Lauraloo It could be pain from the muscles having to do extra work to counteract the SPD. I had this last time and a few twinges in my knee this. Always best to get it checked out though. Be kind to yourself, if you need to take time off take it, SPD is a killer.

Bubbless To measure your bump lie back a bit and put the bottom of the tape measure on your pubic bone and run it up your tummy til you get to the top of your uterus. Have a prod around to feel it with your fingers, it should feel quite firm and you can feel it going back towards your insides IYSWIM, try about an inch or 2 above your belly button at this stage. Then press the tape back until you can't go any further, with out hurting yourself, don't press too hard Grin

eggs what a great day, lucky you.

gils My Dh is being fab too, I haven't cooked a meal all weekend. I'm very lucky, he works really long hours, but does a lot for us all at the weekend.

Bump size, it's small talk for pregnant women. It's a replacement for talking about the weather, but obviously a lot more personal. A swift it's just the right size thanks, usually does the trick Wink

I've been baby shopping!!!!!!! I was very happy, the ds's not so much, but they did get to spend their money box money on lego and are now happily building away, so that ok, right? I bought; nappies, wipes and nappy sacks, not very exciting, but also this and a fab hat with a cow on and they were 30% off too, so also saved some money Smile I feel like I'm finally getting started. I must give my knitting some attention now. With all the cleaning and sorting, it has been neglected somewhat.

Hope everyone is well.

tablet recipe
For all those looking for a sugar kick.
ingredients
1lb sugar
2oz butter
1 tbsp golden syrup
1cup milk
1tsp vanilla essence
method
Put all ingredients except vanilla into a large saucepan. Put on a low heat and stir constantly until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil, you can stir just occasionally now.
You'll need to boil until its at "soft set". To test this dribble 1/2tsp of the sugar mix into a cup of very cold water. If you can squidge this into a soft ball with your fingertip it's ready, if not boil a little longer.
Remove from heat and add vanilla. Beat well with an electric beater till the mixture thickens, goes a creamy colour and the beater starts to leave grains/ trails in the mix. This usually takes 5-10 mins depending on the speed of your beater.
Quickly pour out into a well buttered tray and leave to cool before cutting into squares. Scrape the end bits from the pan & beaters onto a plate and scoff while still warm ( my favourite bit)

itsMYNutella · 27/08/2012 18:37

Hello! Everyone have a lovely weekend? I suppose you still are since it's a bank holiday :o forgot about that...
They don't really do bank holiday weekends here, they're always the same date no matter where it falls - bit of a pain when it falls on the weekend!

Anyway, just to wade in on the bump discussion, I think my bump is fine for 22+4 but I wasn't that small to start with :) so I'm quite happy... even though Dr will probably tell me off, again, next week; sure I'll have gained another kilo Hmm

I have tried tablet once, I'm not a big fan. I love sweets and treats but not the really sweet stuff. I'll take my sugar dressed up in cake please :)

emilyeggs · 27/08/2012 18:59

Love the baby grow kate Smile I've never heard of tablet Confused (off I go to google) I'm backing some ginger cake at the mo Smile and hope we don't need and for the sobbing sofa if you know what I mean

emilyeggs · 27/08/2012 19:04

Baking! Angry I hate predictive text!!

ellliebelle · 27/08/2012 19:20

Kate love that baby grow. The clothes are the only things that sway me to wanting to ask dh the sex

emilyeggs · 27/08/2012 20:12

Have just started to cut a wisdom tooth Sad agony Sad

Cookiesandcream06 · 27/08/2012 21:28

gils I've never heard of this tablet before?! But sounds DE-LISH!! Made some oaty chocolate chunk cookies earlier they were pretty good I've eaten three and a huge bag of toffee popcorn whilst watching Disney films with Dd Blush

I was measured last week (at 24 weeks) and measured 26 weeks and I didn't even feel as though she measured low down enough to the pubic bone. bubbless I've tried before, but I wouldnt panic if you get an 'off' reading because I do think it's quite tricky to get the top of the uterus.

lauraloo I'm so sorry to hear about how you've been feeling. I've actually been put back on a low dosage of A/Ds as really wasn't coping.. DP has moved out for a few days (things aren't good) and as hard as it's been there is no way I could have physically coped without them. I feel like I'm struggling- dd is a difficult 3 year old and DP works 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, he even did it all this BH weekend- and Won't listen to me when I tell him to take a day off. Honestly if you want to PM me do feel free, have a vent, I know how hard it is it's crap. I've been suffering with sciatica again and it's down my left bum cheek then down my leg, and now I think I could have slight SPD/general back problems as I've been walking hobbling differently. Been referred by MW back to physio.
Anyway, long enough post for now, been with MiL a lot, been for some walks with dd in the New Forest. DP has returned bit things still need a lot of talking etc.
hope you had a nice time in B'mouth spotty and everyone has had a fab weekend

Bubbless · 27/08/2012 21:31

laura ah, social work seems like one of those 'hard' places to work- however, me and my brother were both failed by the system, i have a lot of respect for anyone in the business!

measuring the bump sounds very scary, i think il leave that to the professionals!

im a bit concerend about the weight thing.. i was 11.8 stone (whoops Blush) at booking, weighed myself the other day and im 11 stone.. i had bad hyperemesis but surely i should be more than that?!?!

MyDaydream · 27/08/2012 21:40

Bubbles if you lost a lot during early pregnancy and have just been gaining baby since then it's possible. Go see your GP/Midwife if your not sure or worried, but your not underweight and your eating so it should all be fine.

emily I really feel for you, when mine came in I just felt so pathetic because of the pain.

Had a really busy weekend celebrating DPs birthday, although spent Saturday with my mum and she bought some cute stuff for baby, we spent a long time in Asda awwing at baby clothes.

Me and DP went browsing for some new things we'll need when we move, with no intention to buy just getting the names/models of some electricals we liked so we could research before buying. We ended up buying ourselves a new bed and it's the first piece of furniture me and DP have bought together (I cried at this), I'm really happy it's our bed, rather than a boring dishwasher! It's also huge, we were looking at kingsize but ended up with a superking. We're both just ridiculous bed hogs, and once there are little ones demanding space in there too I imagine that extra foot will come in useful.

CODwidow · 27/08/2012 21:52

emily I'm with you my wisdom tooth has also decided to cut do spent today being pretty miserable because of the pain Sad
Although we did put up the nursery furniture today! Still have lots of toys to sort out and need to paint in there but feels very strange to see it. We weren't going to do the nursery this early but got a wardrobe, cot bed and chest of drawers with changing table all for £60 from a local selling site plus MIL offered to pay (she loves a bargain) so couldn't really refuse Smile

Been feeling pretty good lately although I'm now looking forward to getting the boys back to school and getting back to our routine and giving me some me time again.

My bump is quite neat or so everyone keeps saying anyway. I'm finding it odd as with all my others I piled on weight really quickly and yet this time I'm slimmer than ever before so maybe for me it's truer that I carry different sexes differently.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/08/2012 07:33

Quick early morning whinge - 5am toilet trip and couldn't get back to sleep. Work is not going to be fun today! Roll on Friday!

Hope everyone's doing well

pmgkt · 28/08/2012 07:43

Willyou, I didn't get to sleep til 5 and ds1 is up, so think you did better than me.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/08/2012 07:47

pgmkt I do not function well on minimal sleep. But will concede that you win Grin

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/08/2012 07:47

Hi everyone, there's no way I'll be able to catch up on this thread after a week an a half away! I hope you are all well! I've been beaten from the inside regularly and a lot of the time it feels/looks like an alien is trying to escape! I have passed the 24 week mark so starting to breathe a little easier too!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/08/2012 07:48

Oops flipped your letters round a bit there!

EggsMichelle · 28/08/2012 07:54

Bladder stopping sleep is crappy. I had lots of vivid dreams last night, disturbed me loads. I hate these pregnancy dreams, woke up the other morning convinced my DH had left me.

I am loving these big cat stories on the news, I have two very short mogs, but my female does resemble a panther when she storks a bird! Wonder if I could convince my DH to buy me a Maine coon? Grin

gilsbubbles · 28/08/2012 08:48

I'm having to travel to london for work today, been on the go 4 hours already and it'll be an 18 hr day. These trips were tough enough before bump so not quite sure hours I'll manage now. I suspect I may be sneaking off to the hotel mid afternoon for a nap.

cookies tell me to butt out if you fancy, but what doseage / what antis have they put you back on? ive been pushing my doc for ages wanting some form of meds to help me cope was on 100mg of citalopram a day, then went cold turkey.. but they say 'its not possible' and im very dubious that 10mg will be a massive deal..?!

pmgkt i came here to complain of not getting to sleep until 4, but youve outdone me ;)

eggs i love the idea of making your cat a lion!!

itsMYNutella · 28/08/2012 09:53

Eggs when we were kids my cat had kittens, even though she was tiny I'm guessing the dad was a big hairy Main Coon thing... The one we kept (a male we named max) was massive and you could see him coming from a distance across the field behind our house...
He was sooo lovely but left puddles of fur in his favourite sleeping places that he managed to somehow work deep into the carpet Confused

gils say hello to London for me :) hope your day isn't too hard and fingers crossed for an afternoon nap!
I had better go pack.... we're off for a few days to Denmark.

Have fun everyone and hope you all stay well. :) You are all looking lovely by the way.

Cookiesandcream06 · 28/08/2012 10:02

Sorry to hear of everyone's crappy sleep, I was very fortunate to get back to sleep after my toilet trip.

bubbless that's fine I'm on 20mg fluoxetine, was previously on 40 pre preg. The day I found out I went cold turkey too after the dcs scared me, but a couple of weeks in I started feeling meh. Told dcs several times how crappy I felt but fobbed me off every time. When I went back at about 18 weeks literally crying my eyes out he handed me a sick note and a prescription without me asking. When I've mentioned to other medical people/friends about it I have felt quite judged TBH, people pull a funny face and say it's not safe for baby etc. I have felt quite guilty but I think you can tell if it's necessary for you to help you cope. There are ADs which have been taken by pregnant women for longer so they are more confident to give you some brands rather than others. 100mg to nothing I can't believe you have managed that, I think if you really are struggling do go back to your GP (even a diff dc at the practice) and tell them how you feel. as much as people will say about the baby- you need to be in a good mental state, I was concerned it might turn into bad PND after babba is born and wanted to avoid difficulties then. I found it was affecting how I was with DD and DP and things have definitely improved. I think the main risks are taking them in the first trimester, and they want your hormone levels to settle before prescribing anything, but I dont know I'm no medical professional! Let me know how you get on I really hope things improve for you.

pmgkt · 28/08/2012 10:06

Willyou, I don't function well either, but luckily I can nap when ds1 does so don't feel to sorry for me. No sleep is a killer and then I find I get annoyed for not sleeping, and then don't sleep because if that. Did a big baby event Asda sale yesterday, got loads of nappies and wipes, and bought loads of clothes which weren't all in the sale but made me feel better. I need to get up ov the loft to see what clothes I already have.

utopian99 · 28/08/2012 10:06

Hello, been awol for a while as down at parents with friends, all v jolly and neglecting MN..

Off to investigate Shropshire and Ludlow as we have some holidays booked; DH has been eyeballing rightmove (despite plans to leave Manchester for London shortly after Crumb's born) and do it looks like we'll be moving to Ludlow or thereabouts in 5 years!

Still obssesing over the Stokke but want a V3 and £500 seems to be the best price I can find, so hanging on till the bitter end to buy. I feel quite put to shame with all the talk of baking and knitting, I fear I'm not very effective as a mother-to-be. A friend gave me a recipes book called 'Tarts', so aside from causing hilarity in our house I shall attempt a tarte-aux-pommes for you all when I get home..
