We're on safari with the labour spotting signs... How long till the next baby arrives?

Pull up a birthing ball, sup some raspberry leaf tea and tuck into the 'big boy pineapple balti'. We're on the home straight!

Mrgere, I understand you so well. After sweep yesterday this morning l had period like pain, I was kind of happy. So I decided to go back to sleep, incase it's a start of labour and took too long!!! Wishful thinking! I woke up and No more pain! Baby is only 1/5 engaged is not helping! really bored! He is a big baby as well I don't know how to push him out!

McBaby · 09/08/2012 10:38

Want the baby to come now 40+2. So fed up of.... Being so uncomfortable,, contractions on and off for last none days, having a show every morning since Sunday and especially well meaning constant texts ... I will tell you when the baby comes and don't retest it I don't respond in an hour and demand to know if I'm in labour or ignoring you! Trying to do stuff and forget about it!

Another one who wants to be in bed all day but it's too hot who decided summer was going to start today!

Sorry for moaning majorly fed up! Fingers crossed tomorrows sweep helps!

MrGeresHamster · 09/08/2012 11:00

Ok, it sounds like we all need cheering up. or at least our minds taken off these comfy babies of ours

So. I suggest we all come up with something productive to be done today, preferably something that is going to make you happy. The sun has come out here, so I will go first (and report back later once competed)

Today I will: sort out all the crap on the dining table (including finding new homes for everything displaced by our new kitchen that I've been ignoring for the last few weeks) then i will properly do my hair ( with straighteners and products like I as if I'm going out somewhere fancy) and go and sit in the sun painting my nails....

Who's next?

hamncheese · 09/08/2012 11:07

That sounds awful needles not fair you get this stuff after all the hyperemesis crap you had! Hope it was a one off

Sorry to hear you are all still waiting and feeling uncomfy and sorry about your mum situation marmite :(

Last night sandy was a star he feeds for 30 mins then sleeps 2 to 3 hours in cycles it's so amazing he is settled already and we can sleep when he does. Got a good routine with DH and nappy changes going too. Will be a bit before we get onto cloth ones though! Going out for first pram time and visit to my work today yay :)

geekette · 09/08/2012 11:24

Going home! YES!

first stop: get my hair done ;)

Weekipper · 09/08/2012 11:33

Today is my EDD! But nothing much happening here. Got m/w in half an hour for routine appointment. So far it's my DH who's annoying me with 'are you in labour yet?' and rubbing my tummy to tell LO it's ok to come out now... I told him he was being annoying but I know he's just excited.

When your waters go: if they are just trickling can you push more out if on loo? silly question of the day

Weekipper · 09/08/2012 11:33

Great news Geekette!

capecath · 09/08/2012 11:51

vino thanks for your thoughts. Had a very frustrating night - contractions started every 10 mins about 4am and got down to 5 mins by 8am, but now have stopped!! We debated going to hospital but with DS to consider didn't want to unless pains became unbearable. I am also getting mega discharge. Like, seriously mega discharge. That must be mucous plug, surely. And baby still being very active, and we know very engaged and soft cervix... I am convinced it is going to be soon. Anyway, thanks vino your story gives me hope! Altho with DS's bday tomor I am kinda hoping if not today, baby takes a breather tomorrow....

Trying to keep active and distracted here!

needles wow, that episode sounds awful! Don't envy that at all :(

susiegrapevine · 09/08/2012 11:59

Am looking forward to going shopping with my mum and sis to get some new bra's and poss spend my dp voucher on a nice top to wear post baby. Positive positive positive!

Am pissed off to discover however that instead of emptyting the kitchen bin like he said he would on tues! Some old rotten banana's in there he has just pushed it down further grrrrrrrrr! Don't annoyed a pregnant lady!!

Weekipper · 09/08/2012 12:42

Back from m/w. unlikely LO will make an appearance soon as 3/5th palatable so not fully engaged as consultant said. She tried a sweep but I found it too uncomfortable maybe it would have helped have DH there to squeeze his hand like last time.

Meh!

Lovemarmite · 09/08/2012 13:16

Mcbaby richmond and capecath hope LOs makes their appearance asap for you!

Weekipper My mw said that they can get fully engaged only in labour and so there's still hope it might be sooner rather than later.

Ham your routine with LO sounds very enviable and wow, so quickly too! Excellent!

geekette yeah to going home!

3bears Oh so jealous, I am a heffalump at 39+5 and the thought of shopping etc for a whole day now is unfathomable! Wow you're doing good.

My positive: I will iron the moses basket bedding later and make up LO's bed. Do a mad labour dance around the house and get my feet massaged by DH!

McBaby · 09/08/2012 13:18

Trying to keep as busy as possible to avoid thinking about it .... Nice spicy lunch with a good book after tidying out the kitchen cupboads and sorting out all the paperwork lying around the house!

Then off to visit a friend who had a baby last week followed by a vat of pineapple.

Whiteangel · 09/08/2012 13:36

Well I have been swept! Midwife was surprised how low down his head is. She said my cervix has shortened and I'm about 2cm and that his head is pressing right down on my cervix so it shouldn't be long and that once I get regular contractions she thinks it will be fairly quick as he doesn't have far to go! I'm sorry you are all feeling so fed up. I've been there for the last week. I'm going to attempt a little walk around the block after a board game with DH and FiL. Hole in the garden nearly gone so might have afternoon RLT out there!

The3Bears · 09/08/2012 13:49

Good luck whiteangel sounds like it wont be too long for you, you must be so relieved :) hope you have a nice afternoon.

Enjoy your pineapple mcbaby

Thanks marmite im surprised I am managing to do all this but it's keeping me busy and not thinking about labour all the time :) also ironing LO's bedding soon just waiting for it to finish drying in the lovely sunshine. Hope you have a nice massage of your dh :)

weekipper My mw also said that babies can fully engage in labour so dont worry about that too much.

Have fun getting your hair done geek :)

ham sounds lovely how well sandy has settled in, have a nice first pram trip Grin so exciting.

Lovemarmite · 09/08/2012 15:43

OK, please can you remind me never to set off a dust cloud or rather a bomb with my mother! She has now involved other members of the family and I've had a call from my Aunty. Of course my mother's story was all twisted and has made me out to be the terrible daughter and I should go and comfort her. Once my Aunty knew the full story, deathly silence and 'oh'! Blumin ek! Should have listened to your advice in the first place Blush Pants!

To top it off, Aunty told me that we have cleft lip in the family. Why has my mother not told me when she knows we're expecting our LO to born with one? DH and I are really flumoxed how anyone could keep this information from their daughter as we even asked her about it.
Wow, I think this is the final straw.
Sorry to burden further and I will go and do something more positive now
Mantra - must listen to my mn buddies, must listen to my mn buddies, must listen to my mn buddies ...

Wishing everyone lots of good vibes Thanks

Lovemarmite · 09/08/2012 15:57

Sorry everyone I won't post anymore on this as you've been so kind and I won't burden any further.
Now I'm following your advice to leave it alone and now concentrating on our LO - she's the most important one here
Thank you tons x

MrGeresHamster · 09/08/2012 16:17

Marmite don't you dare stop posting! It really helps to have somewhere to vent. I can't believe your mum. She sounds like an extreme version of mine; gets nervous when things are not about her, especially if she can't control it, and quite happy to take it out on those closest. I wouldn't be surprised that your imminent arrival is part if the reason she is doing this... Your DH sounds great that he is willing to step in and take some of the heat off you. your aunt maybe should know better Take everything she does as a lesson in how NOT to treat your little one. You do need to take our advice and leave her well alone (at least until LO comes) so that you can be as relaxed as possible. I reckon that it'll annoy her not to be given the attention she is craving! ....and when your LO comes mamabear instinct will come out in you!

My DH came home with his cold, trying very hard to avoid it as advised. No sign still of baby so looks like I'll be having that sweep tomorrow.

OP posts:
Whiteangel · 09/08/2012 16:38

Hamster, sweep wasn't painful at all. I was surprised. She kept apologising but it was absolutely fine. Was very strange when she said she could feel the baby's head! Just been for a walk around the block. Very sore now so hope it helped!

MrGeresHamster · 09/08/2012 16:57

Thanks White. Why are the babies all going overdue at the moment? Hopefully your walk does the job but it's so good that you know you are already 2mm dilated. Have you had your show?

OP posts:
frillylemons · 09/08/2012 17:51

Hi everyone. I have a question re 'the show'...I don't know (hence asking) but I may have just had mine.

Went to the loo, wiped but had a flipping HUGE surprising amount of thick discharge. Googled and it sounded like it could well be it according to this website. There was no blood and DH and I got fruity last night Wink Website said that it doesn't always have blood and can often appear the day after a doink.

Just spoke to DSis who said it sounds like it was my show...scary! What do you all think?

I've also noticed increased BH the last couple days along with constant lower back ache. Comments appreciated Smile

Whiteangel · 09/08/2012 17:54

I've not had anything so can't help I'm afraid frilly. I do know it can happen at any time or not happen at all a bit like most other symptoms. So unhelpful! If early labour was an illness how would doctors ever diagnose it?

frillylemons · 09/08/2012 18:03

It is an odd one isn't it White?!! May call MW tomorrow to let her know. Seeing her on Tuesday though. Well, the increased BH and period pains, along with the potential show is a good sign I guess...

susiegrapevine · 09/08/2012 18:11

Well I went and got a bra fitting done I am now a 36gg!!!! If my boobs get any bigger I will have to build them there own house!!! No wonder I keep getting back ache on my top half!

Bought some very pretty pump shoes with butterflies on like 3d in the debenhams sale half price! Only £9! Yay!

marmite moan, and moan and vent your worries all you like don't stop posting that's what we are all here for mutual support and understanding. You and your mother problems are much more relevant than some of the petty things I moan about on here so you are more entitled than most.

Unfortunatly my waters did not break in debenhams so no free stuff for me!

Feel fully prepared for hb now after buying 2 buckets from poundland (one for each end tmi?)

Come on babies where are you??

MrGeresHamster · 09/08/2012 18:20

Frilly I reckon it must be your show not that I've had one so can't actually say but definitely ask your midwife!

OP posts:
Lovemarmite · 09/08/2012 18:29

You made me chuckle with the buckets susie! although part of me now worries that maybe chuckling is more like scared laughter.
Love the new house for your boobs too!

frilly sounds like it might be a sign and perhaps your mw can test to see tomorrow? I had a few days of different discharge and some felt very watery and I've really notice every day is kind of different. Totally agree white labour seems to be undiagnosable!

white it all sounds very promising for you, let us know how you are and how it goes x

Thanks susie MrGeres and everyone for letting me moan x

I can report back that I have ironed the moses basket bedding and will make it after dinner - yeah, positive stuff!
