Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
minipie · 26/08/2012 14:32

Afternoon all! Just popping in quickly to mark my place, can't keep up otherwise! hope everyone is well.

I'm on holiday and the kicks seem to have slowed right down Sad I don't know whether to worry or not. I have a doppler and hb is still fine though plus I am only 25 weeks and apparently the movements are still quit irregular at this stage?

niewiem · 26/08/2012 16:07

mini apparently there's nothing to worry about as baby might simply be kicking 'inwards' - towards your back so you can't really feel those kicks. Was worried last week about the same thing(I'm also 25 weeks along) but two days later she turned around and has been kicking/rolling around non stop since then!

SpottyTeacakes · 26/08/2012 16:58

No rain here pidj! I really want Indian for dinner but not very toddler friendly especially in the evening Sad

PurplePidjin · 26/08/2012 17:48

We must've caught the edge of something, just had enough to send dp scurrying for the washing!

Head for Charminster for lovely little restaurants but don't tell anyone, it's a secret Wink

Barbeasty · 26/08/2012 18:39

Spotty- DD loves poppadoms (calls them dragon crisps). But a tip for others when they're weaning- don't let your child try a curry, realise it's too spicy for them, then breast feed to try and stop the crying. It hurts Blush

I started going through some bags of baby stuff from SIL this afternoon. A few nice bits, but lovely to see some of the dresses we put newborn DD in, and a few cardigans I knitted last time.

EggsMichelle · 26/08/2012 18:59

I'm sorry Barbeasty but you have made me laugh so much I peed a little! I'll be sure to keep curry away from my nipples.

I'm watching Beauty and the Beast, never got into it as a child (preferred The Little Mermaid) but I'm loving the songs, very jolly!

kate2boysandabump · 26/08/2012 19:00

Hi all, I'm back from my monster cross country drive, but I have my boys back all safe and sound, so we're a complete family again.

I'm absolutely shattered now, DH and I have been sorting through all our cupboards and drawers and ruthlessly throwing out all the stuff we don't need. We've also fixed ds2's wardrobe and sorted through all his stuff and have prodded ds1 into tidying his room and he has done a super job. The boys have also helped each other change their beds although they did manage to get one of the duvets in sideways Grin I'm so tired I could fall asleep now.

I reached 24 weeks yesterday, so feel I can start planning a bit more now and buying stuff Grin I've sent dh into the loft for baby clothes, but a lot of them are at dbro's so need to get them back and they are nearly all the wrong season. At least they are the right gender, so that's a start.

I made a lemon drizzle and millionaire's shortbread today, I felt I was neglecting those on the sobbing sofa. Sorry there are still so many of you taking advantage of it.

HoneyMum21 · 26/08/2012 21:05

quick question - does pregnancy work in my defense if i kill my MIL? Angry

WillYouDoTheFandango · 26/08/2012 21:52

Ooh Honey tell us all! Or post in AIBU and get ripped to shreds Grin

acjfluff · 26/08/2012 22:01

You try it Honey , let me know, if you get off I'll join your club!

emilyeggs · 27/08/2012 08:21

Morning ladies Grin hoping all are well, slept well..... I'm happy today, DH took me out again baby shopping yesterday and I've added to my bits and bobs. I got 12 muslin cloths, a pram suit, hooded towels and a swinging crib! all from mother care. Yay Grin I got my retail therapy in the end Grin

Clarella · 27/08/2012 09:53

Morning all sorry to hear of MiLmadness. I'm particularly lucky in that area, my inlaws are very lovely and noninstrusive and MiL would be horrified if she thought she'd upset or interfered. Plus the otherside of the country!

Starting to get cabin fever over lack of ability to nest in any way shape or form beyond plastering, electrics and plumbing, most areas of the house are really beginning to resemble britain's greatest hoarders, the others are just a building site. I did reteach myself crochet after everyones knitting discussions and its definitely helping! Just doing a blanket at mo. Might try some stuffed toys out of old jumpers etc too. And tempted to sew everyone Xmas decs (funky robins) for pressies :) anything I can do sitting on the bed or sofa as currently the only 'safe' places in the house! [Envy] at increasing baking activity!

Went to a lovely outdoor wedding in a field yesterday, bride due early Nov, whole thing sorted in last 3 months, Wellies a necessity (great for preggo feet), haybales, morrocan food, giant bonfire and a sloping dancefloor in a tent. Twas utterly lovely and especially loved the diy lace curtain bunting (triangles of lace stuck on string) and jamjars with lace round them (for any up and coming brides or maids of honour to be!)

About 7 pregnant ladies there with bumpage which was mad to see but getting a little disconcerted at how 'neat' and 'small' I am - I'm starting to agree. A couple of people even did that nervous checking asking thing where they aren't sure if they're preg or not and don't want to offend - it was a bump hugging jumperdress! Get next measurement on tues, will be 27 weeks so fingers crossed. Im very petite normally anyway with a longish body so hoping just my body shape. My waist at wedding in Nov was a ridiculous 24 inches (!! definately sorted out by honeymoon food!) so hoping its just being generally a small person. I've put on over a stone and at least 3 or 4 inches of fat on my hips so definitely expanding :/ my friend had the same and was sent for growth scans but was ok, I think it was just her kickass stomach muscles due to all the pilates she did. Any second timers had this experience with first? I was bang on the bottom percentile line in my notes so not thought anything of it.

Happy bank holiday Monday - this time last year I was surfing for my hen do in a tutu (in the baltic north sea!)

PurplePidjin · 27/08/2012 10:33

Clarella, I'm 26 weeks and also looking "small and neat" despite measuring exactly right for dates. I reckon we'll be spending enough time waddling so am trying to appreciate the freedom now! I do get tired really quickly, which is frustrating me no end when I've got things to do

lauraloo09 · 27/08/2012 11:00

hiya everyone sorry for not being on in such a long while have been lurking tho hope everyone is keeping well :)

not been too great myself with SPD esp on the left hand side and the pain is now in the back of my left knee could this be related? Also feel I am starting to come down with slight depression. i had depression before i fell pregnant but this weekend has been hell, what with my DH working all the time (6 days a week 12 hours a day) and with stresses going on in work i just feel im not coping anymore with my DD never mind the thought of another child just bringing me down now.

Bubbless · 27/08/2012 11:41

laura theres a couple of us on here with depression / working through it, me being one of them- some days are good and some are bad although meds would help evils to the docs
chin up, you could go to the sobbing sofa? someone made shortbread!!

went swimming yesterday which was lovley, really enjoyed it- however, my hips were killing me last night!!

also, my washing machine sounded like it was taking off this morning- is that a problem?!?!

really hungry... il be back late! scuttles off to have breakfast...

giraffe213 · 27/08/2012 13:05

Clarella and Pidjin, I'm tiny too and keep being reminded of it!! But measuring completely average, actually slightly above average at my last midwife appointment. I think it's just how you carry it, and people will always comment whether to say how huge you are or how tiny. I never heard anyone being told "wow, your bump looks exactly the right size for how far along you are"!

I keep thinking though, if my muscles would just let go a little maybe there would be more room in there for my stomach and bladder to feel comfortable! Not sure that's actually true though.

lauraloo09 · 27/08/2012 13:26

bubbless sorry to hear there's others suffering this but glad I'm not alone. I've came home sick from work spd pain too much and thought of being in there making me worse, roll on tomorrow for my GP appointment hopefully he can help. Craving sugar like mad only thing helping is tablet really need to learn how to make it lol

Bubbless · 27/08/2012 13:55

okay.. questions! how does your MW measure your belly? i want to do mine but worried il panic myself with the wrong measurement!
and also, anyone else having some horrific dreams? last night i dreamed that the sonographer (not sure why i was having another scan!) couldnt find her heartbeat :/ eurgh

laura- what job do you do, if you dont mind me asking?!
make some tablet with your afternoon, comfort food and something productive!!

Clarella · 27/08/2012 14:09

Mmmm tablet :) hugs lauraloo, hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, Sorry, definately over thinking it, just had a ridiculous number of comments. I wouldn't recommend trying bubbless cos I got very different measurements! It's from top of uterus to pelvic bone while you lie a little propped up. But I struggle to find where the top of the uterus is.

gilsbubbles · 27/08/2012 15:12

lauraloo I can give ou a foolproof recipe for tablet, been making it for years.... Now that you mention it, might knock up a batch this afternoon.
I'm feeling very lucky, after all the tales of less than thoughtful partners, mine is currently in the kitchen cooking delicious homemade soup. He's been pampering me even more than usual lately.

I'm having a brilliant BH Monday; got home from walking the dog seconds before it rained, given a video camera by my dad to film Shrimpy growing up, someone very close to me is pregnant (only me and DH and all of you know... Shhh!!!) and I bought some paint samples for the nursery.

Got midwives in the morning, I'm looking a bit big for 25wks (too much nice food) then back to work after 2wks off, Grr work!

pmgkt · 27/08/2012 16:36

Laura re your knee, I have been having problems with my knee, and when I saw the consultant I asked if it is just weakening of ligaments etc, but she said that not in your knees, and too many people ignore things when pregnant ad they just put it down to being pregnant. She told me to see the doctor, maybe if you have seen him about your spd, you could ring and chat over the phone first.

emilyeggs · 27/08/2012 16:36

giraffe that's exactly what the sonographer said at my scan when I told her people were saying I didn't even look preg! No one says you look completely normal for that far gone. I always get told "ooo I was HUGE when I was at your stage!" I don't know how people think I'll react to that but it makes new feel like I'm doing something wrong and the baby is not big enough Sad. That said I feel quite large today and am finding I'm not quite sure how I feel about my changing body. Before I was preg, I thought how nice it would be to have a bump to show off in fitted tops, now I seem to be covering up if anything. I'm sure I'll adjust (don't really have much choice).

hoice

emilyeggs · 27/08/2012 16:37

Don't know what that last word is on the end of my post. iPhone must be possessed

lauraloo09 · 27/08/2012 16:54

Oh gilsbubbles would love a fool proof recipe got all the ingredients at the ready lol
bubbless I'm an office manager for a social work team I have no staff but still need to maintain previous output but the stress of no staff and the thought of someone falling 'thro the net' when the holes are getting bigger is stressing me out IYKWIM
pmgkt I'm going o ask GP tomorrow about my knee couldn't sleep at all last night and basically in tears. I've seen a physio about spd and on crutches so might phone them. I've also had extremely itchy boobs to point that I'm near cutting the skin so need to ask about that too
