Sundae that sucks sbout your scan and so frustrating with all the red tape with everything in life!

I have just ranted at the hospital as they left a message last Thursday saying they needed to bok my operation but called on a blocked number and left no number, so have got a number from the switch board and phoned at least 30 times a day since with no answer!! Spoke to another department in maternity and she said he would find out and call back.
well she just called back to say there is a provisional date booked in for me but she isnt allowed to tell me as its got to be signed off by a consultant! I explained it was requested by a senior consultant who even specified what week it should be for medical reasons an she refused to tell me and said i will have to wait.

DH thinks I should tell work with an operation coming up but I really want to get operation done then give it a week or so and then tell them but he thinks they would understand the need for time off better esp as it might now be at late notice as I am clearly not allowed to be party to information about me!

NobbyD · 15/08/2012 15:06

manda hadn't clocked you were a london uni lady too! If you were disrupted by Team USA then we quite possibly do work for the same one!!!

Tiddly yep my ds starts school in September. It's gone so quick and he still seems too small to go to school. My original plan for baby number 2 was to have it around now so I could be off for the first year of ds starting school. But redundancy last year put a stop to that and have had to wait a bit longer than I wanted. DS can be quite shy so I do worry about him getting in there so to speak. He's been at nursery since 9 months and has grown up with 2 other best friends that he'll be saying goodbye to forever next week - quite sad really as they are so cute together Sad

tinker I totally relate to the clothes trauma. I am stuck at work in a skirt I thought fitted when I left the house but am now so incredibly uncomfortable as it digs into my expanding middle. Ready to cry too!

sundaesundae · 15/08/2012 15:14

Glad it isn't just me that puts on something in the morning and wish I hadn't by lunch!

I am refusing to buy anything maternity until after scan, I'll feel pretty silly having lots of maternity clothes when it is just a bit of dust!

mandasand · 15/08/2012 15:31

Oh Tinker I hate it when that happens! Just happened with a ten-line FB chatter and I was gutted enough at having to write that out again! I feel for you ... but am also snorting about 'top-gate' (sorry!) WOW you've done Annapurna base camp too! I think DH went at a good time of year, though he was still really cold. He paid about £400 three years ago (without flights) but now it's well into four figures so it will be a wee while before we can afford it! Looks so spectacular, though. He says UK mountains just cannot compare Smile

And, you're right about the other thing. I may have trouble with 'mature admin lady' but I have some good experiences with men of a certain age: on the Oxford-London bus, for example, the drivers will sometimes just wave me on. At first I don't get it and I stand there for a few seconds, proffering my ticket. Nope, they will not clip it and insist that 'You sit yourself down, my dear'. So I do and giggle at £6 (inexplicably) saved. Yes, it is a funny old world. Aforementioned woman replied to my latest expert volley (not copying in the colleagues she had earlier added to our correspondence), asking me to call her, but I'm resolutely ignoring it because I know damn well it will be one of those very long and punishing conversations in which I'm merely required to beg, grovel and flatter her so that she does her job. Usually I will play this role happily because it's sometimes the quickest route to getting the job done but with my hormones as they are there's no chance and I think it's best if we stick to polite-but-firm email!

What a nightmare, Zoey! It's just awful when you get stuck in this kind of procedural mess. Good luck.

Nobby I find my tummy gets bigger during the day! Just bloatedness for me, I think (same pre-pregnancy, though my IBS has cleared since preggo). Yep, I have a post at one of the London unis but live in Oxford. Work a lot from home. On average I go into London once a week and a.n.other city once a week, but trying to finish writing a book by end of month so have spent a lot of the summer at home, going slightly mental! Have missed a lot of the Limpix, though I did (accidentally) coincide with the torch arriving at BBC White City a few weeks ago! Just snuck in before the building went into lock-down! (No disruptions by Team USA for me, thankfully!)

HaitchJay · 15/08/2012 15:37

Yes to bloating! By the end of the day I am in track suit pants. Been looking at mat jeans but think it might give clues to dd1/2 despite them being quite unobservant so far!

Next time dh is home & they aren't I will get him in the lift to help me find my bag of clothes. Not long before I got pg this time I suggested we got on with it as I've a loft full of baby stuff which won't go back up after this one ( Sad at no more baby but Grin at the space)

ChildOfThe1980s · 15/08/2012 15:58

Well, glad I'm not the only one feeling fat. I'm only 8 weeks! With my first preg, I didn't put on weight until month 4. :/

Are people going for trousers one size bigger, or just tracksuit trousers (which I hate and don't think I could bring myself to wear in public.) ?

Saw GP today, who said that in his many years of being a doctor, he has never come across an irregular-shaped sac. Maybe when I eventually meet my MW, she will have come across it if she's really old .

Sorry about your bad MW exepriences, Sundae.

You are all so brave climbing mountains. I like the look of them, but am too much of a wuss to attempt a climb.

zoeymlucas · 15/08/2012 15:59

oooh I am originally from Oxford way manda well Abingdon which isnt far away but now live as far south as you can get, lol! I wouldnt grovel either and with my hormones email is safer as if they write something you dont like you can take a big breathe before you reply on the phone you will just boil and say it Grin

sundaesundae · 15/08/2012 16:02

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21193702

This is VERY positive about irregular shaped sacs :)

JoJoBella84 · 15/08/2012 16:22

sundae what are green notes? This might be a Scottish thing but I have a grey a4 booklet which is combined pregnancy and postnatal records. I have to have some other notes too (for York) but I'm not sure they're green - they were sent to the hospital with the NT scan request after my York booking in!
I'd better get my Aberdeen notes back before I go for my consultant appt on 30th!!

manda I've never had a stress rash before but this came up about 10 mins after vomiting quite forcefully this morning. I was bright red in the face then it calmed to blotches and then the rash under my chin and neck!
It calmed right down after about an hour so just left with a mild rash but not itchy or anything and no muscle ache etc. I'm going with the blood vessels theory for now! I can always ask at my scan tomorrow if it's still there!!

After my good tutorial this morning, I came home, had lunch and then slept for 2 hours!! I thought my energy levels were lifting but I just cannot be bothered to continue studying today :( I need a mummy cuddle or some one to come home In my flat and just cook me a pizza or something!! I hate feeling so sluggish!!

FloweryBoots · 15/08/2012 16:40

JOJO Notes come in all different sorts and colours. My set with DS were a yellow booklet, this time round I have quite the fancy-pants ring binder (not so easy to carry around!)

Tramp my sympathies. I feel like I've been hit on the top adn side of my head today. Horrible nasty migrain which developed REALLY quickly thismorning and left my practically un able to see in 10 minutes instead of the usual hour or so. Just dragged myself out of bed, have been there since 10am!

PIL arriving tonight to look after DS for next two days whilst childminders on holiday so DH and I can save an extra couple of days holiday. Hate that they are arriving to the house in a compleate and utter state - every where is messy, dirty, dishwasher is broken, we have no clean clothes and no food in. Our toilet is frankly disgusting. Oh dear. They will just have to put up with it, I'm not keeping on top of anything with this morning sickness and exhaustion.

Lexiindisguise · 15/08/2012 16:46

JoJo also feeling sluggish & headachey here, pulled out of two evening commitments already this week as by 4:30 brain is mush & I have a headache. My IBS is also awful (sorry if TMI)Blush - DH keeps saying according to the books I should feel better now but I can't shake off this feeling crappy Sad so unlike me!

mandasand · 15/08/2012 16:47

Abingdon's lovely, Zoey! It's a really nice and mainly off-road cycle ride between there and Oxford - you probably know it? - past the Binsey poplars etc. As far south as you can get ? I'm guessing The Lizard in Cornwall?! (Don't worry, you don't have to say, I'm just larking about!)

At the mo, Child, I'm wearing my 'having a big tummy day' size 14 leggings instead of the 12s. I haven't dared tried my jeans for a while. Current look is lots of cheaptastic eBay maternity dresses over leggings. (I've got about five bargain dresses now, all lovely, but I can't bring myself to buy anything firsthand until after the 12-week scan!) But (all being well) we're all going to be HUGE by December when it's too cold for floating around so I'm making eyes at all my friends who may still have maternity winter coats in the cupboard! Or I'll just hibernate all winter! I may not be able to move anyway?

Oh JoJo! Sounds like you need some looking after! What about treating yourself to a takeaway, or at least some fresh pasta and sauce, so you don't have to go to much effort to cook? I know money's a big factor, so it may not be possible. Our local Chinese does a brilliant veggie portion that lasts for two meals for about £4; maybe you've got something similar? The rash sounds extreme! Glad it's gone down and I think you must be right with your hunch!

Flowery, enjoying surrendering to being looked after a bit over the next few days! Don't worry about the loo - if it's that bad they will clean it! I know how you feel though: I'm a bit extreme about needing squeaky clean bathroom even if someone is just coming over for an hour! I'm sure I'll get over it once the babies arrive...

Sorry to others who are suffering Brew and Thanks

HaitchJay · 15/08/2012 16:59

Think I'm going to tell my supervisor & manager on Monday. I'll be 10 weeks then so not too early (and im not wauting fir a12 week scan now :( ) but need to be able to justify some extra security. Also they've been offering extra hours and I would like a bit but prefer to be honest and them know that I will only be taking them until Xmas.

backwardpossom · 15/08/2012 17:07

JoJo I have the same ones as you. Grin My friend in Glasgow had different ones to me last year during her pregnancy - they're quite new. When pg with DS, the ante and postnatal records were separate booklets.

OP posts:
HaitchJay · 15/08/2012 17:12

We had AN/PN in the same book last time. Haven't looked at these ones yet.

KFFOREVER · 15/08/2012 17:14

Hi everyone

Didnt get to post yesterday as I had a friend over. Sundae- I asked about full bladder or not for the scan and they said it wasn't needed. They have messed your appointments haven't they. Hope you get it sorted.

Sorry all just a quick post feeling exhausted. Really excited about those who have holiday plans. We booked a week in Paris in September. Hope it goes ok.

Will catch up soon.

Thereisamumthatnevergoesout · 15/08/2012 17:16

Hi ladies. On phone so will catch up with posts later. Just wanted to say I went out and bought some sea bands today.

Oh my word, they have totally worked Grin

Over the last week, I have been having to eat something every hour or so or I feel sick. Well, it's 2 hours since I ate and although I feel like tummy is empty, no nausea!

Try them if you are suffering.

Write properly later!

zoeymlucas · 15/08/2012 17:18

Its cool manda I am in Lee On solent which faces onto the Isle of wight so as far straight down straight as you can go so about 5 min walk from beach which is nice in summer to grab an ice cream or fry up with kids :)

Have to agree with jojo you should treat yourself and gets something yummy even if a nice pizza from local shop and its a case of whack in the oven and lay on sofa to eat :) and while your there pick up some sweets it would be rude not too

Have pursuaded DH to take me out for dinner as fancy something they do in particular -he said if it cheers me up it worth every penny, lol!! Maybe these hormones should stay My mum has asked me over to dinner tomorrow as boys are off fishing for day and has even offered to make my fav - never to old for mums cooking :)

Rainbowbabyhope · 15/08/2012 17:29

JoJo you will get green notes in York - they are very militant about you taking them with you pretty much everywhere. I still think its totally bizarre in to have everything on paper in this day and age but thats the NHS for you!

I am with all of you out there feeling nausea when hungry so needing to snack constantly - this week I discovered Graze boxes which I am now thoroughly addicted too. Loving having these little healthy snacks at my fingers constantly. Originally only ordered one a week but just upped my order for a third box on Friday so I think I will be joining those of you rummaging in our wardrobes for the comfy things!

JoJoBella84 · 15/08/2012 17:43

Mmmm BBQ chicken pizza, lucozade orange and the big bang theory in 20 mins.
I've just cried at the McDonald's advert, I clearly need today to end :)
Luckily my mama is coming over tomorrow for my scan and is taking me out for dinner that will be nice :)

I asked my exam tutor what I should do on exam day if I need to vomit during my exam, she told me to run for the sink and not leave the room!!
I find that a bit cruel, I'm going to be on camera as its a practical, that's just going to be embarrassing! Vomiting in front of 3 people and a camcorder . Urgh.

HermioneBoo · 15/08/2012 17:53

JoJo it was me that was talking about burst blood vessels, I've burst some in my eye (it's got to be more than one as half my eye is taken up with blood!) and I have a big bruise on my arm. All from coughing and throwing up :(

So Envy of you lot going on hollibobs, we had flights booked to Iceland for our wedding anniversary in September but we decided we could spend the money on doing the spare room up instead. To be honest I can't travel far comfortably at the mo so the thought of travelling puts me off.

Who was it that said that they were 30 in October? My 30th is in November and I have no idea what to do for it, not that I'm one for getting wasted or anything but was planning on a Segway trek, we have segways at work and I love them so much, however my balance is great at all atm, never mind with a bump on the front!

Oh and whoever was thinking of going to a spa - every spa I've looked at has options for mums to be, is there nothing like that at the spa you're looking at?

theTramp · 15/08/2012 18:07

Glad no one on here is responsible for the headache :) and flowers sorry to hear you're also suffering. I ended up going for a quick nap.. Have only just woken up. I've so much work to do this is horribly inconvenient, but I'll just have to work at the weekend to catch up. I'm really looking forward to the end of the exhaustion phase.

No weird food cravings, except for wanting to add peanut butter to everything & I've really wanted an ice cold beer. Another thread suggested Becks Blue, so I'm going to give that a go.

Anyone else got pets? My cat is so clingy at the mo. I think she knows cuddles might be less frequent in future.

HermioneBoo · 15/08/2012 18:13

Omg yes Tramp I have two cats and my male cat has been waking us up at 3.30am every morning demanding fuss and cuddles, he doesn't want to eat then or go out just cuddle, and he's scratching up the carpets so he's def anxious about something. My female cat normally ignores me but now she'll come and find me in the house and she's very affectionate.
I might need to get some of that pheromone spray for cats before my male cat demolishes the house!

theTramp · 15/08/2012 18:17

Aww poor puss. One of mine is generally attention demanding but in last two weeks she's practically attached herself to me. The other sneaks up when I'm on my own (rare now) and curls up for a purr and a natter. Much meowing and chirping. It's v cute. I'm guessing I must smell different somehow.

Both presently sitting either side of me purring away.

Sheldonella · 15/08/2012 19:02
