My eldest used to be a very fussy eater, she's 12 now and is a human dustbin, it's just something she grew out of. My 10 year old son has a typical man diet, meat and lots of it, potatoes (usually mashed) and raw carrots is his staple diet and cheese butties! My youngest who is 7 has always eaten anything put in front of her, this may be due to the fact we moved to a bigger house when I was pregnant with her and since then we have always sat at the table to eat, I always try to eat with them.

Good washing day today, I've already washed and dried 2 quilts and now all the bedding is spinning. Sad!

Sorry to hear of all the hubby and FIL troubles and hope those tightenings calm down.

ShellyBobbs · 15/08/2012 12:25

Swiss I've had milk from 22 weeks although it's not leaking, it never does when I'm pregnant but gushes once they are out :)

applepieinthesky · 15/08/2012 12:33

Has YW posted back yet to say if her tightenings calmed down?

I haven't had any milk come in yet.

Baby was really quiet yesterday. Didn?t feel him all day until 11pm last night then he went mental and was kicking me harder than he ever has done before. I was starting to get a bit worried and was contemplating calling the midwife if I didn?t feel him last night.

I?m 27 weeks Friday. Am I right to be concerned if I don?t feel him for a couple of days?

jaylee89 · 15/08/2012 12:35

with my DD i dried up so fast and never had any leaking before i gave birth. i keep teasing DH i will squirt it into his tea once baba is here (his face is never amused haha).

well progress on sister is nothing exciting atm shes coping well with the early labour pains but tbh she has a very very low pain threshhold so god help us all! lol hopefully she will arrive tonight :D.

i have been craving toffee apples for a certain number of week BUT THEY DONT SELL THEM BLOODY ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!

DonnaDoon · 15/08/2012 12:35

Apple Ill be 29 wks tommorrow and my baby does have quiet days and busy days...it is concerning but I think it is sleeping/having a growth spurt on the quiet days :)

DonnaDoon · 15/08/2012 12:37

Oh Jaylee what a shame ...come mid October you wont beable to move for toffee apples lol

DonnaDoon · 15/08/2012 12:38

*in the shops on approach to bonfire night

ValiumQueen · 15/08/2012 12:43

I think younger siblings tend to eat better as they see the older one eating, especially when you get to the third child. My mum used to kid on there would not be enough for me, youngest of three, as my brothers were quite picky eaters. Unfortunately her tactics worked too well.

My niece is a very fussy eater and has various intolerances too. I blame her mother as when she was about 13 months old I remember going to their house for dinner, and the little girl was just given a bowl of chocolate buttons. No attempt to give her anything else. I asked if she had already eaten, and was told that was all she would ever eat so that was all she was ever given. I must admit with my SILs cooking, it is not surprising, but even so..... One of her intolerances is dairy. I am convinced my SIL has Munchausens by Proxy, but that is another thread!

ValiumQueen · 15/08/2012 12:48

jaylee you could always make some yourself. Just google a recipe. Fairly easy too.

jaylee89 · 15/08/2012 12:55

ooooo i didnt think of that but what if mine taste awful and they just make my craving worse!

on the run up to bonfire night???? WHATTT ill be ready to pop and probably be craving something else by then :( o the irony lol.....

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/08/2012 13:04

Aw itala if you read this thread, big congrats on the boy!

I'm sooo tired and downstairs and banging (the hammer variety not the other kind!) and ds needs to be up in 15 mins. I have to limit his nap now otherwise he plays up at bedtime.

Baby has been v active over the past couple of days.

MissMummy1 · 15/08/2012 13:04

Was all set to go and make some but realised I have no apples :-( - just about every other kind of fruit! Wonder what strawberries covered in toffee sauce would be like?

I'm pretending to be working from home today as got a broadband engineer coming out. We've just moved and apparently aren't in an orange area? Should I prepare for the house to be ripped apart??

Might spend my afternoon baking to busy myself...

applepieinthesky · 15/08/2012 13:17

VQ I think a lot of the time children are fussy eaters because of the parents. Not saying that?s always the case but it is a lot of the time.

My parents only gave my brother the same bland food that they eat and insist he doesn?t like spicy food etc. Err.. no, he doesn?t eat it because you?ve never given it to him to try, not because he doesn?t like it. He would come round my house and eat loads of different things and my parents couldn?t believe it when I told them what he ate Hmm

My parents are a strange pair at times. They will say they don?t like certain foods without even trying them whereas I will eat almost anything.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 15/08/2012 13:33

I've spent the morning playing Monopoly with DS2 at the same time as baking mint chocolate muffins. Now I'm about to mass
Produce some more bibs while I have an hour or so free. Smile

ShellyBobbs · 15/08/2012 13:36

Has anyone got a link to that bib website that was on the last thread please?

SwissArmyWife · 15/08/2012 13:41

My DD has never been a fussy eater. I just plonk whatever i'm eating in front of her and leave her to it. I've never made a huge fuss over food, and of course she has favourites - tomato pasta has always been one of them, and has her own little ways, for example if she has a boiled egg she only eats the white, but she's never refused to eat unless her teething has been particularly bad. She had a fajita the other night and she loves chilli too. :)
I don't think giving up and just giving them the things they like the most is a good idea, because then they'll never try anything new!

Now having said that she'll probably turn in to a complete fusspot when she's older!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 15/08/2012 15:36

I feel hot and a bit wobbly and like I am going to burst into tears. Is this normal?

ValiumQueen · 15/08/2012 15:42

Me too sophia just have. Very close here, and I have a headache. Likely a combination of heat, humidity and hormones.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 15/08/2012 15:53

I hope you feel better later. I am looking forward to my bed!

applepieinthesky · 15/08/2012 15:54

I have been unbelievably hot and sweaty for the last couple of weeks. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to pass out.

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/08/2012 16:37

Same here, I had it with ds too. Not so bad today as its less humid but I could walk around naked and still be boiling.

I'm so shattered I can't shake it off, I had a little snooze on the sofa earlier. Ds bless him just watched cbeebies and left me to it!
It's prob because I have to get up so many times to pee in the night plus ds wakes at 6ish for the day.

StuntNun · 15/08/2012 17:23

Shelly was it this one funkygiraffebibs.co.uk/ that I posted?

My Natal Hypnotherapy cd came today- bless Amazon :) I've ripped it into my laptop and transferred it to my phone so I can listen to it anywhere. I shall be intrigued to see if this makes any difference...

Thechick · 15/08/2012 17:58

Hello all, I'm popping in and out at the mo, was in Brighton last week and haven't been able to catch up on this thread since then. Hope all is well. I've been reading some of the fussy eaters comments. My ds is a bit of a fussy eater, I love most food and he had a very varied diet when younger but then just decided he didn't want certain things. But (i feel) even in his fussyness still eats healthily eating fish of most kinds, different vegetables, and chicken, rice potatoes, but didnt like pasta or butter on sandwiches or cereal. I personally cannot fight with ds about food, I'm a great believer in picking battles carefully, but my dad who did most of the childcare for most of 13 years of ds's life is a 'you will eat what you are given' type of grandparent. I think both approaches have worked for him. He has over the last year or so become less fussy, he's just grown or of it.
