stuntwhat a relief.

Can not believe they gave you a new pot Envy

horseylady · 20/08/2012 10:17

Dh21 great news!!

Stunt the only reason I don't allow my pets upstairs is a. Downstairs is plenty big enough for them! B. The cats scratch the carpets when they do go upstairs and pull them up in front of the doors. C. The dogs have their own room which they sleep in. They are also the muddiest dogs known to man to I like to keep the dirt confined to downstairs!! D. They shed lots and lots and lots. Cats and dogs. If they don't sleep on beds as a matter of course, it'll be no great shock when the baby arrives and everything changes. They have never ever slept on beds or in bedrooms for the 10 years we've had them. Therefore they can't miss it!

Mine is purely practical and what we've always had in place. I'm pretty sure they'd adore the cot and Moses basket!! But they all have nice clean beds in their own spaces, downstairs!

Catbag · 20/08/2012 10:30

I'm so amused at the pisspot envy. I shall be informing my mw how special she is for giving me a clean one each time when I see her tomorrow!

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/08/2012 10:31

stunt a UTI is better than prem labour at least! Although still can't be nice.

I've now got TWO pee pots

applepieinthesky · 20/08/2012 10:50

That must be a massive relief stuntnun

Catbag · 20/08/2012 10:52

DH21 Talk like that will get you lynched, Miss DoublePeePot :p

LittleLolly · 20/08/2012 10:53

I get a nice fresh wee pot every time... In fact last time she gave me two, so I had a spare!! Try not to be too jealous... Grin

I am 30 weeks today, which seems very close to D-day! Eeek. I've got 2 weeks left at work, can't wait to finish.

DH glad your scan went well, baby sounds a nice size!

stunt good to hear everything is ok. I get lots of BH but not painful, just tight.

I agree that everyone seems to love telling you how hard the labour will be, how tired I will be, how I've no idea what I'm letting myself in for etc, etc. I always say well everyone does it, and most more than once so it can't be so terrible!

Is anyone else struggling to sleep? I just can't seem to fall asleep, and then when I do I wake constantly. Either uncomfortable, or baby kicking too much, or I move my leg and get horrible cramp, or I need a wee!

applepieinthesky · 20/08/2012 11:00

2 weeks left at work? Envy I?ve still got 7 weeks left with a week of annual leave in between.

I did hesitate before confirming dates with work and wondered if 35 weeks was too early to leave but I will be so ready by then.

I also get a new pee pot every time Grin

Elizadoesdolittle · 20/08/2012 11:08

Hi all, am 28 wks today and got midwife appointment later. And talking of pee pots, I have been given mine back with wee still in it. Not a problem for me but time before last I didn't get it back so I took my last sample in one of those freeze able pots that you use for purees Blush so I'm off to the chemist to buy myself a fresh wee pot before I go. Bit annoying but chemist is only down the end of my road. Will make sure I get it back this time!

I have had trouble sleeping last week. Mixture of things, but of heartburn, heat, restless legs but I have slept so well the past couple of nights. DH is away so can sprawl out and I've also had the air con unit on loads so thats really helped.

Had a fab time at the lollibob festival but was sooo hot. DD didn't want to come home, we were there until they kicked us out. That's my girl.

Right had a really lazy morning so time to get myself into gear. Have a good day everyone.

Catbag · 20/08/2012 11:14

I'm in the bad-sleep club too. Woke up every half an hour from 12:30am this morning with acid creeping up my throat and no matter which side I lay on it still returned. That combined with nasty crampings in my calf, I really haven't been sleeping too well. I would just expect it to be because of the point of pregnancy that I am in (28 wks today), but actually I've been sleeping badly since I noticed that I was pregnant, at about 5 weeks :(

Iheartpasties · 20/08/2012 11:16

The pee pot issues are hilarious, I cannot imagine being given my piss back though, yuck! Well not yuck, but yuck at having it in your handbag! I haven't done any pissing in pots at all. Doesnt seem to be done over here.

Catbag · 20/08/2012 11:20

How interesting. Not only are we preoccupied with pee pots, but British medical staff in general are more preoccupied with pregnant ladies' wee than other medical jurisdictions!

Iheartpasties · 20/08/2012 11:22

catbag keep some rennies next to the bed and chew two at a time to stop the acid coming up your thraot! It's awful you have my full sympathies. I have also found that if I am careful I can avoid leg and foot cramps, but as soon as I'm thoughtless and shift around 'bang' I get a cramp.

Iheartpasties · 20/08/2012 11:23

Yes, what are they testing your pee for?

brighteyedbusytailed · 20/08/2012 11:25

marking my place I'm due mid November. baby #2

How is everyone? I think I felt the head engage recently not sure though.

felt like stinging but also like a baton was coming through my hoo-haa, I have SPD its hard to tell the difference.

horseylady · 20/08/2012 11:29

Increased protein for pre eclampsia and I assume sugars and utis.

I go through waves of good and bad sleep. The calf cramps are bizarre and I've reduced what I eat for tea to stop my stomach hurting.

Work is just horrid today :(

Catbag · 20/08/2012 11:30

pasties Mostly signs of sugar I think, as in gestational diabetes, and maybe protein? I think so anyway. Will investigate the Rennies. Never ever suffered from any kind of acid-y thing before so took me a while to work out that was what it was! I find the cramps come if I try and stretch out my leg with my toes pointed. If I stretch with my heel pointed, it doesn;t happen. Just hard to remember that when I'm half asleep at 3 in the morning!

Welcome brighteyed! Tell us, do You get a fresh pee pot at your antenatal appointments, or do you have to take it home and wash it out yourself? Grin

Catbag · 20/08/2012 11:31

What's happening Horsey? :(

ValiumQueen · 20/08/2012 11:52

I would sleep fine if only the kids would let me! I wake once in the night to wee usually. DD2 was up at 5.10 but stayed awake.

I went to Asda today. In tears at customer services Blush Went with my mum and both DDs and she did nothing but wind them up! When I got to the car I noticed some chocolate coins that were reduced to 10p had been charged 50p. I had got three, so put mum and kids in car, and went back.

At customer services desk, next to the kiosk, there was an Asda man filling in a form. I waited patiently, then asked after 5 minutes if he was actually working or not. He said the kiosk worker was covering customer services. I had been watching her and she had already served three people who had arrived after me. I asked him if I needed to queue at the kiosk, and he said 'no, she will be over in a minute'. Two more people arrived at the kiosk, and she started serving them too! I let rip (remember visibly pregnant with broken leg) at the man and demanded someone served me that instant.

He just shrugged, resulting in me shouting loudly 'if the customer services is closed there should be a sign saying please queue at the kiosk!' The lady at the kiosk scurried over, refunded, apologised (me still ranting) and put the coins in a bag and gave them to me too, with a little touch on the arm, and a warm wish for the baby. I burst into tears. I did not know whether I was angry with her or touched. I hobbled out as quick as I could Blush Bloody Hormones!!!!!

NervousAt20 · 20/08/2012 11:59

Welcomed to all the newbies Smile

stunt glad it's nothing to serious and that you got checked out!

Argh I've read pages of this thread and remember nothing but pee pots!! I get a new one every time btw Wink

What is sleep? I don't think I can remember the last time I had half a decent sleep Angry every night from 12-1am I wake up every half hour or so and take that long trying to get comfie and back to sleep again. Only had leg cramp once and it took me alot longer to settle after that!

It's my bday in a few weeks and DP has just rang me and tried to casually ask me about the maternity pillow I want, what its called and where to find it and then calls me back to say what was it again and so it's not this other one lol

Felt sick this morning :( hope that's not coming back

ValiumQueen · 20/08/2012 12:00

My family have just found out today that my Great Great Great Great Grandfather was William Banting, who was the person who pioneered the low carb diet for management of Diabetes and weight loss. I am also related to the co-discoverer of insulin He is in Wikepedia and everything!!!

ValiumQueen · 20/08/2012 12:01

Perhaps that is why I am obsessed with pee pots. Clearly genetic Wink

NervousAt20 · 20/08/2012 12:04

Oh and glad everything went well with your scan DH

Smile valium blame that stupid man

I had a dog and I know he'll be absolutly fine with a baby just not interested, the only time I think he'll get abit jelous is that everytime I sit down he think he owns the right to sleep on my lap so when there's a baby in my arms and he can't sprawl out over me I think he'll be quite unimpressed. He's jelous of DP too if we're cuddled on the sofa he'll try his hardest to get between us and when we tell him no he sulks off to bed Grin he has such a personality

applepieinthesky · 20/08/2012 12:23

Nervous My dog is the same. If he sees me kissing or cuddling DP he gets a bit jealous and will have a bit of a moan. Sometimes we do it on purpose to see how he reacts Grin
