You ladies 4d scans are amazing. Lovely scrummy babies.

A watched midwives also. All of it very emotional this week. < passes vq the tissues>

ValiumQueen · 21/08/2012 22:15

Glad that's over! They called the baby the same name as DD2. I howled! Not watching that again.

Must do a will!

Catbag · 21/08/2012 22:15

My babies appear to have had an enormous growth spurt this week. Not only am I a complete hippo, but their movements have really strengthened. My laptop is propped on my bump and the babies are hoofing it about visibly!

kissyfur · 21/08/2012 22:23

Blub! That song they played at the end always makes me cry too!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/08/2012 22:29

I caught the end of midwives and promptly got something in my eye at the lady with the kidney problems Blush one of my kidneys got damaged when I was pregnant with DS2, nothing remotely like that lady but it brought it back. I'm glad her baby was delivered safely.

Catbag · 21/08/2012 22:30

Aw, all this talk of The Midwives is making me wonder if I could manage to stay awake for an hour to watch it on the iplayer...

MissMummy1 · 21/08/2012 22:37

Oh heck I was about to fire up the lappy to watch the midwife prog as missed it when I was at my mums. I've been completely emotionally unstable the last couple of weeks so maybe not my best idea! Would hate for dh and his waste of space mate to walk in on me in floods of tears if they ever come home from the pub!!

GTbaby · 22/08/2012 00:05

I'll check out the Daniel in Ealing. As that's closer for me.

I hate spending money on bras. Spent 300£ in rigby n piller jut before wedding. N no longer fit it to anything I bought. All that lovely underware is sitting in the back of my cupboard now Sad.

rowingdowntheriver · 22/08/2012 04:14

Aargh, awake as DH's friend just sent a text at 4am!!!

Just caught up on the thread - I had wondering who was watching the midwife programme last night! Some of it was so upsetting. Does anyone else find they can't cope with anything remotely emotional these days?!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 22/08/2012 06:48

GT. Have just checked their website and apparently the one in Ealing only done beds. Not sure that would do the same job as a nursing bra. There must be a department store near you that does a good measuring job, if you can get measured properly then you can go to fig leaves or something.

Envy at the Rigby and Peller, am sure you will fit back into it one day, it won't last forever!
Xx

horseylady · 22/08/2012 06:59

Will debate watching it!! I've slept really well!!! I'm shocked!!

StuntNun · 22/08/2012 07:31

GT don't buy too many nursing bras initially as you will probably change bra size after a while. Your boobs tend to be quite huge at first as they 'fill up' with milk initially. Then once breastfeeding is established your supply adjusts to the baby's needs so the milk is produced 'on demand' as it were. Also if you lose weight post-pregnancy your band size may reduce.

Emma-Jane bras are good, I have these ones www.emma-jane.com/nursing-bra-361.htm for nighttime and I'll definitely buy more styles when the time comes. It's much better if you can get them fitted as it's quite hard to work out for yourself whether they're the right size of not until you've been wearing them for a few hours.

Morning,

29 weeks today.

Hi horsey situation sounds awful about your FIL. Have no advice sadly. I really really hope things improve.

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/08/2012 08:01

Trying to skip past the talk of Midwives, I'm going to watch it tonight. It sounds like an emotional one.

fatima great pics on fb! Can't wait to see pics of all the lovely babies when they're born, doesn't feel too far away now!

My random news of the day, woke up at 7ish, lazed around with dh and ds. Got up to get ds' milk and had one hell of a nosebleed. In fact it still hasn't really gone.
I read that it's normal to have them in preg so not worrying too much just wish it would stop!
It's made my head/ throat hurt too.

brighteyedbusytailed · 22/08/2012 08:02

Argh Dilemma

I forgot my first GTT test as I've moved recently and post got lost,

I re booked and apologized, and then I forgot that one coz my son had an appointment that clashed, God I'm so angry with myself.

I'm too scared to ring up in case they have a go, but I know I need too.

Iheartpasties · 22/08/2012 08:31

brighteyed dont worry! they wont really care if you missed them because you genuinely forgot, it's an important test so just ring up and get it booked :)

applepieinthesky · 22/08/2012 08:36

My GTT test is tomorrow morning. Not looking forward to all the hanging around but my mum's coming with me to keep me company and then she's taking me out to lunch before I go back to work Smile

CandyPop · 22/08/2012 08:38

horsey awww such a difficult suituation. I have a needy FIL too. We moved into a different area completely about two years ago and FIL decided to move too and coincidently found a place only 2 mins drive away. He had split up from dh mum about 7 years ago (not his choice) and I know he's lonely as he doesn't really have any friends. He calls nearly every day and now and again pops round unannounced. Awkward situation arises from unannounced visits! For example I was so hot over weekend and was home alone on the Saturday that I decided to strip off and walk round naked, door rings, panic, mad dash(waddle) upstairs to get dressing gown ) Blush

Anyone else getting bad stitches when walking ? This is literally every walk over 2 mins and I'm not going particularly fast. It's really annoying :(

Iheartpasties · 22/08/2012 08:40

candypops during my last pregnancy I was always stripping off coz I was so hot, and picturing you having to leg it upstairs made me chuckle. The un-anounced drop ins by your FIL is not funn though, sorry about that.

StuntNun · 22/08/2012 08:52

How do you know whether you need a GTT? I haven't seen my midwife since 18 weeks and she didn't have my notes so I didn't even get my 12-week blood test results. She didn't take a urine sample then either so I haven't had that done since 12 weeks either. At my 20-week scan it was just the sonographer, I didn't see a midwife or the consultant. My next appointment is with the midwife at 30 weeks at the end of August. I'm surprised I wasn't asked in for the GTT because my dad is diabetic.

Ahh lovely FB pics ladies, can't wait to see the newborn photos once they all start arriving!

Can anyone tell me how on earth I'm supposed to cut my toenails now?

ValiumQueen · 22/08/2012 08:56

DH21 a nose bleed should not last all day. If it happens again do get it checked out. They are pretty common, but that sounds a bit extreme.

I was addicted to birth programmes before my first DC, and yesterday's Midwives was the first I have watched, and only because I was flicking through the channels. I was pleased I managed to watch it as I used to have really bad flashbacks to my first birth, and I didn't this time, indeed I have not for a long time. It tends to trouble me most around her birthday which makes sense.

I found the walking yesterday really uncomfy in the bump, but it was very hot and is a mile round trip. I did it twice so not surprising I guess as up until now I have just pottered around the house. The boot is blooming heavy too. I let DH take her this morning but I will get her this afternoon. I am stupidly excited at doing the school run, as working full time I never get to do it usually, but have to pass hundreds of kids walking to school on my commute. At first I used to have a little cry as I was so envious. I am sure the novelty will wear off pretty quick.

Hope every one is ok today.

ValiumQueen · 22/08/2012 09:02

stunt that is not good care at all! I would call triage or see your GP. With your family history you should be tested I would think. You need your urine tested regularly too, and should be seeing someone more often than you have been. GTT is carried out usually if someone is older, fatter, has a history or family history of diabetes, or if there is sugar in urine or blood sugar is higher in routine tests. GD has its risks, largely to the baby, can result in very large baby and sometimes stillbirth even if monitored closely.

horseylady · 22/08/2012 09:10

I had a massive nosebleed the other week, but only small ones since. Always worth getting checked out!!

Stunt I too would check what's happening!!

They no longer have a named mw at my surgery, they're trying to sort it out, but at least it explains the lack of consistency!!

applepieinthesky · 22/08/2012 09:50

Stunt Perhaps you should call the surgery and find out why? I didn?t request the GTT and neither of my parents have it but because my granddad is from the Caribbean they automatically test me for it because it is more prevalent in certain countries.
