BTW - I love Inigo. It's pretty much at the top of my list but DH is a bit wavery. I also like Indigo for a girl which he does like, so I'll work on him...

We need a fairly unusual or interesting name as our surname is the most boring on the planet.

Sheldonella · 21/08/2012 11:47

We will also be using late FILs name as a middle name for a boy. Fortunately it is a nice classic name. I just can't seem to think of many names for a boy at all. Only other option so far is William but that's really popular too isn't it?
I can't wait to see baby wave again. At the private scan we saw arm waving and also a complete turn which was amazing. It took the sonographer ages to get the baby on it's side. As soon as she did it flipped over, so funny. I couldn't believe how visible the heartbeat was too. Aww, I want to cry just thinking about it :)
We have also decided to take all testing options available if it comes to it. I will just need to know. I'm so worried about this :(

theTramp · 21/08/2012 11:50

Sarah - ah yes I know that one - the lovely nipple hairs. And neck hairs. And chest hairs. Bloody PCOS.

Funny, we weer just discussing possibility of hiring a private consultant and going for an earlier private scan. Is it worth it? It's a lot of money, but peace of mind etc..

Em2010 · 21/08/2012 11:51

Another one here chuckling at MrsR posts! My ds is also James, but known as Jamie. tedmundo i've always thought there must be a pocket of James' somewhere given that it's a top 10 name and i've never met another one ds age. We know A LOT of toddlers! I think that's why naming a second or subsequent baby is so hard because I know so many children that I can't think of a name I don't already associate with a child! Anyway, names I have picked for bean are both in the top 20 but I don't care and haven't persuaded dh yet. My name was number 4 the year I was born but having been in single sex education all my life and never met another, I'm not so sure it matters. In fact, I always wished that my name was a little more popular when I was at school. I like it now though.

zoeymlucas · 21/08/2012 11:55

MrsR I can totally sympathise with the in laws from hell my DH mother is a total witch and has put us through years of suffering even going to a lawyer and taking us to court to see DS2 before he was even born - trying too break into our house the night he was born, refusing to even spek to my DS (8) from a previous relationship, calling a family meeting about mine and DH relationship that I wasnt invited to, shreadding my DH baby book and photos as well as SIL's to just name a few!
When I was 20 weeks pregnant wth DS2 she pushed me and I went bump first into a kitchen work top which resulted in me grabbing her by the neck until SIL reminded me I was pregnant and to calm down Blush
Needless to say she isnt in our life at all and we have a protection order against her now so no contact at last - but she has weasled back in with SIL's so starting to hear bits about her more and more. Put alot of strain on DH and my relationship and didnt help my pregnancy at all last time.
Shows you cant pick your family :)

I seem to be the oppersite and have no extra hair yet and just felt my legs and there is barely anything there and havent shaved in 4 days!

zoeymlucas · 21/08/2012 11:57

My poor boys have a family tradition middle name which I admit i hate - Douglas but its tradition and has been for a long time

theTramp · 21/08/2012 12:01

Blimey Zoey she sounds awful!

My baby bro is called James. It's a fine name but it's my bros name and my Dads middle name so wouldn't get close to my list!

Em2010 · 21/08/2012 12:05

Wow, we are chatty today! Whilst I was writing my post about 3 more popped up. Love Inigo or Indigo!! and also Sebastian whoever said that.

We have a shocking surname that is hard to match with ANY names.

Zoey I can't believe your mother in law would behave in such a way. Sounds completely toxic. I will try and complain about mine less now

Not that hairy here. I always heard the old wives tale that girls steal your beauty (ie make you hairy and spotty) and boys make you more radiant!! hmmm!

jojo sorry to hear you're still being sick. I was sick up to 18 weeks with ds but it did settle after that.

Em2010 · 21/08/2012 12:08

ps MrsR just don't go calling any of your girls Eleanor!!!

tedmundo · 21/08/2012 12:09

manda my bloods are at 9 and scan at 10 then discuss the results. Also glad it is over and done with quickly! good idea about pram shopping afterwards!

theTramp · 21/08/2012 12:09

Inigo love, I didn't expect that! Pleased to hear I'm not alone.

Boring names need balancing I think. Personally I'm rather fond of a bit of illiteration, but nothing too awful or obvious.

Mand - I feel same as you. I used to help out at a centre for adults with downs and severe handicaps. It was hard. Generally their parents were old, still caters and coping with adults who were confused & frustrated by their limitations and physical urges that they often couldn't really process. Some were quite violent. All parents struggled with fact that their child was me tally a child but physically an adult. On flip side there was so much love & laughter, it was wonderful. But it's one he'll of a decision to make and nowhere near as simple as some people on moral hobby horses are prone to suggest.

theTramp · 21/08/2012 12:09

Carers not caters.. Bloomin iPhone!

mandasand · 21/08/2012 12:33

Zoey how awful for you. What a horrible strain. That really puts into perspective my own MiL gripes which, by comparison, are tiny and a bit pathetic (she offers DH tea, sandwiches, cakes constantly, and me nothing; is a bit of a diva and talks about inconsequential things constantly!)

Yay, Ted we'll be going through the process at the same time, which is a nice and comforting thought. I'm not sure whether bloods are any use with twins. The hospital sent me a book about screening in multiple pregnancies but it's all a bit confusing to a none-science head like mine. I think we'll get the results of the NT and then see how things look. Obv. if there is a potential problem then we'll get deep in the stats and the science.

Thanks Tramp - it's good to hear am not alone in pondering the long-term realities of what are only, at the moment, 'what ifs'. Your experience helps to bring it all really clearly into perspective so thanks for sharing Smile

Rainbowbabyhope · 21/08/2012 12:43

mandasand on the flip side, from the perspective of someone who has held their dead child in their arms, I would have given anything for my DD to have stayed with us, no matter what disabilities or challenges she might have been faced with. Having said that, I am all for being armed with as much information as possible to make an informed decision so I will still be doing an NT scan even if I wouldn't act on the results.

zoeymlucas · 21/08/2012 13:01

She is really is a troll and in the end wasnt invited to wedding or sons christening she bloody come anyway I think it dont help that my mum is the oppersite and would do anything for me, DH and kids so I have the attitude my own mother wouldnt treat me like that so she bloody well aint plus I am fiery so react rather fast and think later. The courts ordered a mental health assessment on her after seeing her behaviour first hand which is when she decided to drop the case to see DS - the judge told her she wouldnt get access anyway as they have serious doubts about her mental health!
She then proceeded to tell them how I was in the priory etc - she didnt know I had explained what had happned in the hospital so had had councelling at the priory as the hospital didnt think it in anyones interests for me to go back there - again proving herself nuts and evil again!
SIL's blocked her out as she has called social services on them and shredded there baby photots but they have let her back in so it wont be long till she kicks off ESP when she finds ou I am pregnant - GOT to love the in laws, lol!!

Well Em I am spotty, not hairy and def not rediant so god knows what that means I am having, lol!!

Just been to shop and bought a healthy lunch pot noodle, salt and vinegar crisps and a wispa gold - oooppps!!!! I did have a glass of orange juice for breakfast so thats got to count :) Salt and vinegar crisps seems to be my 'thing' at the mo after being sicj saturday i had 2 packets about an hour later and seem to need at least 2 packets a day which is not like me

zoeymlucas · 21/08/2012 13:04

God I cant type!

theTramp · 21/08/2012 13:13

Zoey - she really does sound awful and I can appreciate why you're cutting her out. Blimey. Also, your poor hubby. Can't have been the greatest Mum.

You've outdone me on unhealthy lunch. I opted for vegie burger in bun with humous again. I'm now contemplating cake.

Sheldonella · 21/08/2012 13:23

Wow zoey she sounds awful, it's good that you have cut contact.
I've just had a bit of maternity clothes success - new look maternity leggings. Very comfy and £15 for 2 pairs. I have the non maternity version and they have lasted really well. I think the only thing I'm going to be able to wear is dresses and leggings as I can't find suitable bottoms anywhere.
Ladies that have been through it before - is it worth buying bras now or will I just need to do it again in a few weeks?

backwardpossom · 21/08/2012 13:36

Cheese on toast. Yummy!

sheldon I am in my maternity bras from last time and have been for a couple of weeks. They're SO comfy and my boobs haven't felt anywhere near as sore as they did before! My size didn't change last time around after 10 weeks and I appear to be the same size this time, which is useful!

Wow, can't believe you have so many names! DH & I are struggling - mainly because our surname is Turner which is boring and sounds weird with a lot of names! Currently thinking Meghan, Matilda or Xanthe for a girl, really stuck with boys - James is only one we can agree on! Of it's a boy it will get Frederick as a middle name, family name on my side and departed FIL's middle name also. Have ordered name book for us both to go through Blush
zoey your MIL sounds seriously deranged, you poor things having to live with that hanging over you Sad
Told my team at work today as mat cover job ad is going out soon - a relief not be secretive but feels a bit strange 'going public'
tramp and manda I understand your perspective completely. A good friend has a brother with Downs, his DF has died and DM is quite frail and while brother is pretty independent obviously this is a worry. I would be very concerned about what would happen to my child if something happened to me or DH. These choices are very hard Sad

Lexiindisguise · 21/08/2012 13:42

Ps no glow here, just tonnes & tonnes of spots Sad

Sheldonella · 21/08/2012 13:42

Thanks possom I might get on with it and buy some then. Will be hard to find non wired ones that can contain mine though!

dameflamingo · 21/08/2012 13:45

Hello all, I'm not missing in action just quietly and utterly neurotically awaiting my scan which is happening on thursday. I am utterly utterly stupid about not reading anything, conversing with anyone blah blah for fear of tempting fate.

My DSM knows someone who miscarried and having felt the need to give me EVERY SINGLE BLOODY DETAIL despite me BEGGING her to stop keeps sending round robin poems about angels that are too good for this planet to me which is simply not helping my mental state.

I am being unreasonable..someone tell me to stop it!!

tiddleypompom · 21/08/2012 13:47

F-me, you lot can talk!

Popped on 20 mins ago and still here catching up.

Only to say SIL is pregnant (IVF round 1)!!! Early days but happy news & wanted to share.

Off for a snickers. As you were...

backwardpossom · 21/08/2012 13:59

tiddley that's great news, fingers crossed for her!
