Chunky I think the baby has a growth spurt at 27-28 weeks.

I am here, after horrible nights sleep with a sore back, drinking my glucose drink, horrible.

The bonus of being up half the night is that baby was wriggling around all over the place and so feel much happier, was getting a bit worried yesterday. It must do all that dancing about while I am asleep.

Passmethecrisps · 13/08/2012 07:34

Morning people,

I have a quick question I was hoping someone could help with.

Yesterday I started having pains in my left side down in my pelvis/pubic area. The pains are sharp, last a second or so and don't seem related to movement. I thought I would wait and see yesterday but the pains started again this morning.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, ladies. Have a good day.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/08/2012 07:47

Are you growing again do you think?

ValiumQueen · 13/08/2012 07:49

pass I wouldn't think they were anything to worry about as they are on one side and very low down. Monitor and if they get worse or are causing you concern, call triage. Perhaps the little darling is lying on a nerve, could be stretching pains, or PGP coming on. Try to rest as much as you can. I am no expert though. If you are genuinely worried, call the midwife.

I am going to try to get an appointment for midwife tomorrow, and have just realised DD1 is at the hospital on thursday for bloods for her clotting disorder. Need to get my Mum or Dad to take us. I hate relying on others. I am such an independent person.

DHs driving instructor has said we should get him on the insurance so he can practice between lessons. I am concerned by this, being quite heavily pregnant and a bad leg and two other little children who would have to come too. Any thoughts??

ValiumQueen · 13/08/2012 07:55

The nappy lady sells the bits for cheeky wipes separately, oils, wipes at £10 for 25, although some are more expensive. She recommends 50 for full time use. I think I would be better off buying from her than sewing 50 little bits of fabric. Another idea is to get lots of the liners and use them as liners or wipes as needed. I would store mine dry and have a little squirty bottle with the mixture in. I do not like the idea of them festering wet in a plastic box personally.

I will have a go with the liners as wipes today and report back.

Hello all. Caught up on the thread last night but wanted to weigh self before posting. Have put on 5 lbs since conception. But am massively overweight so idea is to put on as little as possible so think this is ok for 27 weeks. Actually lost weight when preg with DD but then put loads on afterwards Blush.

Have a lovely week off this week and off to visit family, and after that only 9 weeks left at work!

Chunkychicken · 13/08/2012 08:32

That would be ok Stunt except I'm only 26wks today!!! Blush Maybe I've been building up reserves so baby can grow...Hmm However, weighing myself now (before breakfast as I normally do) I've lost a kg since last night, which is much more in line with my normal growth rate, albeit on the larger side. My BMI was in the higher end of the normal/healthy range (but I never weigh so little that my BMI gets "low", even after glandular fever & not eating for a fortnight and getting down to a size 8, my BMI was still well in 'normal') so I can expect to gain weight.

ValiumQueen · 13/08/2012 08:36

That is good going Madame have you had to work hard to limit weight gain?

It is important to remember that if underweight, 3st weight gain is to be expected, if normal weight 2st, if overweight, 1st is recommended. From herein about 1lb a week is to be expected as baby is laying down fat. A lot of this weight will be baby and accompanying fluids. I peed out 1.5st after my section due to swelling from IV fluids. We are all different, and it is important that those who weigh 8st do not compare themselves to those who weigh 16 st, for example, and those who are 5ft to those who are 5ft 9!

ValiumQueen · 13/08/2012 08:38

And those who are 21 to old farts like me Grin

ValiumQueen · 13/08/2012 08:40

Anyone feeling sick all the time? Sodding MS seems to be back. Things like smells, teeth cleaning, cups of tea making me vom again. Not happy! My foot is very painful too.

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/08/2012 08:51

Got mw this morning, haven't got any concerned though which is always good!

Been trying to find a car seat with a base on eBay in this area. Found a couple but will feel a bit more relaxed once I've got them.

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/08/2012 08:52

Concerns*

horseylady · 13/08/2012 09:03

Vq yes sickness has returned along with a very uncomfortably lying baby!!! Some days he feels so heavy!!! Last night I felt horrendous after tea (though had again eaten a fair amount)

I was chatting to someone about babies (also pg) and she was expecting a dd. Only to give birth to a ds!!! Baby wore pink for the first few days bless! She said it was a huge shock but was ok. Thankfully they'd painted the nursery a fairly neutral colour!!

Chunkychicken · 13/08/2012 09:10

DMIL was telling me about her work colleague's twin grandchildren - expecting 1 pink, 1 blue. Got 2 blue!!

Kind of glad we don't "know" in that respect, so can't be shocked like that on the day, but equally want to get my head around another type of bump (especially as I keep accidentally referring to bubba by my DD's name!! Blush)

capedcrusader25 · 13/08/2012 09:12

I don't really feel sick but I've not actually been sick once yet. I have started to go off all foods again like in the first trimester and can only eat dry stuff/no meat.
Thanks for the reassurances about not knowing my baby's bum from its elbow! :o She is also really low down and all my kicks, etc are very low and she dances on my bladder.
Not weighed myself, I always just go by how my clothes feel but won't think about anything until the new year!

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/08/2012 09:31

Arghh don't say that! I've got my heart completely set on a girl with her name and everything. I'll be asking again at the next three scans to confirm its a girl!

Two separate scans have confirmed girl so I'm almost 100% sure and both sonographers were pretty sure of it.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 13/08/2012 09:51

Morning everyone Smile

What was the verdict on packing hospital bags? Surely we don't need to do it yet? I mean ... Late Oct/early Nov is ages away right? Right?

Little bump has learnt a fabulous new trick every time I'm trying to sleep next to DP he will rest his hand on my bump, every time without fail, baby will turn a full circle and back it's bottom up into DP's hand, I'm not sure if it's the warmth or just the touch he seems to enjoy? It keeps me awake a lot though!

We have our 4D scan on Sat, can't wait! I'll be asking for a double check of the sex, both DP and I have had dreams about little Jonathan being born a girl! It doesn't matter either way but we would like to know before hand. Grin
I also have my maternity photo shoot on Friday, quite nervous about it, I've never had pictures taken before.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/08/2012 09:52

All well at the midwife who thinks the baby is actually head down with it's back on the left. What a relief. She chatted a little about my birth plan which was good.

Thank heaven for Mr Tumble DS is glued to it while I pretend to work from home. Mmmmmm where's that ironing pile...

YellowWellies · 13/08/2012 09:55

Hey Swiss - wow, what a turn up for the books. Just make sure you judge him by his actions not his WORDS. It's easy for him to say he'll come round and help - but you need to keep a record to be honest - he should be helping as much if not much more than what he used to, given the stress he has put you through - and what this time apart shouldn't be is an excuse for him to slack off on his responsibilities, particularly as he's the one that has caused the split.

I had a shit night's sleep last night. Proper hissy fit with myself for not being able to sleep, three loo trips, carpal tunnel, cross with myself for staying up to watch the Limpix closing ceremony (the ceremony that would not die, they could have knocked that on the head an hour earlier!), and maybe got 5 hours. Grrrrr. So am tired and hoping this isn't going to be the start of pregnancy insomnia as I'm only 26 weeks today. Was also worried as we'd had a very active day and junior barely moved - but now I'm sat at work and they're kicking me a good un so m'eh... all's good.

Happy Mondays everyone

YellowWellies · 13/08/2012 09:57

What I meant (and sorry if this sounded harsh) but I've seen a few friends fellas do this in relationships (often during pregnancy) they do a runner and cite 'stress' (trying growing a baby ya wuss!) and then the woman is so grateful to have them back, having been staring single motherhood in the face - that the blokes have a free pass to act much worse than before and shrug off loads of the chores because their ladies just feel they are grateful that they are still there. Don't be one of those doormats! (I'm sure you're not btw). So yeah judge him on actions not words.

And good luck hon xx

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/08/2012 10:19

....and good luck in your interview mrswee

MissMummy1 · 13/08/2012 10:57

Morning sickness has returned with avengance, blehh. And bliddy typical it's on my full day of work - once a fortnight I see two clients on a Monday with a mad 1.5hour drive in between. The thought of the peanut butter rolls I was craving all weekend that DH has made me for lunch today already making me want to spew. Yuck yuck yuck :-(

ValiumQueen · 13/08/2012 11:11

Round of applause for YW well said, and I am confident that swiss will take any advice from us in the way it is meant. This is not an AIBU thread after all Smile

Spoke to HR finally. Seems they were on leave. I thought it was common courtesy to put a message on the land line and emergency phone to say that though! Anyway, I just put in for my Mat Leave and Annual Leave, and if my sick leave encroaches on my AL I get it carried over. She said if on sick I would have to start mat leave 4 weeks prior to due date, so I corrected her on the policy and said a broken leg is hardly pregnancy related! I think (hope) I will be fit by then though! So I now start Mat Leave beginning of October as section will be around 25th. I was originally planning to start today!

Catbag · 13/08/2012 11:15

VQ I taught my DP to drive from scratch while heavily pregnant with my youngest, and the other two in the car. In an enormous 4 x 4 too (not sure that did him any favours). I found it to be ok, with the only downside being his initial sharp braking which seemed to bring on BH aplenty. That was quite uncomfortable.

That said, if your partner has been having lessons already, he's probably a lot further along the learning curve than mine was, which can only be a good thing. Just make sure you have somewhere quiet for him to do it. We're in the Yorkshire Dales so that wasn't a problem.
