oops Sending lots of sympathy

sundaesundae · 16/08/2012 20:45

My nausea has increased too, I had to leave the office (yay to being homebased, I can pop in and bog off at will) because I kept having to go and wretch in the loo. It is lasting all day, but I haven't actually chucked up at all.

I have been having feelings in my (lower) tummy, sometimes almost like a fast heartbeat and sometimes like a quiver. Am I just imagining these things, I don't know what I would feel if anything.

Totally overwhelmed by the notes stuff, the queries about operations, pelvis issues and hip deformities have got me a bit worried.

I had a yummy subway for lunch, only 350cals and I had loads of salad and veg (we won't mention the three cookies I ate afterwards, the white chocolate and macadamia are my weakness so I only go there about once a year!), had cheese on toast yesterday and that was amazing so I get the toasties!

pipsicles · 16/08/2012 21:43

Oh bugger! I have NINE pages to catch up on! I'm hoping I'll manage it tonight, but not optimistic - I'm desperate for an early night!

I had a few things I wanted to say last time I read, but can't really remember it all now, and probably loads of it is all out of date now anyway :( So I'll try again.

Things are going quite well here. My belly is massive, I need a wee all the time, I am still nauseous in the mornings, although it is easing thanks to Floradix (I think, either that or it's actually coming to an end - that would be great!), and I am finally beginning to be able to eat fairly normally again! Hurrah!

I hope all you lovely ladies and your little bean sprouts are all doing well.

Now. Back to page 9...

Lexiindisguise · 16/08/2012 21:51

Aww, hope those of you with hyperemesis & nausea feel better soon. At 11+5 mine has eased a lot though I still have the horrible taste in my mouth - sugar free polos & ginger tea seem to help.
Random question - anyone else have out of control body hair? Normally shave legs once a fortnight, more like once every 4 days now! Bloody annoying! Also having lower back pain at night, wakes me up Sad

Em2010 · 16/08/2012 22:00

Oh gosh! pipsicles I know how you must feel! I've only been gone a few hours and Im miles behind!!

Really glad to hear your scan went well kurly and jojo. Lots of good luck vibes for you tomorrow pink. I admire you for staying away from your maternity clothes for so long, although I admit I never put mine away!

Yes! To toasties- cheese and ham or cheese and tuna are my favourites. I make them on my george foreman grill (i love kitchen gadgets!) Also loving marmite- lots of folic acid Grin strangely I completely went off it when I was last pregnant.

manda I'm wondering if the midwife was avoiding eye contact with you because she was a bit embarrassed that she couldn't find the heartbeats and knew she must have made you worry.

ethelred your dd sounds a character! How old is she? I am toying with taking down ds cot bars but I know he would cause havoc. Is it ethical to keep them in their cots till they are at least 16??

Really sorry to hear of those of you suffering still. Its horrible but hopefully the end is in sight!

Apologies to anyone else who I haven't mentioned, I'm on my phone so can't check the thread properly. Just come back from my maternity reflexology. It is my monthly little piece of heaven!!!

mmmmsleep · 16/08/2012 22:11

Wow you ladies are fast! Sorry not to post in ages. Had nuchal scan this week. Came back high risk downs which took the shine off things a little. We wouldn't terminate anyway so no point risking miscarriage with the amino. Lots more scans now and on a plus note we'll get to find out the sex earlier as having 16 week scan.. cross your fingers for us ladies. We'll love the baby whatever and will cope... just hoping all is well

theTramp · 16/08/2012 22:24

Fingers crossed mmmsleep. I'm 36 which pops me into high risk immediately for downs apparently. You just have to hope for happy & healthy.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 16/08/2012 22:33

em she's 2.8 going on 18! Grin had a trying fortnight with night-waking and horrendous bed-times, but fingers crossed we seemed to have turned a corner the last couple of nights!

lexi yes on the body hair (nice) also seem to be cultivating a lustrous moustache! Grin

mmmsleep glad you are getting the extra scans. The screening is just a risk factor and like you said, if the baby did have Downs they will still be a beautiful bouncing baby!

Yes also to whoever said about bad taste in the mouth. I have it too Gross... And mega sore norkage! BiscuitBiscuit

theTramp · 16/08/2012 23:04

I thought on basis of chat on mumsnet I would give the Beebs midwife prog a go. I gave up after 60 seconds of intro. Nnnngh.

I may only be able to give birth in deep, deep denial with regards to fact that labour is actually happening.

The horror.

ATourchOfInsanity · 16/08/2012 23:40

Hi all!
It's so hard to keep up with you guys!
Hope everyone is well and sickness is easing off. Had a ranty rant on the old thread but feeling more positive today so won't repeat it!
How is everyone with an older child coping sleep wise? I can't seem to turn off until about 2am and being woken between 5-7 by my DD is starting to take it's toll. Any safe sleeping aids for pg women? (fat chance emoticon, I know).

Another thing I wanted to ask is if anyone on here has tried out a Taga pramcycle? If so how did you find it? Here is the link for anyone interested:
www.tagabikes.com/

I ask as OH and I are considering going to Holland in Oct and combining looking at it with a holiday...bit more exciting than a Britax B-Dual tandem buggy!

Looking forward to good weather for the weekend!

ATourchOfInsanity · 16/08/2012 23:47

Oh and for the funny taste in mouth brigade (I had this with DD, like a copper taste which led to lack of hunger) I found this which may help/be interesting?

sarahs999 · 17/08/2012 08:01

Hello all - long time no post; having a few days relaxing in Hove with the family. I have been meaning to post this FOR EVER - I have tried the alcohol-free wine from Waitrose, Fre. It's um... cack Grin. BUT, if you mix it with soda and ice it's a really nice not-too-sweet drink to have with dinner. Just try to forget it's meant to be wine.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 17/08/2012 08:36

Apparently the reasonable fake Rose my friend has recommended is from
Sainsburys. Not tried it yet, but she likes her wine so it must be ok! Grin

zoeymlucas · 17/08/2012 08:39

Congrats on your scan Jojo and glad you get to sneak another one in :)

Finally got my date for my cervical sututure which is Wednesday 12 th sept so still a few weeks to wait but glad I finally know when it is. I told my boss I was having a small operation and he said was it something he wanted to hear about in detail- I said prob not so he said lets leave it at that, lol!! Glad I get to see baby before that well twice in one day though to double check everything is perfect before I get to be in pain for a bit.
Will be 14 weeks for stitch so hoping consultant will see me a couple of weeks after to check baby bean and I can find out the sex of baby bean - patience is not a virture I was blessed with!

Sorry to hear everyone sickness is getting worse they do say it gets worse before it gets better so FX for you guys its turning the couner to get better from now :)

Sarah i have given up with alcohol-free stuff I think it all tastes cack so have just bought appletiser instead least I know I know that and clearly it has fruit in Grin

Fingers crossed for you mmmsleep Thats why I opted out of NT test as would never have amino or terminate the baby so a risk factor doesnt not really help. I believe a baby is the way it is for a reason and thats the way its meant to be my opinion only

pinkpeony4 · 17/08/2012 09:03

Yuk to the horrid taste. I have had it with all my pregnancies and it's rancid!! I can't remember when it went previous times. It doesn't help that anything minty makes me feel really sick but I have found things like wine gums, fruit mentos and lemon smints get rid of it for a short amount of time. Does anyone else remember when it gets better?!

Zoey it must be really reassuring to have a date for your suture. Did you have one last time? Do they do it with a local or general?

Sarah Hove sounds lovely. Have to say alcohol free wine doesn't appeal at all. I have been drinking ginger beer with fresh lime which feels a bit like a decent drink when everyone else is drinking!

Atouchofinsanity A local nursery shop sells those bikes. They look good although I think I would be too scared to have my child at the front like that. You can get trailers which attach to bikes that they baby/child sits in. Have you seen those? I live in London and cycling scares me so probably not the best judge though! I would imagine in Holland where everyone cycles it would be a lot safer.

Mmmmsleep what risk did they give you? I have a friend who was given 1:20 and her baby was fine. Will they do more tests at 16 weeks?

Lexiindisguise fast growing body hair is supposed to mean a boy (according to old wives tales!!)

Lanny - welcome! It's normal to be under midwife care if they don't forsee any problems.

Well scan day for me. Couldn't sleep at all!

Have a lovely day all

backwardpossom · 17/08/2012 09:16

Morning ladies!

mmmsleep got my fingers crossed for you.

I'd been feeling much better this week, but yesterday and today I have been pretty rough. I'm 10+4 today so hopefully it's on its way out. I'm back at work on Wednesday (after almost 8 weeks off sob shouldn't complain, but it's been so lovely!) and am dreading it. This is going to be a tough tough year at school and I can't say I'm sorry that I'll be leaving for mat leave in February. All going well, obviously! fingers crossed

Crossed posts pink - hope your scan goes well, looking forward to hearing your news!

OP posts:
NobbyD · 17/08/2012 09:19

Wow you guys really do talk! Miss a day and so much to catch up on. Keeps me looking busy at work anyway Grin

Newyears Good luck for scan on Monday. Mine's on the Tuesday so hoping the weekend flies by too. As for feelings, sometimes I think I can feel movements too but then it just turns out to be wind most of the time!! Blush

sundae having the increased nausea as well. It's terrible - not chucked up either but retching and just a constant sickness feeling like a hangover. Rich tea biscuits at my desk and pure orange juice helps but not for long!

Lexi Yes to increased body hair! It sounds like you're pretty lucky as I would normally have to shave daily anyway. But now I get a 5 o'clock stubble and it's starting back up on my belly! Had the same with my first and put it down to him being a boy and increased testosterone in my body. So could be on for another one...

mmmsleep fingers crossed for you. As others have said it is only a risk and not very accurate, but either way you will have a beautiful loving baby.

Wanted to ask who has told their work already? I am trying to wait as long as possible. My team are dropping like flies at the moment and we are already down 3 staff members and having to recruit soon so I know this is bad timing for my boss and would just add to her worry. But at the same time, my belly is bulging and not sure how long it will be kept a secret and wouldnt want boss to find out from someone else! A colleague of mine who recently came back from mat leave said to not say until absolutely necessary as our boss actually bullied her throughout her pregnancy so she doesnt want same to happen to me! Great.

I am also hoping after my scan I'll start to get a bit more excited. Not sure if it's the constant nausea or that this is 2nd time around but it's not feeling as exciting as it was before. Everything's a bit more practical this time like "no we don't need that baby item as we can cope with second hand what we've got". Sure it won't last long and I'll be buying all of mothercare!

Hope everyone else all doing well.

NobbyD · 17/08/2012 09:21

pinky cross posts - good luck with scan x

mandasand · 17/08/2012 09:23

Ohhhhhh I've been feeling dreadful since yesterday evening. I can't even describe what's wrong with me. A long sleep helped a bit, but it was such an effort having a shower and getting dressed this morning that all I want to do is go back to bed! I slumped on sofa all night as poor, noble DH went shopping, cooked, washed up, cleaned bathroom, kitchen floor (parents arriving today), all while I was quite a grumpy old wife. He gets gold medal for resilience! Parents should be here at 2pm. Have squeezed myself into old pair of trousers that clearly don't fit in the hope of forestalling any questions about my slightly increasing girth till we're all in the pub tonight. We'll let them guess when I don't have my customary pint! Tried to entice my brother down too - we'll see.

Going to try to porridge and a paracetamol in the hope that will perk me up. Coffee may also be necessary. Be interested to see if my bloods come back with anaemia. I easily get anaemic and B12 deficient, and with two placentas growing... It would also explain my breathlessness, MW said yesterday.

I don't think I've felt any movements (even tho you are supposed to feel them earlier with twins). The one thing that's new is a momentary and occasional feeling like bubbles, but I thought that was just my bladder/intestines rearranging themselves into new configurations etc. Given MW couldn't hear heartbeats yesterday they are clearly tucked away inside my pelvis somewhere.

JoJo they will just be measuring the cyst from different angles or something. Don't worry!

Good luck Pink! Looking forward to hearing your news later Smile Thanks for the good twins story too, and how much they sleep gives me hope!! Thanks for sharing your doppler experience, too. So reassuring?

Lanny me too on mind being able and body not so re friskiness! BUT instructed DH to buy some of that Durex play stuff and we're at last enjoying my returned libido. (Sorry if TMI, esp at breakfast-time!)

Sorry ted and others suffering so horribly Sad

Em that reflexology sounds great! Does it help with back pain and stuff? Thanks for your very sensible words about the MW!

Insanity I have never seen that particular pramcycle thing! Lots of different variations on that theme in pram-friendly Oxford, but this must be new!

mmmmsleep glad you've got extra scans coming up. I've read lots of cases where things can change from scan to scan, so good to be prepared but keep an open mind as it seems the scans are a bit of an imprecise science. I admire your positive attitude.

Sorry not to name-check more, but about the crappy-taste-in-mouth, I find a glass of OJ mixed with grapefruit juice really helps. Kind of cuts through it.

Right, if I don't go and eat now I will have to eat my computer. Ravenous...

GummiberryJuice · 17/08/2012 09:42

Mmmmsleep when I was pg with dd1 I had the double test, it came back with a 1 in 42 risk, I was 24 at the time so shocked wasn't the word, I knew I didn't want anymore testing, but towards the end of pg I started to get abit stressed, I rang maternity unit they arranged for me to see a consultant who give me a very thorough scan, he was confident there were no problems and then went on to list all the things that can give a false reading eg bleeding in early pg, race, if dates weren't exactly right, none of which applied to me, but it was a comfort.
I know you had scan so slightly different, did they do a blood test as well

zoeymlucas · 17/08/2012 09:42

pink have hard sutures with both DC the first was at 23 weeks when I was 6cm dilated without any pain and with DS2 they scanned weekly as thought DS1 could of been a one off but at 22 weeks I was 3cm so was stitched the next day - this time they no I have an incompetant cervix and its not a one off so doing it early in the hope to get past my record of 33 weeks Grin - I also have pesterys and injections in belly everyday to try and help things so am being hopeful of getting to 36 weeks even though consultant laughed when I told him this Hmm
Good luck on your scan today pink they seem to all be happening on here now and its nice to hear everyone has seen there little beans :)

I thought I felt bubbling too manda deep in my pelvis but put his down to wind, lol!

Lexi I had increased hair growth with both my boys had to shave every single day or I had legs like a forest - this time I seem to be less hairy which is always nice, lol!

Lexiindisguise · 17/08/2012 09:45

mmmsleep keeping everything crossers for you.
pink & nobby interesting theory about the body hair! I love these predictions Smile I'm quite fair but definitely turning into a fuzzy monster, good news is my nails are growing better than they have in years too.
manda hope you feel better. Feeling rather bleurgh myself today, at work but listless & tired. Going to put something energising on my headphones & try & perk myself up!

pipsicles · 17/08/2012 10:16

Morning all! I finally managed to get through all your posts - think I may have skimmed a bit too quickly over some though, as a couple of posts further down didn't make sense, but never mind! Staying with PiLs for a fortnight(!) has to have some benefits - MiL running around after DS whilst I catch up on MN being one of them!

Thanks for some good giggles this morning - I particularly enjoyed the pants out the window episode! :) The problem with my DH is that if I did something like that, he would completely fly off the handle. He is a wonderful, wonderful man, but often seems to forget that pregnancy = hormones that I don't always know how to handle very well. He sometimes even says things like "you just seem so grumpy today and keep snapping at me" errr...yes! On the plus side, my libido is also making a comeback and I am just realising that he is also a bit more chilled about my moods - not a coincidence methinks!

Welcome to all the newcomers - it's great to have you join us 'Marchers' (loving that term! :))

Congrats to all those of you with successful scans - I am SO pleased for you all and really looking forward to my own, as I'm sure are the rest of us 3rd Sept massive! Mmmsleep, re the increased downs risk, I have heard so many stories of people who have had high odds come back from the scans and then a beautiful, perfectly healthy baby at the end. We would never consider terminating on the grounds of increased risk, and I am beginning to wonder why we will have the test done in the first place...? Also, I have come across a number of downs babies and children in the past and they are such affectionate, adorable and cute children that I couldn't possibly imagine why anyone wouldnt want them!

Pinky I hope your scan goes well for you - and anyone else who has one pending. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

No funny taste or excess body hair here, not last time either, but my bobobs (loved that typo a couple of days ago! :)) are massive and v painful most of the time! I had no bobob pain at all in my mmc pg and hoped it might be mother nature being kind because I have a toddler, but alas, she is not so kind after all. And why is that my DS is so capable of (albeit accidentally) pinching me right on the nipples?! Ow!

Very Envy of those who are feeling flutters! I've just started trying to pay close attention when I go to bed, as this was always a good time with DS, but I mainly have a build up of gas by that time, so no chance of feeling anything! With DS, I didn't get the flutters, bubbles, flippy goldfish etc, just one sudden kick or punch saying 'Hello Mummy! Here I am!' I'd quite like some flutters this time.

DH and I are 'off duty' today as PiLs are going to spend a grandparent day with DS! We are off to Cheshire Oaks, the biggest designer outlet in the country (:)) and then maybe to the cinema and a quite relaxed meal out for lunch! What a treat! I'd best go and jump in the shower - DH is pacing and muttering things like 'wasting time'! Sorry girls!

Now I've managed to catch up, I'll see if I can keep up again!

Hope you're feeling a bit better Manda

Oh. One more thing. I am cursing those of you who are talking about cheese toasties! I now really want one and DH and I watched the hairy dieters last night and resolved that now my tolerance for 'normal' food appears to have returned, we should try to see if we could shift a few pounds (him) and not gain too much weight (me)! When I mentioned the cheese toasties you guys were making me want, his response was ' they're not very healthy though are they?' grrrr!

JoJoBella84 · 17/08/2012 10:51

pips I am so jealous of you going to Cheshire Oaks it is my fave place to go shopping, I normally go after a trip to Chester zoo as its on the way home :) when I was a fitness instructor I used to go for the sports shops... Now I mostly go to gaze at coast dresses and wish I wasn't such a skint student..

On the subject of funny tastes. I don't get the metallic taste I've read so much about but I do get an overpowering taste of cod liver oil!!!
It's horrible!!

I've had a nausea free morning so far, had a meeting with my head of programme this morning, it was really good we just nattered about babies in general and discussed my options for 3rd year. I'll be taking 7 months out which seems like such a long time!! I'm sure it will fly by though!

Everything suddenly seems more real! Everyone knows about the pg and I'm starting to round a little - perhaps I'm not as large as i think I am but it's exciting!!
