

My ribs are obviously in the wrong place according to baby Confused

Hoorah ive mastered emoticons!

EggsMichelle · 28/08/2012 19:44

Laura I have my GTT on 18th Sept, quite looking forward to guzzling syrup guilt free! Right now I think I will have to settle for chocolate digestives with peanut butter on.

As for time off, make the most of it, you appear to have a terribly high stress job, and the Dr. wouldn't prescribe anything that would be a risk to your baby!

emilyeggs · 28/08/2012 21:57

Eggs what's GTT? Whats the syrup about? Will I do that also?

EggsMichelle · 28/08/2012 22:14

Glucose tolerance test. One of the things they check in your wee at every appointment is glucose, which can be a sign of gestational diabetes. In my case, family history of diabetes and a long history of glucose in my wee!

They test your blood, make u drink lots of high sugar drink/lucozade then test your blood again. Very exciting!

Just walked the dog 3miles, I'm tired!

Cookiesandcream06 · 28/08/2012 22:47

eggs I have one on the 16th! Had one with DD. the drink made me gag i really thought it was coming back up. I have my stupid BMI to blame. This isn't helped that I weighed myself tonight and was HORRiFIED at how much I've gained in the past few weeks. I was determined to keep my weight gain down but several pounds are piling on every week Sad Blush

laura I'm glad you've been given a bit of a break, I had two weeks off and did me a lot of good won't lie after a few weeks back a lot of the good it did has subsided, and I don't even have a particularly stressful job, managers just make it stressful have some you time and make the most of it, I really hope you feel better soon .

acjfluff · 29/08/2012 08:00

Woohoo moving day is here!! Well, get the keys day as removal men not booked til tomorrow. I'm so looking forward to getting in and cleaning [saddo emoticon]

Have a great day all!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/08/2012 08:04

Morning everyone! Well I tried to catch up yest but it just didn't work so I'm abandoning that notion!!

Our break was lovely a whole week with no dcs (knowing they were having a great time with nanny and grandad), spent lots of quality time with DH, had lots of naps and even managed lots of walking (about 25 miles over a week). I had a crap week of sleep though, either lying awake for 4 hours during the night or waking at around 3 unable to sleep again! Thankfully that appears to have subsided with the heat wave!

I think I'm done shopping for baby! I do need to sort through the clothes we've been given and check that we have enough vests/sleep suits but other than that all we will need is a highchair and cot mattress, neither of which we will use until tadpole is around 4-6 months so I'm not buying them now. I think I've bought all the stuff I need for my hospital bag but I have yet to pack it.

Those of you having a GTT when did they give you your appointment? I was told I need 1 as my dad has type 2 diabetes (although never had one with previous dcs) but no one has sent me an appointment and I'll be 25 weeks on Sunday so surely they need to pull their finger out?

Feeling a bit sad as this isn't my first baby I don't get another midwives appointment until 28 weeks, which just feels like ages away! Although I know tadpole is doing ok as he/she dances around like a maniac all the blooming time! Lol, I'm still pretty convinced he/she is breech though!

We were in mothercare the other day and bought 2 teddies for the baby to give the kids at Christmas one says 'worlds best big brother' and the other says 'worlds best big sister' they are sooo cute and I think the kids will like that the baby has brought them a present!

I hope everyone is well and that there is no need for a sobbing sofa today!

PurplePidjin · 29/08/2012 08:12

Midwife again today to check heartbeat. Might take a book, I think I'll be hooked up for about 20 minutes. Trying not to stress about what-if's, and I've done well at not googling so far...
