My DD2 couldn't kick much towards the end as there was no room. Her little feet and legs were all bent, but soon straightened. There are such varying opinions on kicking and movements, but the main thing is to find a way to notice a change or reduction, and to trust your gut feeling.

horseylady · 21/08/2012 17:47

Lane - I wouldn't mind but pre illness we never bloody saw them!! If they were in the uk we'd see them once a week. He would never have stood for this from his dad or her parents but expects us and sil to be supportive.

Him and I had a big set too before Xmas when I walked out the house because of his behaviour. I don't think he believes I'd do it again, but it's bloody easier 2nd time round!! Sadly removing him from my house is harder!

ValiumQueen · 21/08/2012 17:54

My MIL was a PITA. We moved to Scotland. It helped, but now she visits for 2 weeks at a time. Thankfully not that often. We visit her, but camp which gives us freedom. I am guessing moving would be a bit drastic horsey.

applepieinthesky · 21/08/2012 18:07

Difficult one to deal with horsey. One of the only things I ever argue with DP about is family - mainly his.

horseylady · 21/08/2012 18:14

I'd move!!! I'm near nothing here apart from the family business (his) my horses are the other side of town!! I'd be closer to my family who aren't a million miles away and closer to my horses and friends!! However we have got a lovely house and I don't think I could currently deal with rebuilding one!! This one was bad enough but to our specifications!! I dunno while things are bad maybe I'll mention it again.....

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/08/2012 19:22

I'm going to start filling the freezer with batch cooked meals, this SPD is only going to get worse and DP cannot cook for toffee (lucky he is fab in every other way!)

So firstly does anyone have any favourite meals that are good for cooking in quantity and that freeze well?

Also my DSs favourite meal ever is roast dinners. You can buy them as ready meals so can you make them yourself as ready meals? If I cook a chicken and slice it and box it up with the veg/gravy/stuffing, can it be reheated in the oven if it's cooked through thoroughly?

I feel I should know this ..... Blush

DonnaDoon · 21/08/2012 19:28

God is anyone else really struggling to get out of the bath? My family find it hilarious:)

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/08/2012 19:30

I would sell DP for a bath, sadly we only have a shower because our house is adapted for long term disabilities, we have a chair in there though, never needed to use it until the past couple of weeks I've been sitting to shower Blush

We stated in a hotel 2 weeks ago and the first thing I did was check the bathroom, I almost wept with joy because there was a bath, I spent hours in there that night. Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/08/2012 19:42

tits things like shepherds pie, lasagne and bolognase sauce freeze well and they're the kind of meals you'll want in nov when it's cold and dreary outside.
I'm not sure about the roast dinner is say you could possibly freeze it but don't hold me to that!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/08/2012 20:22

horsey i am sorry you are going through a rough time with your fil. I went through it with my own dad when my mum died and it was really hard as I put my own grief on hold in order to support him. Then he went and met another woman to fill gap leaving me high and dry and not having grieved for my mother. It was a horrible time. Anyway, you must put your own needs first, particularly at the moment, you will never get the magic of a first pregnancy back.

evil congratulations on your poo.

Anyway, finally WE HAVE EXCHANGED CONTRACTS on the house. I can't quite believe it. Now we just need to find somewhere else to live. By Set 7th. I will be moving at 31 weeks pregnant. It's lunacy.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/08/2012 20:23

Am so looking forward to nesting you wouldn't believe!

FatimaLovesBread · 21/08/2012 20:27

Oooh horsey hope your scan goes well. We had a 3d one last week, I'll pop some pics on Facebook. Been sorting out the nursery abut more, will also post some pics of that. Just need the cot now (and the jungle wall stickers and light shade and possibly some curtains). But most of it is done. I'm also going to paint some canvasses on bright colours for the walls I think.

Can I ask? What does the start of a water infection feel like. Not sure if I'm starting with one or if it's just the baby sat down low.

My bump feels huge today, I can't see how it's going to get bigger, but there's another 13 weeks of growth Shock

StuntNun · 21/08/2012 20:27

Tits it's great to get the home cooked stuff in the freezer but don't forget easy frozen dinners like pizza, fish and chips, chicken kievs, and a couple of actual ready meals for when you really can't be bothered. Remember you'll need lunches away so get tinned soup, stir-in sauce for pasta even pot noodles if you eat them.

My experience of the first week or two after giving birth are that you are starving (especially if breastfeeding) and you won't be too fussy about what you eat so long as it has calories! It won't be long before you can get back in track with 'real' food but it won't be a priority in the first week or two.

tits - I'm planning to have six frozen dishes that we'll have once a week each for ten weeks. Because Shepherds pie takes up more space than a bag of curry it'll be dishes that need a side dish but DH is happy to do prep a jacket potato or boil some rice.

We're having:

  • Bolognaise
  • Chicken curry
  • Lamb curry
  • Beef casserole
  • Chicken casserole
  • Chilli

Sophiathesnowfairy - My nesting is rather morbid. Carbon Monoxide detector ordered today and I've got DH to book a day off work to finally sort out wills, create a death file and other such jollies. I'm just sunshine and light today Sad

ValiumQueen · 21/08/2012 20:55

Roast dinners are ok frozen, so long as you put plenty of gravy on the meat (can put more on prior to reheating if you want) so it does not dry out, and I find Roasties are never quite right after freezing - the texture goes funny. Roast parsnips are great. I chop the Roasties really small if freezing, or if cooking just to freeze then do mash. I reheat on medium but for longer so piping hot, but it is more gentle.

GTbaby · 21/08/2012 20:55

havent posted for a few days, by the time i catch up [in bed at night] im usually falling asleep.

so hello to new ppl.

interesting pee pot conversation, i get new pots. there is a stack of them in the reception, BUT i always forget to pick them up, so end up peeing on demand and with a tiny trickle and am always embarrassed when handing it over! during GTT test couldn't even wee a tiny bit, but luckily was there for 2 hours so waited until the end of the time. this time i picked up a few so i can pee in comfort at home.

SO tiered. awful leg cramps this morning [well maybe afternoon as i was lazy and refused to get out of bed even though i was wide awake].

Q. has any one booked their tens machines yet? any good deals out there?

bought two night shirts in primark this week for hospital bag. they look like big flannel button up shorts, so would for easy booby access. didn't like any of the PJ bottoms tho, so might go to a yoga type shop, or i remember next had some too.

Q. when do you buy your nursing bras? any recommendations?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/08/2012 20:56

Say sensiblewaiting rather than morbid!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/08/2012 21:01

If I remember rightly about 37 weeks for nursing bras. When the baby drops a bit there is a better indication of the size under the boobs. Bravissimo were great but I think they may have stopped doing maternity/nursing stuff. I would keep away from marks and sparks if I were you they seem to have their own sizing.

gt can you get to a Daniel, in either Windsor or Ealing. They do (at least the Windsor one does) the measure well and do maternity underwear.

kissyfur · 21/08/2012 21:04

waiting I am also on a mission to get a will done! Does feel morbid but like you say sophia tis sensible

Think I need to start making some dinners to freeze, not got a lot of room in my freezer tho. Mind you DP should cope, he is a chef after all!

horseylady · 21/08/2012 21:29

Scan brilliant!!! Totally worth it!! Pics on Facebook!! Cord covered his face quite a bit but was great. Was happily boxing, grabbing his bits and chilling!! They said he seemed very happy!

I can't remember who said about new partner but I think thatll happen. Sadly. Never mind will just deal with it!!

Feeling much more excited now!! So glad I booked the scan!! So nice seeing him again!!

ValiumQueen · 21/08/2012 22:05

Watching 'midwives'. Wish I wasn't. Hooked now and in tears. That poor lady with kidney problems Sad

Catbag · 21/08/2012 22:11

Waiting Very sensible indeed and not at all morbid. I get accused of this by my other half as I've just completed a year studying advanced wills and probate and have become preoccupied with making sure ours and families' wills and stuff are done properly. There are SO many ways that things can go wrong and it's nothing but wise to get it sorted. Otherwise people like me wouldn't be able to spend a year studying it!

kissyfur · 21/08/2012 22:13

Me too valium Sad
